WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: July 3, 2018By Cassidy| July 5, 2018 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results SmackDown LIVE kicks off with Renee Young in the ring as Renee introduces the newly reunited Team Hell No as Daniel Bryan & Kane make their first appearance as a team in five years. When asked about their tumultuous relationship, Daniel Bryan says that he and Kane fight sometimes but, together, they are “unstoppable”. Kane says that he and Daniel Bryan have been through “hell” before saying that Team Hell No is “back and better than ever”. When asked about his return, Kane says that, whether Daniel knows it or not, he always has a “demon” watching over him. Daniel then vows that they will become the new SmackDown Tag Team Champions at Extreme Rules before saying that Kane hasn’t exactly always watched his back. Daniel then brings up the elephant in the room, mentioning a time when Kane tried to end Daniel’s career. Kane responds by saying that “everyone likes to win” but Daniel argues that Kane hit him with a Tombstone on the floor, on the steel steps, and on the announce table. Kane says that this is a “fresh start” for the both of them and they have to concentrate on what “unites” them. Daniel comments that Kane tried to “abduct” his wife but Kane says he “tried” before saying that he has “always” had Daniel’s back. This sparks a “yes” and “no” argument between Daniel and Kane. The Usos then interrupt, saying that the tag team division just got “hot” before hyping up Team Hell No. The Usos then say that Team Hell No doesn’t deserve a title opportunity at Extreme Rules before saying that Paige gave Daniel & Kane a title match because they hugged. Daniel then dares The Usos to fight them right now but Kane says that they will consider the match as a team and get back to them. This sparks another argument between Daniel and Kane before SmackDown LIVE General Manager Paige before making a match between Team Hell No and The Usos with the stipulation that, if The Usos win, they will be added to the SmackDown Tag Team Title match at Extreme Rules! On the eve of Independence Day, Jeff Hardy would celebrate the Fourth of July by putting the prestigious United States Championship on the line in an Independence Day United States Championship Open Challenge! The challenge would be answered by a former United States Champion and a record nine-time former Intercontinental Champion as The Miz would challenge Jeff Hardy for the United States Title in the opening match of the night. During the match, The Miz would get caught cheating by putting his feet on the middle rope during a pinfall attempt and The Miz would argue with the referee, thinking he should have won the title. This would give Jeff Hardy the opening he needed as Jeff hits the Twist of Fate, following it up with the Swanton Bomb, pinning The Miz to successfully retain the United States Title. Byron Saxton would then make an appearance in the ring as The New Day would present the inaugural 3rd of July Pancake Eating Contest. However, the contest would be interrupted by the arrival of SAnitY as Eric Young, Killian Dain, & Alexander Wolfe ambush The New Day, tossing Big E and Kofi Kingston out of the ring before sending Xavier Woods face-first into a table leg. On the outside, Killian Dain would take it to Big E, tossing Big E over the announce table before Dain takes Kofi Kingston out with a huge cross body. SAnitY then focus on Xavier Woods in the ring, putting Xavier on a table before Eric Young comes off of the top rope with an elbow drop, putting Xavier through the table! SAnitY then stand tall over their destruction, having laid waste to The New Day. With a match against Carmella for the SmackDown Women’s Title coming up at Extreme Rules, “The Empress of Tomorrow” Asuka would go one-on-one with the man that cost Asuka the title at Money-in-the-Bank, James Ellsworth, in a Battle of the Sexes. Before the match begins, SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella would come out, getting in the face of Asuka before sitting down at ringside to be a guest on commentary. Throughout the match, James Ellsworth would repeatedly run away from Asuka, even booking it through the crowd. After the match ends in a double count-out, Asuka would chase Ellsworth back to the ringside area and this is when Carmella would ambush her Extreme Rules opponent, leaving Asuka laying before Carmella and Ellsworth regroup, leaving an angry Asuka in the ring. As he prepares to defend the WWE Championship against Rusev at Extreme Rules, the WWE Champion was in action on SmackDown LIVE as AJ Styles would face Aiden English in a non-title match with Rusev seated at ringside. After AJ Styles picks up the submission win over Aiden English with the Calf Crusher, Rusev would attack the WWE Champion before rolling AJ into the ring, locking Styles in the Accolade. Rusev then stands tall over the WWE Champion, having sent a strong message to AJ ahead of Extreme Rules. SmackDown LIVE would also see Becky Lynch square off with Peyton Royce, with Billie Kay in her corner. In the end, it was Becky Lynch locking in the Dis-Arm-Her on Peyton Royce, making Peyton tap out to pick up the win. Then it was time for the main event as Team Hell No would face The Usos and, if The Usos win, then they will be added to the SmackDown Tag Team Title match at Extreme Rules. In the end, it was Daniel Bryan taking Jimmy Uso out with the running knee before Kane plants Jey Uso with the chokeslam, pinning Jey to pick up the win for Team Hell No, keeping The Usos out of their title match at Extreme Rules. After the match, Team Hell No’s celebration would be interrupted by SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Bludgeon Brothers, who come out to the stage as both teams stare each other down.
