WWE RAW Results: July 16, 2018By Cassidy| July 18, 2018 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results Kurt Angle would waste little time in getting down to business as the RAW General Manager kicks off RAW. The GM first says that he would like to thank all of the RAW Superstars who competed at Extreme Rules, saying their “effort and dedication” make him “proud” to be the RAW General Manager. Kurt then says that one Superstar who lacks the same “effort and dedication” is Brock Lesnar, repeating his ultimatum from Extreme Rules, saying that either Brock shows up on RAW tonight to discuss his next defense of the Universal Title or Brock will be stripped of the Universal Championship. Kurt continues, saying that it’s been over twenty-four hours and he has not heard from Brock Lesnar himself or anyone representing Brock Lesnar. Kurt then begins to announce that he is stripping Brock Lesnar of the Universal Championship before he is interrupted by the voice of Brock Lesnar’s advocate, Paul Heyman. Paul Heyman then comes out to the stage, starting to do his traditional introduction but Kurt Angle has no patience for the advocate, saying that, if Brock Lesnar doesn’t come out right this second, then Heyman is wasting Kurt’s time. Heyman then reveals that Brock Lesnar is not here tonight which, again, leads to Kurt starting to announce that he is stripping Brock of the Universal Title. However, Heyman scrambles his way to the ring in a hurry and, as the fans chant “strip the title”, Heyman says that Kurt and the fans have it all “wrong”. Heyman explains that they think that Brock Lesnar doesn’t care about the Universal Title and that “The Beast” only cares about the UFC Heavyweight Title but Heyman says that Brock “loves” being in WWE and Brock “loves” being the Universal Champion. The advocate then says that Brock Lesnar wants to challenge for the UFC Heavyweight Title as the Universal Champion so that, when he wins the UFC Heavyweight Title, Brock would represent WWE as a “two sport champion” just like Kurt Angle, in his prime, challenged for the top titles in WWE with the Olympic gold medals around his neck. The GM doesn’t fall for the flattery, saying that, if that is Brock’s goal, then “more power to him” before telling Heyman that Brock Lesnar will be defending the Universal Title at SummerSlam or he will no longer be the Universal Champion! As the crowd in Buffalo starts their “strip the title” chant again, Paul Heyman thinks it over before assuring Kurt Angle that Brock Lesnar will defend the Universal Championship at SummerSlam! The advocate then addresses the fans, saying that their voices have been heard loud and clear when they say that they want “more Brock Lesnar”, congratulating the fans. Heyman then says that all that is left for the GM to decide is who will be “beaten, victimized, and conquered” by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. This brings out Bobby Lashley, who makes his way to the ring fresh off of a big victory over Roman Reigns at Extreme Rules. Lashley says that he had two goals when he came back to WWE and that was to defeat Roman Reigns, which he did, and to beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title. Drew McIntyre then comes out, saying that he came back to WWE for “change”, saying that “phase one” was making sure that the Intercontinental Title stayed around Dolph Ziggler’s waist and now it’s time for “phase two” and that’s winning the Universal Championship! This brings out the man who was cost the Intercontinental Title by Drew McIntyre at Extreme Rules, Seth Rollins, who makes a bee-line for the ring, getting right in the face of Drew McIntyre. Seth says that, if Kurt Angle is looking for someone to face Brock Lesnar, then he’s the guy for the job. Elias then comes out with guitar in hand, playing a tune before saying that nothing sounds “nicer” than Elias as the Universal Champion before plugging his album that comes out next week. The interruptions then keep on coming with the arrival of Finn Balor, who says that he was the first ever Universal Champion so he deserves to face Brock at SummerSlam. This brings out Roman Reigns, who says that he’s not making any excuses and he “doesn’t care” about Brock Lesnar, saying that he just wants a fight here tonight. Kurt Angle then announces that there will be two Triple Threat Matches here tonight with the winners of those two matches going one-on-one next week to determine who will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at SummerSlam. The GM then reveals that the first Triple Threat Match will feature Elias, Seth Rollins, and Bobby Lashley while the other will feature Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor, and Roman Reigns with the latter starting right now! The opening match of the night would see Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor, and Roman Reigns face off in the first of two Triple Threat Matches with the winner advancing to a #1 Contender’s Match next week that will determine who will face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at SummerSlam. During the match, Drew McIntyre would take advantage of the rules of a Triple Threat Match by bringing a steel chair into the equation, taking Finn Balor out with a chair shot to the shoulder while Roman Reigns manages to avoid the chair-wielding Scotsman. With McIntyre in control, Finn Balor would use the steel chair himself, taking McIntyre out with the steel before Finn wears Roman Reigns out with the chair. On the outside, Roman Reigns would take Drew McIntyre out with the Spear before Finn brings Reigns back into the ring. Roman would catch Balor with the Superman Punch but Finn would kick out. Balor then battles back before hitting Reigns with the Coup de Grace but, before Finn can score the three-count, Drew McIntyre pulls Finn out of the ring, sending Finn into the steel steps. Back in the ring, McIntyre would size Finn up for the Claymore Kick, but Drew would get cut off by the Superman Punch of Roman Reigns. Finn then tries to surprise “The Big Dog” with a roll-up but Roman kicks out before catching Finn with another Superman Punch. McIntyre then smashes Roman with a headbutt before going for the Claymore Kick to Reigns, but Reigns gets out of the way and McIntyre instead hits Finn with the Claymore Kick. Roman then knocks Drew out of the ring with another Superman Punch before delivering the Spear to Finn Balor, pinning Finn to pick up the win as Roman Reigns will head to Cincinnati next week to face the winner of the other Triple Threat Match with the ultimate goal being a match against Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title at SummerSlam. After surviving a grueling 30-Minute Iron Man Match against Seth Rollins at Extreme Rules to retain the Intercontinental Championship, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler would make an appearance on RAW. Dolph declares that he is the “iron man” and he is still the Intercontinental Champion, saying that the Intercontinental Championship main evented a WWE pay-per-view for the first time in seventeen years at Extreme Rules. Dolph says that he respects everything that Seth Rollins did to make the Intercontinental Title what it is today before saying that he beat Seth “five times” in one night at Extreme Rules. However, the Intercontinental Champion is interrupted by “Glorious” Bobby Roode, who says that, if it wasn’t for Drew McIntyre, Dolph Ziggler wouldn’t be the champion right now. Dolph fires back, asking how it felt sitting on the “sidelines” for Extreme Rules. Roode says that it “sucks” before saying that he is out there to challenge Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Title right now! While Dolph is hesitant, some taunting by “The Glorious One” convinces Dolph Ziggler. However, Dolph would agree to a match, but it would be a non-title match. In an impromptu match, “Glorious” Bobby Roode would go one-on-one with Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler in a non-title match. In the end, it was Dolph Ziggler catching Bobby Roode with a super kick, pinning Roode for the win. With his tag team partner Fandango recovering from shoulder surgery, Tyler Breeze would go it alone against Mojo Rawley on RAW. In the end, it was Mojo Rawley hitting Tyler Breeze with the Alabama Slam, pinning Breeze for the win. In Kurt Angle’s ongoing mission to repair the friendship between Bayley and Sasha Banks, Bayley and Sasha would be forced to team up to take on Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke on RAW. During the match, Sasha Banks would seemingly come to the aid of Bayley, fighting off both Alicia Fox and Dana Brooke, taking out both of her opponents which results in the match ending inconclusively. Backstage, an emotional Sasha Banks says that she will be damned if anyone else beats up Bayley. Bayley responds by saying that Sasha must care with “The Boss” admitting that she does care, she just doesn’t like talking about her feelings. Sasha then says that she loves that little girls look up to Bayley and that Bayley is always there for her. Sasha continues, saying that she doesn’t understand why Bayley doesn’t get it, telling Bayley “I love you” and that she always has and she always will before “The Boss” storms off. After scoring the biggest win of their careers when they beat Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt to win the RAW Tag Team Titles, new RAW Tag Team Champions The B-Team would face The Ascension in a non-title match. In the end, it was The B-Team hitting Viktor with a double team neckbreaker as Curtis Axel pins Viktor to pick up the win for the champions. After the match, Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt would appear on the Tron as Bray informs The B-Team that they will get their rematch for the RAW Tag Team Titles next week before Matt says that The B-Team will be “deleted forever”. After retaining the RAW Women’s Title in a chaotic Extreme Rules Match at Extreme Rules, RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss would appear on RAW with Mickie James in tow. Alexa says that her story with Nia Jax ended at Extreme Rules, saying that she has “dominated” the entire RAW women’s division before saying that it “wasn’t that hard” to outsmart Nia Jax. The champion then says that she has defeated every woman in the locker room before saying that Ronda Rousey “doesn’t count” because she is suspended. This is when Ronda Rousey would emerge through the crowd, prompting Alexa Bliss to try and make a quick exit. However, Rousey stops Alexa & Mickie on the stage before Alexa & Mickie try to escape Ronda by rushing back to the ring. Showing her quickness, Ronda would pursue Alexa & Mickie and, while Alexa would escape, Mickie would not as Rousey dispatches Mickie with a neckbreaker before trying to lock in the armbar. However, Alexa pulls Mickie out of the ring before Ronda leaves the ring, diving through several referees to get to Alexa & Mickie. Rousey then grabs the RAW Women’s Champion, bringing Alexa back to the ring before trying to lock in the armbar but referees pull Alexa to safety as Kurt Angle comes out to the ring. The GM tells Ronda that she needs to go home and sit out the remaining two days of her suspension. This brings out Constable Baron Corbin, who says that Rousey needs to be “reprimanded” for her actions, telling Kurt to do his job. The GM folds, saying that he is adding another week to Ronda’s suspension! However, this isn’t good enough for Constable Corbin, saying that Stephanie McMahon isn’t going to be happy about this but the Constable is unable to find his phone and heads to the back to find it. Kurt then reveals that he has Corbin’s phone before telling Ronda that, when her suspension is up, he is giving Ronda a match against Alexa Bliss! Rousey is then elated when the GM informs Ronda that she will challenge Alexa for the RAW Women’s Title at SummerSlam! The Authors of Pain were in action on RAW as Akam & Rezar would face Titus O’Neil & Apollo Crews. In the end, it was The Authors of Pain hitting Apollo Crews with the Last Chapter as Akam pins Apollo for the win. In her ongoing battle against The Riott Squad, “The War Goddess” Ember Moon would go one-on-one with Sarah Logan, with Liv Morgan in her corner. In the end, it was a distraction by Liv Morgan that would allow Sarah Logan to knock Ember Moon off of the top rope, pinning “The War Goddess” to pick up her first one-on-one victory in WWE! Then it was time for the main event as Elias, Seth Rollins, and Bobby Lashley would face off in the second Triple Threat Match of the night as the winner would face Roman Reigns next week with the winner of that match challenging Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. In the end, it was Elias pulling Seth Rollins out of the ring before Bobby Lashley blasts Elias with the Spear, pinning Elias to pick up the win as Bobby Lashley will face Roman Reigns in an Extreme Rules rematch next week with the winner heading to SummerSlam to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title!
