WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: June 5, 2018By Cassidy| June 6, 2018 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results With her match against Asuka for the SmackDown Women’s Title coming up a week from Sunday at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, SmackDown LIVE kicks off with SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella. Carmella says tonight is not about her, it’s about Asuka before saying that the world deserves to know the “truth” about Asuka. The champion says that Asuka’s loss to Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania “shattered” her and Asuka hasn’t been the same ever since. Carmella then says that the “age of Asuka is over” before saying that “everybody is ready for Asuka”. This brings out “The Empress of Tomorrow” Asuka but the confrontation is broken up by the arrival of Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville. Mandy says that she was a second away from beating Asuka last week and she knows that she can beat Asuka tonight. Sonya says that Mandy did what she was supposed to do last week and that was save just enough of Asuka for her to finish the job tonight. Carmella chimes in that the “undefeated Asuka” would face both Mandy and Sonya but she’s just the “defeated Asuka” so she should just “get the hell out of here”. This brings out SmackDown LIVE General Manager Paige, saying that she makes the matches around here before giving Asuka the option to pick her opponent tonight. However, Asuka would take the microphone away from Carmella to tell the GM that she wants to face both Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville! Paige then makes it official, announcing that Asuka will face Mandy and Sonya in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match right now. With SmackDown Women’s Champion Carmella a guest on commentary, her Money-in-the-Bank challenger Asuka would face both Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match in the opening match of the night. In the end, it was Asuka locking in the Asuka Lock on Sonya Deville, making Sonya tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Carmella would confront Asuka in the ring and, when Mandy Rose comes back for a piece of Asuka, Asuka takes Mandy out but this would give Carmella the opening she needed to blast Asuka from behind with the SmackDown Women’s Title belt. This leaves Carmella standing tall over Asuka, holding her title belt high. As The Bludgeon Brothers and Gallows & Anderson set to collide over the SmackDown Tag Team Titles at Money-in-the-Bank, Karl Anderson, with Luke Gallows in his corner, would go one-on-one with one-half of the SmackDown Tag Team Champions Harper, with Rowan in his corner. During the match, Karl Anderson would dodge a kick from Harper before surprising Harper with a roll-up to score the three-count. SmackDown LIVE would then feature a unique Mixed Tag Match as the husband and wife duo of Jimmy Uso & Naomi would face the team of Aiden English & Lana. In the end, it was Jimmy Uso catching Aiden English with a super kick, pinning Aiden to pick up the win for his team. Backstage, it would be time for the official contract signing for the Last Man Standing Match for the WWE Title between champion AJ Styles and challenger Shinsuke Nakamura. With Paige presiding over the contract signing, the GM would introduce both competitors before laying out the rules for the Last Man Standing Match, assuring them both that there will be a winner at Money-in-the-Bank. Styles then tells Nakamura that Nakamura knows that he cannot beat him, vowing to walk out of Money-in-the-Bank the same way he walked in and that’s as the WWE Champion. At Paige’s behest, AJ signs the contract first but when it’s Nakamura’s turn to sign, he claims that his pen is out of ink. AJ then gives Nakamura his pen but Nakamura tosses the pen away, saying that AJ’s “pen is broke”. Fed up with Nakamura’s games, the WWE Champion would slap Nakamura across the face before Styles is restrained by two agents. After AJ is escorted away, Nakamura pulls a pen out of his jacket pocket, signing the contract and saying “last man standing” before walking off as the match is made official for Money-in-the-Bank. Best friends and Money-in-the-Bank adversaries would then face off on SmackDown LIVE as Becky Lynch would go one-on-one with Charlotte Flair. In the end, it was Becky Lynch locking in the Dis-Arm-Her on Charlotte Flair, making her best friend tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Becky would help Charlotte to her feet, showing her respect for Charlotte. As he prepares to face Daniel Bryan at Money-in-the-Bank, Big Cass would be interviewed by Renee Young on SmackDown LIVE. Big Cass says that Daniel Bryan’s win over him at Backlash was a “fluke” before saying that Daniel packs quite a punch for a man with such a “petite stature”. The seven-footer then says a “good big man” will always beat a “good little man” before saying that Daniel has never been in the ring as “big” or as “educated” as him. Cass continues, saying that he will beat Daniel down and “embarrass” him at Money-in-the-Bank and saying that Daniel needs to go and do what he does best and that’s playing a “garden gnome” on Total Divas. Big Cass then says that Daniel Bryan will “never survive” in his world. Backstage, an interview with Sin Cara is interrupted by Zelina Vega, who reveals that, next week, Sin Cara will face his former friend and protégé Andrade “Cien” Almas. This is when Almas would ambush Sin Cara, tossing the masked man into a nearby luggage case before walking off, leaving Sin Cara clutching his arm. Then it was time for the main event as all of the SmackDown LIVE participants in the Men’s Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match would compete in a 6-Man Tag match as The New Day would face the team of The Miz, Rusev, and Samoa Joe. During the match, Samoa Joe would trap Xavier Woods in the Coquina Clutch on the outside before Rusev levels Kofi Kingston with the Machka Kick. This would leave Big E all alone against The Miz, Rusev, and Samoa Joe and this is when The Miz would have some humiliation in mind for Big E as “The A-Lister” would grab a plate of The New Day’s signature pancakes as Rusev and Joe hold Big E. However, Kofi would get on the ring apron, briefly distracting The Miz and, when The Miz tosses the pancakes, he is oblivious to the fact that Big E escaped his partners’ grasp as The Miz accidentally hits Rusev and Samoa Joe with the pancakes! Rusev and Joe then get in the face of The Miz but Rusev shoves Joe aside so he could take The Miz out with the Machka Kick! Joe then flattens “The A-Lister” with a senton before both Joe and Rusev abandon their partner. This would allow Big E & Kofi Kingston to hit The Miz with the Midnight Hour with Big E pinning The Miz to pick up the win for The New Day. The New Day then celebrate their main event victory as they look ahead to Money-in-the-Bank where one of them will be competing in the Men’s Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match.
