WWE RAW Results: April 30, 2018By Cassidy| May 1, 2018 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results After his Steel Cage rematch for the Universal Title against Brock Lesnar at The Greatest Royal Rumble ended in controversy, RAW kicks off with “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns as Roman must now set his sights on facing Samoa Joe this Sunday at Backlash. Roman says that he’s not going to make “any excuses” because there’s no need to before saying that he’s the “real Universal Champion”. Doing his best to talk through the boos and the chants of “Roman sucks”, Reigns says that he kept his “word” at The Greatest Royal Rumble when he “beat Brock Lesnar” in that Steel Cage and, because of that, he will “never lose faith” in himself again. This is when Roman is interrupted by his Backlash opponent, Samoa Joe, who appears on the Tron. Joe tells Roman that he told Reigns that he was going to fail against Brock Lesnar and, at Backlash, he is going to put his “downward spiraling career” to sleep. Jinder Mahal, with Sunil Singh by his side, then comes out as Jinder says that Roman lost “fair and square” to Brock and Roman will lose to Samoa Joe at Backlash. Jinder then says that Roman is going to lose to him tonight before saying that, sooner or later, he will be the Universal Champion. This confrontation is then interrupted by Sami Zayn, who gets a huge hometown reception from the Montreal fans. Sami says that he was unable to compete at The Greatest Royal Rumble due to “vertigo” before saying that he will be the one to face Roman Reigns tonight. This brings out Maryville, Quebec native Kevin Owens, who also gets a huge response from the Quebec crowd. Owens says that what Montreal really wants to see is Kevin Owens versus Roman Reigns. Owens then polls the crowd on who they want to see go one-on-one with Roman Reigns. With the fans overwhelmingly supportive of Kevin Owens, Owens would get in the face of Roman Reigns, who would pop Owens with a right hand. This would lead to a four-on-one beatdown at the hands of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Jinder Mahal, and Sunil Singh. This is when Bobby Lashley would make the save but “The Dominator” is ultimately overcome by the numbers disadvantage. Braun Strowman then marches to the ring to get a piece of the action with Reigns, Lashley, and Strowman working together to clear the ring of Owens, Zayn, and Jinder. Braun then picks Sunil Singh up over his head, tossing Sunil to the outside on top of Owens, Zayn, and Jinder, leaving Roman, Lashley, and Braun standing tall. In a rematch from last week where Elias defeated Bobby Roode in his RAW debut, “The Glorious One” would look to even things up with Elias as Bobby Roode would go one-on-one with Elias in the opening match of the night. During the match, Elias would knock Bobby Roode out to the ring apron before Elias sends Roode throat-first into the steel buckle that secures the turnbuckle to the ring post. This leaves “The Glorious One” on the outside clutching his throat as the referee calls for medical assistance. As Bobby Roode receives medical attention, Elias decides to grab a microphone and declare himself the winner of the match before Elias walks to the back, showing no concern for his opponent. The Authors of Pain were in action on RAW as Akam & Rezar took on two local competitors by the names of Jean-Paul & Francois. In the end, it was The Authors of Pain making short work of the two locals, hitting the Super Collider before Akam & Rezar connect with the Last Chapter to Jean-Paul as Rezar pins Jean-Paul to pick up the win. After successfully defending the Intercontinental Title in a Ladder Match at The Greatest Royal Rumble, Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins would make an appearance on RAW just six nights before he puts the title on the line against The Miz at Backlash. After giving some time to the rowdy fans, Seth says that he doesn’t want to be the same kind of champion that Brock Lesnar is, backing up his Shield brethren by saying that they all saw Roman Reigns’ feet hit first. Rollins then says that he wants to be “fighting champion” before the Intercontinental Champion is interrupted by Finn Balor, who makes his way to the ring. Finn says he came so close to winning the Intercontinental Title in Saudi Arabia before congratulating Seth on his victory at The Greatest Royal Rumble. Balor then says that they are 2-2 against each other in singles matches before challenging Seth to be a “fighting champion” and put the title on the line against him tonight. Rollins says that, while he does have a title defense against The Miz at Backlash, he is a fighting champion before accepting Finn’s challenge. This brings out The Miztourage, who says that Seth and Finn shouldn’t be fighting each other, they should all be fighting with each other. Bo Dallas then propose that they form The Four Horsemen in WWE but Seth and Finn decline so The Miztourage attacks Seth and Finn with Seth and Finn getting the better of The Miztourage, sending Bo and Curtis out of the ring. This would leave Seth Rollins open for Finn Balor to take the Intercontinental Champion out with a neckbreaker. Balor then leaves the ring as Rollins is left down in the ring. After Sasha Banks and Bayley were ambushed by The Riott Squad in The Riott Squad’s RAW debut a couple of weeks ago, Sasha Banks would be looking for revenge on RAW as “The Boss” would go one-on-one with The Riott Squad’s Ruby Riott, with Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan in her corner. During the match, Sasha Banks would lock in the Bank Statement on Ruby Riott but Sarah Logan would get in the ring, distracting the referee while Liv Morgan would rescue Ruby, pulling Riott out of the submission hold behind the back of the referee. Sasha would respond by delivering the double knees to Ruby on the ring apron before Sasha dives off of the ring apron to take out Liv Morgan with the double knees! Sasha then climbs to the top rope but Sarah Logan gets on the ring apron and, while Sasha kicks Logan away, the distraction would benefit Ruby Riott as Ruby would catch “The Boss” with the Riott Kick, knocking Sasha off of the top rope as Ruby pins Sasha to pick up the win with the help of Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan. Following a confrontation earlier in the night, RAW would see the team of Roman Reigns, Bobby Lashley, and Braun Strowman face the team of Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, and Jinder Mahal, with Sunil Singh in his corner, in a 6-Man Tag match. In the end, it was Jinder Mahal taking a Spear from Roman Reigns before Braun Strowman plants Kevin Owens with the running powerslam, pinning Owens to pick up the win for his team. After being attacked by Baron Corbin last week, No Way Jose would be looking for revenge on RAW as the fun-loving Superstar would go one-on-one with “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin. During the match, Titus O’Neil would come out with Apollo Crews & Dana Brooke to confront Baron Corbin after a backstage confrontation earlier in the night as Titus would prat fall on the ring apron, distracting Corbin long enough for No Way Jose to take advantage as Jose rolls Corbin up for the win. After Mickie James tried to prey on an injured Natalya last week only for Ronda Rousey to come to the aid of Natalya, Ronda Rousey would be in the corner of Natalya as Natalya would go one-on-one with Mickie James, with Alexa Bliss in her corner. During the match, Alexa Bliss would get on the ring apron to distract Natalya and Ronda Rousey would get involved, chasing Alexa around the ring before Alexa flees up the ramp. Meanwhile, in the ring, Natalya rolls up Mickie James to secure the win. After the match, Nia Jax would come out, chasing Alexa Bliss down the ramp as Alexa escapes from her Backlash opponent. Nia then gets in the ring, sizing up Ronda Rousey and Natalya before the RAW Women’s Champion raises the hands of Ronda and Natalya. Then it was time for the main event as, after the challenge was accepted earlier in the night, Seth Rollins would defend the Intercontinental Championship against Finn Balor. At the end of another classic match between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor, Finn would repeatedly avoid the Curb Stomp but, after a super kick, Seth would finally put Balor down with the Curb Stomp, pinning Finn to successfully retain the Intercontinental Championship, ensuring that he will be walking into Backlash this Sunday as the Intercontinental Champion.
