WWE RAW Results: April 9, 2018By Cassidy| April 10, 2018 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results After she and husband Triple H were defeated by Ronda Rousey & Kurt Angle at WrestleMania one night earlier when she was made to tap out to “The Baddest Woman on the Planet”, RAW kicks off with RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon, who limps to the ring with her arm in a brace, showing the effects of her encounter with “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey. Responding to the chants of “you tapped out” from the crowd, Stephanie says that any other crowd would at least have some “sympathy” for her. The Commissioner then says that there was a lot of speculation about one woman and if she could make the transition before saying that she was “amazing”, saying that she knew that she could bring out the “best” in Ronda Rousey. Stephanie continues, saying that she deserves a “pat on the back” before saying that she knows that they all want her to bring Rousey out there before the Commissioner introduces the woman who made her tap out at WrestleMania as “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey makes her way to the ring. Stephanie admits that Rousey made her tap out at WrestleMania, saying that Ronda was the “better woman” at WrestleMania. Stephanie then says that she got defeated by the “best in the world” and she certainly doesn’t “feel bad” about that. The RAW Commissioner then says that there is “nowhere” they can’t go, saying that she can put the entire “WWE machine” behind Ronda Rousey and, with her in Ronda’s corner, the fans will all support Ronda Rousey. Stephanie continues, saying that Ronda is smarter than all of the fans, saying Ronda is a businesswoman and Rousey taught her a “valuable lesson” at WrestleMania. The Commissioner then asks the fans to give it up for her “friend”, Ronda Rousey. Rousey then shakes Stephanie’s hand and hugs the Commissioner before Ronda’s smile turns to her intimidating glare as “The Baddest Woman on the Planet” grabs Stephanie by the injured arm and takes Stephanie down to the mat once again, taking off the protective brace and tossing it to the side before locking Stephanie in the armbar again, making Stephanie writhe in pain! Ronda then releases the hold as referees and EMT’s rush out to tend to the RAW Commissioner, who is sobbing and in very clear pain. Ronda then heads to the back with a smile on her face as the fans chant “you deserve it” at Stephanie then serenading Stephanie with “nananana, hey hey hey, goodbye” as Stephanie is helped to the back. After defeating former best friend Alexa Bliss at WrestleMania to claim her first RAW Women’s Title, new RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax was set for tag team action on RAW against former champion Alexa Bliss & Mickie James. Before the match, Alexa Bliss would call Nia Jax a “bully” before saying that the new champion loves to “throw her weight around”, saying that Nia beat Mickie James up for “no reason” and she was distraught over it. Alexa continues, saying that she lost because she was competing over “emotional distress”, saying that Nia is as “cold as ice” and that is why Nia doesn’t have a tag team partner tonight. Nia tells Alexa to “shut up” before saying that she enjoyed every second of what she did to Alexa and Mickie at WrestleMania before saying that Alexa is wrong because she does have a partner before introducing the newest arrival to Monday Night RAW, former NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon! The opening match of the night would then see new RAW Women’s Champion Nia Jax and former NXT Women’s Champion Ember Moon take on Alexa Bliss & Mickie James in tag team action. In the end, it was an impressive debut for Ember Moon as Ember would take it to both Alexa Bliss & Mickie James before hitting Alexa with the Eclipse, pinning the former champion to pick up the win for her team. Backstage, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle is confronted by the unusual new RAW Tag Team Champions Braun Strowman and the young kid he chose to be his partner at WrestleMania, Nicholas. Braun & Nicholas reluctantly and voluntarily relinquish the RAW Tag Team Titles as Braun explains that Nicholas has a “scheduling conflict”, pointing out that Nicholas is still in the fourth grade. Strowman then tells Kurt that, once Nicholas is done with school, they are coming to get the titles back with Nicholas screaming that somebody is going to “get these hands”! Braun & Nicholas then exit as Kurt is left holding the RAW Tag Team Titles. The surprises would keep on coming on RAW as the fun-loving party animal known as No Way Jose would make his RAW debut, dancing down to the ring with a colorful array of characters dancing behind him as No Way Jose would face local competitor John Skylar. Jose would make quick work of the local, hitting John Skylar with the windup knockout punch, pinning Skylar for the win. With the RAW Tag Team Titles vacated by Braun Strowman & Nicholas earlier in the night, Kurt Angle would introduce a Tag Team Eliminator Match as Gallows & Anderson would face The Revival with the winners advancing to face another team next week with the ultimate goal of facing Cesaro & Sheamus for the vacant RAW Tag Team Titles at The Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia on April 27. In the end, it was The Revival hitting Karl Anderson with the Shatter Machine with Dash Wilder pinning Karl Anderson to pick up the win and advance in the Tag Team Eliminator series. After besting Finn Balor and The Miz in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania to win his first Intercontinental Title, new Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins would make an appearance on RAW. Rollins says that it’s been a rough couple of years but now he’s a Grand Slam Champion, also pointing out that all three members of the former Shield are now Grand Slam winners. The new Intercontinental Champion then says that it’s the fans that made this whole week “special” before Seth is interrupted by Finn Balor, who says that there’s something he’s got to get off of his chest. Finn admits that Rollins was the “better man” at WrestleMania, saying that there was a “winner”, a “loser”, and then there was him, who was not pinned in the Triple Threat Match. Balor then says that he wants to be the first to challenge Seth Rollins for the Intercontinental Title! Seth and Finn then shake hands before former champion The Miz comes out, with The Miztourage in tow. The Miz says that Seth Rollins does not “deserve it” before saying that he made the Intercontinental Title the “most prestigious title” in WWE. The Miz then says that he had to deviate from his winning strategy of having The Miztourage in his corner to leave no doubt when he beat them at WrestleMania. The Miz continues, saying that he is a “changed man” after the birth of his daughter, claiming that Seth winning the Intercontinental Title made his newborn daughter and his wife cry and their crying made him cry. Rollins says that it’s really big of The Miz to admit that he cried because everyone cries when they see The Miz wrestle, saying that The Miz can’t even lace his boots. Seth then says that, if The Miz wants to invoke his rematch clause, then why don’t they do it right here, right now. However, The Miz refuses, saying that he will get his rematch when he wants to before saying that he wants to get his rematch for the Intercontinental Title at Backlash next month. The Miz then challenges Seth and Finn to face all three of them tonight. Seth and Finn waste no time in dropping their microphones in preparation for the match. However, this would bring out the returning Jeff Hardy, who comes out to stand side-by-side with Seth and Finn! With the sides even, The Miz & The Miztourage would have second thoughts, leaving the ring, wanting no part of the trio of Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and Jeff Hardy. After coming up short in the WrestleMania Women’s Battle Royal on the WrestleMania Kickoff, “The Boss” Sasha Banks would go one-on-one with Absolution’s Mandy Rose, with Paige & Sonya Deville in her corner. Before the match begins, Sasha’s former best friend Bayley would suspiciously make her way to ringside to be in Sasha’s corner. During the match, Mandy Rose would confront Bayley on the outside, shoving Bayley and Bayley would respond by trying to take Mandy out with a clothesline but Mandy would duck and, with the referee distracted by Paige & Sonya Deville, Bayley would inadvertently strike Sasha! This leads to a brief confrontation between Sasha and Bayley on the outside and, when Sasha gets back in the ring, Mandy would take advantage with a knee to the head of “The Boss”, pinning Sasha for the win. After the match, Paige would address the crowd, saying that she has to “come clean” to them. Paige says that it was hard for her to sit on the sidelines during WrestleMania, saying that she loves this ring, she was born to be in the ring and this is her heart and her soul and her blood. Paige then states that, due to neck injuries, she can no longer perform as in-ring competitor. After the crowd chants “thank you Paige”, an emotional Paige says that she wants to thank all the female Superstars in the back before saying that she wants to thank her family and she wants to thank Daniel Bryan, who came back from career-threatening injuries to compete at WrestleMania, saying that Daniel’s return gives her hope. Paige continues, thanking Edge for showing her that there is life outside of wrestling before revealing that she is going to have to go out there and find “something else”. Paige then says that she wants to thank WWE for letting her entertain the fans these last four years, saying that she debuted and won the Divas Championship right there in New Orleans and, four years later, New Orleans is where she wants to retire. Paige then thanks the fans, who applaud and chant “thank you Paige” as well as “this is your house”, before Paige says that this will always be her house. Paige then symbolically lays her t-shirt in the ring before exiting the ring one last time, taking her final bow on the stage before walking to the back. After his WrestleMania performance was interrupted by John Cena, Elias would appear on RAW to try and finish his performance. However, Elias would be interrupted by a shocking return as former ECW Champion Bobby Lashley makes his way to the ring! Elias would try to get the jump on Bobby Lashley, but Lashley would make quick work of Elias, taking Elias out with a neckbreaker before lifting Elias up, showing off his strength before suplexing Elias! Lashley then leaves the ring, having made an emphatic return to WWE. Backstage, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle is surprised to see the unemployed Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn in his office! Owens says that they had a bit of a “falling out” with the management of SmackDown LIVE with Kurt bringing up that Owens & Zayn got fired for beating up the General Manager and the Commissioner. Sami says that there was a personal vendetta on SmackDown LIVE, telling Kurt that the same thing won’t happen on RAW and that they will be “team players”. The GM responds by saying that his tag team division is “full” but he hears that “TNA is hiring”! Owens says that they’re not a tag team, pointing out that Kurt doesn’t have to hire both of them. This leads to an argument between Owens and Zayn with both saying that they’ve got a family to take care of but Owens says that Sami doesn’t have kids. Kurt says that he’s got “one spot” on the roster, saying that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn will have a match tonight with the winner getting a spot on RAW! Heath Slater & Rhyno would then appear on RAW with Heath saying that he’s got kids so he needs this job, calling out any tag team that think that they are “man enough” to take out himself and Rhyno. The challenge would be answered by another surprise debut as former NXT Tag Team Champions The Authors of Pain would be led to the ring by WWE Hall of Famer Paul Ellering! Akam & Rezar would make quick work of Heath Slater & Rhyno with The Authors of Pain hitting Heath Slater with the Last Chapter as Rezar pins Heath for the win. After the match, The Authors of Pain & Paul Ellering would leave the ring, but Akam & Rezar would stop Ellering from following them to the back, symbolically leaving the WWE Hall of Famer behind! After being bloodied and battered by Universal Champion Brock Lesnar one night earlier at WrestleMania with a rematch against “The Beast” set for The Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27 where he will challenge Brock for the Universal Title in a Steel Cage Match, “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns would make his way to the ring. Roman says that Brock Lesnar is not here, saying that Lesnar is “one hell of a businessman” for making everyone think he was leaving for UFC before re-signing with WWE after WrestleMania. Roman then says that he didn’t even know about his rematch with Brock Lesnar inside a steel cage until he found out about it on the internet! Reigns continues, saying that he doesn’t know what the “story is” but, if they keep booking him in matches against Brock Lesnar, the story will end with him beating Brock Lesnar and taking the Universal Title. Roman then starts to leave the ring before he is confronted by the returning Samoa Joe. Joe says that Brock “exposed” Roman at WrestleMania, saying that Reigns has been saying for months that he was the only one who could beat Brock Lesnar, calling Reigns a “failure” and “liar”. Joe continues, saying that Roman gets “broken” every time he faces Brock Lesnar while Brock gets “richer”. Joe then says that, when Reigns fails to beat Brock Lesnar again, he will be waiting at Backlash to put Roman Reigns “to sleep”. After Bray Wyatt returned during the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal on the WrestleMania Kickoff to help former rival “Woken” Matt Hardy win the battle royal, the unusual new team of “Woken” Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt would face Apollo & Titus O’Neil, with Dana Brooke in their corner, in a Tag Team Eliminator Match. In the end, it was Bray Wyatt tossing Apollo to Matt Hardy, who hits the Twist of Fate, pinning Apollo to pick up the win for Matt & Bray, who will face The Revival on next week’s RAW for a shot at the RAW Tag Team Titles at The Greatest Royal Rumble. After Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn failed to get reinstated to SmackDown LIVE at WrestleMania, Kevin Owens would go one-on-one with Sami Zayn on RAW with the winner earning a spot on the RAW roster. During a hotly contested matchup that would see Sami Zayn hit the Helluva Kick as well as Kevin Owens hit the Pop-Up Powerbomb, Kevin Owens would hit Sami Zayn with a package suplex off of the top rope but this move would leave both Owens and Zayn down for a count of ten, ending the match in a double count-out, meaning that neither man gets a RAW contract! Then it was time for the main event as the team of new Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and the returning Jeff Hardy would face The Miz & The Miztourage in a 6-Man Tag match. In the end, it was Seth Rollins scoring with the Curb Stomp to The Miz, pinning The Miz to pick up the win for his team. After the match, Jeff Hardy would hit Bo Dallas with the Twist of Fate. Finn then follows this up with the Coup de Grace before Jeff hits Bo with the Swanton Bomb. Curtis Axel then gets his punishment as Seth Rollins catches Axel with a super kick before Finn hits Axel with the Coup de Grace. Jeff then heads up again, hitting the Swanton Bomb with Rollins putting the finishing touches on The Miztourage with a Curb Stomp to Curtis Axel. Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, and Jeff Hardy then stand tall in the ring, having more than taken care of The Miz & The Miztourage. What did you think of the RAW after WrestleMania?
