WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: March 13, 2018By Cassidy| March 19, 2018 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results SmackDown LIVE kicks off with the WWE Champion in action as “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles would go one-on-one with “The Lion of Bulgaria” Rusev, with Aiden English in his corner, in a non-title match with AJ Styles’ WrestleMania opponent Shinsuke Nakamura seated at ringside. During the match, AJ Styles would manage to lock Rusev in the Calf Crusher, but Aiden English was quick to pounce on the WWE Champion, ending the match in a disqualification. Rusev & Aiden English would then look to beat AJ Styles down but Shinsuke Nakamura would come to the aid of his WrestleMania opponent, dropping English with a kick before delivering the Kinshasa to Rusev. Nakamura then glances at Styles before “The Artist” leaves the ring and heads to the back. After The Bludgeon Brothers interrupted the SmackDown Tag Team Title match between The Usos and The New Day at Fastlane where Harper & Rowan put Jey Uso, Xavier Woods, and Kofi Kingston on the shelf, the remnants of the two teams would join forces to combat the hammer-wielding monsters as SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso would team with The New Day’s Big E would face The Bludgeon Brothers in tag team action. Before the match can begin, Jimmy and Big E would take the fight to The Bludgeon Brothers on the outside before Jimmy and Big E grab steel chairs and dare Harper & Rowan to face them. The Bludgeon Brothers would turn around grab their hammers, bringing them into the ring with Harper & Rowan using their hammers to knock the chairs out of the hands of their opposition before Jimmy and Big E get out of the ring. Referees are then able to get the situation under control and the scheduled tag team match gets underway. In the end, it was The Bludgeon Brothers continuing their domination as Harper & Rowan plant Jimmy Uso with a double sit-out powerbomb with Rowan pinning Jimmy for the win. After the match, The Bludgeon Brothers would leave the ring to prey on Big E as Harper would squash Big E against the barricade before Harper throws Big E to Rowan, who levels Big E with a big cross body. The Bludgeon Brothers then head up the ramp with their hammers over their shoulders, having continued their destruction of The Usos and The New Day. After learning at Fastlane that she will be defending the SmackDown Women’s Title against 2018 Women’s Royal Rumble Match winner Asuka at WrestleMania, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair would address Asuka on SmackDown LIVE. Charlotte says that she knows that Asuka was going to be there tonight so she wanted to be there to meet Asuka face-to-face. This brings out “The Empress of Tomorrow”, who makes her SmackDown LIVE debut to confront her WrestleMania opponent. Charlotte says that she is often asked what would happen if she went one-on-one with Asuka and they’re going to get the answer to that question at WrestleMania. The champion continues, saying that she wanted to face Asuka and she got “goosebumps” when Asuka’s music hit at Fastlane. Charlotte then says that she has never faced anyone like Asuka and Asuka has never faced anyone like her before vowing that she will end Asuka’s streak at WrestleMania and cement her “legacy”. Asuka responds by saying that she chose Charlotte because she likes a “challenge” before saying that Asuka “bows to no one” before declaring that “no one is ready for Asuka”. After defeating Bobby Roode at Fastlane to win the United States Title for the first time in his illustrious career, new United States Champion Randy Orton would appear on SmackDown LIVE to address his title win. Orton says that he’s been called a lot of things throughout his career but the one thing that he’s never been called until now is United States Champion before saying that he is on the short, illustrious list of WWE Superstars who can call themselves a Grand Slam Champion and that’s a list he actually cares about. Orton then says that Bobby Roode earned his “respect” at Fastlane but the United States Title is his now, saying that he’s taking the title to WrestleMania and “nobody” is going to stop him. This brings out the former champion, Bobby Roode, who reminds Randy Orton that he is owed a rematch for the United States Title and he is getting that rematch on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” WrestleMania and, when he regains the United States Title, it’s going to be absolutely “glorious”. This brings out Jinder Mahal, with Sunil Singh by his side, as Jinder says that, tonight, he is going to beat Bobby Roode just like he beat Randy Orton last week, saying that he’s going to “inflict carnage” on Bobby Roode. With new United States Champion Randy Orton seated at ringside, “Glorious” Bobby Roode would go one-on-one with “The Modern Day Maharaja” Jinder Mahal, with Sunil Singh in his corner. During the match, Sunil Singh would get in Bobby Roode’s way and Roode would take the time to talk Sunil out, but the distraction would be enough for Jinder Mahal to take advantage, racking Roode up on the top rope before planting Roode with the Khallas, pinning “The Glorious One” to pick up the win. However, there would be no time for Jinder Mahal to celebrate as Randy Orton would quickly enter the ring and hit “The Modern Day Maharaja” with the RKO, leaving the new United States Champion standing tall. “Ms. Money-in-the-Bank” was in action on SmackDown LIVE as Carmella would go one-on-one with Naomi. In the end, it was Carmella knocking Naomi off of the second rope, quickly pinning Naomi to pick up the win. After getting involved in the Six Pack Challenge for the WWE Title at Fastlane, costing Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn the title, SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon would make an appearance on SmackDown LIVE to make a WrestleMania announcement. Shane says that he has had many conversations with SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan, saying that Daniel will be returning next week before announcing that, effective immediately after tonight’s show, he will be taking an “indefinite leave of absence” as SmackDown LIVE Commissioner! Shane then says that, before he takes his leave of absence, he is announcing that Kevin Owens will be going one-on-one with Sami Zayn at WrestleMania. This brings out Kevin Owens, who says that he can “beat the hell” out of Sami Zayn anytime he wants to before Sami Zayn interrupts. Glaring at Owens on his way to the ring, Sami would tell Shane “thank god that you’re leaving” and the Commissioner responds by saying that he just gave them a match on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” WrestleMania. Owens then says that they appreciate that before saying that they think that he will appreciate this. This is when Sami Zayn would attack Shane from behind as Owens and Zayn commence a brutal two-on-one beatdown on the Commissioner with Sami delivering the Helluva Kick to Shane before Owens follows it up with the Pop-Up Powerbomb. This is when a group of referees would come out to try and break it up but Owens and Zayn would attack the two referees that enter the ring. Owens then brings Shane to the outside before Sami brings a steel chair over as Owens places the chair around the neck of Shane McMahon, shoving the Commissioner throat-first into the ring post! The heinous attack was not through there, however, as Owens and Zayn would drag Shane to the backstage area where Owens and Zayn would deliver a two-man powerbomb onto some steel equipment! Owens and Zayn then back off as a referee and EMT’s tend to Shane as the Commissioner desperately gasps for air. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown LIVE? Post your comments in the box below.
