WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: February 6, 2018By Cassidy| February 7, 2018 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results SmackDown LIVE kicks off with SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon as Shane says that, normally, he would be “ecstatic” about seeing Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn fight each other but he’s not. Shane then says that the winner will challenge AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Fastlane next month, saying that Owens and Zayn do not deserve another shot at the title but there is one person who he respects very much that thinks that they do deserve another shot. The Commissioner then introduces SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan, who joins Shane in the ring. Shane then says that he and Daniel listen to all of the fans and, when they think that a certain Superstar deserves an opportunity, it’s their “job” to give the Superstar that opportunity. Shane then says that the reason that he had Daniel come out there is because he doesn’t think that the GM is “listening”, saying that Daniel keeps giving the same two Superstars opportunity after opportunity and he thinks that the fans may want to see someone else get a WWE Title opportunity. Daniel says that the referee made a “mistake” at the Royal Rumble so he decided to turn a “negative” into a “positive” so he made the match between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn so they could earn an “opportunity”. The GM then comments that the thought that pitting two of Shane’s least favorite Superstars against each other would earn him a well-deserved pay raise. The Commissioner says that he’s looking forward to Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn tearing each other apart but what bothers him is Daniel’s decision to “reward” them by continuing to give them WWE Title opportunities. Shane then says that Daniel Bryan changed the WWE landscape “forever” with his “Yes Movement” a few years ago, saying that Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn’s “Yep Movement” is a “cheap imitation” of the greatest thing that Daniel Bryan has ever created. Shane continues, saying that he doesn’t want Daniel to allow Owens & Zayn to “manipulate” Daniel anymore. Shane then says that he knows that, more than anything else in the world, Daniel would love to compete in this ring. The GM then interrupts, asking Shane what exactly it is that he’s doing before the Commissioner says that it’s very “plain to see” that Daniel is “living vicariously” through Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The tense confrontation is then interrupted by WWE Champion AJ Styles, who makes his way to the ring. AJ says that he was put on this planet to be “phenomenal” and he was “built for the grind” but what he can’t deal with is SmackDown LIVE management “obsessing” over Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. AJ then says that he doesn’t care who wins in the main event, telling Shane and Daniel to stay out of his way because he controls his own “destiny” and he makes his own luck and he will walk out of Fastlane and into WrestleMania as the WWE Champion. AJ then leaves the ring, having made his stance on things perfectly clear. After a beatdown from The Riott Squad nearly cost Charlotte Flair the SmackDown Women’s Title last week, Charlotte Flair would get her shot at revenge in the opening match of the night as the SmackDown Women’s Champion would go one-on-one with The Riott Squad’s Liv Morgan, with Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan in her corner, in a non-title match. During the match, Sarah Logan would get on the ring apron and Charlotte Flair would knock Sarah off of the ring apron but the distraction would give Ruby Riott the opportunity to pull Liv Morgan to the outside. The referee sees this and decides to eject Ruby Riott & Sarah Logan from ringside and, moments later, Charlotte would lock in the Figure Eight on Liv Morgan, making Liv tap out to pick up the win. The Bludgeon Brothers were in action on SmackDown LIVE as Harper & Rowan would face two local competitors in tag team action. It was another dominant victory for The Bludgeon Brothers as Harper & Rowan would hit one of the local competitors with their double arm lift powerbomb with Rowan pinning the local competitor for the win. After the match, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos would come down to ringside as the two teams glare at each other before The Usos enter the ring. Backstage, SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan presents the first ever SmackDown LIVE Top 10 Superstars List. The Top 10 List is a list established by the SmackDown LIVE Superstars themselves with Superstars unable to vote for themselves and neither he or Shane McMahon had any input on how the list was compiled. Daniel then reveals that #10 on the SmackDown LIVE Top 10 Superstars list is “The Perfect Ten” Tye Dillinger followed by Randy Orton at #9, Becky Lynch at #8, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos at #7, The New Day at #6, United States Champion Bobby Roode at #5, Naomi at #4, Shinsuke Nakamura at #3, SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at #2, and WWE Champion AJ Styles is at the top of the list at #1. The United States Championship would then be on the line on SmackDown LIVE as “Glorious” Bobby Roode would defend the United States Title against “The Lion of Bulgaria” Rusev, with Aiden English in his corner. During the match, Aiden English would get on the ring apron, distracting Bobby Roode long enough for Rusev to take advantage with the Machka Kick but the champion would kick out. In the end, it was Bobby Roode avoiding the Accolade before planting Rusev with the Glorious DDT, pinning Rusev to pick up the win and successfully retain the United States Title. After the match, Bobby Roode was about to celebrate another successful title defense when he is caught out of nowhere with an RKO out of nowhere from Randy Orton! “The Viper” then sets his sights on Aiden English, dropping Aiden with an RKO as well before a stunned Rusev gets to his feet just in time for an RKO from Orton! “The Viper” then stands tall in the ring, raising a lot of questions regarding Orton’s motivations. In tag team action, Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin would face The Ascension on SmackDown LIVE. In the end, it was Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin hitting Viktor with the double team powerbomb neckbreaker with Benjamin pinning Viktor to pick up the win for his team. Then it was time for the main event as best friends would collide with Kevin Owens going one-on-one with Sami Zayn with the winner challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Title at Fastlane with WWE Champion AJ Styles a guest on commentary. During the match, Sami Zayn would get in AJ Styles’ face on the outside and this would provoke the WWE Champion as AJ would shove Sami into Kevin Owens before Styles decks both Zayn and Owens with right hands, bringing an end to the match. After the match, Sami would try to escape into the ring but AJ would follow Sami, putting the boots to Zayn before Sami rolls out of the ring. Owens then tries to attack Styles but the WWE Champion catches Owens with a right hand, sending Owens out of the ring. AJ then takes flight, diving to the outside to take out both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. The frustrated champion then gets back into the ring before Daniel Bryan comes out to the stage to announce that, due to the “superlative performances” of both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as well as the outside interference from AJ Styles, AJ Styles will once again defend the WWE Title against both Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn but, this time, it will be every man for himself in a Triple Threat Match.
