WWE RAW Results: January 8, 2018By Cassidy| January 9, 2018 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results Following a gutsy Intercontinental Title defense against Samoa Joe last week, RAW kicks off with Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns. Roman says that he “silenced” Samoa Joe last week and he didn’t beat Joe because he’s better than Joe, he was victorious because he was fighting for his “brother” Dean Ambrose. Roman then says that, if you mess with one member of The Shield, you mess with all of them. The Intercontinental Champion is then interrupted by one-half of the RAW Tag Team Champions Jason Jordan. Jason says that he agrees with Reigns, saying that when you mess with one of “us”, you mess with all of us before saying that Roman proved last week that this is his “yard”. Jordan then says that, on behalf of his tag team partner Seth Rollins, he wants to say “thank you” before extending the Shield fist out to Reigns. This brings out the other half of the RAW Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins, saying that they are really going to have to work on Jason’s “timing”. Seth says that Jordan is stepping on Roman’s moment right now before Jason says that they all have their issues with Samoa Joe and Roman took care of Joe last week, saying that they “run this show”. Reigns says that Jason is tag team champions with Seth and he is “the guy”. Jason then jumps in, saying that they are all champions, asking who is better than them before saying that they’re not quite The Shield but they’re “pretty good”. Jason continues, saying that they might be the “most dominant three-man group” in WWE. This brings out the newly reunited Balor Club as Finn Balor, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson come out of the stage. Finn says that he was running with Gallows & Anderson before Jason Jordan even knew that Kurt Angle was his dad. Karl Anderson says that they have been running with their “good brother” for years before Luke Gallows before saying that, when they came to WWE, they decide to stand on their own and they did just that. Anderson then says that they knew that, sooner or later, they would reunite and “take this place over” with Finn adding that 2018 is the “year of Balor Club”. Much to the embarrassment of Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, Jason Jordan says that he’s happy to be a part of the “champions club”. Balor Club responds by calling Jason Jordan a “nerd” and Jason responds by getting in Luke Gallows’ face, with both sides having to step in to prevent a brawl. RAW General Manager Kurt Angle then comes out to the stage to announce that the main event will see Balor Club face the team of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan in a 6-Man Tag Match. As the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble Match draws near, the opening match of the night would see Sasha Banks & Bayley, with Mickie James in their corner, face Absolution’s Mandy Rose & Sonya Deville, with Paige in their corner. In the end, it was Sasha Banks locking in the Bank Statement on Mandy Rose, making Mandy tap out to pick up the win for herself and Bayley much to the dismay of Paige. For the first time since becoming “Woken”, Matt Hardy would be in action on RAW as Matt would go one-on-one with Curt Hawkins. In the end, it was Matt Hardy hitting Curt Hawkins with the Twist of Fate, pinning Hawkins for the win. After the match, Bray Wyatt would make his presence felt, appearing in the ring behind Matt Hardy. Matt would turn around to look Bray in the face, laughing in the face of “The Eater of Worlds” with Bray laughing at Matt in return. This leaves both strange Superstars laughing maniacally at the other in the middle of the ring. With a special musical introduction courtesy of Elias, Memphis would bear witness to the return of “The A-Lister” as The Miz would make his return on RAW, making his way to the ring with The Miztourage in tow for Miz TV. The Miz says that he is the “glue” that holds RAW together and he was not forgotten in his absence thanks to two men, introducing Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel as his guests. Curtis Axel says 2017 was the “best year” of his life before Bo Dallas says that having The Miz embark his wisdom on Bo in 2017 was like winning a “Mizzy” every day. Bo then presents The Miz with a framed picture of The Miz, commenting that it’s going to be hard to get to sleep without it. Doing his best to cover for not getting The Miz a gift, Curtis Axel would carefully remove his sports coat, presenting it to The Miz as his gift. The battle of one-upsmanship would continue with Bo Dallas giving The Miz his watch followed by Curtis Axel trying to give The Miz his shoes. This would spark an argument between Bo and Curtis before The Miz takes control of the situation, telling The Miztourage to sit down, which they do. The Miz says that he held the Intercontinental Championship for 200 days in 2017, pointing out that he was Rolling Stones’ Superstar of the Year. The Miz then says that he has not forgotten what happened to him the last time he was on RAW, showing footage from two months ago when The Shield put him through the announce table. The Miz then says that he let Roman Reigns “borrow” his Intercontinental Championship because he wanted the Intercontinental Title to become bigger than him in his absence. The Miz continues, saying that the “champion makes the title” before saying that “daddy’s home”, saying that, in 2018, he will celebrate the birth of his daughter and, in 2018, he will become the “longest reigning, single greatest Intercontinental Champion of all-time”. The Miz continues, saying that he will become the one and only person synonymous with the Intercontinental Title. The Miz then says that he hopes that Roman Reigns has enjoyed his time with the Intercontinental Title because it’s all coming to an end. The Miz then declares that he is back and he is coming for the Intercontinental Championship, telling Roman Reigns to “believe that”. The Miz & The Miztourage then exit the ring with The Miz having made an emphatic proclamation for 2018. The Cruiserweight Championship would then be on the line on RAW as Enzo Amore would defend 205 Live’s top prize against Cedric Alexander. During the match, a kick from Cedric Alexander would bloody the eye of Enzo Amore and, shortly after this, a dive from Cedric Alexander would cause Enzo to crumble awkwardly on the outside, appearing to hurt his ankle. Cedric then makes it back into the ring but, being worse for wear, Enzo would opt to take a count-out loss to hang onto his Cruiserweight Title but not unscathed. After finding out that they will get their rematch for the RAW Tag Team Titles at the Royal Rumble, Cesaro & Sheamus would face Titus O’Neil & Apollo Crews, with Dana Brooke in their corner, in tag team action. In the end, it was Apollo Crews taking Cesaro out on the outside while Titus O’Neil catches Sheamus off-guard with a roll-up as Titus O’Neil & Apollo Crews pick up a huge upset over the former champions! After last week’s RAW ended with Kane chokeslamming Brock Lesnar only for Brock to sit up before a brawl ensued, Universal Champion Brock Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman would make an appearance on RAW. Paul Heyman says that this is a “progressive industry”, saying that WWE is always in need of fresh, innovative ways to present the product and advertising of the product. Heyman then says that the “old school way” of promoting a World Title match is finding a challenger capable of taking the reigning champion down. The advocate continues, saying that Brock took Kane’s best shot last week and laughed in Kane’s face and Brock is going to do the same at the Royal Rumble when he defends the Universal Title against Braun Strowman and Kane in a Triple Threat Match. Heyman then says that Brock Lesnar walks into the Royal Rumble with the “cliffhanger” of if Brock will pin Kane, if he will pin Braun, or if he will stack them up and pin them both. Heyman then declares that there is not a “being alive” that can put Brock Lesnar down. “The Beast” and his advocate then exit the ring but, when Brock gets to the stage, Kane attacks the Universal Champion from behind, sparking a brawl between the two big men that spills into the backstage area. This is when Braun Strowman abruptly joins the fray, leveling both Brock and Kane before “The Monster Among Men” literally hurls Brock Lesnar into some nearby equipment cases, sending Brock crashing through a table with a case bouncing off of his head! Braun then picks up the anvil case, blasting Kane in the face with the heavy box before flattening “The Big Red Machine” with the case! Braun then finds a grappling hook nearby, grappling onto a huge steel set piece, bringing the multi-ton steel structure down on top of Brock Lesnar and Kane, much to the horror of Paul Heyman and other on-lookers! Brock is then helped from underneath the structure, being loaded on a stretcher and into an ambulance despite telling Paul Heyman that he does not want to leave the arena in that way. Meanwhile, Kane crawls out from under the steel structure under his own accord, stumbling off into the depths of the arena. After coming up short in his Intercontinental Title match against Roman Reigns, RAW would see Samoa Joe go one-on-one with Rhyno, with Heath Slater in his corner. In the end, it was Samoa Joe locking in the Coquina Clutch, making Rhyno tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Samoa Joe is interviewed about his loss to Roman Reigns with Joe saying that, when it all comes tumbling down for Roman Reigns, he is going to be there to “finish the job”. Joe then says that, until that time, he is going to pursue “more worthy things” before announcing his entry into the Royal Rumble Match! Joe then specifically calls out fellow Royal Rumble Match entrant John Cena, saying that Cena’s name is a name he will “never forget” before vowing that, in the Royal Rumble Match, John Cena will be the first man he eliminates! Asuka was scheduled to compete on RAW but “The Empress of Tomorrow” would get ambushed in the ring by the newest entrant in the Women’s Royal Rumble Match, Nia Jax! Nia would take Asuka down before hitting a big senton on Asuka, leaving Asuka down in the ring as Nia makes an emphatic statement ahead of the Royal Rumble. Then it was time for the main event as the newly reunited Balor Club of Finn Balor, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson would face Intercontinental Champion Roman Reigns and RAW Tag Team Champions Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan in a 6-Man Tag match. During the match, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor would both find themselves down in the ring and in need of a tag. As Seth crawls to try and tag in Roman Reigns, Jason Jordan would inexplicably enter the ring to argue with the referee, which would keep the referee from seeing Seth tag in Roman and the referee would not let Roman into the match legally. Amidst the confusion, Gallows & Anderson would hit Seth Rollins with the Magic Killer before Roman takes down Gallows & Anderson. Roman then argues with Jason Jordan before Gallows & Anderson pull the Intercontinental Champion out of the ring with Roman taking Anderson out with the Superman Punch before leveling Gallows with the Spear. Meanwhile, in the ring, Finn Balor knocks Jason Jordan off of the ring apron before Finn hits Rollins with the Coup de Grace, pinning Seth to pick up the win for Balor Club. After the match, Roman Reigns was clearly upset with Jason Jordan and, with the trio vulnerable, The Miz & The Miztourage would strike, taking out Seth Rollins & Jason Jordan on the outside. The Miz & The Miztourage then target Roman Reigns in the ring, beating the Intercontinental Champion down before The Miz plants Roman with the Skull Crushing Finale in the middle of the ring. However, “The A-Lister” was not through there as The Miz & The Miztourage would pick Roman Reigns up for a Shield Powerbomb to the Intercontinental Champion! The Miz & The Miztourage then stand tall over Reigns as The Miz leaves a lasting impression on Roman Reigns ahead of their rematch for the Intercontinental Championship in two weeks.
