WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: October 10, 2017By Cassidy| October 16, 2017 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Two nights after surviving a grueling Hell in a Cell Match against The New Day’s Big E & Xavier Woods to become the brand new SmackDown Tag Team Champions, SmackDown LIVE kicks off with the new champions The Usos. The Usos proclaim that they have the SmackDown LIVE Tag Team Division “on lock”, welcoming everyone to the “Uso penitentiary”. The new champions then admit that Hell in a Cell changes people and, with that in mind, they want The New Day to come out there because they have something to say to the faces of the former champions. With Big E & Xavier Woods visibly hurting from the war on Sunday, The New Day make their way to the ring to confront The Usos. The Usos tell The New Day that they made “history” at WWE Hell in a Cell and, compared to them, the other teams in the back “suck”. The champions continue, saying that what the fans know for a fact is that, when The Usos and The New Day step in the ring, they make it hard for anyone else to follow them. The Usos then say that the fans don’t see them driving to the hotel or their family calling to see if they’re okay before saying that the only ones who can relate to what they went through are The New Day. The Usos then say that, together, they “run” the tag division and they “are” the tag division. Conflicted, Xavier Woods asks if The Usos are asking for a “truce” and The Usos respond by saying that what they’re trying to say is “respect”. However, just as The Usos and The New Day are about to shake hands, they’re interrupted by The Hype Bros as Mojo Rawley says it’s the same two teams every week, taking all the credit and leaving the rest of the division out in the cold. The Usos respond by asking if Mojo is mad that they beat them a few weeks ago, telling Mojo to stick to the “sidelines” like he did for most of his NFL career! This brings out Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin as Chad Gable says that they aren’t out there to complain, telling The Hype Bros that they belong in the “back of the line”, reminding The Hype Bros that they beat them on the WWE Hell in a Cell Kickoff. The Usos say that Chad Gable went out and got him a Shelton Benjamin, but telling Gable & Benjamin to go to the “back of the line”. Breezango then come out, but before “The Fashion Police” can even speak, The Ascension come out to the stage. Konnor says that they’re tired of being “stuck in the wasteland” before The Usos interrupt, saying that, if they all want a shot at the SmackDown Tag Team Titles, then why don’t they come in the ring and “make one”. This brings out SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan, who says that tonight is “not a great night” for this, telling The Usos and The New Day to “please get out of the ring” much to the chagrin of the crowd. The GM then announces that Breezango, The Ascension, The Hype Bros, and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin that the four teams will face off right now to determine the #1 Contenders to the SmackDown Tag Team Titles! With SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos watching from ringside, the opening match of the night would see Breezango, The Ascension, The Hype Bros, and Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin compete in a Fatal 4-Way Tag Match where the winners will become the #1 Contenders for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. During a chaotic match, The Hype Bros would set Tyler Breeze up for the Hype Ryder, but Viktor would shove Zack Ryder off of the middle rope as Ryder collides with Mojo Rawley. This sparks an argument among The Hype Bros before Konnor sacrifices himself to take Mojo out of the ring. Tyler Breeze then nearly surprises Zack Ryder with a roll-up, but Ryder kicks out before Fandango saves Breeze from the Broski Boot. Shelton Benjamin then tags himself into the match before Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin work together to take out the opposition with Benjamin taking Viktor out with a spinebuster before Gable takes out Fandango with an exploder suplex. Benjamin then plants Mojo with a spinebuster before Gable delivers an exploder suplex to Tyler Breeze. Benjamin then hits a spinebuster on Konnor before Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin set Tyler Breeze up for their double team finisher but Fandango intervenes, sending Gable to the floor. Breeze then catches Benjamin with a kick to the head before Fandango goes for the Last Dance off of the top rope, but Shelton rolls out of the way before Gable hits a moonsault on Fandango. Benjamin then lifts up Breeze as Gable comes off of the top rope with the neckbreaker with Benjamin pinning Breeze to pick up the win for Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin as Gable & Benjamin earn a future shot at the SmackDown Tag Team Titles! After the match, Chad Gable & Shelton Benjamin would stare down The Usos, no doubt eyeing the SmackDown Tag Team Titles. Backstage, a confrontation between SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya, Tamina & Lana, and “Ms. Money-in-the-Bank” Carmella is interrupted by Charlotte Flair and, after Natalya asks Charlotte if she broke her “pathetic father’s heart” again. This enrages Charlotte, who catches the champion with a forearm before a brawl breaks out between, not only Charlotte and Natalya, but the rest of the SmackDown LIVE Women’s Division as well, including Tamina, Carmella, Becky Lynch, and Naomi before referees rush in to try and break it up. Referees are then able to pull Charlotte off of Natalya to break things up for the time being. Moments after they were part of a backstage brawl with the rest of the SmackDown LIVE Women’s Division, “The Irish Lass Kicker” Becky Lynch would go one-on-one with “Ms. Money-in-the-Bank” Carmella, with James Ellsworth leashed to the ring post at ringside. In the end, it was Becky Lynch locking Carmella in the Dis-Arm-Her, making “Ms. Money-in-the-Bank” tap out to pick up the win. Two nights after his unforgettable Falls Count Anywhere Hell in a Cell Match against Shane McMahon that ended with Sami Zayn saving him from Shane’s dive off of the Cell and putting him on top of Shane to ultimately get the win, Kevin Owens would be bandaged up and limping as he makes an appearance on SmackDown LIVE. Kevin Owens says that, at WWE Hell in a Cell, he did exactly what he said he was going to do when he sent Shane McMahon to “hell” before Owens claims that the SmackDown LIVE Commissioner is “gone” and he’s “never coming back”. Owens then says that he was “blinded” by that “white light” you hear about, saying that he was waiting in line at the “pearly gates” but he was waved to the front of the line by “Saint Peter himself”. Owens then claims that Saint Peter said that he is needed back on Earth and he was even given his own “guardian angel” in the form of Sami Zayn. Owens continues, saying that the experience made him realize his “new purpose” and that new purpose is to turn SmackDown LIVE into his own personal “paradise” or, as he likes to call it, “The Kevin Owens Show”. Kevin Owens then introduces his “best friend” and his “guardian angel” Sami Zayn, who joins Kevin Owens in the ring. Owens first tells Sami “thank you” before Sami says that he tried to be a “good guy” but it brought him to “mediocrity” while Kevin Owens won multiple titles. Sami then says that he truly thought that his time had come when Shane McMahon gave him the opportunity to come to the “land of opportunity” SmackDown LIVE, saying that Shane promised that SmackDown LIVE would give him the “respect” that he deserved. Sami Zayn continues, saying that was the last meeting he ever had with Shane McMahon but he just put a smile on his face every week. Sami then says that, a few weeks ago, he confronted Shane McMahon backstage and tried to warn the SmackDown LIVE Commissioner what Kevin Owens is capable of but Shane brushed Sami off, telling Sami “you worry about you and I’ll worry about me”. Sami says that this is when he realized that Shane “never cared” about him and never really wanted him to get an opportunity. Sami continues, saying that he wanted Shane McMahon to win, saying that, after knocking Kevin Owens off the side of the Hell in a Cell through the Spanish announce table, Shane had Owens beat. Sami then says that, instead of ending the match, Shane decided to climb up to the top of the Cell before saying that Kevin Owens has been and always will be his “brother”. Sami then says that, when Shane climbed to the top of the Cell, he didn’t care about anyone but himself and he saved his “brother” because it was the “right thing to do”, calling Shane a “psychopath”. Sami continues, saying that he thought that he “despised” Kevin Owens but now he realizes that he despises that Kevin Owens was “right” and, now, there’s nothing left to say but “thank you”. The two men who were bitter enemies for several years then seemingly put it all behind them by hugging it out in the ring before Kevin Owens raises the hand of Sami Zayn only for Sami to return the favor by raising the hand of his “brother”, Kevin Owens. Owens and Zayn then take turns raising each other’s hands, re-solidifying their best friendship and their brotherhood. After defeating Rusev at WWE Hell in a Cell, SmackDown LIVE would see “The Viper” Randy Orton team up with “The Artist” Shinsuke Nakamura to face “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev and “The Renaissance Man” Aiden English. In the end, it was Randy Orton taking Rusev out with the RKO, which would allow Shinsuke Nakamura to hit Aiden English with the Kinshasa, pinning English to pick up the win for himself and Randy Orton. After hooking the tights to get the win over Dolph Ziggler at WWE Hell in a Cell only to get taken out with the Zig Zag after the match, “Glorious” Bobby Roode would make an appearance on SmackDown LIVE. Bobby Roode proclaims that his first main roster pay-per-view match was “glorious” before Dolph Ziggler attacked him from behind after the match, saying that, if Dolph wants a fight, then “let’s fight”. This brings Dolph Ziggler out to the stage, who calls himself the “greatest in-ring performer in WWE history” before saying that he exposed Bobby Roode as a “fraud” at WWE Hell in a Cell, saying that he was the “better man”. Dolph then says that Roode “panicked” and did the only thing he could do to beat Ziggler, calling Roode a “cheater”. Roode argues that he’s smarter than Dolph but Dolph responds by saying that he’s the “smartest man alive”, demanding a rematch against Bobby Roode “anytime, anyplace”. Roode says that, if Dolph wants his rematch, then he’s got it but it’s going to go the same way their first match went. Roode then says that, if Dolph is done “whining and complaining”, then they should have their rematch right now. However, Dolph refuses to have the rematch tonight, saying that he will choose when they have their rematch. Then it was time for the main event as, after taking advantage of the rules of a Triple Threat Match by stealing the pinfall from AJ Styles on Tye Dillinger to win the United States Title, Baron Corbin would make his first defense of the United States Title against former champion AJ Styles. During the match, AJ Styles would lock in the Calf Crusher on Baron Corbin but the champion is able to fight out. Shortly after this, Baron Corbin tosses AJ Styles off of the ring apron to the floor before bringing AJ back into the ring, hitting Styles with the End of Days, pinning “The Phenomenal One” to successfully retain the United States Title. After the match, Baron Corbin was interviewed about his successful title defense as Corbin says that the United States Title is his and it’s not going anywhere, saying the fans can cry and he will buy a boat and float down a river of their tears because he enjoys “every second of it”.
