WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: September 19, 2017By Cassidy| September 20, 2017 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results After having to witness Kevin Owens brutally assault his 72-year old father last week, SmackDown LIVE would kick off with the return of SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon, who will go one-on-one with Kevin Owens inside Hell in a Cell at next month’s WWE Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. Shane says that his father is “one tough, salty S.O.B.” before admitting that he and Vince have had their differences, but Mr. McMahon is still his father and he loves him. Shane then tells Kevin Owens to imagine sitting at home with his kids and having to watch his father beaten up by a “coward”, asking Owens how that would make him feel. The Commissioner continues, saying that, whenever someone disparages or crosses the line with any McMahon, the entire family will strike back with “massive vengeance”. Shane then says that Kevin Owens does not realize what he has done or, perhaps, Owens does realize what he’s done since he is there in the middle of the ring and Kevin Owens is not. Shane goes on, saying that he “condemns” Kevin Owens to a “life of pain and suffering” and he condemns Kevin Owens to Hell in a Cell! The Commissioner then leaves the ring, making it clear that hell hath no fury like a son scorned. In the opening match of the night, thirteen-time former World Champion Randy Orton would go one-on-one with Aiden English. During the match, Aiden English would come off of the second rope, but Randy Orton would catch Aiden out of mid-air with the RKO, pinning English to pick up the win. After the match, Rusev would come out to confront Randy Orton, saying that his ten-second loss to Orton at SummerSlam made him and his family into a “national disgrace” in Bulgaria. Rusev then says that, tonight, he is going to “rip the fangs” out of the mouth of “The Viper”. With this, Rusev marches to the ring as the referee rings the bell, apparently starting an impromptu SummerSlam rematch between Rusev and Randy Orton! As soon as the match begins, Orton would block a kick from Rusev before Rusev counters the RKO, shoving Randy away. This is when Aiden English would get on the ring apron before getting knocked off of the apron by Orton. However, the brief distraction would give Rusev the opportunity to blast “The Viper” with a Machka Kick, pinning Orton in roughly 12.5 seconds to avenge his quick loss at SummerSlam. Backstage, an absolutely beaming Rusev is interviewed by Renee Young, who says proudly proclaims “I beat him” before saying that, now, he can return to Bulgaria as a “conquering hero” before walking off while chanting “Rusev number one”. With an upcoming defense of the WWE Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura at WWE Hell in a Cell, WWE Champion Jinder Mahal, along with The Singh Brothers, would make an appearance on SmackDown LIVE. Much like last week, the WWE Champion would continue his low brow jokes at the expense of Shinsuke Nakamura, making jokes about Nakamura’s appearance before telling Nakamura, “you always rook the same”. Jinder then says that the fans are “not worth it” before saying that Nakamura gets his hair cut by a “dog groomer” and saying that people call Nakamura “Mr. Miyagi”. This sparks a “that’s too far” chant from the crowd before Jinder speaks in Punjabi, holding up his WWE Title belt, having made another highly controversial appearance. Moments before he defends the United States Championship against Baron Corbin, United States Champion AJ Styles would address Kevin Owens’ attack on Mr. McMahon last week, saying that Owens beat up a man who is responsible for AJ Styles being in WWE. Owens then says that Owens beat up a man that is responsible for the fans being in attendance tonight, saying that Kevin Owens is not going to make it out of Hell in a Cell. AJ then turns his attention to his opponent, Baron Corbin, saying that Corbin is the “shortcut king”, bringing up that Corbin to successfully cash in his Money-in-the-Bank contract and Corbin failed to beat John Cena at SummerSlam. AJ then concludes by saying that Corbin will “fail” again tonight, saying that “The Lone Wolf” can “huff and puff” all he wants, but he won’t blow down the “house that AJ Styles built”. The United States Championship was then set to be on the line on SmackDown LIVE as AJ Styles was set to defend the prestigious United States Title against “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin. However, before the match could officially begin, Baron Corbin attacks AJ Styles from behind, stomping the United States Champion in the corner. Tye Dillinger then rushes the ring with revenge on his mind, attacking Baron Corbin as “The Perfect Ten” takes it to Corbin, sending Corbin out of the ring. Tye then pummels Corbin on the outside before referees rush out to break it up. Corbin then rolls back into the ring with Corbin clutching his left ankle, insisting that he cannot compete. AJ then catches Corbin with a forearm before locking in the Calf Crusher, making Baron Corbin tap out before finally letting go of the hold, having punished “The Lone Wolf”. Following two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s near brush with death last month when “The Nature Boy” had to undergo emergency surgery, “The Queen” would return to SmackDown LIVE as Charlotte Flair would appear to thank the fans for their support. Charlotte says that it’s been an emotional six weeks but assures everyone that her father is making a comeback. Charlotte then says that, while she was away, she learned that “life is fragile” and that is why you have to “make the moments count” so, from now on, she’s going to make every moment “as big as possible” for her and her dad. SmackDown Women’s Champion Natalya then interrupts, saying that she’s glad to hear that Ric Flair is doing better before saying that she’s out there to do something “more important”. After telling Charlotte that she can stay in the ring because this concerns her as well, Natalya says that she is going to have the first ever “celebration of women” right now. Natalya says that women “lead the charge” and “nurture future generations”, declaring that it’s a celebration of “all women” by focusing on “one woman”. Natalya continues, saying that there is one woman who accomplished what Amelia Earhart never accomplished before unveiling a blown-up picture of herself. Charlotte Flair then says that she’s glad that Natalya came out there because she wants to challenge Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Title! This brings out Becky Lynch, saying that she is sorry to interrupt Natalya’s “ego Olympics” before saying that Natalya is “crazy”. Becky says that she has nothing but love for Charlotte and her father but the SmackDown Women’s Title is coming back to her. Naomi then comes out, saying that the only thing that Naomi represents is her “stank cats”. Tamina & Lana then come out to the ring with Lana saying that Natalya is a “crazy cat lady”. Lana then says that they are starting a “ravishing revolution” before saying that Charlotte, Becky, and Naomi have all had their title opportunities and, now, it’s Tamina’s time. Having gotten out of the ring and out of harm’s way, Natalya says that she is not a “crazy cat lady”, proclaiming that she will be the SmackDown Women’s Champion “forever”. SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan comes out to the stage, saying that the women of SmackDown LIVE will get a “spotlight” before announcing that Naomi, Becky Lynch, Tamina, and Charlotte Flair will compete in a Fatal 4-Way Match with the winner facing Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WWE Hell in a Cell. After defeating The Usos in a Sin City Street Fight last week to regain the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, the new champions would be in action on SmackDown LIVE as The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, would face The Hype Bros in a non-title match with former champions The Usos guests on commentary. In the end, it was Big E & Kofi Kingston hitting Zack Ryder with the Midnight Hour with Kofi pinning Ryder to pick up the win for the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. After the match, The New Day would make sure to taunt The Usos at ringside. Kevin Owens would then make an appearance live via satellite, apologizing for his assault on Mr. McMahon last week. Owens then blames Shane McMahon for making him assault Mr. McMahon, saying that, in his mind, he was “obliterating” Shane. Owens continues, saying that he has “nothing but respect” for Vince McMahon before saying that he wants to apologize to anyone who watches WWE Hell in a Cell because what he did to Mr. McMahon is nothing compared to what he is going to Shane inside Hell in a Cell. Owens then says that, for what he is going to do to Shane, people like him don’t go to “hell”, people like him go to “heaven”. Backstage, Mojo Rawley tells Zack Ryder that he is sick and tired of losing, saying that’s something has got to give before telling Ryder that, if they want things to change, they’re going to have to do something “drastic”. Dolph Ziggler then comes out to the stage, saying that he is the “greatest in-ring performer in WWE history” before saying that the fans still don’t “get it”. Dolph then heads to the back before re-entering with a leather jacket and Triple H shirt, doing his best to mimic Triple H’s entrance. Ziggler then mockingly asks if he can “run NXT now” before saying that spitting water is a lot harder than it looks. Dolph then does his routine again, this time re-emerging as “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels, complete with cowboy hat, t-shirt, and chaps. Dolph continues, saying that he doesn’t know how anyone can perform like that and expect to be taken seriously. Ziggler then says that they can go lower than that before heading to the back and, this time, coming out as a member of D-Generation X, doing the signature poses of Triple H & Shawn Michaels and tossing glow sticks to the crowd. Dolph then says that all the fans care about is an elaborate entrance, saying that he is the “best ever” but they could not care less and he does not “care” about them. Then it was time for the main event as Naomi, Tamina, Becky Lynch, and Charlotte Flair would compete in a Fatal 4-Way Match with the winner earning the right to challenge Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Title at WWE Hell in a Cell. During a wild match, Tamina would hit the Superfly Splash off of the top rope on Becky Lynch but Naomi would break up the pin attempt before Lana pulls Naomi out of the ring. Naomi then takes Lana out with a kick to the head before Tamina blasts Naomi with a super kick. Charlotte then catches Tamina with a big boot, pinning Tamina to win the match and earn a match against Natalya for the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WWE Hell in a Cell.
