WWE RAW Results: August 14, 2017By Cassidy| August 15, 2017 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results After being left hanging by Seth Rollins last week when he stuck his fist out in a show of Shield-like unity last week, RAW kicks off with a fired-up Dean Ambrose as Ambrose says that everyone is wondering what’s going on between Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. “The Lunatic Fringe” then says that he is wondering the same thing before Ambrose calls Rollins out to the ring as “The Kingslayer” comes out to confront Ambrose. Seth says that Ambrose says that the only reason he’s there for him is because RAW General Manager Kurt Angle made them team up. Rollins then says that Dean also says that he cannot trust Rollins but one look in Dean’s eyes tells him that Ambrose is “lying” before Seth says that Ambrose knows that, if they teamed together, they could “run this place”. Seth continues, saying that, if Dean wants to “let bygones be bygones” and put the past behind them, then he is through “playing games”. With that, Rollins sticks his fist out, waiting for Ambrose to put his fist in and reunite with his former Shield brother. Ambrose thinks about it before saying that he stuck his fist out last week, thinking that “maybe” he could trust Seth again but Rollins left him looking like a “fool”. Rollins then says that he understands why Ambrose has a hard time trusting him because, sometimes, he has a hard time trusting himself. Seth then says that, maybe, it just “doesn’t work” and, maybe, it was just a “stupid idea” but maybe their differences are why they work so well together. Rollins continues, saying that, when they fight together, there is “nobody” that can touch them. Seth then says that, maybe, too much has happened before again saying that he’s through “playing games”. Seth is then about to leave the ring before Dean turns Rollins around to face him with both men dropping their microphones. With the crowd willing them on, Dean Ambrose is then the one to stick his fist out as Seth Rollins glances at Dean then glances at his own fist before putting it down and starting to leave the ring again. Ambrose again turns Rollins around to face him and, this time, Seth shoves Dean and the two trade shoves before Ambrose tackles Rollins, sparking a brawl as emotions overflow between the two former friends and former rivals. The fight then spills to the outside before RAW Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus take the opportunity to pounce on Ambrose & Rollins as the champions send Ambrose over the barricade before turning their focus to Seth Rollins. Cesaro & Sheamus then beat Seth down in the ring before Ambrose joins the fight but Dean is quickly overwhelmed by the RAW Tag Team Champions. However, Seth Rollins jumps back into the fight as Ambrose & Rollins work together to send Cesaro & Sheamus packing from the ring, leaving Ambrose & Rollins standing tall once again. Frustrated yet determined, Dean Ambrose would again stick his fist out to Seth Rollins but Dean takes it away before Seth sticks his fist out. Finally, Ambrose and Rollins get on the same page, both sticking their fists out at the same time, finally showing their unity and reuniting in front of an elated crowd in Boston! RAW General Manager Kurt Angle then comes out to announce that, this Sunday at SummerSlam, Cesaro & Sheamus will defend the RAW Tag Team Titles against the newly reunited Dean Ambrose & Seth Rollins! The RAW commentary team then takes a moment to update everyone on the condition of two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Over the weekend, “The Nature Boy” was transported to a local hospital and was kept in the ICU for a couple of days for undisclosed medical problems. Michael Cole states that Ric Flair has battled a number of health issues over the last couple of days and Ric had successful surgery earlier today but he is not out of the woods yet. Cole then offers their thoughts and prayers to “The Nature Boy” before Corey Graves comments that he is a lifelong fan and Ric has always put a smile on his face, saying that he’s hoping that “The Dirtiest Player in the Game” still has a few tricks up his sleeve. Fellow WWE Hall of Famer Booker T then says that, in 2000, he defeated Ric Flair for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship and, on that night, Flair told him that he was passing the torch to Booker. Booker then says that he can’t wait to see “The Nature Boy” again so he can pass the torch back to him. The opening match of the night would see a new #1 Contender for the RAW Women’s Championship determined as Boston’s own Sasha Banks would go one-on-one with the dominant Nia Jax with the winner facing Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Title at SummerSlam. Before the match begins, RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss makes her way to ringside, taking a seat in a lifeguard chair for a prime view of the #1 Contender’s Match. Throughout the match, Sasha Banks would be ravaged by the powerful Nia Jax but, despite the dominance shown by Nia Jax, “The Boss” would continue to hold on. After getting squashed with a Samoan Drop, Sasha would just manage to grab the bottom rope to avoid losing. Nia would then hit Sasha with a second Samoan Drop, but this time, Sasha was able to roll out of the ring to avoid being pinned. Later on in the match, Sasha Banks would deliver the double knees to Nia Jax in the corner before punishing Nia with knee strikes before Nia kicks “The Boss” away. However, the tenacious Sasha Banks would refuse to give in, locking in the Bank Statement on Nia Jax and, just when it looked like Nia would make it to the ropes, Sasha would switch sides, ensuring that she was between Nia and the ropes! Nia then tries to power out of the Bank Statement, but Sasha is able to plant Nia Jax with a DDT before locking in the Bank Statement again, leaving Nia no choice but to tap out as “The Boss” picks up the win in a hard-fought match as Sasha Banks will face Alexa Bliss for the RAW Women’s Championship this Sunday at SummerSlam. Backstage, RAW General Manager Kurt Angle are talking with The Hardy Boyz, explaining to Matt & Jeff that, due to The Revival’s Scott Dawson suffering a torn bicep, The Hardy Boyz will have to wait to get their payback against The Revival. The discussion is then interrupted by Intercontinental Champion The Miz, along with his wife Maryse and The Miztourage. The Miz asks what Kurt is going to do to make up for Brock Lesnar attacking him and his Miztourage last week and, with a smile, the GM says that he’s going to do “nothing” about it, which gets a chuckle from The Hardy Boyz. Kurt then says that, since Curtis Axel was unable to compete last week thanks to the attack by Brock Lesnar, Curtis will have his originally scheduled match against Jason Jordan tonight. The Miz mock laughs at the GM before the Intercontinental Champion accuses Kurt of abusing his power to benefit his son, Jason Jordan, as well as The Hardy Boyz. The Miz then says that it “ends tonight” before saying that Curtis Axel isn’t going to take on Jason Jordan because he’s going to face Kurt’s son instead! Kurt comments that Jason Jordan is going to love that match. The Miz then starts to respond before a referee interrupts to inform Kurt Angle of a fight between Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt. With referees and agents struggling to keep Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt separated in a wild backstage brawl, Kurt Angle is finally able to restore order by telling Finn Balor and Bray Wyatt that they won’t have to wait until SummerSlam because they are going to go one-on-one tonight! Elias would then look to serenade the fans in Boston, but his performance is interrupted by R-Truth, who raps his way to the ring. Elias is quick to pounce on R-Truth, beating Truth down before hitting R-Truth with Drift Away before heading to the back with his guitar. The shark cage is then lowered into the middle of the ring as, before he faces Big Show with Enzo Amore locked in the shark cage that will be hanging high above the ring this Sunday at SummerSlam, Big Cass would make an appearance on RAW. Big Cass would repeatedly try to talk but would repeatedly get drowned out by boos and chants of “you suck” and “Casshole”. Cass then finally gets on with it, doing his best to talk over the crowd as he says that, when he talks, it matters. Big Cass then says that Enzo Amore “needs” Big Show, saying that Enzo needs someone to watch his back at all times. Big Cass continues, saying Big Show needs Enzo Amore to “stay relevant” before saying that Enzo is the “funny guy”. Cass then says that he’s the new “seven-footer on the block” before saying that Enzo can run his mouth all he wants at SummerSlam but Enzo will be unable to get involved when he is locked inside the shark cage this Sunday. Cass then proclaims that he is the “best big man” in WWE today before the seven-footer from Queens is interrupted by the thorn in his side, Enzo Amore. Enzo says that Big Cass is talking like a man who got knocked out two weeks in a row, which he did. Cass responds by telling Enzo to come down there and say that to his face. However, Enzo brings out his backup as Big Cass’ SummerSlam opponent Big Show comes out before Enzo Amore & Big Show make their way towards the ring. Big Show then has Enzo stay at ringside as “The World’s Largest Athlete” enters the ring. Enzo then gets on the ring apron to distract Big Cass with Cass knocking Enzo off of the ring apron before Big Show gets his hands on Big Cass. However, Gallows & Anderson would rush the ring, only to be easily dispatched by Big Show. Big Show sends Cass into the shark cage before grabbing both Gallows & Anderson by the neck but Big Show’s pre-occupation with Gallows & Anderson would leave Big Show open for a big boot from Big Cass. Big Cass and Gallows & Anderson then put the boots to Big Show before Luke Gallows ties a belt around the wrist of Big Show and, after Big Cass again knocks Enzo off of the apron, this time with a big boot, Gallows & Anderson hold Big Show in place so that Big Cass could slam the steel door of the shark cage on the wrist and hand of “The World’s Largest Athlete”! With Gallows & Anderson holding Big Show down, Big Cass would repeatedly stomp on the hand of Big Show before referees come out and stop the assault before the referees check on the injured giant. SummerSlam would come early for Neville and Akira Tozawa on RAW as, in a match originally scheduled for SummerSlam, Neville would defend the Cruiserweight Title against Akira Tozawa, with Titus O’Neil in his corner. During a hotly contested match for the Cruiserweight Title, Neville would repeatedly keep Akira Tozawa from hitting his signature senton bomb off of the top rope before the champion is able to lock in the Rings of Saturn on Tozawa. However, the challenger would counter into a pinning predicament, nearly getting the three-count. Neville then sends Tozawa face-first into the middle turnbuckle before going for the Red Arrow, but Tozawa is able to move out of the way. Realizing that this was his opportunity, Akira Tozawa would climb to the top rope, soaring off of the top rope with his senton bomb to Neville, pinning “The King of the Cruiserweights” to become the brand new Cruiserweight Champion! Apollo Crews then comes out to join the celebration as Apollo hoists Akira Tozawa up on the shoulders of Titus O’Neil as Titus Worldwide celebrates the brand new WWE Cruiserweight Champion Akira Tozawa! Backstage, the trainer is checking on Big Show as the trainer informs “The World’s Largest Athlete” that his right hand appears to be broken. Enzo Amore tells Big Show to just forget about SummerSlam but Big Show says that he’s “fought bigger” and been “hurt worse”, saying that there’s “no way in hell” that he’s missing SummerSlam. Enzo then tells Big Show that he’s got to look at the big picture, but Big Show says that he’s Big Show and Enzo better not “forget it”. In another SummerSlam match come early, RAW would see Finn Balor would go one-on-one with “The Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt. In the end, Finn Balor would head to the top rope to look for the Coup de Grace, but Bray Wyatt would hang Finn up on the top rope before pulling Balor down from the top rope and hitting Sister Abigail, pinning Finn to pick up the win. After the match, Bray Wyatt was not satisfied with defeating Finn Balor as “The Eater of Worlds” would pick Finn up to deliver Sister Abigail for a second time. Bray then stands next to Finn Balor, shouting “follow the buzzards” before the lights go out in the arena. Then, when the lights come back on, Bray is standing in the ring with a bucket in his hand with Finn Balor propped up in the corner. “The Eater of Worlds” then dumps the contents of the bucket over the head of Finn Balor, covering Finn in a strange red liquid that looks akin to blood! This freaks Finn Balor out as Finn crawls and writhes around in the ring as Bray sits in the corner and watches, laughing before singing “I’ve got the whole world in my hands” to himself. Following a backstage confrontation earlier in the night, Emma would go one-on-one with Mickie James on RAW. In the end, it was Mickie James hitting Emma with the Mick Kick, pinning Emma to pick up the win. Backstage, Finn Balor exits Kurt Angle’s office, revealing that Kurt has granted him a rematch against Bray Wyatt at SummerSlam! Finn then says that Bray has his “demons”, but at SummerSlam this Sunday, Finn is going to show his demons! After deciding that he should face Jason Jordan instead of Curtis Axel, Intercontinental Champion The Miz, with Maryse and The Miztourage in his corner, would go one-on-one with Kurt Angle’s son Jason Jordan in a non-title match. During the match, Jason Jordan was just about to put the Intercontinental Champion away when Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel attack Jason Jordan, ending the match by disqualification. The Miztourage then looks to beat down Jason Jordan but that’s when The Hardy Boyz would make the save as Matt & Jeff rush to the ring, taking out The Miztourage before setting their sights on The Miz, hitting the Intercontinental Champion with Poetry in Motion before Jason Jordan hits The Miz with a suplex. Following the melee moments earlier, RAW would see an impromptu 6-Man Tag Match as Jason Jordan would team with The Hardy Boyz to face Intercontinental Champion The Miz & The Miztourage, with Maryse in their corner. In the end, it was Jason Jordan hitting Bo Dallas with a belly-to-belly suplex followed up by Matt Hardy hitting Bo with the Twist of Fate and, finally, Jeff Hardy would connect with the Swanton Bomb, pinning Bo Dallas to pick up the win for Jason Jordan & The Hardy Boyz. Then it was time for a volatile confrontation as RAW General Manager Kurt Angle would be in the ring with security surrounding the ring as, before they collide in a Fatal 4-Way Match for the Universal Championship this Sunday at SummerSlam, Roman Reigns, Samoa Joe, Braun Strowman, and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar would be in the same ring at the same time! Kurt would introduce “The Beast” first as Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, along with his advocate Paul Heyman, would make their way to the ring with Kurt Angle taking a seat at ringside. Heyman says that WWE is attempting to get one more iconic moment out of Brock Lesnar by having Brock out there for a confrontation with his SummerSlam opponents, referring to the confrontation as a “prison fight”. The advocate then says that, if you put Brock Lesnar, Braun Strowman, Samoa Joe, and Roman Reigns in the same ring, all the security in the world will not stop all hell from breaking loose. Heyman continues, saying that, just because Brock Lesnar is willing to listen to “ideas that don’t necessarily include WWE”, Kurt Angle and WWE have “conspired” against Brock by putting the three “top contenders” in the ring with Brock Lesnar. Heyman then says that, once they get Brock Lesnar out of the equation, any of the challengers can beat anyone in the match to win the Universal Title before Heyman says that putting Lesnar in a match where he doesn’t even need to be pinned or made to submit to lose the title is an idea that “sucks”. The advocate continues, saying that, when Brock Lesnar does lose the Universal Championship, it will be because someone was “man enough” to pin Brock or make Brock submit. Paul Heyman then says that Samoa Joe won’t win the title, saying Joe is desperate to “steal” the Universal Title so he can take it back to his “tribe” as a sign that he belongs. Heyman then says that Braun Strowman will not win the title, admitting that Braun has “all the tools” to be champion but, at SummerSlam, “beast slays monster”. Lastly, the advocate addresses Roman Reigns, saying that Roman says that the ring is his “yard” before saying that Roman’s yard is in Brock’s “house” and “rent is due” this Sunday at SummerSlam. Heyman then says that one of two things happen at SummerSlam as, either the “conspiracy” by WWE and Kurt Angle is a success and Brock loses the title, meaning that Lesnar & Heyman will leave WWE, commenting that, if that is the case, then they might as well lock Brock up “in a cage”. The advocate then says that the other option is that Brock Lesnar wins the Fatal 4-Way Match and Brock proves that, in all these years, Heyman has “undersold” Brock Lesnar before saying that is his “case” for everyone to watch SummerSlam this Sunday. The first of Brock Lesnar’s three challengers at SummerSlam then makes his way to the ring as Samoa Joe confronts Brock Lesnar. Samoa Joe says that, at SummerSlam, he is going to take the Universal Title directly from “The Beast” when he puts Brock to “sleep” in the middle of the ring. Braun Strowman then marches to the ring, saying that he’s “always the last man standing” before Samoa Joe says that Roman Reigns was “stomping” Braun out before he showed up, saying that Strowman is merely a man who was “barely standing up” as he put Roman Reigns down. This brings out the last piece of the puzzle, Roman Reigns, but Reigns wasn’t in the mood to talk as “The Big Dog” enters the ring and charges right at Samoa Joe, taking “The Destroyer” out with the Spear! Braun Strowman then grabs Roman Reigns and plants Reigns with the running powerslam, leaving us with a monstrous showdown between Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar! However, just as the two behemoths are about to trade blows, security swarms the ring to separate the two but both Braun and Brock annihilate the security before staring each other down again. Desperate to preserve the main event of SummerSlam, Kurt Angle would call for backup from the RAW locker room as Curt Hawkins, R-Truth, Kalisto, Jason Jordan, The Hardy Boyz, Apollo Crews, Titus O’Neil, Goldust, Dash Wilder, Heath Slater & Rhyno, and The Miztourage all rush out to keep Brock Lesnar and Braun Strowman separated while Gallows & Anderson do their best to keep Samoa Joe restrained on the outside. However, Brock Lesnar would manage to break free and get to Braun Strowman before the Superstars are able to restrain the Universal Champion only for Braun to break free in his corner and get to Brock Lesnar, getting a few shots in on “The Beast” before the Superstars again have to scramble to keep the two of them apart, managing to do so, at least for the time being.
