WWE RAW Results: July 17, 2017By Cassidy| July 18, 2017 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results After Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins both saved the other from three-on-one assaults at the hands of The Miz & The Miztourage last week, RAW kicks off with “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose, who makes his way to the ring with the steel chair he used last week. Referring to the steel chair as “Steely Dan”, Dean Ambrose says that both he and the chair are “bent out of shape”. Ambrose then calls The Miz out to the ring, but Ambrose does not get the Intercontinental Champion. Instead, Ambrose gets Seth Rollins as “The Kingslayer” makes his way to the ring to confront his former Shield brother. Seth says that Dean is all over the place, pointing out that Ambrose told him that they should fight their own battles last week, but Dean still came to his aid later that same night. Seth then suggests that Dean come up with a “better plan” and Ambrose responds, saying that planning is not his thing, he just does whatever he’s in the mood to do. Ambrose then says that he didn’t come down to the ring last week to help Seth, saying that Rollins just happened to be in the area when he came down to get a piece of The Miz & The Miztourage. Dean Ambrose then tells Seth Rollins that, it may come as a surprise to Seth, but “not everything is about you”, saying that this is his battle, telling Rollins to “scram”. Seth says he’s not out there to tell Dean what to do or to get involved in Dean’s business, saying that he’s out there because The Miz and his “glam squad” involved him. Rollins then says he’s out there to ask Ambrose a question, asking if Dean will be standing in his way or standing by his side when he takes the fight to The Miz & The Miztourage. Ambrose tells Rollins that Seth is not his “brother”, saying his “brothers” were in The Shield and he trusted his “brother”. Dean then says that he doesn’t know Rollins, saying that he knew a guy that looked a lot like Seth and that guy was a “liar” and a “cheater”. Ambrose continues, saying that guy is the one who took a steel chair much like the one he has in his hand and he stabbed it right through his back and right through his “heart”. Seth then yells at Dean that that incident was over three years ago, saying “I’m sorry” before repeating his apology. Rollins then says that he remembers that day every day of his life before saying that he also remembers he and Dean tearing each other apart inside Hell in a Cell and he remembers Ambrose cashing in his Money-in-the-Bank contract and beating Seth for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship last year. Rollins then says that all of that is in the past, saying that he has “moved on”, asking what it will take for Dean to move on as well. Dean Ambrose then thinks it over before telling Seth Rollins that he sees Seth’s lips moving but he doesn’t hear anything. Seth responds by saying that if Dean doesn’t want to listen to him, then he will let his “actions” speak for him. Rollins then turns his back to Dean Ambrose, telling “The Lunatic Fringe” that, if it’s going to make Dean feel better, then he should hit him with the steel chair! Rollins then yells at Ambrose to hit him but Dean instead tosses the chair out of the ring. This is when Intercontinental Champion The Miz and his Miztourage of Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel come out to the stage. The Miz says that Seth is wasting his time, saying that, when you “burn a bridge” in this business, it is a “major no-no”. The Miz then says that Dean Ambrose doesn’t have “what it takes” to do it all on his own, saying that he knew that Ambrose would call him out. The Miz & The Miztourage then surround the ring with steel chairs in their hands. The trio then attack with Ambrose exiting the ring to try and get a piece of The Miz while Rollins tries to deal with Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel. However, The Miz & The Miztourage use the steel chairs to gain the advantage with the Intercontinental Champion wearing Ambrose out with a steel chair before sending Dean into the steel steps. The Miz then gets in the ring to aid in taking out Seth Rollins as Curtis Axel drives a chair into the mid-section of Rollins before Bo Dallas hammers Seth with right hands. Bo then sets up a steel chair in the ring so that The Miz can use the Skull Crushing Finale to plant “The Kingslayer” face-first on the chair! The Miz & The Miztourage then leave the ring with The Miz delivering a parting steel chair to Dean Ambrose before The Miz & The Miztourage hold their steel chairs up high, having effectively destroyed Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins. After pinning Alexa Bliss in tag team action last week, the opening match of the night would see Bayley go one-on-one with RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss in a non-title match. Early on in the match, Alexa Bliss would appear to get some backup as Nia Jax makes her way down to ringside. During the match, Alexa Bliss would roll to the outside and Bayley would follow before Bayley comes face-to-face with Nia Jax. Alexa then uses the distraction to her advantage to take Bayley down and this would lead to Sasha Banks rushing out to ringside to try and even things up for her friend with “The Boss” delivering a dropkick to Nia Jax that sends Nia back-first into the ring apron. With Nia taken out, Bayley would hit the Bayley-to-Belly on Alexa Bliss in the ring, pinning the RAW Women’s Champion for the second straight week, undoubtedly earning herself a future RAW Women’s Title match. Bayley & Sasha then celebrate Bayley’s victory as Alexa Bliss & Nia Jax regroup on the ramp. Backstage, Corey Graves confronts RAW General Manager Kurt Angle as the extremely nervous and emotional GM tells Corey that he’s having second thoughts and maybe it’s something he should keep to himself. Corey tells Angle that going out there and telling the truth is the “right thing to do” and, in his opinion, Kurt has “nothing to be ashamed of”. Angle tells Corey that he’s a “good man” before saying that this is something everyone should hear directly from him. The GM then says that Corey’s “friendship” means a lot to him. The Cruiserweights were in action on RAW as “Gentleman” Jack Gallagher would team with Mustafa Ali to face The Brian Kendrick and Drew Gulak. In the end, it was Mustafa Ali hitting his inverted 450 splash, the 054, and pinning The Brian Kendrick to pick up the win for his team. For the first time since losing to Big Cass at Great Balls of Fire, Enzo Amore would make an appearance on RAW. Enzo says that there’s not a man in this business who can elicit a reaction using a microphone like he does. Enzo then says that you win some and you lose some, but you always fight for what you believe in. Enzo continues, saying that Big Cass being seven-foot tall didn’t win them any championships before saying that, if he gets knocked down “nine times”, he’s “getting up ten”. Enzo then says that he made Big Cass finish their fight at Great Balls of Fire just like he always does. Enzo then says that, when the going got tough last week when Big Cass was confronted by Big Show, Big Cass ran away. This brings out Big Cass, who tells Corey Graves that, if it wasn’t for Corey, none of this would have ever happened. Cass then tells Enzo that he’s about to come down to the ring and “beat some sense” into Enzo and, hopefully, Enzo will learn his lesson. Big Cass then gets in the ring as Enzo exits the ring before Enzo takes a seat in the front row as “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show makes his way to the ring. Cass would try to get the jump on Big Show, but Big Show would take control, repeatedly tossing Big Cass into the barricade on the outside. Cass then manages to fight back, repeatedly blasting Big Show with right hands before “The World’s Largest Athlete” grabs Cass and hurls Cass into the ring apron. The giant then slams Big Cass on the floor before both big men find themselves on the ring apron and this is when Cass would send Big Show into the ring post. Cass then brings Big Show into the ring as the seven-footer from Queens systematically beats down “The World’s Largest Athlete”, repeatedly kicking the giant in the mid-section. Having seen enough, Enzo Amore would rush the ring, but Enzo would quickly be dispatched with a big boot from Big Cass. Cass then exits the ring as Big Show gets to his feet as the giant is left seething after the brawl. In a rematch from last week’s RAW, “The Demon King” Finn Balor would go one-on-one with “The Drifter” Elias Samson. During the match, Finn Balor would send Elias Samson to the outside and this is when “The Drifter” would reach for his trusty guitar, smashing the guitar over the head of Finn Balor, sending pieces of the instrument everywhere, ending the match by disqualification. Referees and medical personnel then attend to Finn Balor, helping Balor to his feet as Bray Wyatt appears on the Tron. Bray says that he’s been “watching” Finn for a while, saying that he lives for the “look of pain” that Balor has on his face. Bray then says that he feels the need to “punish” Balor before saying that he is not a “myth” and he’s the “worst nightmare” Finn will ever have. Bray continues, saying that the best part of it is that he’s going to “enjoy every second” of it before “The Eater of Worlds” laughs maniacally. As he continues to pursue his rematch against Neville for the Cruiserweight Title, Akira Tozawa, with Titus O’Neil in his corner, would go one-on-one with Ariya Daivari on RAW. Throughout the match, Ariya Daivari would relentlessly target the injured left shoulder of Akira Tozawa to the point of Titus O’Neil getting on the ring apron and telling the referee to stop the match for Tozawa’s sake. The referee does as he is told, stopping the match and awarding the victory to Ariya Daivari! This would enrage Akira Tozawa as Tozawa would repeatedly shout at Titus O’Neil, saying that he “never quits” and that Titus doesn’t care about him as Akira makes his way to the back. Then it was time for the truth to finally be revealed as RAW General Manager Kurt Angle would make his way to the ring to reveal his career-changing and life-altering secret to the world. The GM first apologizes to the fans for being a “distraction” over the last several weeks before Kurt says that, before he makes his announcement, he wants to talk about what he’s been going on in his life. Angle says that he was taught as a child that every “action” has a “consequence” before saying that an action from his past has a “serious consequence”. An emotional Angle then says that he was afraid of change because he thought it would hurt his family before saying that his family, as well as WWE, is “100% supportive” of his announcement. Angle then makes his big announcement, saying that, when he was in college, he dated a young lady for a while and he just recently found out that this woman gave birth to a child nine months after their last date! Kurt continues, saying that this woman gave birth to a “baby boy” and he was unaware of the pregnancy or the birth before saying that this baby was put up for a “closed adoption”. The GM then says that the baby was adopted by parents who taught him “great American values”. With a smile on his face, Kurt discusses the accomplishments of the young man, saying he was a “three sport athlete” and a “great student” in high school. Kurt then says that the young man was even drafted after high school to play professional baseball but the young man opted to go to college, get a degree, and “excel in wrestling”. Angle continues, saying that the young man had a lot of options after college but he decided to pursue his dream of becoming a WWE Superstar! Kurt then says that they always settle things in the ring so that’s what they are going to do right now before the GM introduces the newest member of the RAW roster and Kurt’s son, Jason Jordan! As Kurt cries tears of joy, the former tag team champion makes his way to the ring as Jason Jordan hugs his father for the first time in the center of the ring. The GM then raises the hand of his son in a truly emotional moment between father and son. After The Revival took advantage of the injured Hardy Boyz last week in a vicious attack, the veterans would be looking for revenge on RAW as The Hardy Boyz would face The Revival in tag team action. During a hard-fought match, Jeff Hardy would go for the Swanton Bomb, but Dash Wilder would pull Jeff’s legs out from under him, racking Jeff on the top rope. This would allow Scott Dawson to pin Jeff Hardy to pick up a big win for The Revival. Then it was time for the main event as “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns would go one-on-one with “The Destroyer” Samoa Joe with the winner earning the right to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship at SummerSlam. During the match, Roman Reigns would nearly put Samoa Joe away with the Superman Punch, but Joe would kick out. With both Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe down, Braun Strowman would make his presence felt as “The Monster Among Men” would return to RAW just eight nights after being in the back of an ambulance that was crashed into a trailer by Roman Reigns at Great Balls of Fire! Braun would make a beeline for the ring, pulling Samoa Joe out of the ring. Strowman then sets his sights on Roman Reigns, trying to take the fight to “The Monster Among Men” but Braun would manhandle Reigns, tossing Roman into the ring with ease. Braun then comes face-to-face with Samoa Joe before the two come to blows with Strowman getting the better of “The Destroyer”. Braun then enters the ring, splashing Samoa Joe in the corner before Reigns catches Braun with a boot. Joe then pounces on Braun, locking in the Coquina Clutch on “The Monster Among Men”, trying to choke Strowman out! Roman then catches Braun with the Superman Punch, taking Strowman off of his feet. Reigns then charges at Braun but Braun catches Roman with a spinebuster. “The Monster Among Men” then splashes Joe in the corner before delivering a powerslam to Samoa Joe. Braun then puts Roman on his shoulder, delivering a running powerslam to “The Big Dog” as well. Security then rushes out to try and stop Strowman from doing any further damage to no avail as Braun lifts Reigns up again, drilling Roman with a second running powerslam! Braun then exits the ring, marching to the back as both Roman Reigns and Samoa Joe are left in a heap in the ring as referees come out to check on the two of them.
