WWE RAW Results: May 8, 2017By Cassidy| May 9, 2017 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results After finding out last week that The Miz is the new #1 Contender for his Intercontinental Title, RAW in London kicks off with Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose. The champion reveals that RAW General Manager Kurt Angle is not present at RAW tonight so Kurt has named him the “acting General Manager” for the evening! Ambrose then says that he’s not a big talker and he’s all about “action”. The new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title The Miz, along with his wife Maryse, then interrupt the acting General Manager. The Miz says that, with Dean Ambrose in charge, RAW will be “chaos” tonight before Ambrose says that he has a “very detailed plan” for an action-packed night. Ambrose then starts to put The Miz in a match, but The Miz interrupts, saying that he just got off of the phone with RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon before revealing that Stephanie has assigned a “co-acting General Manager” and that individual is him! Ambrose then tells The Miz that, at Extreme Rules, he is going to put a “beat down” on The Miz and he will walk out as Intercontinental Champion. The champion then offers his hand for a handshake, but the confrontation is interrupted by the arrival of “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman, with his arm in a sling as a result of his Payback encounter with Roman Reigns. Braun says that he doesn’t care who’s in charge because he’s going to get what he wants, saying he took out “The Big Dog” at Payback but as long as Roman can still walk, he’s not finished with Reigns. Strowman then says that, once his arm is healed, he is going to “end” Roman Reigns and, when he’s finished with Roman, he wants Brock Lesnar! Braun is then interrupted by the man he pushed off of the stage in a dumpster two weeks ago, Kalisto, as the high flyer says that he beat Braun in a Dumpster Match and Strowman couldn’t take it. Kalisto then demands that he gets a match against Braun Strowman tonight with Braun saying that he crushed Kalisto like a beer can, saying that, when he is fully healed, he will gladly face Kalisto again. Braun then adds that he could beat the high flyer with one arm and Ambrose takes this seriously, putting Strowman in a match against Kalisto on RAW tonight! Braun then leaves the ring as Dean Ambrose informs The Miz that he has a match against Finn Balor right now. Per the orders of co-acting RAW General Manager Dean Ambrose, the opening match of the night would see Finn Balor go one-on-one with the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title, The Miz, with Maryse in his corner. During the match, Maryse would get on the ring apron to distract the referee and this is when The Miz would shove Finn Balor into the referee. The Miz then slides out of the ring and grabs a microphone before exercising his position as the co-acting General Manager, saying that he cannot allow a Superstar to put his hands on the referee, ordering that the referee end the match by disqualification. This brings out Dean Ambrose as the other co-acting GM declares that the match is going to continue before saying that, this time, Maryse will be banned from ringside! The match then starts again as Finn Balor brings The Miz back to the ring, hitting a dropkick into the corner and following it up with the Coup de Grace, pinning The Miz to pick up the win. Having forged a temporary partnership with Nia Jax, the RAW Women’s Champion would have some major backup in her corner as Alexa Bliss, with Nia Jax in her corner, would go one-on-one with Mickie James, with Bayley in her corner, in a non-title match. During the match, Mickie James would look to head to the top rope, but Nia Jax would grab the foot of Mickie James. Bayley then tries to take out Nia Jax but the distraction would still pay off as Alexa Bliss would pull Mickie off of the top rope, pinning Mickie for the win. After the match, Alexa would look to further punish Mickie but Bayley would get into the ring and would end up chasing the champion all the way to the back. This leaves Mickie James all alone with Nia Jax as Nia would have Mickie in her sights, first squashing Mickie in the corner before following it up with a big elbow drop. Nia then exits the ring, leaving Mickie laid out in the ring. Backstage, Samoa Joe is being interviewed about Seth Rollins as Joe says that Seth’s life is about to get very “loud” because he is going to make every ligament “pop” and every bone “creak”. The interview is then interrupted by Seth Rollins as Seth attacks Joe, sparking a brawl between the two rivals that has to be broken up by agents and referees. After being put in a dumpster and shoved off of the stage by Braun Strowman two weeks ago, Kalisto would be looking for revenge as the high flyer would go one-on-one with “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman with Braun having to compete with his injured left arm in a sling. However, before the match can begin, Braun Strowman says that co-acting General Manager Dean Ambrose can “shove it” because he’s not accepting this challenge, taking the time to call Roman Reigns a “pathetic coward”. Despite this, the match would begin and “The Monster Among Men” would immediately take it to Kalisto, but this is when Roman Reigns would come out to the ring. Despite still being bandaged up as a result of their battle at Payback, Roman would get into the ring, coming face-to-face with Strowman. Reigns then kicks Braun in the injured shoulder before catching Strowman with the Superman Punch, following it up with two more Superman Punches. Braun would then roll to the outside before taking Reigns down but Roman would battle back, repeatedly slamming the injured shoulder of Braun Strowman into the ring post. As referees try to break it up, Reigns would grab a steel chair, using the chair to further damage the injured shoulder of “The Monster Among Men”. Braun then escapes into the crowd, creating distance between himself and Reigns as Roman is left standing tall in the ring with steel chair in hand. New #1 Contenders for the RAW Tag Team Titles would then be decided on RAW as Enzo & Big Cass, The Golden Truth, Heath Slater & Rhyno, Gallows & Anderson, and Cesaro & Sheamus would compete in Tag Team Turmoil where two teams will start the match and, when one team is eliminated, another team will come out with the last team standing becoming the new #1 Contenders with the first part of Tag Team Turmoil seeing Enzo & Big Cass square off with Cesaro & Sheamus. In the end, it was Sheamus taking Big Cass out on the outside as Cesaro locks in the Sharpshooter on Enzo Amore in the ring, making Enzo tap out to advance in Tag Team Turmoil. The second match of Tag Team Turmoil would then see Cesaro & Sheamus face Heath Slater & Rhyno. However, Cesaro & Sheamus would meet Heath Slater & Rhyno in the entranceway, first sending Rhyno into the steel steps before targeting Heath Slater. With Cesaro & Sheamus keeping Rhyno off of the ring apron, Heath Slater would be at the mercy of Cesaro & Sheamus as Sheamus blasts Slater with the Brogue Kick, pinning Slater to advance in Tag Team Turmoil. Cesaro & Sheamus would then have to contend with Gallows & Anderson in the third match of Tag Team Turmoil. In the hard-hitting encounter, Cesaro & Sheamus would keep their momentum going as Sheamus would catch Luke Gallows with the Brogue Kick, pinning Gallows to advance in Tag Team Turmoil. It would then come down to the final two teams as Cesaro & Sheamus would face The Golden Truth in Tag Team Turmoil. Despite the best efforts of The Golden Truth, it was Cesaro rolling up R-Truth to win Tag Team Turmoil as Cesaro & Sheamus secure a future shot at the RAW Tag Team Titles. After the match, Cesaro & Sheamus would further damage The Golden Truth before The Hardy Boyz come out as the RAW Tag Team Champions make their way to the ring, only for Cesaro & Sheamus to make a quick exit from the ring. Following their brawl earlier in the night, a rematch from Payback would take place on RAW as “The Architect” Seth Rollins would go one-on-one with “The Destroyer” Samoa Joe. During the match, Samoa Joe would set Seth Rollins up for the Muscle Buster with Seth struggling to get free, but during his struggle, Rollins would inadvertently remove the top turnbuckle pad and Joe was quick to take advantage, sending Seth chest-first into the exposed steel turnbuckle. With a sinister smile on his face, Samoa Joe would pick Seth Rollins up, sending Seth into the exposed turnbuckle again. After the referee calls for the bell, Samoa Joe would send Rollins into the turnbuckle again before locking in the Coquina Clutch, refusing to relinquish the hold until the referee is finally able to get Joe off of Rollins. With Cruiserweight Champion Neville a guest on commentary, Neville’s protégé TJP would go one-on-one with “Gentleman” Jack Gallagher. In the end, it was TJP rolling up Jack Gallagher, hooking the tights for the illegal advantage to secure the win. After the match, TJP would attack Gallagher from behind, locking in the knee bar on Gallagher. This would bring Austin Aries out for some revenge for last week as Aries gets the better of TJP before TJP is narrowly able to escape. “The Boss” was in action on RAW as Sasha Banks would go one-on-one with Alicia Fox. In the end, it was Sasha Banks coming off of the top rope with the double knees to the face, pinning Alicia Fox for the win. In a match made by co-acting General Manager The Miz, the main event of RAW would see Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose go one-on-one with “The Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt in a non-title match with The Miz a guest on commentary. During the match, The Miz & Maryse would make their way down to ringside as The Miz would grab the Intercontinental Title belt, holding it up at ringside. Ambrose then dives to the outside to take out The Miz, but with the referee’s back turned, The Miz would hit Dean Ambrose in the back with the title belt. Back in the ring, Bray Wyatt would hit Dean Ambrose with Sister Abigail as Bray pins the Intercontinental Champion to pick up the win. After the match, The Miz would further pummel Dean Ambrose before standing over Ambrose with the Intercontinental Title belt, proclaiming that, come next week, he will be the Intercontinental Champion and it will be “awesome”. The Miz then exits the ring as Dean Ambrose comes to, glaring at The Miz. What did you think of this week’s RAW? Post your comments in the box below.
