WWE RAW Results: May 22, 2017By Cassidy| May 23, 2017 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results RAW kicks off with the fireflies shining throughout the arena as, less than two weeks before he is part of the Fatal 5-Way Extreme Rules Match to determine the #1 Contender for the Universal Championship at Extreme Rules, “The Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt makes his way to the ring. Bray repeatedly tells the fans to “stand up” and rejoice for their “one true savior”. Bray then says that “The Beast” is coming and he tells them to “run”, but he is in control and he will feed on his “black heart”, saying that, at Extreme Rules, four men will “suffer”. Bray continues, saying that he alone can “protect” them before saying that he “sacrificed” Seth Rollins and he “sacrificed” Samoa Joe. Bray then says that, in his world, there are no friends, there are only “followers”. Wyatt then says that, in the end, even Finn Balor will see the truth and that is that only he can slay “The Beast”. Bray then addresses Roman Reigns, saying that Roman claims that the ring is his “yard” before saying that Roman’s yard is insignificant in his “world”. Bray Wyatt’s sermon is then interrupted by the arrival of Roman Reigns, who makes his way to the ring to confront “The Eater of Worlds”. Reigns tells Wyatt that, if Bray is going to run his mouth in his “yard”, he better say it to his face. Bray laughs at Roman before saying that he is the “truth” and he is the only one here that can beat Brock Lesnar. Reigns responds by saying that he is going to be the one to walk out of Extreme Rules as the #1 Contender before saying that, right now, he’s not worried about Extreme Rules, he’s worried about how he’s going to get Bray out of his yard. This brings out RAW General Manager Kurt Angle, who says that he’s looking at two of the odds on favorites to win the Fatal 5-Way Match at Extreme Rules. The GM then makes an impromptu match between Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt to take place right now! A rivalry would be renewed on RAW as, before they are two of the five Superstars in the Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match to decide the #1 Contender for the Universal Title at Extreme Rules, “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns would go one-on-one with “The Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt. During the match, Samoa Joe would make a beeline for the ring and would stare down both Bray Wyatt and Roman Reigns before “The Destroyer” decides to lock in the Coquina Clutch on Roman Reigns, giving Roman the win by disqualification. Roman would manage to break free of the submission before Bray would attack Reigns but Joe would get a measure of revenge for last week by locking in the Coquina Clutch on Bray Wyatt! Seth Rollins then rushes to the ring for a piece of Samoa Joe, getting the better of his rival as Roman Reigns takes Bray Wyatt out with the Superman Punch. This leaves Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins standing tall together in the ring as Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe regroup on the outside. The Cruiserweights were in action on RAW as Akira Tozawa would go one-on-one with Ariya Daivari. In the end, it was Akira Tozawa hitting a senton off of the top rope, pinning Ariya Daivari to pick up the win. After weeks of drifting around the backstage area, RAW would see the in-ring RAW debut of “The Drifter” as Elias Sampson would go one-on-one with Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose in a non-title match with The Miz & Maryse guests on commentary. During the match, The Miz would make his way to the ring and, after thinking it over, The Miz would decide to attack Elias Sampson, which would give “The Drifter” the win by disqualification. After the match, Dean Ambrose would chase The Miz around ringside before heading into the ring. The Intercontinental Champion would then get his hands on The Miz, but “The Drifter” would intervene as Elias Sampson would hit Ambrose with a swinging neckbreaker! Sampson then stands over Dean Ambrose as The Miz applauds “The Drifter”, having sent a message to Dean Ambrose ahead of their unique title match at Extreme Rules where, if Ambrose is disqualified, he will lose the Intercontinental Title. Prior to his scheduled match against Karl Anderson, Finn Balor would address the Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match to determine the #1 Contender for Brock Lesnar’s Universal Championship. Finn would say that, tonight, Karl Anderson stands in his path but he is “focused” before Balor is interrupted by the advocate for reigning Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman. Heyman says that, if Bray Wyatt steps into the ring against Brock Lesnar, Brock will paint Bray as a “victim” before saying that Lesnar will make Seth Rollins a “freakin’ victim”. The advocate continues, saying that Samoa Joe is nothing more than a “victim” against Brock Lesnar before saying that Roman Reigns is the odds on favorite to win the Fatal 5-Way Match at Extreme Rules and, if Roman does become the #1 Contender, he will become another “victim” of Brock Lesnar. Now in the ring, Paul Heyman tells Finn Balor that Finn is “no victim” before saying that Finn is the most talented in-ring performer in WWE today. Heyman then says that Finn Balor believes that anyone who steps into the ring with him is a “victim” before saying that he is the most interested in seeing Finn Balor face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title. The advocate then wishes Finn luck in the Fatal 5-Way Match, shaking the hand of “The Demon King” before Finn Balor says that, since Brock Lesnar is not here, he wants Heyman to give Brock a message. Balor then tells Heyman that he will win the Fatal 5-Way Match and he will beat Brock Lesnar for the Universal Title that he never lost. Before he is a part of the Extreme Rules Fatal 5-Way Match to determine the #1 Contender for the Universal Championship at Extreme Rules, “The Demon King” was in action on RAW as Finn Balor would go one-on-one with a longtime friend and former teammate in Karl Anderson, with Luke Gallows in his corner. After managing to keep Luke Gallows at bay, Finn Balor would connect with the Coup de Grace, pinning Karl Anderson to pick up the win. After both Superstars exchanged victories over the last couple of weeks, the rubber match would take place on RAW as “The Boss” Sasha Banks would go one-on-one with Alicia Fox, with Noam Dar in her corner. In the end, it was Sasha Banks delivering the double knees to the mid-section of Alicia Fox in the corner and that was enough to keep Alicia down for the three-count as “The Boss” picks up the win. After the match, Noam Dar would get in the face of Sasha Banks and Noam would get a slap to the face in return. Alicia Fox would respond to this by attacking Sasha from behind before hitting Sasha with the Scissors Kick, leaving “The Boss” laid out. In a throwback to the Goldust of the Attitude Era, Goldust would appear on the Tron to explain why he attacked his longtime tag team partner R-Truth last week. Goldust says that R-Truth’s light is “flickering” and Truth is waiting for a chance to shine on Goldust’s “silver screen”. Goldust then says that he’s back in the director’s chair now and he controls how his next film will end, saying that the “golden age is back”. Friends would square off on RAW as Kalisto would go one-on-one with Apollo Crews, with Titus O’Neil in his corner. During the match, the screaming of Titus O’Neil at ringside would draw the attention of Apollo Crews and Kalisto would take advantage, hitting the Salida del Sol and pinning Crews to pick up the win. With The Hardy Boyz set to defend the RAW Tag Team Titles against Cesaro & Sheamus in less than two weeks at Extreme Rules, one-half of the RAW Tag Team Champions, Matt Hardy, with Jeff Hardy in his corner, would go one-on-one with Sheamus, with Cesaro in his corner, with whoever wins getting to choose the stipulation for the title match at Extreme Rules. During the match, Jeff Hardy would dive off of the ring apron to take out Cesaro and Sheamus would respond by kicking Jeff in the back. However, Matt Hardy would take advantage of this distraction, hitting Sheamus with the Twist of Fate and pinning Sheamus for the win. As a result of the victory, The Hardy Boyz would get to pick the stipulation for their RAW Tag Team Title defense against Cesaro & Sheamus at Extreme Rules. After the match, Matt Hardy would be asked about what the match stipulation will be and Matt reveals that, at Extreme Rules, they are going to lock Cesaro & Sheamus up and tear them down inside of a steel cage! Before he challenges Neville for the Cruiserweight Championship in a Submission Match at Extreme Rules, “A-Double” Austin Aries would go one-on-one with Tony Nese on RAW with Cruiserweight Champion Neville seated at ringside. In the end, it was Austin Aries fighting through the pain in his injured left knee, locking in the Last Chancery on Tony Nese, making Nese tap out to pick up the win. After the match, Neville would decide to attack Tony Nese from behind, locking in the Rings of Saturn on Nese in a clear message to Austin Aries. With a Kendo Stick on a Pole Match against Bayley for the RAW Women’s Championship coming up at Extreme Rules, RAW Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss would go one-on-one with former ally Mickie James in a non-title match. In the end, it was Alexa Bliss spiking Mickie James with her signature DDT, pinning Mickie to pick up the win. After the match, Alexa Bliss would decide to send a message to Bayley by grabbing a kendo stick from under the ring. Alexa would deliver a vicious kendo stick shot to Mickie’s shoulder before Bayley rushes to the ring to make the save with Bayley getting her hands on the kendo stick. Fortunately for the RAW Women’s Champion, Alexa would narrowly escape the ring, avoiding the stick for the time being. Then it was time for the main event as, following a confrontation earlier in the night, four of the five participants in the Fatal 5-Way Extreme Rules Match at Extreme Rules would face off on RAW as former Shield teammates Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins would reunite to face the team of “The Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt and “The Destroyer” Samoa Joe. During the match, Roman Reigns would go for the Superman Punch to Samoa Joe, but Joe would move out of the way and Reigns would inadvertently collide with Seth Rollins. This would spark an argument between Reigns and Rollins and the opposition would take advantage as, with Bray Wyatt pulling Roman Reigns out of the ring, Samoa Joe would lock in the Coquina Clutch on Seth Rollins, putting Seth to sleep as Samoa Joe picks up the win for his team. Backstage, as RAW General Manager Kurt Angle is watching the main event, the GM is confronted by Finn Balor, who says that he doesn’t want to be left out of the “fun” next week, requesting a match with one of the Superstars in the ring. However, Angle denies Finn Balor, saying that Finn isn’t going to be competing against one of them, he is going to be competing against two of them when Finn Balor, Samoa Joe, and Bray Wyatt face off in a Triple Threat Match! The GM then follows this up with another big announcement, saying that next week’s RAW will also feature Seth Rollins going one-on-one with Roman Reigns! Back in the ring, Bray Wyatt and Samoa Joe come face-to-face in the ring, letting the other know that their partnership was only temporary. What did you think of this week’s RAW?
