WWE WrestleMania 33 ResultsBy Cassidy| April 3, 2017 WWE PPVs Previous Page Detailed Results After WrestleMania Hosts The New Day welcome everyone to “The Ultimate Thrill Ride”, the unparalleled extravaganza known as WrestleMania kicks off its 33rd year with a personal rivalry from SmackDown LIVE as “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles would go one-on-one with SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon. It wouldn’t take long for the personal animosity to become apparent in the match with both men drilling each other with vicious shots to each other before AJ Styles delivers a baseball slide to Shane McMahon that sends the SmackDown LIVE Commissioner careening over the announce table at ringside! Later on in a superb match, Shane McMahon was able to lock in a triangle choke on AJ Styles, but “The Phenomenal One” was able to counter out of the choke into a modified version of the Styles Clash, but Shane was able to kick out! Shortly after this, an errant kick from AJ Styles would inadvertently take out the referee, leaving the match lawless! With the referee down, AJ Styles would look to take advantage, grabbing a couple of metal trash cans from under the ring. Looking to embarrass Shane McMahon on the grand stage, Styles would prop a trash can up against Shane McMahon in the corner, but when AJ tries to go Coast-to-Coast on the innovator of the move, Shane would pop up, drilling AJ with the trash can! Shane would then show “The Phenomenal One” how it’s done, successfully going Coast-to-Coast on AJ Styles, sending the trash can into the face of Styles! The referee would then come to, but AJ was able to kick out at the last possible second! With the referee still struggling to get to his feet, Shane lays AJ on the announce table at ringside and would look for his signature elbow drop, but AJ Styles rolls off of the table just in time as the Commissioner goes crashing through the table! Somehow, Shane McMahon is still able to dodge the Phenomenal Forearm, hitting AJ Styles with a float-over DDT before attempting a Shooting Star Press! Again, AJ would move out of the way before successfully hitting the Phenomenal Forearm, pinning Shane McMahon to pick up the win on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”, having survived everything the SmackDown LIVE Commissioner could dish out. The first championship match of the night would be a personal affair as two former allies would go one-on-one at “The Show of Shows” as Chris Jericho would defend the United States Championship against the man who betrayed and assaulted him, Kevin Owens. During the back-and-forth match, Kevin Owens would look to humiliate Chris Jericho by locking in Jericho’s own Walls of Jericho, but the champion would find a way out of the submission. Owens would then go for the Cannonball, but Jericho would catch Owens, locking in the Walls of Jericho on the challenger with Owens managing to make it to the bottom rope to break the hold. The challenger would then rebound with the Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Jericho was able to kick out! Kevin Owens then goes for a second Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Jericho counters into the Codebreaker with Owens getting just one finger on the bottom rope to avoid being pinned. The challenger then brings Chris Jericho to the outside, delivering a powerbomb on the ring apron before quickly rolling Jericho back into the ring, securing the one-two-three to make good on his promise to take the United States Title away from Chris Jericho as Kevin Owens leaves WrestleMania as the new United States Champion! One year after the new WWE Women’s Championship was unveiled at last year’s WrestleMania, the now RAW Women’s Championship would be defended at “The Ultimate Thrill Ride” as Bayley would get to achieve her dream of competing at WrestleMania as Bayley would defend the RAW Women’s Title against the self-proclaimed “Queen” Charlotte Flair, “The Boss” Sasha Banks, and the dominant Nia Jax in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match. After Nia Jax dominates the competition in the early going, Bayley, Sasha Banks, and Charlotte Flair would temporarily work together to try and get rid of the biggest threat in the match, leading to Bayley, Sasha, and Charlotte executing a three-person powerbomb off of the second rope before all three women hop on Nia Jax, pinning Nia to eliminate Nia first from the match. With Nia Jax out of the equation, the remaining competitors would take to the air as Sasha Banks would dive out of the ring, taking out Bayley before Charlotte Flair hits a twisting moonsault to the outside, taking out both Bayley and Sasha! Shortly after this, Charlotte Flair would expose the middle turnbuckle and this pay dividends for Charlotte as, after surviving the Bank Statement, Charlotte would send Sasha Banks face-first into the exposed steel turnbuckle, pinning Sasha to eliminate “The Boss” from the match as the match comes down to Bayley and Charlotte for the RAW Women’s Title. Charlotte then manages to lock in the Figure-Four Leg Lock on Bayley, but the champion is able to get to the ropes to break the hold. After tossing Charlotte Flair off of the top rope, Bayley would connect with the Macho Man Elbow Drop, pinning Charlotte Flair to successfully retain the RAW Women’s Title in her WrestleMania debut. In what has become a WrestleMania tradition, a multi-man Ladder Match would take place on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” as Gallows & Anderson would defend the RAW Tag Team Titles against Enzo & Big Cass and Cesaro & Sheamus in a Triple Threat Ladder Match where the first team to climb a ladder and successfully retrieve the RAW Tag Team Titles hanging high above the ring will win the match and leave WrestleMania as the RAW Tag Team Champions. However, with the match set to begin, WrestleMania Hosts The New Day would come out to the stage to announce that the Triple Threat Ladder Match will now be a Fatal 4-Way Ladder Match, but it wouldn’t be The New Day who would be joining the match. It’s then revealed that the rumors were indeed true as the Camping World Stadium comes alive with the return of The Hardy Boyz as Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy make their much-anticipated return to WWE at “The Ultimate Thrill Ride”! The Hardy Boyz would dominate the early going of the match before Enzo & Big Cass are able to use a ladder to get back into the match. The Hardy Boyz then set up two ladders on the outside, bridging the ladders on the apron and barricade, but Gallows & Anderson squash Matt & Jeff between the two ladders. Cesaro & Sheamus then take Gallows & Anderson out before trying to get a ladder into the ring. Big Cass then knocks Cesaro to the floor before tossing Enzo Amore to the outside, taking out Cesaro and Matt Hardy! Jeff Hardy then looks to springboard to the outside, but Sheamus catches Jeff with the Brogue Kick and Jeff falls, taking out several of the competitors at ringside. Back in the ring, Sheamus and Luke Gallows would both try to retrieve the RAW Tag Team Titles, but Enzo knocks the ladder over, sending Sheamus and Gallows to the mat. With the help of Big Cass, Enzo nearly retrieves the title belts before Sheamus and Gallows take Big Cass out. It then comes down to Enzo Amore and Karl Anderson battling at the top of the ladder before Enzo gets taken out. Gallows & Anderson then hits Cesaro with the Magic Killer before Matt Hardy takes out Luke Gallows with the Twist of Fate. Matt then hits Anderson with a Twist of Fate from the top of the ladder before Jeff Hardy does what he does best by putting his body on the line as, on the outside, Jeff climbs a ladder and comes off of the top with the Swanton Bomb to Cesaro & Sheamus, breaking a ladder in half with the body of Cesaro! Matt Hardy then climbs the ladder and successfully retrieves the RAW Tag Team Title belts as, in an incredibly surreal moment, The Hardy Boyz become the brand new RAW Tag Team Champions! In the battle of the power couples, WrestleMania would see John Cena team up with his girlfriend, Nikki Bella, to face The Miz and his wife Maryse in a Mixed Tag Match. In the end, it was John Cena hitting the Attitude Adjustment on The Miz while Nikki Bella hits the Rack Attack 2.0 on Maryse as Cena & Nikki pin The Miz & Maryse at the same time to pick up the win. After the match, John Cena would grab a microphone, telling Nikki Bella that, before she went into neck surgery last year, he said that, someday, he was going to ask Nikki to marry him. This is when John Cena would get down on one knee and pull out a gorgeous ring, asking Nikki Bella if she will marry him! Nikki says yes and the newly engaged couple embrace in the ring before Cena puts the ring on Nikki’s finger. Cena and Nikki then share a kiss in the ring in one of the most touching WrestleMania moments of all-time. Then it was time for a war three years in the making as, injured knee and all, Seth Rollins would step into the ring to go one-on-one with his former mentor “The Game” Triple H, with his wife and RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon in his corner, in an Unsanctioned Match, meaning that there are no rules and, no matter what happens to Seth Rollins in the match, he cannot sue Triple H, his family, or WWE. Early on in the match, Seth Rollins and Triple H would battle on the outside before Seth briefly glares at Stephanie McMahon before diving out of the ring onto Triple H. Rollins then exposes the Spanish announce table, looking for the Pedigree to Triple H, but “The Game” would strike the injured knee of Rollins before spiking Seth with a DDT on the table, which does not break. Triple H then grabs a steel chair, attacking the injured knee with the chair, beginning his dissection of his former protégé. Triple H then drapes the injured knee of Rollins between the Spanish announce table and the barricade, dropping all of his body weight onto the injured knee. Struggling to cope with the damaged knee, Seth Rollins would push himself through the pain to survive in the match, diving to the outside onto Triple H before twice sending “The Game” into the ring post. Rollins then tosses two chairs into the ring before pulling a table out from under the ring, setting the table up at ringside. Back in the ring, Seth would climb to the top rope, delivering a frog splash to the back of Triple H. Rollins then grabs a steel chair, but Triple H kicks the bad knee before hitting Seth with a spinebuster. With his sights set on ending the career of Seth Rollins, “The Game” would place the steel chair around the injured knee, stomping on the chair to wrench the knee. Triple H then climbs to the top rope, but Seth is somehow able to get to his feet, hitting Triple H with a chair. Rollins then hits a superplex on Triple H, rolling through and hitting the Falcon Arrow, but Triple H kicks out. Seth then climbs to the top rope, but this is when Stephanie McMahon would get involved, pulling Rollins off of the top rope with Seth’s injured knee being wrenched over the top rope. Triple H then locks in his modified Figure-Four but Seth is able to counter into a submission of his own but “The Game” is quick to stomp the bad knee to escape. Back on the outside, Triple H delivers another chair shot to the knee of Seth Rollins before locking in the Figure-Four on the floor with Seth desperately clawing at anything to try and escape. However, in Seth’s desperation to find anything to assist him, Rollins accidentally unearths Triple H’s signature sledgehammer. Triple H spots the sledgehammer, bringing it into the ring as Rollins and Triple H trade shots before Triple H levels Seth with a clothesline, leaving both men down in the ring. Triple H is then the first to his feet as “The Game” grabs the sledgehammer, but Seth Rollins is able to pop up and catch Triple H with a kick to the head. Seth then grabs the sledgehammer, sizing Triple H up with the weapon, but Stephanie McMahon again gets involved, this time taking the sledgehammer away from Rollins. Triple H would take advantage of the brief distraction, planting Seth Rollins with the Pedigree, but Seth is able to kick out at the last second! Triple H then brings Rollins to the top rope with the intent of hitting a top rope Pedigree, but Seth would counter before taking to the air with the Phoenix Splash to “The Game” but Triple H kicks out! Both Rollins and Triple H then look for the Pedigree before Triple H again targets the bad knee. Stephanie then gets on the ring apron, holding Seth for her husband but Rollins gets out of the way and Triple H barely avoids a collision with his wife before Rollins catches Triple H with a super kick and “The Game” stumbles into Stephanie, inadvertently knocking his wife off of the ring apron and through the table at ringside! This would leave Triple H in a state of shock and anger and Seth Rollins was quick to take advantage, planting Triple H with the Pedigree, finally securing the three-count to vanquish “The Game” at WrestleMania in grand fashion. In one of the most unusually conceived championship matches in WrestleMania history, former Wyatt Family allies would face each other for the most prestigious championship in WWE as “The Eater of Worlds” Bray Wyatt would defend the WWE Championship against “The Viper” Randy Orton. Early on in the match, Bray Wyatt would avoid the RKO before sizing Randy Orton up for Sister Abigail and this is when maggots would be projected onto the ring mat, which would scare Randy Orton out of the ring! The champion then does this again and, this time, earthworms are projected onto the ring mat, scaring the referee out of the ring! These mind games would take Randy Orton off of his game for a while before “The Viper” is able to strike big with an RKO to Bray Wyatt on the outside. Orton then brings the champion back into the ring with Bray Wyatt kicking out. The challenger then goes for the punt, but Bray counters before the champion gets planted with Orton’s signature DDT. Orton then sizes Bray up for the RKO but Bray is able to counter, hitting “The Viper” with Sister Abigail, but Orton kicks out! Bray then again uses his mind games as cockroaches are projected onto the ring mat, but before Bray can hit Sister Abigail, “The Viper” strikes with another RKO, this time keeping Bray down for the three-count as Randy Orton wins his thirteenth World Title on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”, having defeated his former master to claim the top prize in WWE! Then it was time for a WrestleMania showdown between two of the top stars in professional wrestling history as, for the first time in thirteen years, Goldberg would step onto “The Grandest Stage of Them All” to go one-on-one with “The Beast” Brock Lesnar, with Paul Heyman in his corner, one more time and, this time, the Universal Championship would be on the line. The match would start off with the ferocity that you’d expect from two explosive Superstars as Brock Lesnar is quick to grab the champion and drill Goldberg with a trio of German suplexes only for Goldberg to get right back to his feet, taking “The Beast” down with the Spear. Goldberg then sizes Brock up, delivering a second Spear to Lesnar, but the challenger is quick to roll out of the ring to avoid a similar fate as Survivor Series. However, Goldberg would not give “The Beast” any time to breathe as the champion would stalk Lesnar on the outside before charging at Lesnar and sending Brock crashing through the barricade with another Spear! Back in the ring, Goldberg would set Lesnar up for the Jackhammer, but Brock would counter, looking for the F-5, but the champion would fight out before dropping “The Beast” with a fourth Spear! Goldberg then drills Brock with the Jackhammer, but the challenger is able to kick out! With Lesnar kicking out of his best move, Goldberg would go back to the Spear, sizing “The Beast” up for a fifth Spear, but Lesnar was able to show his quickness by leaping over Goldberg, resulting in Goldberg colliding with the second turnbuckle! Brock then picks the champion up, drilling Goldberg with six back-to-back German suplexes, bringing the suplex count up to ten. With Goldberg in the heart of Suplex City, Brock Lesnar would lift Goldberg up and deliver the F-5, securing the three-count over Goldberg to become the brand new Universal Champion as “The Beast” finally beats Goldberg and does so on the biggest stage in professional wrestling! The SmackDown Women’s Championship was also on the line at WrestleMania as Alexa Bliss would have the unenviable task of defending the SmackDown Women’s Title in a Six Pack Challenge against Becky Lynch, Mickie James, Natalya, Carmella, with James Ellsworth in her corner, and Orlando’s own Naomi where the first Superstar to score a pinfall or submission would walk out as the SmackDown Women’s Champion. During the match, James Ellsworth would get into the ring, actually trying to hit Becky Lynch with No Chin Music, but Becky would counter, hitting Ellsworth with a Becksploder! Natalya then gets both Natalya and Carmella down, actually managing to lock in the Sharpshooter on both women at the same time! Mickie then hits the Mickie-T on Becky Lynch, but Carmella breaks up the pinfall before Alexa Bliss gets involved. Naomi then hits the champion with the Rear View before diving to the outside, taking out all five of her opponents. Naomi then brings Alexa into the ring, locking in a modified Crossface, making Alexa Bliss tap out to make good on her promise to regain the SmackDown Women’s Championship in her hometown of Orlando! Then it was time for the main event as, with WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross returning to call the action, the legendary and incomparable “Phenom” The Undertaker would step onto the stage he has dominated with a record of 23-1 to face a Superstar who has proclaimed that WWE is now his “yard” as The Undertaker would go one-on-one with “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns in a No Holds Barred match! Early on in the match, Roman Reigns would send The Undertaker face-first into the ring post on the outside before the action returns to the ring with Reigns and The Undertaker trading shots. On the outside, The Undertaker would expose the announce table before Roman fights back, but “The Phenom” grabs Reigns by the throat, drilling Reigns with a chokeslam on the German announce table with the table standing firm. The Undertaker then exposes the Spanish announce table as well before signaling for the Tombstone Piledriver on the announce table but Reigns would pop up with a Spear, sending both Reigns and The Undertaker crashing through the Spanish announce table! Roman Reigns is then able to get back into the ring, making his way back to his feet before The Undertaker sits up at ringside. “The Deadman” then gets back into the ring, but is caught by Reigns, who hammers The Undertaker in the corner with The Undertaker grabbing Roman and delivering the Last Ride to “The Big Dog”, but Reigns kicks out. The Undertaker then brings a steel chair into the ring, using the chair to spike Reigns in the ribs, followed with a chair shot to the back. “The Phenom” then delivers a second chair shot to Reigns and, despite taking two Superman Punches from Reigns, The Undertaker grabs Roman and delivers a chokeslam to Reigns on the steel chair, but Roman kicks out. The Undertaker then spikes Roman Reigns with the Tombstone Piledriver in the middle of the ring, but Roman somehow kicks out again! After failing to get The Undertaker up for his own Tombstone Piledriver, Reigns would instead catch “The Phenom” with another Superman Punch, following it up with the Spear. However, as Reigns crawls for the pin, The Undertaker is able to trap Reigns in the Hell’s Gate with Roman managing to get to the bottom rope. Reigns then gets his hands on the steel chair, wearing “The Phenom” out with a series of vicious chair shots. Roman Reigns then watches in disbelief as The Undertaker manages to pull himself to his feet using the ropes before Reigns blasts “The Deadman” with another Spear, but The Undertaker is able to kick out! Roman then sizes The Undertaker up, delivering his second consecutive Spear to “The Phenom”, but The Undertaker kicks out again! Reigns then catches The Undertaker with another Superman Punch with The Undertaker doing his best to sit up, but failing to do so. Roman then watches as The Undertaker slowly tries to get to his feet but only gets to his knees with The Undertaker telling Reigns, “you ain’t got the balls”. This would light a fire under Roman Reigns as Roman catches “The Phenom” with an uppercut before hitting the ropes a couple extra times, picking up the momentum he needed to hit his hardest Spear yet, finally keeping The Undertaker down for the three-count, becoming only the second Superstar in history to beat The Undertaker at WrestleMania! After Roman Reigns’ celebration finishes, The Undertaker sits up in the middle of the ring before getting to his feet and, with his hat and jacket back on, the stadium would be bathed in a blue light as the fans give The Undertaker a well-deserved standing ovation. The Undertaker then symbolically removes his iconic gloves, placing the gloves in the center of the ring before carefully folding his jacket and placing it in the ring as well. Finally, The Undertaker removes his signature hat, placing it in the center of the ring with the gloves and jacket before “The Phenom” exits the ring, kissing his wife at ringside before making the long walk up the ramp to a chorus of “Thank You ‘Taker” chants from the emotional and appreciate crowd in Orlando. The Undertaker then stops on the ramp and, in classic Undertaker fashion, looks back at the ring before raising his fist in the air and, as smoke billows from the ramp, The Undertaker descends below the stage before the lights go out in the arena and the gong sounds a few final times for The Undertaker.
