WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: March 21, 2017By Cassidy| March 22, 2017 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Before SmackDown LIVE officially gets underway, SmackDown LIVE General Manager Daniel Bryan is confronted backstage by AJ Styles as the GM states that, if it were up to him, AJ Styles would still be fired. Daniel then says that Shane McMahon is deciding to handle his personal issues with AJ Styles “like a man” and that AJ has no idea what he’s gotten himself into. After being informed that Shane McMahon has not yet arrived to the arena, AJ says that he feels a little bit of “déjà vu” from a similar situation last week so he’s going to head to the ring and tell everyone how good it felt to beat up Shane McMahon last week. AJ Styles then makes good on his promise as SmackDown LIVE gets underway with “The Phenomenal One” making his way to the ring to a mixed reaction from the crowd. Proud of his actions last week, AJ says his attack on Shane McMahon made his “heart swell” before saying that he’s glad that he got to put Shane through something last week, a car window. Styles then says that Shane had the audacity to say that he has a match at WrestleMania now, scoffing at Shane’s challenge before accepting the Commissioner’s challenge to a match on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”! AJ continues, saying that he knows what the fans are asking themselves why AJ Styles, a former WWE Champion, would want to face Shane McMahon at WrestleMania. Styles then explains that he wants to face Shane because he wants to be a part of WrestleMania before saying that, without AJ Styles, SmackDown LIVE “plummets” before saying that he is “untouchable”. AJ then says that he got “rewarded” for what he did last week because he’s going to WrestleMania. AJ then vows that he’s going to do it all over again, saying that he’s going to go and wait for Shane McMahon in the parking lot and, if they thought what he did to Shane last week was bad, then it’s about to go from “bad” to “phenomenally worse”. Styles then leaves the ring with a smile on his face, intent on giving Shane another vicious parking lot beatdown. Backstage, Baron Corbin confronts Daniel Bryan, asking the GM where Dean Ambrose is, saying that he wants to know if Ambrose accepts his challenge for an Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania. Daniel tells Corbin that, thanks to Corbin’s actions a couple of weeks ago, he hasn’t heard anything from Ambrose lately. Corbin takes this to mean that he’s getting the night off, but the GM has a different plan in mind as Bryan puts Baron Corbin in a match with the #1 Contender for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, “The Viper” Randy Orton! The opening match of the night would be for the SmackDown Tag Team Titles as American Alpha would put the tag titles on the line against their longtime rivals The Usos. During the match, Jey Uso would nearly put Jason Jordan away with a roll-up, but Jordan would kick out. Jey then catches Chad Gable with a super kick before making the tag to Jimmy Uso, who hits the Uso Splash on Gable, but Gable is able to kick out! Jimmy then makes the tag to Jey before both Usos climb to the top rope, but Jason Jordan knocks Jimmy off of the top rope before Chad Gable hits a belly-to-belly suplex to Jey Uso off of the top rope! Gable then tags in Jordan as American Alpha hit their double team bulldog on Jey, but Jimmy Uso is able to pull Jason Jordan out of the ring just before the three-count! Jordan then hits a belly-to-belly suplex to Jimmy on the outside before Jey knocks Jordan off of the ring apron. Gable then takes flight, taking out one of The Usos before Jey Uso tosses Gable over the barricade and Jordan tackles Jey into the barricade. Jordan then brings Jey into the ring and, with the referee trying to pull Jey and Jason apart, Jimmy would pull the leg of Jason Jordan, crotching Jordan on the middle rope. This would give Jey Uso the opening he needed as Jey would hit Jason Jordan with a super kick, successfully pinning Jordan for the three-count as The Usos become the brand new SmackDown Tag Team Champions! Less than two weeks before he challenges Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania, “The Viper” Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin on SmackDown LIVE. During the match, Baron Corbin would hit Randy Orton with the Deep Six, but this is when Dean Ambrose would arrive in the arena standing on a forklift. This would distract “The Lone Wolf” long enough for Randy Orton to take advantage, hitting the RKO and pinning Baron Corbin to pick up the win. After the match, Dean Ambrose would get into the ring as the Intercontinental Champion accepts Baron Corbin’s challenge for an Intercontinental Title match at WrestleMania before spiking “The Lone Wolf” with Dirty Deeds, giving Corbin a taste of what he can expect come WrestleMania! Backstage, an interview with Randy Orton is cut short when the lights begin to flicker before going out. When the lights come back on, Orton is surrounded by several individuals wearing sheep masks and, despite “The Viper” trying to fight off the masked men, he is overwhelmed. The masked men then hold Randy Orton back as Bray Wyatt enters, telling “The Viper” that Orton exposed his “one flaw” in Sister Abigail before saying that Sister Abigail’s power lives inside of him. The WWE Champion then says that, by purging Sister Abigail, Randy Orton has made him “stronger” than he’s ever been before Bray thanks Orton, singing “he’s got the whole world in his hands” to a helpless Randy Orton. With John Cena & Nikki Bella’s Mixed Tag Match against The Miz & Maryse coming up at WrestleMania, John Cena was in action on SmackDown LIVE as Cena, with Nikki Bella in his corner, would go one-on-one with Fandango, with Fandango’s tag team partner Tyler Breeze in his corner dressed as Nikki Bella. During the match, Breezy Bella would get into the ring and Nikki Bella would intercept Breezy, taking Breezy out with the Rack Attack 2.0 while John Cena hits Fandango with the Attitude Adjustment, pinning Fandango for the win. With Natalya a guest on commentary, SmackDown LIVE would see “The Irish Lass Kicker” Becky Lynch go one-on-one with “The Princess of Staten Island” Carmella, with James Ellsworth in her corner. However, the match would be a short one as it wouldn’t take long for Natalya to get into the ring, attacking Carmella to end the match by disqualification. After the match, Mickie James would rush to the ring to get involved as well as SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. Amidst the brawl, James Ellsworth would try to protect Carmella and would get taken out with a missile dropkick from Becky Lynch! Becky Lynch then hits Carmella with a Becksploder suplex before Mickie James levels Becky with a Mick Kick and Alexa takes Mickie out with a stiff forearm. This leaves the SmackDown Women’s Champion standing tall in the ring as Alexa holds her title belt high in the ring. In the parking lot, AJ Styles is still awaiting the arrival of Shane McMahon when a vehicle pulls up. However, instead of Shane McMahon, AJ Styles gets Heath Slater & Rhyno and the rouse is soon revealed once SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon makes his way to the ring! Shane says that he understands that AJ Styles is looking for him, but now he’s looking for AJ. As the Commissioner waits for AJ Styles, Shane says that Styles attacked him when he wasn’t looking before saying that AJ’s issue with him just got a whole lot worse. AJ Styles would take his time coming out to confront Shane, saying that he made a “mistake” last week and telling the Commissioner that he’s “sorry”. Now getting into the ring, AJ says that he wanted a match at WrestleMania and Shane gave him one, saying that he is going to look Shane in the eyes, tell him he’s sorry, and shake his hand. However, as soon as AJ steps foot in the ring, Shane attacks Styles, peppering AJ with lefts and rights before the fight spills to the outside. AJ then gets the better of the Commissioner, suplexing Shane into the barricade. Styles then exposes the announce table, but Shane fights back against AJ, delivering a suplex of his own on the floor! Shane then hits AJ in the mid-section with a monitor before continuing to beat Styles down. With AJ prone on the announce table, the fearless Commissioner would climb to the top rope, putting his own body on the line to soar through the air and put Styles through the announce table with a death-defying elbow drop! Referees then rush out to check on Shane and AJ with Shane getting to his feet on his own, pointing to the WrestleMania sign before referees help the Commissioner to the back.
