WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: February 28, 2017By Cassidy| March 1, 2017 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Before SmackDown LIVE officially gets underway, SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon and SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan are backstage reviewing the conclusion of the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal last week. This brings in AJ Styles, who claims that Luke Harper’s feet touched the floor first last week so they can go ahead and give him his shot at the WWE Title at WrestleMania now if they want. Shane argues that Styles is “lucky” to even still be in the conversation to be the #1 Contender with Daniel telling AJ that he will be facing Luke Harper tonight with the winner going on to WrestleMania to challenge for the WWE Title. AJ then takes the opportunity to insult Luke Harper, saying that Luke is a “hillbilly hick” and saying Luke smells like a “toenail”. Styles then discovers that Luke Harper was standing right behind him and heard the whole thing before AJ leaves the room. Harper then gets in the faces of Shane and Daniel and just says “thank you” before exiting as well. After getting eliminated by John Cena in the #1 Contender’s Battle Royal last week only to illegally come back into the ring and eliminate Cena from the match, SmackDown LIVE officially gets underway with Miz TV as The Miz & Maryse make their way to the ring. The Miz wastes no time in introducing his guest, bringing out sixteen-time former World Champion John Cena. However, The Miz does not let Cena speak, saying Cena can talk when he says Cena can talk. The Miz then says that he’s got “ten years of frustration” to get off of his chest, saying that Cena has cost him so many opportunities. The Miz continues, saying that Cena’s words to the higher-ups in WWE are “gospel” and Cena manipulates everyone who gets in his way. The Miz then says that he works “ten times harder” than Cena and his reward is getting to be the “other guy”, saying that he is not the other guy, he is The Miz. The Miz then tells Cena that Cena won’t let him be anyone else but the other guy before saying that Cena is “jealous” of him, calling Cena a “hypocrite”. The Miz continues, bringing up John Cena’s rivalry with The Rock where Cena said that The Rock went off to Hollywood while Cena did everything WWE. The Miz then says that one phone call lured Cena to Hollywood and, now, “we can’t see you”. The Miz then tells John Cena that he did “sell out” before saying that Cena is a “parody” of his former self and he’s not “Super Cena” anymore, he’s “barely decent Cena”. The Miz then says that Cena wants to have his cake and eat it too before saying that he’s been doing everything in his power to make sure that SmackDown LIVE is “must-see”. The Miz continues, saying that what bothers him most is that, when Cena came back, he was “gifted” a shot at the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble, saying that Cena “manipulated” his way into the history books. The Miz then says that, no matter how many strings John Cena pulls, there will only ever be one “greatest of all-time” before delivering his best “woo” in honor of Ric Flair. The Miz tells Cena that he took Ric Flair’s moment away from him just like Cena took so many opportunities away from The Miz, including last week’s battle royal. The Miz then says that he threw Cena out last week because he wanted Cena to know what it felt like to have his moment taken away from him and he wanted to be the one who took it away. The Miz then gives John Cena permission to speak and Cena says that The Miz goes toe-to-toe with John Cena to vent his frustrations and The Miz just says what everyone else has been saying about him for years. Cena says that, if he was really manipulating his way to the top this close to WrestleMania, he wouldn’t be standing in the ring talking to The Miz, he’d be standing face-to-face with The Undertaker! Cena then says that it’s easy for The Miz to blame him for The Miz’s shortcomings before saying that you cannot “fake heart” before saying that, love him or hate him, everybody knows who John Cena is. Cena continues, saying The Miz is “a dude named Mike” who shortened his last name and tried to “bootleg” The Rock’s electricity to try and get his foot in the door in WWE. Cena then says that, when The Miz got to WWE, The Miz “straight up stole Chris Jericho’s personality” before saying that The Miz “stole” Ric Flair’s Figure-Four Leg Lock as well as Daniel Bryan’s offense and personality. Cena then tells The Miz that Miz has been reduced to saying what AJ Styles has been saying for the past six months before saying that The Miz is a “dude dressed up as a dude playing another dude”. Cena continues, saying that the true greats like Shawn Michaels, Ric Flair, Stone Cold, and The Rock will all tell you the same thing, that they step into the ring and they are just themselves with the volume as high as it can go. Cena then calls The Miz a “trend-hopping, joke-stealing, unoriginal shell of a WWE Superstar” and they’ve been knocked down the same amount of times, but while The Miz tries to blame everyone else, he stands back up and keeps fighting. Cena then has some advice for The Miz, telling The Miz not to bring a “knife to a gun fight” and The Miz isn’t The Undertaker, but if The Miz presses him again, then The Miz will be a “dead man”! Cena then tries to leave the ring, but he’s stopped by Maryse as she tells Cena that he can’t leave the ring until they say he can leave the ring. Maryse then says that Cena’s problem is his “ego” before telling Cena, “the bigger the ego, the smaller the package”. Maryse then slaps John Cena across the face and Cena responds by saying that Maryse just made the “biggest mistake” of her life. This would bring out Nikki Bella, who makes a beeline for the ring, but The Miz & Maryse are quick to retreat into the crowd. Nikki then has a message for Maryse, telling Maryse that, if she messes with her man, then “I’m gonna break ya bitch”! This leaves John Cena & Nikki Bella standing tall together in the ring, having verbally bested The Miz & Maryse. After Mickie James used some underhanded tactics to beat Becky Lynch last week, the rematch would take place on SmackDown LIVE as Becky Lynch would go one-on-one with Mickie James in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match where the first competitor to score two falls will win the match. It would be the veteran Mickie James who would score the first fall, hitting her Mickie-T to go 1-0 against Becky Lynch in the 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. Later on in the match, Mickie James would go for a move off of the top rope, but Becky Lynch would get out of the way before surprising Mickie with a roll-up to secure the second fall, evening things up in the match. With both Becky Lynch and Mickie James down in the ring, SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss would come down to ringside. Becky then hits a pumphandle slam on Mickie but Alexa would get on the ring apron, distracting the referee. This leads to Becky getting in the face of the champion and Mickie James would look for a cheap shot, but Becky would side-step and Mickie would inadvertently knock Alexa Bliss off of the ring apron. Becky then locks in the Dis-Arm-Her, making Mickie tap out to pick up the win in the 2-out-of-3 Falls Match. Backstage, an interview with SmackDown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss is interrupted by Natalya as Natalya says that her and Alexa are both “winners” and they are both “championship caliber Superstars”. Natalya then says that it’s all about Alexa Bliss until she takes the title from Alexa. With a match against Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania on the line, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles would go one-on-one with Luke Harper with the winner punching their ticket to WrestleMania. In an incredible match, Luke Harper would dominate most of the match, even diving to the outside to take out AJ Styles, but it was AJ who would hit Harper with the Phenomenal Forearm and, despite Harper getting his foot on the bottom rope, the referee would count to three, awarding the match to AJ Styles as AJ will face Bray Wyatt for the WWE Title at WrestleMania! However, SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon comes out, declaring that Luke Harper’s foot was clearly on the bottom rope before ordering the match to be restarted! The match would indeed be restarted and, after Luke Harper knocks AJ Styles to the outside, AJ gets in the face of Shane McMahon, arguing with the SmackDown Commissioner. This is when Harper would try to hit AJ with a super kick but Harper would inadvertently kick Shane McMahon! With the SmackDown Commissioner down on the outside, AJ would send Harper into the ring post before rolling Harper back into the ring. Styles would then size Harper up before hitting the springboard 450 Splash, pinning Luke Harper in the middle of the ring to win the match, meaning that Styles will challenge Bray Wyatt for the WWE Title at WrestleMania! After the match, AJ Styles would exit the ring, taking the time to point a finger and shout at Shane McMahon as “The Phenomenal One” punches his ticket to WrestleMania. The Intercontinental Champion was set for action on SmackDown LIVE as Dean Ambrose was scheduled to go one-on-one with Curt Hawkins. However, Dean Ambrose just makes a beeline for the ring and spikes Curt Hawkins with Dirty Deeds before grabbing a microphone. Ambrose says that, when you get pushed, you have to “push back”, telling Baron Corbin that messing with Dean Ambrose is a “very, very bad idea”. The Intercontinental Champion then calls Baron Corbin out to the ring to fight him right now but Baron Corbin appears on the Tron. “The Lone Wolf” tells Ambrose that he doesn’t just come to the ring when Ambrose calls his name before saying that Ambrose is a “deer standing in the middle of the road” and he is going to run Ambrose over. Corbin then says that Ambrose cost him something and, now, he is going to take “everything” from Dean Ambrose. Ambrose responds by telling Corbin not to start what he can’t finish and they are “far from finished”. After being assaulted repeatedly with a steel chair by Dolph Ziggler, Apollo Crews was out for revenge on SmackDown LIVE as Apollo Crews would go one-on-one with Dolph Ziggler in a Chairs Match, where steel chairs are legal to use. Apollo Crews would be the first to use a chair in the match, taking Dolph Ziggler down and, with a chair lying on Dolph, Crews would hit a standing moonsault, but Ziggler would kick out. Shortly after this, Dolph looks for a super kick, but Apollo catches Ziggler’s foot before hitting an Angle Slam on the steel chair. Dolph would then use a rake to the eyes to regain the advantage before dropping Crews throat-first into a steel chair! Ziggler then picks Apollo up, racking Apollo on the steel chair, pinning Crews to pick up the win. Now that he knows that he will defend the WWE Championship against AJ Styles at WrestleMania, WWE Champion Bray Wyatt would make an appearance on SmackDown LIVE with a message for his WrestleMania opponent. The champion says that it didn’t matter to him whether AJ Styles or Luke Harper became the #1 Contender because they are both “mortals”. Bray then says that Styles is going to end up just like “all the rest” before saying that he comes from “hallowed ground” and he comes from a place that begins from the dirt and stretches all the way down to a “molten core”. The champion then reveals that the place he is talking about is a place that Randy Orton is at right now. Orton then appears on the Tron from what appears to be The Wyatt Family compound as “The Viper” stands in a shed with the eerie rocking chair of Bray Wyatt. Orton says that Bray gave him the “keys to the kingdom” and he stands in that kingdom and he can smell the “stench of evil” in the air. Orton then tells Bray, “this is your world, but it’s not mine”! Orton says that he once said, “if you can’t beat ‘em, join ‘em” before telling Bray that he has another saying, telling Bray, “if you can’t beat ‘em, screw ‘em”! Orton continues, saying that the ground he stands on is “sacred ground” before saying that underneath the floor is the “sister of Satan” himself, Abigail. “The Viper” then reveals that Sister Abigail was put to rest directly below his feet before Orton picks up a miner’s axe. Orton then asks Bray how long it’s been that the “maggots” have been eating her “flesh and bones”, saying that all that is left is her “wretched spirit”. Orton then tells Bray that he sees Bray for the first time as being “helpless” and “ready to explode” before saying that he is going to “burn the spirit” of Sister Abigail to death and watch Bray “die with her”. Orton then says that he said that, as long as Bray is his master and he is the servant, he would pledge his “undying devotion” to him. Orton continues, saying that, in a moment, he will be the “master” while Bray will be the “servant”! Orton then stops the rocking chair from rocking before “The Viper” takes a can of gasoline and douses Bray’s place of worship in the gas. Orton then douses the rocking chair in gasoline and, as Bray is on his knees talking to himself in the ring, Orton tells Bray that he is coming for Wyatt at WrestleMania. Orton then looks into a hole in the floor where dirt and worms have been exposed with Orton emptying a can of gas into the supposed grave of Sister Abigail. Orton then says that Bray is about to hear Sister Abigail “scream” for the first time since she took her “last breath”. As Bray is in tears in the middle of the ring, Orton continues to dump gasoline all over the hallowed ground before exiting the building, leaving a trail of gasoline behind him. With Bray Wyatt screaming for Randy Orton not to do it, Orton would light a flame before declaring that he is going to burn the “soul of Sister Abigail to eternal damnation”. Orton then ignites the gasoline as the entire house of worship goes up in flames as Bray Wyatt goes absolutely insane at ringside, screaming and crying as all he has ever known gets burned to ashes and the remains of the fabled Sister Abigail become charcoal at the hands of Randy Orton.
