WWE RAW Results: January 30, 2017By Cassidy| January 31, 2017 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results One night after Braun Strowman interfered to lend him a major assist in a hellacious No Disqualification match for the WWE Universal Championship against Roman Reigns with Chris Jericho locked in a shark cage above the ring at the Royal Rumble, RAW kicks off with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and United States Champion Chris Jericho with Owens looking worse for wear following his war against Roman Reigns. Owens says that almost everyone thought that he had “no chance” to leave the Royal Rumble as the WWE Universal Champion but he has made a career out of proving people wrong. Owens then says that, at the Royal Rumble, he proved RAW General Manager Mick Foley “wrong”, saying that the GM set him and Jericho up for “failure” before declaring that he is “the man” and he is “the one”. The WWE Universal Champion then says that he is man enough to admit that he had some help at the Royal Rumble before Owens thanks Jericho for his help, saying that Jericho’s friendship and “moral support” is what kept him going and it’s because of him that he is still the champion. Kevin Owens then declares that Chris Jericho proved in the Royal Rumble Match that he is the “greatest Royal Rumble competitor of all-time” . The United States Champion then offers up the impressive time of 4 hours, 56 minutes, and 12 seconds, which is the amount of cumulative time spent in the Royal Rumble Match throughout his career, which is more than any other Superstar in WWE history. Jericho continues, saying that that he’s the “sixty-one minute man” as he lasted just that long in the Royal Rumble Match last night. Jericho then claims that the only reason that he didn’t win the Royal Rumble Match is because he was suffering from a bad case of “vertigo” from being suspended above the ring in the shark cage. “The Monster Among Men” then interrupts as Braun Strowman makes his way to the ring to confront Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho. Strowman says that he got involved at the Royal Rumble because, one, he doesn’t like Roman Reigns and, two, he wants the shot at the WWE Universal Title that Kevin Owens promised him. Owens responds by saying that interfering in a title match without anyone asking him to doesn’t entitle him to a WWE Universal Title match. However, Braun Strowman says he has proof, showing footage from RAW last month where Kevin Owens tells Strowman that, after he beats Roman Reigns at the Royal Rumble, Braun is the next in line for a title shot! Owens is still skeptical that he said that, but Strowman isn’t having any of it as Braun says that Owens is going to give him his shot at the WWE Universal Title tonight or he’s going to break Kevin Owens in half! This brings out RAW General Manager Mick Foley, who says that Kevin Owens did promise Braun Strowman a shot at the WWE Universal Title with Owens arguing that, of all people, Foley should know about the punishment he suffered at the Royal Rumble. Owens then says that he shouldn’t have to compete tonight after what he went through at the Royal Rumble, let alone against someone like Braun Strowman. The GM agrees that Owens went through hell at the Royal Rumble, but it might be a “round trip” for Owens because he will defend the WWE Universal Title against Braun Strowman tonight on RAW! After both men had impressive showings in the Royal Rumble Match, the opening match of the night would see “The Underdog from the Underground” Sami Zayn go one-on-one with United States Champion Chris Jericho in a non-title match. After surviving the Walls of Jericho, Sami Zayn would suplex Chris Jericho into the corner before scoring with the Helluva Kick, pinning the United States Champion to pick up the win, potentially earning himself a future shot at the United States Title. Backstage, WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens confronts RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon with Owens saying that he has been doing everything in his power to make Stephanie as well as Triple H proud, but he’s hurting. Stephanie says that she had “no idea” that Mick Foley was going to make Owens defend his title against Braun Strowman so, after she gets finished with her business with Seth Rollins, she will see about getting Owens’ title defense “cancelled”. The Cruiserweights were in action on RAW as “The Premier Athlete” Tony Nese would go one-on-one with Mustafa Ali. In the end, it was Tony Nese hitting a running knee to Mustafa Ali in the corner, pinning Ali to pick up the win. After invading NXT TakeOver: San Antonio on Saturday night to call out Triple H only for Triple H to have him escorted from the building by security, “The Architect” Seth Rollins would make an appearance on RAW to go face-to-face with Triple H’s wife and RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon. Seth says that he may have been banned from the arena for the Royal Rumble event before saying that he knows that Stephanie wanted to come out there first so she could “scold” him. Rollins then says that “princesses” don’t always get what they want before calling Stephanie out to the ring. The RAW Commissioner then makes her way to the ring to confront Seth Rollins, saying that Seth is not going to rattle her cage before saying that Triple H is not here tonight. Rollins says that he doesn’t really care about Stephanie, he cares about her “coward husband”, asking Stephanie when she’s going to let Triple H off of his “leash”! Stephanie says that Triple H is afraid that he will “destroy” what he created in Seth Rollins before revealing that she asked Triple H to “stay away”. Seth responds by saying that Stephanie is “delusional” with the RAW Commissioner saying that the former Authority member should be out there “begging for forgiveness” from her and her husband. Stephanie then says that Seth owes her and Triple H an “apology” with Rollins saying that he’s “sorry” that Triple H’s entire legacy is about to “go up in smoke” because Triple H refuses to face him. Seth Rollins then says that he called out Triple H on Saturday night at NXT TakeOver: San Antonio but Triple H just had security escort him out of the arena. Seth then says that the man he saw in a suit at TakeOver wasn’t Triple H, it was a “scared dude” before saying that he is the “greatest threat” to Triple H’s legacy that Triple H has ever seen. Rollins continues, saying that Triple H knows it, the fans know it, and, judging by how Stephanie looks at him, Stephanie knows it too. The RAW Commissioner says that she looks at Seth with nothing but “disgust”, saying that Rollins doesn’t “measure up” to Triple H, saying that if Rollins wants to keep “playing the game”, he’s going to be the “architect” of his own “demise”. Seth then tells Stephanie that he’s got “nothing left to lose”, asking Stephanie how the “suits and ties” at WWE Headquarters are going to feel when he shows up at the next Board of Directors meeting and how is Stephanie’s father Vince McMahon going to feel when he invades WWE Headquarters. Rollins then makes things even more personal, asking what’s going to happen when he shows up at Stephanie and Triple H’s home and one of their “little kids” answer the door. Seth continues, declaring that this doesn’t end until he gets his hands on Triple H and he “slays the king”. Stephanie then reveals that she “lied”, proclaiming that Triple H is on his way to the arena right now, saying that Triple H is “coming” and he’s coming for Seth Rollins! This elates Seth Rollins as Stephanie McMahon storms off to the back as Rollins eagerly anticipates his face-to-face confrontation with Triple H. After a rough night at the Royal Rumble where they lost the RAW Tag Team Titles to Gallows & Anderson on the Royal Rumble Kickoff, Cesaro & Sheamus would team up with Bayley to face the team of the new RAW Tag Team Champions Gallows & Anderson and RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair in a 6-Person Mixed Tag Match. In the end, it was Bayley hitting Charlotte Flair with the Bayley-to-Belly, pinning the RAW Women’s Champion to pick up the win for her team. Backstage, RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon confronts RAW General Manager Mick Foley, outraged over Foley making a WWE Universal Title match without her knowledge. The GM argues that, last week, Triple H’s music just happened to play during a match between Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn. Stephanie tries to deflect the accusation, blaming the music on the production team with Foley telling Stephanie that he’s not stupid. The Commissioner then says that Triple H will be on RAW tonight with Foley asking Stephanie to let him keep his word, saying that the WWE Universal Title match should be a good match unless Triple H’s music plays again. Stephanie then just glares at the GM before Foley leaves the office. After making Rich Swann tap out at the Royal Rumble to win the Cruiserweight Title, the brand new Cruiserweight Champion Neville would appear on RAW for his “coronation” as the true “King of the Cruiserweights”. The new champion holds the Cruiserweight Title up, saying that the Cruiserweight Title is his “crown” and, now, 205 Live belongs to the “king”. Neville then says that he proved every one of the fans wrong at the Royal Rumble, saying that they never “cared” about him and, now, he’s the “undisputed King of the Cruiserweights”. This brings out the former champion as Rich Swann makes his way to the ring, saying that he’s going to wait for his opportunity because he’s entitled to a rematch for the Cruiserweight Title. Rich then says that the fight between Neville and the fans is going on in Neville’s “head” before saying that, at the Royal Rumble, Neville proved that he is the “one of the very best”, offering his hand to Neville in a show of respect. However, Neville tells Rich Swann that you don’t offer your hand to the king, you bend at the knee and “bow”. Rich then turns his back to leave the ring with Neville attacking Swann from behind, but the former champion fights back, scoring with a big kick to the head of Neville. Swann then dives to the outside, taking Neville down as the champion scrambles up the ramp with Rich Swann left standing tall. In, potentially, his toughest title defense to date, Kevin Owens would defend the WWE Universal Championship against “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman with United States Champion Chris Jericho a guest on commentary. However, before Braun Strowman would make his way down to the ring, “The Monster Among Men” had a detour in mind as Braun would spot Chris Jericho at the announce position. Knowing that Chris Jericho could potentially cost him the WWE Universal Title, Braun would decide to strike first, knocking the United States Champion away from the announce position before exposing the announce table and putting Jericho through the table with a chokeslam! Braun Strowman then marches to the ring where Kevin Owens stands, clearly fearful of losing the title now that his best friend was taken out. As Chris Jericho is helped to the back, the WWE Universal Title match between Kevin Owens and Braun Strowman gets underway. In the early going, Braun Strowman would dominate the weakened champion, but Kevin Owens finds a way to fight back on the outside, delivering a Cannonball to Strowman into the barricade. Back in the ring, Owens would nearly put Braun away with a frog splash, but when the champion goes to the top rope again, Braun grabs Owens and delivers the running powerslam. Before “The Monster Among Men” can capitalize, Roman Reigns would make his way to the ring with revenge on his mind for Braun costing him the title at the Royal Rumble. Roman would fearlessly enter the ring and catch Strowman with the Superman Punch, but Braun would stay on his feet. Reigns then sends Strowman over the top rope to the outside, launching himself at Braun with a second Superman Punch. With Strowman still on his feet, Roman Reigns would charge at Braun, taking flight off of the steel steps with a huge Spear to “The Monster Among Men”, finally taking Braun down! Reigns then spots Kevin Owens getting to his feet in the ring, deciding to blast the WWE Universal Champion with a Spear as well! Roman then exits the ring as Braun Strowman is already back on his feet before Strowman angrily stomps to the back. After being shockingly dominated by Goldberg during the Royal Rumble Match where Goldberg delivered a Spear and eliminated him, “The Beast” Brock Lesnar and his advocate Paul Heyman would make an unexpected appearance on RAW. Referring to Brock Lesnar as the “disgraced beast”, Paul Heyman says that they are at a point in history where they must admit that every legend has that one “argument” against them that says “yeah, but”. Heyman says that Andre The Giant was undefeated for fifteen years before coming up against Hulk Hogan and The Undertaker was undefeated at WrestleMania until he stepped into the ring with Brock Lesnar. Heyman continues, saying that soon-to-be WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle won an Olympic gold medal in 1996, but he says “yeah, but Brock Lesnar”. Heyman then says that, now, every time he says “Brock Lesnar”, someone says “yeah, but Goldberg” before saying that “yeah, but” is the argument against Brock Lesnar and it must be “taken away” and must be “killed”. The advocate then makes the blockbuster announcement that Brock Lesnar is hereby challenging Goldberg to one more match at WrestleMania! Heyman then says that “one legacy” eclipses the “footnote” before saying that the story of Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar tells that the odds are in Goldberg’s favor, but Brock’s response to that is “yeah, but”. Following her loss to Nia Jax on the Royal Rumble Kickoff, “The Boss” would get her shot at redemption on RAW as, despite her injured knee, Sasha Banks would go one-on-one with the dominant Nia Jax. Early on in the match, Nia Jax would bring Sasha Banks to the outside where Nia would swing Sasha injured knee-first into the ring post before bringing “The Boss” back into the ring. Nia would then continue to try and destroy the knee of Sasha Banks, even locking in a submission to further punish the knee. This is when the bell would mysteriously ring despite the referee not calling for it. Despite the bell ringing, Nia Jax would continue to try and break Sasha Banks in half before letting go of the submission. However, Nia would show no remorse, locking in the submission again, continuing to torture “The Boss” to the point that Bayley comes out to the ring. Bayley keeps her distance as Nia Jax finally breaks the hold, leaving the ring as Bayley checks on Sasha’s condition. RAW would then present a rarely seen Tornado Tag Match as Enzo & Big Cass would face the self-proclaimed “Handsome” Rusev & Jinder Mahal, with Lana in their corner, in a match where all four participants would be legal in the ring at the same time. At the end of a chaotic match, it was Enzo & Big Cass hitting Rusev with the Bada Boom Shakalaka with Enzo pinning Rusev for the win. In a confrontation months in the making, Stephanie McMahon would make good on her promise from earlier in the night as, for the first time since August, WWE COO “The Game” Triple H would make his way to the ring on RAW. Triple H says that he plucked Seth Rollins from “obscurity” and, standing by his side, Seth Rollins would get everything from this business that he could ever want, including the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Triple H then says that all Seth had to do was hold up his end of the bargain but he “collapsed” under the weight of it all with his knee giving out. Triple H then mocks crying as “The Game” recalls Seth Rollins handing the championship over to him after his injury, saying that he handed everything to Seth Rollins on a “silver platter” and Rollins spit in his face by forfeiting the title. Triple H continues, saying that, seven months later, Seth Rollins would return and, without him, Seth was a “massive failure”. Triple H then says that Seth’s failure was blamed on him, saying that he doesn’t feel like he owes Rollins an “apology”. The COO then says that none of them have any idea how difficult it is for him to not come to the ring when Seth Rollins calls him out, saying that it’s not because his wife asks him not to come out there. Triple H says that it’s “best for business” that he doesn’t come to the ring when Seth calls him out, saying that he’s trying so hard not to be “that guy” that ends careers and “crushes dreams” without giving a “crap” about what anyone thinks. Triple H continues, saying that, every day, he puts on a tie and tries to put those days behind him and tries to be a “creator”. Triple H then says that Seth Rollins came to NXT, where he is trying to create the “next Seth freakin’ Rollins” before saying that he is “so done trying”. This is when Triple H would take off his suit jacket and tie, saying that Seth Rollins doesn’t have to worry about going to his house because he’s standing there right now. Triple H then says that Seth Rollins already knows who his “creator” is, telling Seth to come out there and meet his “destroyer”. Seth Rollins would waste no time in coming out to the stage and making his way towards the ring, chomping at the bit for a piece of Triple H that he has waited for since August, but when Seth gets to ringside, he is blindsided by none other than Samoa Joe! The former NXT Champion would pummel Seth Rollins before sending Seth face-first into the steel steps. As Triple H calmly puts on his suit jacket and leaves the ring, Samoa Joe twice tosses Seth into the ringside barricade. With Rollins down on the floor, Triple H would stare down at Seth Rollins and, as Triple H walks away, Samoa Joe rolls Seth into the ring. Despite Rollins’ attempts to fight back, Samoa Joe would overwhelm Rollins, squashing Rollins with three big sentons before locking in the Coquina Clutch on Rollins, rendering Seth unconscious before finally letting go of the hold, leaving Rollins motionless in the ring. The dangerous Superstar then stands over the broken Seth Rollins, making it clear that Triple H has gotten himself a hell of an enforcer in the form of Samoa Joe.
