WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs 2016 ResultsBy Cassidy| December 5, 2016 WWE PPVs Previous Page Detailed Results The eighth annual WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs kicks off with gold on the line as Heath Slater & Rhyno face their toughest test to date as they would defend the SmackDown Tag Team Titles against the unholy alliance of The Wyatt Family’s Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton, with Luke Harper in their corner. During the match, Rhyno would look to take Randy Orton out with the Gore on the outside, but Luke Harper would shove Orton out of the way, sacrificing himself for the good of The Wyatt Family! This would prove to be crucial as, back in the ring, Randy Orton would then hit Rhyno with the RKO, pinning Rhyno as Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton are crowned the brand new SmackDown Tag Team Champions! In a sign of solidarity, both Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton would hand their tag title belt to Luke Harper, letting Harper hold the gold as The Wyatt Family stand united in the ring, now ruling the SmackDown LIVE tag team division as the SmackDown Tag Team Champions. In the first lawless match of the night, the personal rivalry between Nikki Bella and Carmella would be settled with nothing to hold the two Superstars back as Nikki Bella would face Carmella in a No Disqualification Match. Early on in the match, Carmella would use a headscissors takedown to send Nikki Bella into the steel steps, appearing to hurt the left leg of Nikki Bella, putting a target on the leg throughout the match. Carmella would then put Nikki in the tree of woe in the corner before “The Princess of Staten Island” grabs a kendo stick, delivering kendo stick shots to the hurt leg of Nikki Bella. Nikki would try to fight back, but Carmella would fend Nikki off with additional stick shots. Carmella then locks in the Code of Silence, but Nikki is able to reach the kendo stick, hitting Carmella in the shoulder with the stick to break the hold. On the outside, Carmella would take Nikki Bella into the ringside barricade before Nikki responds by sending Carmella into the ring post. Nikki then climbs onto the barricade, hitting a roundhouse kick to Carmella! Back in the ring, Nikki would wear Carmella out with kendo stick shots to the backside of “The Princess of Staten Island”. Carmella would send Nikki out of the ring, but Bella would spray Carmella in the face with a fire extinguisher. Nikki then continues to spray the fire extinguisher on the backside of Carmella in the ring before hitting Carmella with the Rack Attack 2.0, pinning Carmella for the win. After the match, Carmella wasn’t through with Nikki Bella as Carmella claims that she wasn’t the one who attacked Nikki Bella at Survivor Series, revealing that it was Natalya who attacked Nikki and took her out of the match at Survivor Series! In what would look to be a definitive conclusion to the intense rivalry over the Intercontinental Championship, The Miz, with Maryse in his corner, would defend the prestigious Intercontinental Championship against “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler in a Ladder Match, where the only way to win is to climb a ladder and retrieve the Intercontinental Title belt hanging high above the ring. The match would start with champion and challenger going counter-for-counter in the ring before the battle spills to the outside. Dolph Ziggler would then try to send The Miz into a ladder set up in the entranceway, but The Miz would counter before blasting Dolph with a big boot. The champion then grabs a ladder, narrowly missing Ziggler before Dolph makes sure The Miz is the first one to taste the steel, sending Miz face-first into a ladder. The Miz then fights back, driving the ladder into Dolph’s mid-section with Ziggler fighting back, taking control for the time being. Dolph then puts The Miz’s head in the ladder, attempting to smash the champion’s head, but The Miz moves out of the way just in time before using a drop toehold to drop Ziggler face-first on the ladder. The Miz then tries to pull the ladder into the ring before Dolph Ziggler catches The Miz with the ladder to the face, but Miz fires back, shoving the ladder back into Dolph. Both champion and challenger then manage to get back to their feet, engaging in a tug-of-war over a ladder with Dolph using the ladder to send The Miz shoulder-first into the ring post, again leaving both men laid out on the floor. Dolph then goes for the Famouser on the ladder, but The Miz tries to counter before Dolph counters, hitting his patented DDT on the steel ladder! With The Miz seemingly out of it, “The Show Off” would grab a large ladder, attempting to set up the ladder in the ring, but this is when The Miz would pick his spot, knocking the challenger down. The Miz then bridges the ladder on the second rope, trapping Dolph between the ladder and the corner, delivering a dropkick into the ladder into Dolph’s mid-section. The champion then tries to use the ladder as a platform to suplex Ziggler from, but Dolph counters, sending Miz face-first off of the ladder. Dolph then leaps over the ladder with an elbow drop to The Miz, following it up by sending The Miz face-first into the bridged ladder. Dolph then grabs another ladder, setting it up in the middle of the ring, making the climb for the first time in the match with The Miz repeatedly pulling the challenger off of the ladder. Ziggler then levels The Miz with a clothesline, tossing the champion out of the ring before climbing the ladder again, but The Miz comes back into the ring, tipping the ladder over as “The Show Off” bounces off of the top rope. As Dolph pulls himself to his feet in the corner, The Miz sandwiches “The Show Off” in the corner with a ladder before mocking Daniel Bryan by delivering repeated dropkicks to Dolph in the corner. However, Ziggler would fire back by tossing the ladder into the face of the champion before the challenger sets up the ladder in the middle of the ring again. Dolph then makes the slow climb up the ladder, but The Miz meets Ziggler at the top of the ladder as both men trade shots with “The Show Off” managing to knock the champion off of the ladder. The Miz would then target the leg of the challenger, slamming Dolph’s left leg into the ladder before knocking the ladder over. The champion then picks Ziggler up, slamming Dolph knee-first onto the ladder before dragging Ziggler to the ladder and repeatedly opening and slamming the ladder closed on the leg of Dolph. The Miz then uses the ladder for a punishing variation of the Figure-Four Leg Lock before The Miz climbs the ladder, this time getting his hands on the title. However, before The Miz could unhook the title belt, Dolph knocks the ladder over, leaving The Miz hanging precariously above the ring! The challenger then uses the ladder to knock The Miz’s grip loose as the champion lands hard in the ring, immediately grabbing his leg and screaming in pain, rolling to the outside. With two ladders set up in the ring, Dolph would then try to climb the ladder again, but with Ziggler moments away from grabbing the title belt, The Miz would manage to get himself back into the ring on one leg. The champion then hobbles up the ladder, resorting to using two low blows to Dolph Ziggler, knocking Dolph off of the ladder as The Miz pulls himself up the ladder, retrieving the title belt as The Miz successfully retains the Intercontinental Title in a hellacious Ladder Match! After the match, The Miz dedicates his win to SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan, saying that Bryan’s hatred of him gave him the motivation to win before The Miz declares himself the “greatest Intercontinental Champion of all-time.” WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs would not be complete without a Chairs Match as Kalisto would go one-on-one with Baron Corbin in the unique match where steel chairs are legal. After enduring the early onslaught of Kalisto, Baron Corbin would toss the high-flyer around the ringside area, hurling Kalisto into several steel chairs on the outside. Back in the ring, “The Lone Wolf” would continue to wear Kalisto down, wedging a chair in between the ropes in the corner. Corbin then sets up six steel chairs, all facing each other, in the ring before Kalisto sends Corbin face-first into the steel chair in the corner. Kalisto then climbs to the top rope, diving onto Baron Corbin with a seated senton that sends “The Lone Wolf” crashing through the six steel chairs, but Corbin is somehow able to kick out! Kalisto then looks to dive onto Baron Corbin on the outside, but Corbin catches the high-flyer, delivering Deep Six to Kalisto on the floor! “The Lone Wolf” then rolls Kalisto back into the ring, failing to get the three-count before hammering Kalisto with vicious forearms. Corbin then makes a pile of steel chairs in the ring before exiting the ring with chair in hand. Corbin then stalks Kalisto around the ring, trying to squash Kalisto with chair shots, but Kalisto would use his quickness to avoid the chair shots. Kalisto then tosses a chair at Baron Corbin before using a dropkick to send “The Lone Wolf” back-first into the barricade. Back in the ring, Kalisto puts a steel chair on the chest of Baron Corbin before climbing to the top rope, hitting a modified moonsault, driving his knees into the chair but Baron Corbin manages to kick out again! Kalisto then grabs a steel chair, delivering repeated chair shots to the back and shoulder of “The Lone Wolf”. Kalisto then adds more steel chairs to the pile in the middle of the ring before heading to the top rope, but when Kalisto dives off of the top rope, Corbin tosses a chair in the face of Kalisto! Corbin then follows this up with the End of Days on the pile of steel chairs, pinning Kalisto to pick up the win, surviving the vicious Chairs Match against a very formidable opponent. Backstage, Natalya is interviewed about the allegations made by Carmella that she attacked Nikki Bella at Survivor Series. Natalya then puts Becky Lynch over, wishing Becky luck in defending the SmackDown Women’s Title tonight. Natalya then calls the accusations made by Carmella “absurd” before calling Carmella a “liar”. After their match for the SmackDown Women’s Title in Scotland last month ended in controversy, the rematch would take place at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders, & Chairs as Becky Lynch would defend the SmackDown Women’s Title against Alexa Bliss in a Tables Match, where the only way to win is by putting your opponent through a table. Early in the match, Becky Lynch would try to get a table out from under the ring, but Alexa Bliss would take the champion down with a dropkick before pushing the table back under the ring. Back in the ring, Becky would battle back, taking the challenger down before getting a table from under the ring again as the champion sets the table up at ringside. Becky then looks to suplex Alexa to the outside, but the challenger counters, bringing Becky back into the ring. Becky then tries to knock Alexa off of the ring apron through the table, but the challenger resorts to biting the champion to save herself from defeat. Bliss then pulls her own table out from under the ring, sending Becky face-first into the ring post before sliding the table into the ring. The challenger then sets the table up in the ring before Bliss continues to beat Becky down. Alexa then puts the champion on the table before climbing to the top rope, but Becky gets off of the table, meeting Bliss on the top rope. Alexa then kicks Becky away before the challenger props the table up in the corner, but Becky fights back as both Superstars do their best to avoid going through the table. Alexa then scores with double knees to the mid-section of the champion before trying to slam the table on top of Becky, but Becky is able to avoid the contact. The challenger then sets the table up in the ring again before Becky tries to put Alexa through the table, but Bliss flips the table over before scoring with a DDT to Becky on the underside of the table, leaving both competitors laid out! Becky then uses the metal leg of the table to trap Alexa Bliss in a modified version of the Dis-Arm-Her, looking to keep the challenger from being able to set the table up. Becky then sets the table up on the bottom rope in the corner, putting Alexa on the table before climbing to the top rope. However, Bliss is able to counter with a kick to the face before tossing the champion off of the top rope. Becky then manages to send Bliss face-first off of the table before the action heads out to the ring apron as both champion and challenger battle above the table set up at ringside. Becky then knocks Alexa off of the ring apron before Bliss is able to grab Becky, delivering a powerbomb to Becky through the table to win the match and become the new SmackDown Women’s Champion! After the match, a visibly upset Becky Lynch was in no mood to be interviewed as Alexa walks out the new top Superstar of the SmackDown LIVE women’s division. Then it was time for the main event as the rivalry between AJ Styles and Dean Ambrose would be taken to a new extreme as AJ Styles would defend the WWE World Championship against “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose in a Tables, Ladders, & Chairs Match where all three weapons are perfectly legal in the match and the only way to win is by climbing a ladder and retrieving the WWE World Title hanging above the ring. It wouldn’t take long for a ladder to come into play in the match as a ladder would be set up in the ring before the fight heads to the outside. Dean Ambrose then tosses AJ Styles across a table before dropping the champion face-first onto a steel chair, following it up with a suplex to Styles on a piece of steel next to the entranceway. The challenger then puts Styles on a table near the stage before climbing one of the gigantic ladders set up by the stage. However, AJ rolls off of the table before the match heads into the crowd and back into the ringside area. After crotching AJ Styles on the barricade, Dean Ambrose would grab a steel chair, charging full-force at the champion, leveling the champion with the chair. Back in the ring, AJ Styles would fight back, tossing the ladder into the face of Dean Ambrose before leaning the ladder against the ropes. However, it would be AJ who would taste the steel as Dean Ambrose launches Styles face-first onto the ladder before AJ falls to the outside. The challenger then tosses the ladder out of the ring, right into the head of AJ Styles. “The Lunatic Fringe” then starts to set a table up in the ring before AJ comes in with a steel chair, wearing Ambrose down with the chair before opening the chair and slamming Ambrose back-first on the steel, breaking the chair. The champion then brings a few more chairs in the ring, opening four chairs up in the ring before trying to suplex Ambrose through the steel but “The Lunatic Fringe” would counter with a modified reverse suplex, sending Styles crashing back-first through the steel chairs! Dean Ambrose then dives off of the top rope with a steel chair-aided elbow drop to the chest of the champion before the challenger props a table up in the corner, but Ambrose is unable to put AJ Styles through the table as Styles is quick to counter, suplexing Ambrose through the table! AJ then looks for the Phenomenal Forearm, but “The Lunatic Fringe” counters before tossing Styles to the outside. Ambrose then dives to the outside, taking out Styles, before exposing two of the three announce tables at ringside. The challenger then sets a ladder up on the German announce table, pounding on AJ Styles further before climbing the elevated ladder, putting his own body on the line as “The Lunatic Fringe” dives off of the elevated ladder with a huge elbow drop to AJ Styles through the announce table! Convinced that he had taken AJ Styles out, Dean Ambrose would grab a ladder, setting it up in the ring and slowly making his way towards the WWE World Title belt. However, AJ Styles is somehow able to pull himself up to the ring apron as the champion leaps off of the top rope with the Phenomenal Forearm, knocking Ambrose off of the ladder! Both Styles and Ambrose would then make their way up the ladder, trading shots at the top of the ladder before both champion and challenger knock the other off of the ladder. Ambrose then looks for Dirty Deeds, but AJ counters before Ambrose counters as the challenger spins AJ Styles’ body into the ladder! “The Lunatic Fringe” then slowly climbs up the ladder again, but the champion pulls Ambrose off of the ladder, looking for a powerbomb with Ambrose managing to take himself and Styles to the outside. Styles then battles back, delivering his patented moonsault into a reverse DDT on the floor before the champion sets a table up. With Ambrose lying prone on the table, AJ would head back into the ring to hit an awe-inspiring springboard 450 Splash to Dean Ambrose through the table on the outside! Having taken “The Lunatic Fringe” out on the outside, AJ Styles would set up a ladder in the ring, ready to make the climb for the title. However, this is when the champion would spot James Ellsworth, sporting a neck brace thanks to AJ Styles, as Ellsworth makes his way to ringside. This would take AJ’s attention off of the task at hand as Styles turns his attention to James Ellsworth, looking to repeat what he did on SmackDown LIVE by hitting a Styles Clash on the floor. Luckily for James Ellsworth, Dean Ambrose would make the save before spiking AJ on the steel steps with Dirty Deeds! Ambrose then scrambles back into the ring, climbing the ladder as Styles is somehow able to pull himself into the ring and up the ladder. However, the challenger would knock Styles off of the ladder and to the outside and this is when it looked like there would be nothing standing in the way of Dean Ambrose regaining the WWE World Championship. This is when James Ellsworth would shock everyone by entering the ring and shoving Dean Ambrose off of the ladder to the outside as Ambrose is sent crashing through two tables to the floor! Ellsworth then cheers AJ Styles on as AJ slowly climbs the ladder, unhooking the WWE World Title as, with a major assist from James Ellsworth, AJ Styles survives the TLC Match as the WWE World Champion! As James Ellsworth backs up with a big smile on his face, AJ Styles sits atop the ladder having successfully retained the WWE World Championship in a destructive and shocking TLC Match.
