WWE Roadblock: End of the Line 2016 ResultsBy Cassidy| December 19, 2016 WWE PPVs Previous Page Detailed Results The final WWE pay-per-view of 2016 kicks off with gold on the line as, on their 483rd day as RAW Tag Team Champions, the longest reigning tag team champions of all-time, The New Day, would defend the titles at Roadblock: End of the Line as The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, would defend the RAW Tag Team Titles against Cesaro & Sheamus. During the match, Sheamus inadvertently takes Cesaro down in the ring and, as the referee struggles to maintain control, Xavier Woods gets involved behind the back of the referee, kicking Cesaro before Big E follows it up with the Big Ending, but Cesaro kicks out. Shortly after this, Cesaro has the Sharpshooter locked in on Kofi Kingston, but Xavier Woods again distracts the referee. Sheamus then chases Woods around the ring as Cesaro plants Kofi with the Neutralizer, but Big E is barely able to break up the pin in time. Sheamus then tags into the match as “The Celtic Warrior” sizes Kofi up for the Brogue Kick, but Xavier enters the ring, moving Kofi out of the way, sacrificing himself as Sheamus catches Woods with the Brogue Kick! Kofi then tries to take advantage with the S.O.S., but Sheamus is able to kick out. Sheamus then crawls for the tag to Cesaro and, while Kofi believes that the tag was made, that was not the case and Kingston hits Cesaro with Trouble in Paradise, trying for the pin. However, Sheamus was still the legal man in the match and “The Celtic Warrior” would take advantage of this fact, quickly diving on Kofi, securing the quick three-count to win the match as, after 483 days as RAW Tag Team Champions, The New Day were finally dethroned as Cesaro & Sheamus shock the world by becoming the first team to win the RAW Tag Team Titles in over a year! After the match, the humbled former champions would enter the ring and, in a show of respect, The New Day would hand the belts to Cesaro, who hugs the trio. However, Sheamus would not show the same respect as Sheamus snatches the tag belts to celebrate the title win on his own as Cesaro jumps into the crowd to celebrate with his “Cesaro Section”. In a match that Sami Zayn demanded for weeks on end, RAW General Manager Mick Foley would finally make the match happen as Roadblock: End of the Line would see “The Underdog from the Underground” Sami Zayn take on the unenviable task of going one-on-one with the unstoppable monster known as Braun Strowman and, per the orders of Mick Foley, Sami must last ten minutes in the ring with Strowman. With a little over three and a half minutes left in the match, Braun Strowman would continue to maul and dominate Sami Zayn and this is when RAW General Manager Mick Foley would come down to ringside with a white towel in his hand, seemingly ready to throw in the towel to save Sami Zayn. While Strowman tries to order the GM to throw in the towel for the good of Sami Zayn, Sami would take the towel from Foley, tossing it into the crowd! Braun then tells the GM that Foley has the chance to save Zayn but now he’s going to destroy Sami. Strowman then charges at Sami, but Zayn moves out of the way as Braun runs face-first into the ring post. With less than a minute left, Braun charges at Sami but Zayn moves again and Strowman crashes through the barricade! Braun then manages to beat the ten-count and, with seconds remaining, Sami would score with the Helluva Kick to Braun Strowman. This would stun Braun long enough to allow the time limit to expire as Sami Zayn wins the match by surviving 10 minutes against Braun Strowman. On his path to redemption that ultimately leads to getting his revenge against his former mentor Triple H, the first part of Seth Rollins’ plan would take place at Roadblock: End of the Line as Seth Rollins would go one-on-one with the man that has repeatedly cost him the WWE Universal Championship in recent months, Chris Jericho. During the back-and-forth match, Kevin Owens would come down to ringside, nearly costing Seth Rollins the match but when Jericho tries to roll Rollins up, Owens’ distraction would keep the referee from seeing the pinfall attempt. Jericho would then shout at the WWE Universal Champion and Owens would respond by walking to the back as, in the ring, Seth Rollins would block the attempt at a Codebreaker by Chris Jericho before hitting the Pedigree, pinning Jericho to pick up the win. The Cruiserweight Championship would then be on the line at Roadblock: End of the Line as “The Outlandish” Rich Swann would defend the Cruiserweight Title in a Triple Threat Match against two former champions, T.J. Perkins and The Brian Kendrick. During the match, Rich Swann and T.J. Perkins would catch The Brian Kendrick with a double super kick, taking Kendrick out of the ring before Rich Swann hits Perkins with the Swann Kick, pinning Perkins to win the Triple Threat Match and successfully retain the Cruiserweight Title. After the match, Rich Swann would be pleased at the return of a familiar face as “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville makes his return! Neville would make his way to the ring, but instead of embracing Rich Swann, Neville would pop the Cruiserweight Champion with a right hand! T.J. Perkins tries to make the save, but Neville dispatches Perkins as well with a series of kicks. On the outside, Neville tosses Rich Swann into the barricade before giving the same treatment to T.J. Perkins before rolling Perkins into the ring. Neville then rolls Rich Swann into the ring as well as Neville stands tall over Swann and Perkins, having returned with a vengeance. In the culmination of an incredible rivalry that has dominated 2016, the intense feud between Sasha Banks and Charlotte would reach the end of the line at Roadblock: End of the Line as, for only the second time in history, two women would compete in a 30-Minute Iron Man Match as Sasha Banks defends the RAW Women’s Championship against Charlotte with a 30 minute time limit and, in that 30 minutes, Sasha and Charlotte will score as many falls as they can by either pinfall, submission, disqualification, or count-out and, at the end of the 30 minutes, whoever has the most falls will be declared the winner and will leave Pittsburgh as the RAW Women’s Champion with no rematch clause in place no matter who wins. After going back-and-forth for over ten minutes, Sasha Banks would look to climb to the top rope, but Charlotte would kick the legs out from under the champion as Sasha’s face bounces off of the steel steps! Charlotte then rolls Sasha back into the ring, trying to score the first fall of the match, but Sasha kicks out. As the clock goes over the halfway point in the Iron Man Match, Charlotte continues to wear down the champion, but Sasha continues to kick out. Sasha then starts to mount a comeback before looking for a high cross body off of the top rope, but Charlotte moves out of the way before the challenger hits Sasha with Natural Selection, but the champion kicks out again! Charlotte then heads to the top rope and, despite Sasha trying to knock Charlotte off of her perch, Charlotte hits a modified version of Natural Selection from the top rope, pinning Sasha to score the first fall of the match with just over ten minutes left in the Iron Man Match! Sasha and Charlotte then go counter-for-counter with Sasha managing to trap the challenger, keeping Charlotte down for a three-count as Sasha evens the match up with one fall a piece! Charlotte then goes for the moonsault to Sasha Banks, but the champion moves out of the way before locking in the Bank Statement on Charlotte. Charlotte nearly gets to the bottom rope, but Sasha pulls the challenger back to the center of the ring and Charlotte has no choice but to tap out as Sasha gains the 2-1 advantage over Charlotte! Shortly after this, Charlotte targets the left knee of Sasha Banks, looking to weaken Sasha for the Figure-Eight as Charlotte stomps the knee of the champion before slamming the knee into the ring post. With three minutes left in the match, Sasha fights out of a knee submission by Charlotte, nearly scoring another fall over the challenger before Charlotte goes back to the leg of the champion, torqueing the knee of Sasha Banks. With two minutes remaining, Charlotte locks in the Figure-Four Leg Lock on Sasha Banks with Sasha doing everything in her power to try and escape the submission from slapping Charlotte to reaching for the ropes, but as the timer reaches zero, Sasha taps out as Charlotte scores the fall, tying the Iron Man Match at 2 falls a piece! With the 30-minute time limit up with a tie between Sasha and Charlotte, the referee would make the decision to have the match continue under sudden death overtime, meaning that the first competitor to score a fall will win the match! The referee would then make sure that Sasha Banks was able to continue before ringing the bell to start the overtime part of the match. Sasha would twice come close to securing the pinfall, but Charlotte manages to kick out. Sasha then manages to hit the Back Stabber before locking in the Bank Statement. Charlotte then uses the injured leg of Sasha to break the Bank Statement before locking in the Figure-Four Leg Lock and, with blood flowing from her mouth, Sasha would claw for the bottom rope but Charlotte pulls Sasha back to the middle of the ring before bridging into the Figure-Eight. This is when Sasha could not take the pain anymore as “The Boss” has no choice but to tap out as, in sudden death overtime, Charlotte wins the Iron Man Match to win her fourth RAW Women’s Title. After the match, medical personnel tend to Sasha Banks, helping the former champion to the back as Charlotte celebrates her title win as “The Queen” ends 2016 the way she started it, as the champion. Then it was time for the final main event of the final WWE pay-per-view of 2016 as United States Champion Roman Reigns would look to make history as Roman Reigns challenges Kevin Owens for the WWE Universal Championship. Early on in the match, the fight would spill to the outside of the ring where Roman Reigns exposes two of the announce tables at ringside before Kevin Owens brings Reigns back into the ring. Later on in the match, Roman Reigns would go for the Superman Punch, but Kevin Owens ducks the Superman Punch, planting Reigns with a DDT. Owens then connects with the Cannonball in the corner only for the United States Champion to pop up and catch Owens with the Superman Punch, but the defending champion is able to kick out. Shortly after this, Kevin Owens would find himself on the top rope and this is when Roman catches Owens with a second Superman Punch. However, the champion manages to fight back, hitting a huge package side slam off of the top rope! Kevin Owens then climbs back up to the top rope, looking for a swanton bomb to Roman Reigns, but Roman gets his knees up. Reigns then sizes Owens up for the Spear, but the champion rolls out of the ring. Roman then hits the Drive-By dropkick on the outside, but when Reigns goes for a second Drive-By, Owens moves out of the way before hitting the United States Champion with a super kick. Then, with Reigns lying prone on an announce table at ringside, Owens would dive off of the barricade with a frog splash to Reigns, but the table would not break so the champion would climb onto the barricade, leaping off with a second frog splash that sends Reigns crashing through the table! Roman then somehow manages to beat the ten-count back into the ring and Owens is quick to score with a third frog splash to the United States Champion, but Reigns kicks out! Owens then hits the Pop-Up Powerbomb on Roman Reigns, but Reigns is able to get his foot on the bottom rope at the last second, keeping the match alive. Kevin Owens then exits the ring, grabbing the WWE Universal Title belt and bringing into the ring, but just as Owens is about to use the title belt, Roman Reigns catches Owens with the Spear! However, with both men down, Chris Jericho would make his way down to the ring and, with a decision on his hands, Chris Jericho hits Kevin Owens with the Codebreaker, ending the match by disqualification! After the match, Chris Jericho grabs the WWE Universal Title belt and, just when it appears as though Jericho is interested in taking the title from Owens, Jericho hands the title belt over to Kevin Owens! Owens and Jericho then hug it out as it becomes apparent that the dissolution of their friendship over the last few weeks was a complete ruse! The best friends are then quick to leave the ring once they see a seething Roman Reigns heading their way, but as Owens and Jericho try to leave up the entrance ramp, they are halted by the arrival of Seth Rollins! With no exit for Owens and Jericho, they back up to ringside where Roman Reigns is waiting as the United States Champion levels Kevin Owens with the Spear on the outside! Seth Rollins then catches Jericho in the ring, planting Jericho with the Pedigree. However, the former Shield teammates were not done with Chris Jericho as Reigns and Rollins expose the remaining announce table, delivering a Shield powerbomb to Jericho through the table! Having taken care of Chris Jericho, Reigns & Rollins would spot Kevin Owens trying to leave and they are quick to stop the WWE Universal Champion from escaping. Reigns & Rollins then expose the RAW announce table positioned by the stage before sending Kevin Owens crashing through it with another Shield powerbomb! Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns then stand tall over the broken table and the broken WWE Universal Champion, having made it completely clear that the former Shield teammates have had enough of the best friends.
