WWE RAW Results: December 19, 2016By Cassidy| December 20, 2016 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results One night after they were both put through tables by Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns at Roadblock: End of the Line, the last RAW before Christmas kicks off with WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. The champion says that there is nothing that he will not do in order to keep the WWE Universal Title, even if that means taking a Codebreaker from Chris Jericho. Owens then reveals that he knew nothing about Jericho’s plan at Roadblock: End of the Line before Jericho says that it hurt him more than it hurt Owens to hit him with the Codebreaker but he had to make everyone “believe”. Jericho then says that he is going to give Owens the “hug of Jericho” as the best friends embrace. Jericho then addresses Santa Claus, accusing Santa of stealing his “gimmick” of making lists before putting Santa on the List of Jericho! This brings out RAW General Manager and a huge fan of Christmas, Mick Foley, who says that Jericho has been very “naughty” as of late. The GM then reminds Owens and Jericho what happened to them at Roadblock: End of the Line when they went through tables. Owens then says that he’s a “national treasure” before Jericho makes fun of Foley’s unique attire. Foley then shows off his unique Christmas shirt before announcing a tag team match for later tonight pitting Owens and Jericho against the team of Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns. The GM then says that Chris Jericho has helped Kevin Owens retain the WWE Universal Title on multiple occasions and that will come to an end at the Royal Rumble next month, saying that Santa has brought a special gift all the way from the “North Pole”. Foley then points to the ceiling and this is when a shark cage begins to lower from the ceiling into the ring. The GM then announces that, at the Royal Rumble, Kevin Owens will defend the WWE Universal Title against Roman Reigns in a rematch from Roadblock: End of the Line, but, this time, Chris Jericho will be locked in the shark cage which will be hanging high above the ring during the match! Appalled, Jericho says that he’s the “greatest of all-time” and not some sort of “animal”, saying that Foley can’t make him get in the shark cage. Foley says that he cannot make Jericho get in the shark cage, but he can make sure that Jericho never sets foot in a WWE ring again! Owens & Jericho call the construction of the cage “shoddy” before, in the process of testing the strength, Jericho finds himself inside the shark cage. Foley then locks the door with Jericho inside the shark cage as Foley rummages through his fanny pack to try and find the key! Foley pulls out an iPhone, a Dude Love wallet, and a New Day t-shirt, and a very old skeleton key. When it becomes obvious that the skeleton key would not fit the padlock, the GM continues to rummage through the fanny pack, showing off his Santa Claus inspector badge and finding his false teeth. Foley then reveals that the bad news is that he’s misplaced the key, but the good news is that the shark cage won’t raise up until he gives the signal. However, the GM inadvertently gives the signal and Jericho rises high above the ring, screaming for someone to help him with Foley saying that they will look for the key to get Jericho out of the shark cage, but until then, “have a nice day!” Backstage, medical personnel tend to Chris Jericho as Kevin Owens tries to get Jericho ready for their tag team match later on before the WWE Universal Champion calls the medical personnel back to put the gasping Jericho back on oxygen. After Rusev attacked Enzo Amore on the outside on the Roadblock: End of the Line Kickoff in order to get the count-out victory over Big Cass, the rematch would take place on RAW as Big Cass, with Enzo Amore in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, with Lana in his corner. It would quickly become apparent that Big Cass as fed up with Rusev as the big man would relentlessly hammer “The Bulgarian Brute” to the point of the referee having to disqualify Big Cass! Rusev then manages to catch Big Cass with a kick to the knee, allowing Rusev to stumble through the crowd, escaping the wrath of Big Cass. Following a hard-fought 30-Minute Iron Man Match for the RAW Women’s Championship against Charlotte at Roadblock: End of the Line that went into sudden death overtime with Charlotte ultimately winning to become the new RAW Women’s Champion, the former champion would make an appearance on RAW as “The Boss” Sasha Banks would make her way to the ring on a crutch with a heavy knee brace, clearly in a lot of pain following the grueling Iron Man Match. Sasha says that she “laid it all on the line” at Roadblock: End of the Line, saying that having to tap out to Charlotte twice not only almost broke her leg, it broke her “heart”. The former champion continues, saying that her and Charlotte have “made history” in their rivalry and, last night, she walked out of Roadblock: End of the Line without her RAW Women’s Championship. Sasha then admits that the “better woman won” before stating that she doesn’t feel like “The Boss” anymore. Sasha then asks for Charlotte to come out to the ring so she can congratulate the new RAW Women’s Champion. However, Sasha does not get Charlotte as the destructive and dominant Nia Jax makes her way to the ring instead. Nia Jax says that Sasha Banks can be a “boss” to the fans but she will never be “The Boss” to her, saying that Sasha is “weak” and “wounded” and, above all else, Sasha is just a “little girl”. Nia then kicks Sasha’s crutch away, knocking the former champion down before hurling Sasha into the ropes as Sasha’s injured knee connects with the bottom rope. Backstage, Mick Foley congratulates new RAW Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus before revealing an early Christmas present for the new champions, giving Cesaro & Sheamus brand new RAW Tag Team Title belts! However, Sheamus takes both title belts for himself, letting Cesaro hold the old belts and, as the RAW Tag Team Champions bicker, a referee enters the office in a panic. The referee calls Foley’s attention to a situation in the hallway as Braun Strowman is wrecking the backstage area in search of Sami Zayn. Keeping his distance, Mick Foley asks for an explanation from Strowman and Braun explains that Sami Zayn only survived ten minutes with him at Roadblock: End of the Line because he “let him”. Braun then says that he is through playing around and he wants Sami Zayn tonight but the GM informs Strowman that he sent Sami home a couple of hours ago. The GM then begs Strowman to take the night off, but Braun refuses, saying that he wanted Sami “or else” and, now, he is going to give Foley “or else”. In Cruiserweight action, Cedric Alexander, with Alicia Fox in his corner, would go one-on-one with Noam Dar. In the end, it was Cedric Alexander hitting Noam Dar with the Lumbar Check, pinning Dar for the win. Despite the loss, Noam Dar would say that they are not even because Cedric Alexander still has what he wants and that’s Alicia Fox! For the first time since August 17, 2015, The New Day would appear on RAW without the tag team titles after losing the titles to Cesaro & Sheamus at Roadblock: End of the Line. Xavier Woods says that, after a historic 483 day reign as RAW Tag Team Champions, they have hit a “roadblock”. Kofi Kingston then says that Ric Flair didn’t become a 16-time World Champion without losing the title fifteen times. Big E then comments that will be Charlotte in a month before saying that they can’t become three-time tag team champions without having to lose the titles a couple of times. Xavier then says that, as long as they keep looking as good as they do, it won’t be long until they are once again the RAW Tag Team Champions. As The New Day enters the ring, the new RAW Tag Team Champions come out to the stage with the brand new RAW Tag Team Title belts as Cesaro & Sheamus address The New Day. After Cesaro stops Sheamus from impersonating The New Day, Sheamus says that he is full of positivity because today is truly a “new day” because today is “day one” of the reign of the new tag team champion Sheamus. This leads to Cesaro and Sheamus arguing over which one of them is the tag champions before Kofi Kingston expresses his disappointment, saying that, after one day as champions, Cesaro & Sheamus already got new title belts. Kofi then says that they knew that, some day, someone would take the tag team titles from them before saying that they were glad it was Cesaro. Cesaro comments that he needs to be strong to team with someone like Sheamus and his “massive ego”. Sheamus says that he doesn’t care what Cesaro or the fans think, saying that it was because of him that they become the RAW Tag Team Champions. Sheamus then says that, for 483 days, The New Day was “disgracing” the tag team titles, proclaiming that, if The New Day can hold the titles for 483 days, then he can hold the tag titles for “twenty years”! The New Day then run down all of the contributions they made during their time as the RAW Tag Team Champions before Big E says that Cesaro & Sheamus will never touch their record because “New Day rocks”. This brings out Gallows & Anderson, saying that they see a bunch of “nerds” when they look in the ring. Luke Gallows then says that, if it wasn’t for them beating The New Day up on a regular basis, Cesaro & Sheamus never would have won the RAW Tag Team Titles. The Shining Stars then make their way to the ring as Primo says that they should all enjoy a holiday at The Shining Stars Resort in Puerto Rico, handing brochures to the RAW Tag Team Champions. However, Cesaro tears up the brochures and this sparks a brawl between the four teams with Cesaro & Sheamus and The New Day getting the better of Gallows & Anderson and The Shining Stars. In an impromptu 8-Man Tag Match, new RAW Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Sheamus would team up with The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, to face Gallows & Anderson and The Shining Stars. At the end of a chaotic match, it came down to Cesaro and Epico as Cesaro sends Epico for the ride with the Cesaro Swing, transitioning into the Sharpshooter, making Epico tap out to pick up the win for Cesaro & Sheamus and The New Day. After re-emerging at Roadblock: End of the Line with a new attitude and a new agenda, attacking Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann as well as T.J. Perkins, an angry Neville would make an appearance on RAW. Neville says that he “destroyed” Rich Swann and T.J. Perkins and the fans cheered him, saying that it’s been a while since they cheered for him. Neville then says that they usually cheer for him when they “feel sorry” for him, but he doesn’t need their “pity” so they can take their cheers and “stick them”. Neville then declares that he is going to “obliterate” the Cruiserweight Division! This brings out Cruiserweight Champion Rich Swann, asking what happened to the man he used to look up to. Neville tells Swann to show some “respect”, saying that it was him who took Swann under his wing in Japan and he taught Rich everything he knows. Neville then asks where the “respect” is at for the “true King of the Cruiserweights”. The champion says that Neville can call himself whatever he wants but as long as he has the Cruiserweight Title, he is the absolute “best” the Cruiserweight Division has to offer. The Brian Kendrick then comes out, claiming that he kept asking where Neville was when they were starting up the Cruiserweight Division. Kendrick then says that he and Neville are a lot alike, saying that, without them, none of this would be possible, saying that he and Neville “respect each other”. Neville agrees with The Brian Kendrick, saying that Kendrick “earned” his opportunities in WWE unlike Rich Swann, telling the Cruiserweight Champion that he needs to be taught his “place”. Neville and Kendrick then surround Rich Swann before attacking the champion with Neville even throwing Kendrick to the side so he can administer the assault himself. T.J. Perkins then rushes out to try and make the save but Neville is quick to neutralize Perkins with a kick to the head, continuing to pummel both Swann and Perkins as Kendrick applauds. Once Neville leaves the ring, The Brian Kendrick decides to pick the bones of what’s left, hitting Perkins with Sliced Bread #2. RAW would then see Sin Cara go one-on-one with Titus O’Neil but the match is quickly interrupted by the arrival of an angry Braun Strowman. Braun makes a beeline for the ring, taking down both Sin Cara and Titus O’Neil. On the outside, Strowman picks Titus up, flattening Titus with a powerslam on the floor before slamming Sin Cara on the floor and leveling the masked man with a huge clothesline. Referees then rush to the aid of Sin Cara but Braun Strowman picks Sin Cara up, carrying Sin Cara up the stage. This is when Mick Foley comes out to try and stop Braun Strowman. However, Strowman pays no mind to the RAW General Manager as the powerhouse hurls Sin Cara off of the stage right into a Christmas tree and several presents set up by the stage! Braun then continues to wreck the festive stage decorations before finally storming to the back. Referees then tend to Sin Cara, calling for a stretcher as Mick Foley looks on with regret. After beating Sasha Banks in sudden death overtime to win the RAW Women’s Championship in a 30-Minute Iron Man Match at Roadblock: End of the Line, new RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair would make an appearance on RAW. Charlotte states that she has solidified herself as the “biggest Superstar in WWE history”, saying that she is better than Trish Stratus or The Fabulous Moolah ever was, declaring herself the “Queen of pay-per-view”. This brings Bayley out to confront the new champion, saying that she is out there to congratulate Charlotte. Bayley then says that the rivalry between Charlotte and Sasha will go down as the “greatest women’s rivalry of all-time”. Charlotte says that Bayley belongs in the crowd, not in the ring before saying that, now that the rivalry between Charlotte and Sasha is over, it’s time for the rivalry between Bayley and Charlotte. Bayley then brings up her two victories over the champion before saying that she hasn’t forgotten about Charlotte attacking her at Survivor Series. Charlotte claims that the victories “don’t count” before saying that she’s always been “number one” in The Four Horsewomen while Bayley has always been “number four”. Charlotte then says that the reason that Bayley never joined her, Sasha, and Becky Lynch because she has “never been good enough”. Bayley responds by saying that, if she’s “not good enough”, then why doesn’t she prove it right now? Charlotte responds by saying that, since Bayley is dressed like a “fifth grader”, then they should “go to school”, asking for a referee to come to the ring. In an impromptu non-title match, Bayley would go one-on-one with new RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair. During the match, Charlotte would head to the top rope, hitting Bayley with a moonsault, but Bayley kicks out. Charlotte then decides to trash talk Bayley and Bayley would make the champion pay for it as Bayley traps Charlotte with a backslide, pinning the RAW Women’s Champion to beat Charlotte Flair for a third time! Following a failed night of sensitivity training, Enzo Amore tried to hit on the sensitivity trainer before Enzo is confronted by Rusev and fellow sensitivity training attendee Jinder Mahal. Rusev and Jinder then beat Enzo down, tossing Amore around the room before Rusev holds Enzo in place for his wife Lana to slap Enzo across the face! Lana then orders Rusev to “crush” and Rusev does just that as “The Bulgarian Brute” slams Enzo through a table! Then it was time for the main event as, after putting Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho through tables out of frustration at Roadblock: End of the Line, United States Champion Roman Reigns would team with Seth Rollins to face WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. During the match, Roman Reigns would catch Chris Jericho with the Superman Punch, providing an opening for Seth Rollins to try and make the tag. However, as Rollins crawls to make the tag to Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman would make his way down to the ring, pulling Reigns off of the ring apron and tossing Roman to the floor, ending the match by disqualification! This leaves Seth Rollins at the mercy of Kevin Owens & Chris Jericho as the best friends stomp away at Rollins. However, Braun Strowman then enters the ring and Owens & Jericho are quick to get out of the ring and out of Braun’s way. Strowman then sets his sights on Seth Rollins, clubbing the chest of Rollins before lifting Seth up and flattening Rollins with a running powerslam. On the outside, Owens & Jericho send Roman Reigns into the ring as Strowman picks Roman up, planting the United States Champion with a running powerslam as well! Braun then stands tall, seething and glaring at Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho as the best friends applaud Strowman’s destruction. What did you think of this week’s RAW?
