WWE SmackDown Live Results: September 20, 2016By Cassidy| September 21, 2016 WWE SmackDown Rematch Ready. The 892nd edition of WWE SmackDown Live came to you, live, from the BJCC in Birmingham, AL. Last week on SmackDown Live, new WWE World Champion AJ Styles was confronted by a familiar rival in John Cena, who appeared on SmackDown Live for the first time since losing to AJ Styles at SummerSlam. The fifteen-time former World Champion made it clear that he wants to take the WWE World Championship from “The Phenomenal One” and make history by tying “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair as a sixteen-time World Champion. However, the man who lost the title under dubious circumstances at Backlash, Dean Ambrose, had his sights set on regaining the WWE World Championship. This would lead to a Triple Threat Match being made for No Mercy as AJ Styles will defend the WWE World Title against both John Cena and Dean Ambrose! Later that same night, Cena and Ambrose would team up to take on AJ Styles and Intercontinental Champion The Miz and, while Cena and Ambrose would ultimately get the victory, it was after the match that “The Lunatic Fringe” would make a lasting statement by spiking Cena with Dirty Deeds in the middle of the ring! Now, on this week’s SmackDown Live, the two challengers for the WWE World Championship at No Mercy would go one-on-one as John Cena squares off with Dean Ambrose.
