WWE RAW Results: August 29, 2016By Cassidy| August 30, 2016 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results Before they square off in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match for the WWE Universal Championship later in the night, RAW kicks off with Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Big Cass, & Roman Reigns all seated in the ring with the WWE Universal Title prominently on display in the center of the ring. Also in the ring was RAW commentator Corey Graves, who welcomes everyone to RAW before explaining what is on the line tonight. However, Seth Rollins is quick to interrupt as Rollins states that the reason that they are all out there right now is because of him, reminding everyone that he is the one responsible for injuring Finn Balor and forcing Balor to relinquish the WWE Universal Championship last week. Rollins continues, saying that he is the “favorite” to win the WWE Universal Title tonight and he is the “most decorated Superstar” of his generation. Rollins then says that he wants to donate his speaking time to someone who “needs” to prove something to the fans before selecting Kevin Owens to give his time to. Putting on his best nice guy impersonation, Kevin Owens says that it’s such an “honor” to be in the ring with competitors as good as those around him. Corey then says that he wants their thoughts on the match tonight and Owens responds by saying that the thought Corey wanted them to be nice to each other since they’re all seated out there like they’re in a “group therapy session”. Kevin Owens then says that, with Sami Zayn out of the picture, he can focus on what matters and that is the WWE Universal Championship. Owens continues, saying that Rollins “talks big”, but he “delivers big”. Owens then addresses Roman Reigns, saying that Roman “fights hard” while he “fights smart” before saying that Big Cass is “just really tall”. Owens then says that he thought Big Cass had a string on his back that Enzo Amore had to pull whenever he wanted Big Cass to speak. Cass mock laughs at Owens before asking if Owens came up with that himself or if he had Chris Jericho help him. Big Cass then says that he knows where he stands, saying that he’s never won a championship, but that means that he’s got “nothing to lose” and nobody is expecting him to win. The seven-footer then takes a shot at Roman Reigns by saying that he’s the “biggest dog in this fight” before telling Rollins that, despite what Seth has been telling himself the past few years, “size does matter”! Seth Rollins responds by taking his speaking time back, saying that he is glad that the title match is under elimination rules because it will give him a chance to shove Big Cass’ words down his “seven-foot throat”. Rollins then says that he’s going to send Kevin Owens back to his “scarf-wearing, J-bro” Chris Jericho before saying that there are a few things in life that are certain and that is “death, taxes, and Seth Rollins beats Roman Reigns every single time”. Rollins then tells Corey Graves to ask Roman Reigns for a comment on tonight’s match and Corey does just that. Roman answers by standing up and popping Kevin Owens with a right hand and Seth Rollins attacks Big Cass before Roman tosses Rollins into the corner. This leads to a face-off between Reigns and Big Cass before Rollins breaks it up and Roman tosses Big Cass to the outside before blasting Rollins with the Superman Punch. Rollins then rolls out of the ring as Roman Reigns is the only one left standing in the ring as Reigns admires the WWE Universal Title. After Chris Jericho tried to cost Neville his shot at competing for the WWE Universal Championship last week, Neville would be looking for revenge on RAW as “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville would go one-on-one with six-time former World Champion Chris Jericho. In the end, it was Neville going for the Red Arrow, but Chris Jericho would move out of the way at the last second before Jericho appears to lock in the Walls of Jericho before transitioning into the more punishing Liontamer, making Neville tap out to pick up the win. The dominant Nia Jax was in action on RAW as the powerhouse would go one-on-one with a local competitor by the name of Hion. It was another flawless victory for Nia Jax as Nia hits a modified powerslam on the local competitor, pinning Hion for the win. After coming up short against Seth Rollins last week in a match that saw him struggle with an injured ankle, Sami Zayn would be looking to rebound on RAW as Sami would go one-on-one with Jinder Mahal. In the end, it was Sami Zayn scoring with the Helluva Kick to Jinder Mahal, pinning Jinder to pick up the win. With RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte a guest on commentary, the woman that she beat for the title at SummerSlam, Sasha Banks, had done an interview on the RAW Pre-Show to update everyone on her back injury. Sasha says that she didn’t think that Charlotte would go as low as to try and end her career at SummerSlam, saying that Charlotte did just that and her back just gave out on her, saying that she is going to come back “better than ever”. RAW would then be host to a 6-Person Mixed Tag Match as RAW’s newest acquisition Bayley would team with RAW Tag Team Champions Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, would face the team of Charlotte’s protégé Dana Brooke and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson. In the end, it was Bayley scoring with the Bayley-to-Belly to Dana Brooke, pinning Dana to pick up the win for herself and The New Day. After Sheamus scored the first victory in the Best of Seven Series against Cesaro on the SummerSlam Kickoff show, the second match in the Best of Seven Series would take place on RAW as “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro would go one-on-one with “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus. During the match, Cesaro would charge at Sheamus on the outside, but Sheamus would lift Cesaro up with a back body drop as Cesaro lands awkwardly on the ring apron, appearing to injure his lower back. “The Celtic Warrior” was quick to take advantage, bringing Cesaro back into the ring and locking in the Cloverleaf, leaving Cesaro no choice but to tap out immediately as Sheamus picks up the win, going 2-0 in the Best of Seven Series. The scary mountain of a man known as Braun Strowman would have another unfortunate victim on RAW as Strowman would face local competitor Americo. In the end, it was another dominant victory for Braun Strowman as Strowman would plant Americo with his one-handed slam, pinning his much smaller opponent for the win. However, after the match, Braun Strowman would take things too far with his disrespect of Americo as the monstrous man would remove the mask of the luchador and hold it high above his head before throwing the mask down. After her brother and SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon was attacked with an F-5 by Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon would be on RAW as she would call out Brock’s advocate Paul Heyman so that Heyman could explain the actions of his client. Before bringing Paul Heyman out, Stephanie says that they need to address the actions of Brock Lesnar before saying that “nobody messes” with her family. However, the RAW Commissioner is then interrupted by Paul Heyman as Brock Lesnar’s advocate makes his way down to the ring as Stephanie orders Heyman to “apologize”. Now in the ring, Heyman says that, when Brock defeated Randy Orton at SummerSlam, it meant that “RAW won SummerSlam”. The advocate then says that Lesnar “crossed a line” when he attacked Shane McMahon and he is there to pay Brock’s fine of $500, which “The Beast” received for his attack on Shane. Heyman then pulls out a thick stack of cash, beginning to count off the payment one dollar at a time. An impatient Stephanie then slaps the money out of Heyman’s hands before saying that Brock Lesnar provides “value” for RAW before asking Heyman what “value” he provides. The RAW Commissioner then tells Heyman to look in his children’s eyes when he is unable to support them because he decided to “patronize” Stephanie McMahon by trying to offer one dollar bills. Stephanie continues, saying that there are no lengths she won’t go to in order to “avenge” her brother, saying that a “storm” is coming and it’s coming for Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar. Paul Heyman argues that his client, Brock Lesnar, is the “storm” and there is an apology that needs to be delivered and he is there tonight to apologize to Stephanie McMahon. Heyman then says that he and Brock Lesnar understand that they put Stephanie in a “compromising position” with the WWE Board of Directors and with her father, Vince McMahon. Heyman then says that he hopes that Stephanie takes this as a “fine paid” and as an “apology most sincerely delivered”. Stephanie briefly thinks over the apology before telling Heyman “apology accepted” before the RAW Commissioner leaves the ring, leaving Heyman with a look of relief on his face. After attacking both Darren Young and Darren’s mentor Bob Backlund last week, Titus O’Neil would go one-on-one with Darren Young, with Bob Backlund in his corner, on RAW. At the end of a match that was mostly dominated by Titus O’Neil, Darren Young would show his resiliency by surprising Titus with a crucifix roll-up, pinning Titus for the win. After the match, Darren would toss Titus out of the ring before celebrating with Bob Backlund, but Titus would come back into the ring, kicking Backlund in the mid-section before planting Darren with the Clash of the Titus. With RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and RAW General Manager Mick Foley at ringside with Foley holding onto the vacated WWE Universal Title, it was time for the huge main event as two-time former WWE World Champion Seth Rollins, two-time former Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens, seven-foot upstart Big Cass, and three-time former WWE World Champion Roman Reigns would square off in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match where the last Superstar remaining in the match will be declared the winner and the brand new WWE Universal Champion! During the match, Big Cass and Roman Reigns would find themselves face-to-face in the ring as the two big men exchange shots with Big Cass delivering a huge big boot that sends both Cass and Reigns to the outside. Seth Rollins then dives to the outside to take out Cass and Reigns before Kevin Owens takes out Rollins and Roman dives to the outside to take out Owens and Big Cass. Shortly after this, Kevin Owens and Big Cass would square off in the ring with Owens getting the better of the seven-footer before Seth Rollins pulls Owens out of the ring, sending Owens into the barricade. Rollins then tries his hand at taking Big Cass out in the ring, but Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens would make their way back in the ring with Reigns taking out both Rollins and Owens before Roman gets blasted with a big boot from Big Cass! Cass then squashes both Rollins and Owens in the corner before taking Owens out with a big boot that sends Owens to the floor. Cass then scores with the Empire Elbow to Rollins, but when Big Cass picks Rollins up, Roman Reigns catches Cass with the Superman Punch before Rollins sends Roman shoulder-first into the ring post. Rollins then delivers a kick to the face of Big Cass, but Cass is able to kick out before Kevin Owens comes off of the top rope with a frog splash to Big Cass, pinning Cass to eliminate the seven-footer from the title match. With Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, & Roman Reigns remaining in the match, Roman would take over the match, isolating Seth Rollins, but when Reigns goes for the Superman Punch, Rollins would counter, sending Roman to the outside. However, when Rollins goes for a dive, Roman catches Rollins with a right hand and, back in the ring, Rollins scores with the falcon arrow, but Reigns kicks out. Rollins then goes for his springboard knee, but Reigns is able to catch Rollins in mid-air with the Superman Punch! Roman then sizes Rollins up for the Spear, but Rollins counters with a kick to Roman’s head. Kevin Owens then comes back into the ring, hitting Rollins with a super kick and, with both Reigns and Rollins in opposite corners, Owens would deliver the Cannonball to both men, but when Owens goes for another Cannonball to Reigns, Roman pops up and drops Owens with the Superman Punch, but Owens kicks out! Roman Reigns then goes for the Spear again, but Owens counters before looking for the Pop-Up Powerbomb with Reigns countering with another Superman Punch with Owens rolling to the outside. Roman then again avoids the Pedigree from Seth Rollins before hitting Rollins with a sitout powerbomb, but Rollins kicks out. Roman then hits the Drive-By on Rollins before Reigns catches Owens with another Superman Punch on the outside before Reigns charges at Rollins, leveling Rollins with the Spear! However, just as Roman was picking Rollins up to put Seth back into the ring, Reigns is blindsided out of nowhere by none other than Triple H! Making his first appearance on RAW since losing the WWE World Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, Triple H would take full advantage of the rules of the Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match by planting Roman with the Pedigree on the arena floor! With everyone still in shock by the re-emergence of Triple H, “The Game” would put Roman Reigns back into the ring before Triple H helps Seth Rollins to his feet, instructing Rollins to get in the ring and pin Roman. Triple H then helps Rollins into the ring and Rollins does what he was told by pinning Roman Reigns, elimination Reigns from the title match, leaving it down to Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens with the WWE Universal Championship on the line! Triple H was not done there, however, as “The Game” would make his intentions clear by pulling Roman Reigns out of the ring before making his way over to Kevin Owens and rolling Owens back into the ring! Triple H then gets in the ring as it appears that Triple H and Seth Rollins would re-live their days in The Authority, but that is when Triple H would shock the world by turning around and planting Seth Rollins with the Pedigree! Triple H then stands by as a shocked Kevin Owens scrambles to make the pinfall, securing the three-count to become the brand new WWE Universal Champion! As the new champion sits in disbelief in the ring, Triple H snatches the WWE Universal Title belt away from Mick Foley and brings it into the ring, offering a hand to help Kevin Owens to his feet before handing the title to Owens! Owens then stares in shock at the WWE Universal Championship before Triple H raises the hand of the new champion. Triple H and Kevin Owens then share an embrace in the ring before Triple H exits the ring, glaring at Mick Foley and briefly looking at his wife, Stephanie McMahon, before exiting through the crowd as the RAW General Manager and the RAW Commissioner are left in just as much shock and confusion as everyone else! Having recovered from the shock of what just happened, new WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens celebrates in the ring with the championship as the crowd chants “you deserve it” in support of the new face of RAW.
