WWE RAW Results: August 1, 2016By Cassidy| August 2, 2016 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results After a monumental night on RAW last week where she made the most of her one-on-one match with Charlotte for the Women’s Championship by making Charlotte tap out to the Bank Statement to become the brand new Women’s Champion, RAW kicks off with new Women’s Champion Sasha Banks. The champion states that it’s about time that RAW “popped off with a statement” in the form of a Bank Statement. Sasha then says that, last year during SummerSlam weekend, her and Bayley stole the show at NXT TakeOver and this year will be no different when she defends the Women’s Title against Charlotte at SummerSlam. However, the new champion is interrupted by the former champion as Charlotte makes her way to the ring to confront “The Boss”. Sasha comments that Charlotte looks a “little different”, reminding the former champion that she made Charlotte tap out last week. Sasha then asks where Charlotte’s protégé Dana Brooke is at with Charlotte responding by saying that she doesn’t need Dana Brooke and she doesn’t need her father Ric Flair to beat Sasha Banks. Charlotte continues, saying that she was the best in the division for over 300 days while Sasha is just a “one night stand”. The champion fires back by saying that Charlotte’s father is Ric Flair and, if it wasn’t for a “one night stand”, Charlotte probably wouldn’t be here right now! Unexpectedly, this brings out Chris Jericho, who makes his way to the ring, calling Sasha a “disrespectful, little punk”. Jericho then calls Charlotte “royalty”, saying that the second-generation Superstar looks like a “princess” before claiming that Charlotte has done more in her few years in WWE than Ric Flair has done in his entire career. Jericho continues, saying that, as far as he’s concerned, Sasha is a “brat”. This brings out Enzo Amore, who does his trademark introduction on the way to the ring. Enzo first kisses the hand of the Women’s Champion before saying that he’s a “G” and Sasha is more like a “b-a-w-c-e”. Enzo then suggests that Sasha Banks makes a “certified G deposit” and Jericho responds by calling Enzo a “hip hop hobbit” and telling Enzo that he better “watch it”. RAW General Manager Mick Foley then interrupts to bring an end to the bickering, saying that he’s a “certified GM”. Foley says that it’s a “new era” and, tonight, they are going to have their first Mixed Tag Match of the new era before announcing that Women’s Champion Sasha Banks will team with Enzo Amore to face the team of Charlotte and Chris Jericho right now! In the first Mixed Tag Match in quite some time on RAW, new Women’s Champion Sasha Banks would team with Enzo Amore to face the former champion Charlotte and Chris Jericho with Kevin Owens a guest on commentary. During the match, Sasha Banks would look for the Bank Statement on Charlotte before Dana Brooke would rush down to the ring. While the Women’s Champion would knock Dana off of the ring apron, Sasha would spot Chris Jericho entering the ring and “The Boss” would slap Jericho, but the distraction would give Charlotte the opening she needed as the former champion would hit Natural Selection on Sasha, pinning the new Women’s Champion to pick up the win for herself and Jericho. After the match, Chris Jericho would surprise Enzo Amore with the Codebreaker and this would bring out Big Cass as Jericho narrowly escapes the ring, avoiding the wrath of Big Cass for the time being. Local competitor Evan Anderholm would have a tall task ahead him on RAW as Anderholm would be put up against the unstoppable wall of power known as Braun Strowman. It was another dominant performance by Braun Strowman as the powerhouse would toss Evan Anderholm around the ring before planting the local competitor with a reverse chokeslam, pinning Anderholm for the win. Backstage, Mark Henry enters the office of RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and RAW General Manager Mick Foley, saying that he has made some “renovations” to the Hall of Pain and he is ready to “re-open”. Stephanie responds by saying that they drafted Henry to RAW because they saw him in more of a “mentor” role to help out the younger Superstars. Henry disagrees, saying that he’s a former World Champion and he’s still got a lot left in him and all he needs is “one more run”. Foley agrees with “The World’s Strongest Man”, putting Mark Henry in a match against Rusev for the United States Championship tonight! A fired-up Mark Henry says that he is going to bring the United States Title back to America because “that’s what I do”. In tag team action, The Golden Truth would face The Shining Stars on RAW. However, R-Truth’s obsession with Pokémon GO would result in Truth not being on the apron for a tag from Goldust and The Shining Stars would take advantage with Primo rolling up Goldust for the win. After blazing a trail through RAW in his first night on Monday nights last week where he went through a Fatal 4-Way Match and a one-on-one match with Roman Reigns to earn himself a one-on-one match with Seth Rollins at SummerSlam to decide the first ever WWE Universal Champion, Finn Balor would be on RAW for a special in-ring interview with Michael Cole. Cole comments that Finn Balor has had a wild couple of weeks after being drafted to RAW from NXT. Finn says that he knew that, when he was drafted to RAW, he had to come to RAW and “make an impact”. However, before Balor can continue, he is interrupted by his SummerSlam opponent as Seth Rollins makes his way to the ring. After sending Michael Cole back to his announce position, Seth Rollins says that Finn Balor is a former NXT Champion before adding that he was the very first NXT Champion. Rollins then says that Balor was a first round pick in the WWE Draft before commenting that he was the first overall pick in the WWE Draft. Rollins continues, saying that Finn Balor had a great first night on RAW last week when he pinned Roman Reigns in the main event before adding that he returned from a career-threatening injury to beat Reigns on his first night back to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins then says that Finn Balor is like a “Hollywood remake”, commenting that everything that Balor has done he did first and did it “better”. Finn says that Rollins was the first to do a lot of those things, but he is going to beat Rollins at SummerSlam and become the first ever WWE Universal Champion. Rollins laughs at Finn before saying that NXT would not be where it is today without Finn Balor, saying RAW is his show and, around here, he is “the man”. Balor says that every place he’s been, there’s always been someone who claims to be “the man” and he would proceed to beat them and take their spot, in turn becoming “the man”. Rollins says that Balor has never faced him, saying he’s the “most resilient” Superstar in WWE history and Balor doesn’t know who he’s messing with. Rollins then tells Balor to watch tonight when he makes an example of Sami Zayn. Finn then comments that he “earned” his match at SummerSlam last week while Rollins had the match handed to him. Rollins then says that he’s never been handed anything in his entire life but that will change at SummerSlam when he is handed the WWE Universal Championship and he will show Finn who “the man” really is. However, Balor does not back down as Finn fires back, telling Rollins that the only thing that Rollins is going to get handed to him at SummerSlam is his “ass”! Rollins then backs away before trying to cheap-shot Balor, but Finn fights back, catching Rollins with a kick to the head, sending Rollins into retreat. With his sights set on having “one more run” in WWE, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry would challenge Rusev, with his newlywed wife Lana in his corner, for the United States Championship. Despite a valiant effort by Mark Henry, Rusev would manage to lock in the Accolade on “The World’s Strongest Man”, making the veteran tap out to successfully retain the United States Title. After the match, Rusev says that the only reason that America wins in the Olympic games is because the Olympics are “rigged”, saying that the Olympic committee is made up of “cowards” and they suspend elite athletes from Russia and Bulgaria so they won’t compete and America will win. Rusev continues, saying that no American athlete “deserves” a gold medal in this year’s Olympic games in Rio before saying that no man can take the United States Title away from him. Rusev then proclaims that he is a “super athlete” and he is a “natural born winner” before the United States Champion is interrupted by Roman Reigns. Roman gets right in the face of the United States Champion, repeatedly blocking Rusev’s exit from the ring. Rusev then catches Reigns with a cheap shot before trying to beat Roman down, but Reigns fights back, hitting a big clothesline on the United States Champion! Rusev then exits the ring, but so does Reigns as Roman leaps off of the steel steps, dropping Rusev with the Superman Punch! As Rusev looks on furiously, Roman Reigns admires Rusev’s United States Title belt. In an intriguing one-on-one match, former tag team partners would face off as Darren Young, with Bob Backlund in his corner, would go one-on-one with Titus O’Neil. In the end, after failing to hit the Clash of the Titus on Darren Young, Titus O’Neil would use questionable methods to pick up a win as Titus rolls up Darren Young, hooking the tights for the illegal advantage to pick up the win. Backstage, WWE Hall of Famer and Darren Young’s coach Bob Backlund was reading Titus O’Neil the riot act after Titus’ dubious victory over Darren moments earlier, but when Titus threatens to knock Backlund’s “old ass” down, Titus is blindsided by an enraged Darren Young, who is livid over how Titus was talking to his mentor. The Hall of Famer would then have to hold Darren Young back from the fight. In her continuing domination on RAW, Nia Jax would face local competitor Ariel Monroe. In another dominant performance, Nia Jax would hit Ariel Monroe with a fireman’s carry powerslam, pinning Monroe for the win. After the match, Nia Jax would be interviewed about her win, but Nia would knock Ariel Monroe down again before saying that Ariel Monroe should be asked how she feels. After they were ambushed by Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson last week, WWE Tag Team Champions Big E & Kofi Kingston would face Gallows & Anderson in a non-title match with Gallows & Anderson requesting that they have a fair two-on-two tag match, which would inevitably result in Xavier Woods being banned from ringside for the match. During the match, Gallows & Anderson would take the time to do their “Too Sweet” hand gesture and it would end up costing them as Big E would surprise Karl Anderson with a roll-up, picking up the win for the WWE Tag Team Champions. However, after the match, Gallows & Anderson would attack Big E & Kofi Kingston with Anderson taking care of Big E while Gallows sends Kofi face-first into the steel ring post. Xavier Woods then rushes out to try and make the save, but Luke Gallows takes Xavier out with a big boot before Gallows & Anderson turn their attention back to Big E, hitting Big E with the Boot of Doom before picking Big E up and hitting the Boot of Doom for a second time. Xavier Woods would then pull Karl Anderson out of the ring, sending Anderson into the barricade before Luke Gallows grabs Xavier by the hair, holding Woods by the hair as Anderson charges at Xavier, blasting Woods with a big knee to the head. Gallows & Anderson then exit the ringside area, having annihilated The New Day before Gallows & Anderson decide to inflict more punishment, crotching Big E on the steel ring post before leaving the area. After both men confronted Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley backstage to express their displeasure with their spots on RAW, “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro would go one-on-one with “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus with management promising a future title shot for whoever impresses Stephanie and Mick the most. At the end of a hard-hitting match, it was Cesaro hitting Sheamus with the Neutralizer, pinning Sheamus for the win. After the match, an apparent fight would break out between Cesaro and Sheamus with referees and security having to break it up. With everyone’s focus on the fight between Cesaro and Sheamus, the only Superstar who went undrafted in the WWE Draft, Heath Slater, would appear on RAW with a familiar face by his side as Slater’s former 3MB teammate Jinder Mahal would return to WWE! Heath says that it’s not his fault that he went undrafted before saying that he is joined by his friend Jinder Mahal and 2MB is going to set RAW “on fire”. This brings out RAW General Manager Mick Foley, who says that neither Slater or Mahal are on the RAW roster, saying that they are going to have a “battle of the band” that will pit the two friends against each other, explaining that the RAW roster is “stacked” so he’s only got one spot on the roster and that spot will go to whoever wins this match! As Heath Slater expresses his dissatisfaction with the GM trying to break up the friendship between he and Jinder Mahal, Jinder urges the referee to ring the bell. Unbeknownst to Heath Slater, the bell would ring and Mahal would ready himself and, when Slater turns around, Jinder blasts Heath with a big kick to the face, pinning Slater to pick up the win and earn himself a spot on the RAW roster! With a match against Finn Balor to determine the first ever WWE Universal Champion coming up at SummerSlam, RAW would see Seth Rollins go one-on-one with Sami Zayn. At the end of a hard-fought match, Seth Rollins would move out of the way of the Helluva Kick before capitalizing with the Pedigree, pinning Sami Zayn to pick up the win, picking up some momentum with SummerSlam just a few weeks away. Then it was time for the return of “The Beast” as, for the first time since WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar would make an appearance on WWE television ahead of his SummerSlam match against Randy Orton. Before Brock would come out, Brock’s advocate Paul Heyman was in the ring as Heyman says he knows that the fans have been waiting all night for Brock Lesnar to come down to the ring so they can “worship” him. Wasting little time, the advocate would then introduce his client as “The Viper-Slayer” before “The Beast” Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring. Heyman then states that, at SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar will “entertain” them because Brock’s form of entertainment is different than the former of entertainment that WWE likes to promote. Heyman continues, saying Brock’s form of entertainment is “violent” before saying that he is standing next to Brock Lesnar, meaning that he can say whatever he wants. Heyman then says that his client is not here to put his “stamp” on the new era, saying that the new era needs to “step off” to Brock Lesnar. Heyman continues, saying that Randy Orton is a twelve-time former World Champion and people say that Orton is “one RKO away” from victory in any given match. Paul Heyman then says that Randy Orton supposedly hears “voices” in his head, saying that the voices better be telling Orton that Orton is going to get dragged down to “Suplex City”. Heyman then tells Orton to take it from him when he says that Brock is going beat Orton’s ass at SummerSlam. Heyman continues, saying that Orton does not have a chance of beating Lesnar, but Orton has a chance of “survival” and the only way that Orton will have that chance is that RKO. Heyman then says that Orton is not “man enough” to get Brock in position for the RKO and Orton will “never” hit an RKO on Lesnar. However, just as Heyman says that, SmackDown Live’s Randy Orton would enter the ring out of nowhere and surprise “The Beast”, as well as everyone else, with an RKO to Brock! Referees are then quick to rush out to try and detain Randy Orton, but “The Viper” was already out of the ring and into the crowd as Paul Heyman sits in shock in the corner. RAW Commissioner Stephanie McMahon and RAW General Manager Mick Foley then come out, livid over Randy Orton’s invasion of RAW as Stephanie and Mick call for security as security is joined by the RAW locker room, who flood the ringside area to ensure that Randy Orton stays away. By this time, Brock Lesnar was back on his feet as “The Beast” stares directly at Randy Orton, who stands tall among the fans in the crowd, having fired the first physical shot against “The Beast”.
