WWE RAW Results: June 20, 2016By Cassidy| June 21, 2016 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results One night after winning the Money-in-the-Bank contract and cashing it in later that same night to defeat Seth Rollins, who had just defeated Roman Reigns to win the title, to win the WWE World Heavyweight Title at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, RAW kicks off with the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose! The new champion says he had a long night in Las Vegas before saying that Seth Rollins was the “right guy” in the “right place” at the “wrong time”. Ambrose then says that, what goes around, “comes back around” before saying that “hard work pays off” and, when it pays off, it “pays off big”. The champion continues, saying that Reigns called himself “the guy”, Rollins called himself “the man”, suggesting that maybe he’s “the dude”. Ambrose then says that the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is why he kept picking himself up and patching himself up, declaring that, now that he’s the champion, they’re not having any “hard times anymore”. This brings out one of the two men who lost the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Money-in-the-Bank as Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring to confront his best friend. Reigns says that WWE Money-in-the-Bank was not his night because last night was Ambrose’s night before Roman congratulates the new champion. Roman then asks how it felt to cash in his Money-in-the-Bank contract on Seth Rollins and Ambrose responds by saying that he would have cashed in on Reigns too. Roman then says that he’s entitled to a rematch for the title and he’s not going to anyone else but the champion. Seth Rollins then storms down to the ring, saying that he achieved his dream at WWE Money-in-the-Bank when he beat Roman fair and square to win the title before Ambrose “stole” his championship moment. Rollins then says that Roman can go to the back of the line because the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is coming back to him. Reigns then tells Rollins to “stop complaining” because there is a very easy way to settle this before Roman gets in Rollins’ face. Rollins says that he’s got nothing to prove to Roman Reigns because he beat him for the title at WWE Money-in-the-Bank. This brings Shane McMahon out to the stage, who first congratulates Dean Ambrose on becoming the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion before saying that they should have match between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins to determine the next challenger. However, Seth Rollins disagrees, saying that he already beat Roman before saying that he doesn’t think that Stephanie would approve of his decision. Shane then reveals that Stephanie is not there tonight before saying that, with the WWE Draft coming up on July 19, they need to get this settled before the three of them potentially get split up on different brands, making the match official for RAW as Seth Rollins will go one-on-one with Roman Reigns with the winner becoming the new #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship! In an attempt to settle their personal rivalry once and for all, the opening match of the night would see “The Underdog from the Underground” Sami Zayn square off with the self-proclaimed “Prizefighter” Kevin Owens just one night after both men put it all on the line in the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match. In the end, after a couple of super kicks from Kevin Owens, Owens would go for the Pop-Up Powerbomb, but Sami would counter, rolling Owens up to score the three-count and pick up the win. After the match, Kevin Owens would blindside Sami with a boot to the face on the entrance ramp. Owens would then try to powerbomb Zayn off of the stage, but Sami would fight out before pummeling Owens with right and left hands. Referees would then rush out to break up the ensuing brawl between the former friends, finally able to restore order. However, moments later, the fight between Sami and Owens would continue in the backstage area with referees, security and WWE agents having to break it up. RAW would then have a special guest as the former Executive Vice Present of Talent Relations and former General Manager John Laurinaitis comes out to the stage, standing at a podium with the SmackDown logo on it. Laurinaitis begins to discuss the upcoming WWE Draft before Shane McMahon comes out to the stage, asking Laurinaitis what he’s doing there. Laurinaitis says that he’s there to throw his hat into the ring to potentially run SmackDown. However, Shane shoots this idea down, saying that they’re not going to have a “corporate yes man” running SmackDown. Shane then says that whoever runs SmackDown is going to have the fans in mind and is going to represent the “new era” of WWE before Shane declares that he will be running SmackDown! Laurinaitis then says that he was thinking the same thing before running over to the RAW podium, offering his services to RAW. However, Shane asks Laurinaitis to leave, but “Big Johnny” evades being escorted out of the arena. After both teams failed to walk out of WWE Money-in-the-Bank as the WWE Tag Team Champions, Enzo & Cass would face The Vaudevillains on RAW. In the end, it was Enzo & Cass hitting the Bada Boom Shakalaka on Aiden English with Enzo pinning English to pick up the win for Enzo & Cass. After Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson interfered in his match with John Cena, hitting Cena with the Magic Killer after the referee got knocked down, to let him pick up the win at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles would make an appearance on RAW. Styles said that the dream match between him and John Cena at WWE Money-in-the-Bank was “tainted” by Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson, saying that he did beat John Cena but it didn’t happen the way he dreamed it would. AJ then says that, if The Club is going to continue on as a unit, then he needs Gallows & Anderson to come out there and “apologize” to him right now. Gallows & Anderson then make their way to the ring to confront “The Phenomenal One”. Styles says that he had John Cena right where he wanted him and he didn’t need their help, saying that they gave Cena an “excuse”. Styles then says that they dragged his name “through the mud”, so he needs them to look him in the eyes and apologize. Gallows & Anderson then both say that they’re “sorry” for their interference before AJ Styles asks for John Cena so Gallows & Anderson can apologize to him as well. John Cena then comes out to the stage, saying that he doesn’t need an apology, saying that he and Styles had a contract and Styles broke it. Gallows says that it’s not AJ’s fault before telling Cena that he’s sorry before Anderson says that AJ signed the contract and they did not, saying they took advantage of that fact when they interfered last night before Anderson also says that he’s sorry. Cena says that AJ is so desperate to “survive” in WWE that he needed to win at WWE Money-in-the-Bank by “any means necessary”. Cena then says that AJ is just “backpedaling” with this apology business to try and hide the fact that AJ is not as good as he says he is. AJ then accuses Cena of using Gallows & Anderson as an “excuse” because Cena is not as good as he says he is. Cena says that winning is the key to success in WWE before saying that, when you’re a champion, you have your “balls” and you have your “word” and, at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, Styles proved that he doesn’t have either. AJ then says that Gallows & Anderson did them a “favor” by giving Cena an excuse before saying that he is going to do Cena a favor in return, offering Cena a match with any member of The Club. Cena is quick to jump on this opportunity, quickly making his way down the ramp to face AJ Styles. However, AJ adds that Cena can face any member of The Club except for Styles himself before saying that Gallows & Anderson deserve to be “punished”. Styles then says that, after all, he’s already defeated Cena. Cena responds by saying that it doesn’t matter who he faces because the other two Club members will be on the outside and, when they realize that, in a fair fight, he can beat any one of them, it will become a three-on-one affair. Styles says that Cena is “wrong” before saying that he’s a man of his word, saying that Cena is going to go one-on-one with Karl Anderson and Anderson is going to beat Cena “all on his own”. Styles then tells Cena “good luck” before plugging his appearance on the Stone Cold Podcast. Following a confrontation with The Club, John Cena would go one-on-one with The Club’s Karl Anderson with AJ Styles vowing that it will be a true one-on-one match with no interference from Styles or Luke Gallows. During the match, John Cena would hit the Attitude Adjustment on Karl Anderson, but when Cena goes for the pin, AJ Styles and Luke Gallows rush out to the ring, attacking John Cena to end the match by disqualification. The Club then proves that their word is not to be trusted as The Club beats Cena down with Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson hitting Cena with the Magic Killer before Styles plants Cena in the middle of the ring with the Styles Clash, leaving The Club standing tall. Backstage, an interview with Becky Lynch regarding Natalya betraying her at WWE Money-in-the-Bank was interrupted by Natalya herself, who attacks Becky from behind, tossing Becky into an anvil case. Natalya then tells Becky that, for the first time in years, she’s going to start taking care of herself. Following his victory over Dolph Ziggler at WWE Money-in-the-Bank, “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin would face Zack Ryder on RAW. During the match, Zack Ryder would hold his own against “The Lone Wolf”, but a right hand from Baron Corbin would change the complexion of the match as Baron follows this up with the End of Days, pinning Ryder for the win. After defeating Charlotte in a non-title match on last week’s RAW, Paige would get her shot at the gold on RAW as Paige would challenge Charlotte, with Dana Brooke in her corner, for the Women’s Championship. During the match, Paige would spike Charlotte with the Ram Paige, but when Paige goes for the pin, Dana Brooke would pull Charlotte’s foot underneath the bottom rope to break up the pinfall. As a result, the referee would eject Dana Brooke from ringside as, in the ring, Charlotte connects with Natural Selection, pinning Paige to successfully retain the Women’s Title. After the match, Charlotte & Dana Brooke would attack Paige with Charlotte hitting a suplex on Paige, sending Paige out of the ring. However, this is when a former adversary would return with her sights set on the Women’s Championship as “The Boss” Sasha Banks comes out, confidently marching down the ramp to the elation of the fans in Phoenix! “The Boss” lays Dana Brooke out with a right hand on her way to the ring before Sasha gets her hands on the champion, hitting Charlotte with the Back Stabber. Sasha then holds up the Women’s Title belt, but she is blindsided by Dana Brooke before Paige comes back into the ring and, together, Sasha and Paige clear the ring of Charlotte & Dana! As the crowd chants “yes”, Sasha and Paige stand tall with their hands raised high with “The Boss” staking her claim to being the next Women’s Champion. For the first time since April, darkness would descend upon RAW as Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, & Braun Strowman return to RAW as The Wyatt Family makes their way to the ring. Bray Wyatt says that they have been “locked away” and “punished”, but they have never forgotten what they stand for. Bray then says that this is a “promise” that The Wyatt Family is as “strong” as they’ve ever been. However, Bray is then interrupted by the WWE Tag Team Champions as The New Day comes out to the stage with their usual fun-loving words. Bray responds by saying that he can see The New Day’s future, demonically chanting “New Day falls” before telling the WWE Tag Team Champions to “run”. After Rusev confronted Titus O’Neil’s kids at WWE Money-in-the-Bank and called their father a “loser”, RAW was set to see a non-title rematch between United States Champion Rusev and Titus O’Neil. However, Titus was clearly out to defend the honor of his family as Titus would not even wait for the bell to ring to start exacting his revenge, sparking a fight between the two heavyweights. The fight then spills to the outside with both men trading shots before the United States Champion sends Titus face-first into the steel ring post. Titus then fights back, sending Rusev into the barricade before sending the United States Champion over the barricade with a clothesline. This is enough for Rusev to retreat as the United States Champion stumbles away from the fight. Then it was time for the main event as, with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Dean Ambrose a guest on commentary, Seth Rollins would go one-on-one with Roman Reigns with the winner becoming the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Battleground next month. During the hotly contested matchup, Roman Reigns would have Seth Rollins on the outside with the intention of putting Rollins through the Spanish announce table, but Rollins would fight back, catching Reigns with an enziguiri. This would leave both men down on the outside at the mercy of the referee’s ten-count with Rollins sliding into the ring just in time to break the count. Roman then pulls Rollins back out of the ring before charging at Rollins, sending both men careening over the Spanish announce table and, despite the best efforts of both Reigns and Rollins, neither man would make it back into the ring before the referee’s ten-count, ending the match by double count-out, meaning that neither man is the #1 Contender. This brings out Shane McMahon, but before Shane can even make a decision, Dean Ambrose offers to face both Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins at Battleground and Shane makes it happen, announcing that the three former Shield teammates will square off in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Battleground! After hearing the announcement, Dean Ambrose would make a statement by dropping Roman Reigns with Dirty Deeds before exiting the ring. However, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion would then return to the ring to spike Seth Rollins with Dirty Deeds as well! Dean Ambrose is then left standing tall with his WWE World Heavyweight Title as his Battleground challengers are left lying in the ring. What did you think of this week’s RAW?
