WWE SmackDown Results: May 12, 2016By Cassidy| May 13, 2016 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results After completely destroying Chris Jericho’s $15,000 light-up jacket on RAW, SmackDown kicks off with “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose. Ambrose says that, the way he sees it, he and Jericho are “even” because Jericho destroyed his plant and he destroyed Jericho’s jacket. Ambrose then says that what he is really mad about is that Jericho tried to take him out last week, saying that WWE is all he has and, as long as his heart is beating, no one is going to take it away from him. “The Lunatic Fringe” continues, saying that if Jericho is going to try and take everything away from him then he is going to try and take everything away from Chris Jericho. Ambrose says that he is going to take Jericho’s “ego” away before saying that, when he gets done with Jericho, Jericho is going to be left wondering if a wrestling career is even for him anymore. This is when Dean Ambrose’s address would be interrupted by Chris Jericho’s music and pyro and, per usual, the lights would go out for Jericho’s entrance, but when they came back on, Ambrose was lying face down in the middle of the ring with Jericho standing over “The Lunatic Fringe” with a bag in his hand! Jericho then pulls a straightjacket out of the bag, strapping the helpless Ambrose in the binding straightjacket. Ambrose then comes to, struggling to get free, but without the use of his arms, “The Lunatic Fringe” was at the mercy of Chris Jericho as “Y2J” pummels Ambrose with punches and kicks, shouting at Ambrose to “get crazy”. Jericho then props Ambrose up in the corner, slapping Ambrose across the face. Ambrose then gets a couple of kicks in before Jericho drops Ambrose with the Codebreaker. Referees then rush to the ring to try and stop the attack, but Jericho would break free, hitting the helpless Ambrose with a second Codebreaker before leaving the ring. As referees check on Dean Ambrose in the ring, Jericho stands on the announce table as he tells the crowd that he is going to give them what they all need, the “gift of Jericho”. After some outside interference from Kalisto led to Sin Cara picking up an upset victory over Rusev on RAW, the opening match of the night would see the #1 Contender for the United States Title, Rusev, with Lana in his corner, square off with Kalisto’s tag team partner Sin Cara with United States Champion Kalisto a guest on commentary. During the match, Lana would cause a scene on the outside by throwing water in the face of the United States Champion. This would get Kalisto to his feet and would also distract Sin Cara and, after Rusev knocks Sin Cara off of the top rope, Rusev would roll out of the ring and blast Kalisto from behind with a straight kick to the head. Rusev then heads back into the ring, delivering the same kick to Sin Cara before locking in the Accolade, making Sin Cara tap out to pick up the win and make a major statement in the process. After the match, Rusev would grab Kalisto’s United States Title belt, admiring the belt that could very well be his again come Extreme Rules. Following the reunion of Emma & Dana Brooke on RAW, where they left Becky Lynch laying in the backstage area, former bodybuilding champion Dana Brooke would make her in-ring debut on the main roster on SmackDown as Dana, with Emma in her corner, would go one-on-one with “The Irish Lass Kicker” Becky Lynch. During the match, Dana Brooke would distract the referee, allowing Emma the opportunity to deliver a thumb to the previously injured eye of Becky Lynch and Dana would take advantage, using a jackknife roll-up to score the three-count, defeating Becky in her in-ring main roster debut. With a WWE Tag Team Title defense against The Vaudevillains coming up a week from this Sunday at Extreme Rules, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day were on SmackDown as The New Day’s Kofi Kingston, with Big E & Xavier Woods in his corner, would go one-on-one with The Vaudevillains’ Aiden English, with Simon Gotch in his corner. During the match, Simon Gotch would try to interfere in the match, but Big E & Xavier Woods would pull Gotch out of the ring. However, the referee would see this and would eject Simon Gotch, Big E, & Xavier Woods from ringside! Shortly after this, Kofi Kingston would go for a sunset flip roll-up on Aiden English, but English would counter, grabbing the middle rope for the illegal advantage, keeping Kofi down for the three-count to pick up the win. With their cousin, Roman Reigns, set to defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against AJ Styles in an Extreme Rules Match at Extreme Rules, The Usos would face The Club’s Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in tag team action with both Roman Reigns and AJ Styles banned from ringside. During the match, Jimmy Uso would hit a super kick to Karl Anderson, followed by the Uso Splash, but Luke Gallows would pull Jimmy out of the ring before the three-count. Gallows would then toss Jimmy over the announce table as the referee calls for the bell before Jey Uso dives to the outside, taking out Luke Gallows! Anderson then grabs Jey Uso, sending Jey into the steel steps before leveling Jey with the Rocket Kick. Jimmy Uso then launches himself off of the announce table, taking out Anderson before Gallows grabs a steel chair, delivering a shot to Jey’s back! Anderson then follows this up with a chair shot to the back of Jimmy Uso before Anderson takes a seat in the chair, saying “this is what The Club is all about”. SmackDown would then see the unusual team of R-Truth & Tyler Breeze, The Gorgeous Truth, square off with the equally as unusual Goldust & Fandango, collectively known as Goldango. During the match, it would become clear that R-Truth and Goldust had no interest in competing against each other as R-Truth would tag out to Tyler Breeze while Goldust would tag out to Fandango. However, when R-Truth tries to exit the ring, he is shoved to the outside by Breeze and, when Breeze tries to attack Goldust from behind, Fandango stops Breeze before Fandango turns around and levels Goldust with a clothesline! Fandango then just stands by as Tyler Breeze pins Goldust for the win. After the match, Fandango and Tyler Breeze would work together to dismantle Goldust before R-Truth attempts to make the save. However, Breeze and Fandango would get the better of R-Truth as well to the point of Goldust literally laying on top of R-Truth to protect Truth from a further beatdown. Then it was time for the main event as, ten nights before they battle in a Fatal 4-Way Match for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules, “The Underdog from the Underground” Sami Zayn would team with “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro to face Kevin Owens and Intercontinental Champion The Miz, with Maryse in his corner. During the match, Kevin Owens’ trend of not getting along with his tag team partners would continue as The Miz would tag in Kevin Owens, but when Owens tries to tag out to avoid fighting Sami Zayn, The Miz refuses to tag in. However, The Miz and Kevin Owens would appear to get back on the same page for the time being. Later on in the chaotic match, Cesaro would have The Miz in the corner, but when Sami Zayn tries to catch Miz with the Helluva Kick, the Intercontinental Champion moves out of the way and Sami inadvertently takes Cesaro out with the kick! The Miz then pulls Sami out of the ring as Kevin Owens connects with the frog splash off of the top rope, pinning Cesaro for the win. After the match, The Miz would bring Sami Zayn back into the ring with Sami briefly getting the better of The Miz before Owens pulls Sami off of the Intercontinental Champion, planting Sami with the Pop-Up Powerbomb. The Miz then spots his chance to strike, planting Owens face-first with the Skull Crushing Finale, leaving The Miz as the man standing tall with his Extreme Rules adversaries laid out around him.
