WWE RAW Results: May 9, 2016By Cassidy| May 10, 2016 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results After smashing Dean Ambrose’s pet plant Mitch over Ambrose’s head on last week’s RAW, RAW kicks off with “Y2J” Chris Jericho as the six-time former World Champion would host his talk show segment, The Highlight Reel. Jericho says that his guest on The Highlight Reel was supposed to be Dean Ambrose, but Ambrose is unable to be on RAW because of his attack on Ambrose last week, saying that Ambrose might not be in WWE for a “long time” because of him. Jericho then says that he’s got the “next best thing” to Dean Ambrose, showing the “remains” of Mitch the plant. Jericho continues, saying that both Dean Ambrose and Mitch underestimated the “tsunami” that is Chris Jericho. Jericho then says that both Ambrose and his potted plant friend are both laying on a table waiting to be “put back together again” before showing several tweets from the fans about Mitch the plant. Jericho continues, saying he could glue Mitch back together and sell him at a flea market for “twelve bucks” and it would still be worth more than Dean Ambrose is to WWE. Jericho then says that Ambrose is a “slob” and an “every man”, while he is a “legend”, saying that he knows what the fans want before saying that they want the “gift of Jericho”. Chris Jericho is then interrupted by Big Cass, who makes his way to the ring to confront “Y2J”. Cass says that, if Jericho is the “gift”, then he better give him a receipt because he’s going to return it to the store. Big Cass then says that Jericho is one of the “greatest of all-time”, but this is the “new era”, saying that they have “arrived” before Cass has a “warning” for Chris Jericho, declaring that he has “arrived”. Cass continues, saying that Jericho better get out of his way or he will “run through” Jericho! Jericho then jokes that Cass’ tag partner Enzo Amore is probably in the same hospital ward as Dean Ambrose. Big Cass then says that, in the new era, they “stand and fight” and, as a matter of fact, they can fight right now! Jericho begins to tell Cass that he’s the best in the world at what he does, but Cass pushes the microphone away from Jericho’s face, saying that Jericho may be the best in the world at what he does, but he is “seven feet tall and you can’t teach that”! Jericho then takes off his jacket, but instead opts to walk away from the newcomer as Big Cass says that there is only “one word” to describe Jericho, calling Jericho “sawft”. Jericho responds by rushing back to the ring, but when “Y2J” gets to the ring apron, Big Cass drops the six-time former World Champion with a big boot, making an emphatic statement on behalf of the new era of Superstars! Backstage, Chris Jericho confronts one-half of the RAW ownership, Stephanie McMahon, imploring Stephanie to help him fight back against Shane McMahon’s new era. However, Stephanie says that her brother is doing the “right thing” before saying that, tonight, Chris Jericho will go one-on-one with Big Cass to prove that he’s not “sawft”. Stephanie then warns Jericho to never, ever try and drive a wedge between her and Shane again, mocking one of Jericho’s signature catchphrases. After Baron Corbin cost Dolph Ziggler a shot at the United States Championship in a #1 Contender’s Battle Royal on last week’s RAW, “The Show Off” would be looking for payback on RAW as the opening match of the night would see Dolph Ziggler go one-on-one with “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin. Despite a valiant effort by Dolph Ziggler, it was Baron Corbin hitting the End of Days, pinning “The Show Off” to pick up the win. Backstage, Women’s Champion Charlotte and her father Ric Flair confront Shane McMahon, trying to get Shane to change Stephanie’s decision to put Charlotte in a Submission Match against Natalya for the Women’s Title at Extreme Rules with Ric Flair banned from ringside. Shane says that Stephanie’s decision stands, saying that Charlotte needs to learn to stand on her own two feet before saying that, not only does Stephanie’s decision stands for Extreme Rules, it also stands for tonight, saying that Ric Flair will be banned from ringside for Charlotte’s match against Paige tonight! Before Goldango squares off with The Gorgeous Truth in tag team action on SmackDown, RAW would see R-Truth, with Tyler Breeze in his corner, go one-on-one with Fandango, with Goldust in his corner. In the end, it was R-Truth hitting the Lie Detector, pinning Fandango for the win. Backstage, Shane McMahon and Stephanie McMahon are confronted by Cesaro, Kevin Owens, and Intercontinental Champion The Miz as the siblings set up a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship between the three of them at Extreme Rules. However, this brings Sami Zayn into the picture as Sami has a proposition for Shane & Stephanie, suggesting that, tonight, he faces The Miz in a non-title match and, if he wins, then the Intercontinental Title match at Extreme Rules will be a Fatal 4-Way Match! Despite The Miz’s protests, Shane & Stephanie would take Sami Zayn up on his proposition, making the match official. Less than two weeks before she defends the Women’s Championship against Natalya in a Submission Match with Ric Flair banned from ringside at Extreme Rules, Women’s Champion Charlotte would go one-on-one with Paige in a non-title match on RAW with Natalya a guest on commentary and, as decreed by Shane McMahon, Ric Flair would be banned from ringside for the match. Paige would dominate the majority of the match, but Charlotte would spot an opportunity to send Paige face-first into the middle turnbuckle. The champion would then try to pin Paige with her feet on the ropes for the illegal advantage, but Natalya would get on the ring apron, distracting Charlotte long enough for Paige to take advantage with a fallaway slam, but this would fail to get Paige the victory. Then, despite being banned from ringside by Shane McMahon, Ric Flair would make his way out to ringside to confront Natalya. This would distract Paige long enough for Charlotte to gain the advantage, but Ric Flair’s presence at ringside would bring Shane McMahon out with several referees as Shane and the referees escort Ric Flair to the back. Meanwhile, in the ring, Paige would again take advantage of Charlotte being distracted, rolling Charlotte up, scoring the three-count to pick up the win over the Women’s Champion! With a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship set for Extreme Rules, Sami Zayn would look to get added to the title match as “The Underdog from the Underground” would go one-on-one with Intercontinental Champion The Miz, with Maryse in his corner, in a non-title match and, if Sami wins, he will be added to the Intercontinental Title match at Extreme Rules, making it a Fatal 4-Way Match. During a hard-fought match, Sami Zayn would continue to survive, even making it to the ropes when The Miz locks in the Figure-Four Leg Lock. The Miz would then hold Sami down for a pin, but would grab the top rope for the illegal advantage, getting caught by the referee. This would result in The Miz arguing with the referee and Sami Zayn would take advantage, delivering a suplex to The Miz in the corner before scoring with the Helluva Kick, pinning the Intercontinental Champion to gain entry into the Intercontinental Championship match at Extreme Rules! After losing to Emma after Emma used a thumb to her previously injured eye last week, a backstage interview with Becky Lynch is interrupted by Emma, who tells Becky to just admit that she’s “inferior” before saying that, what Becky really needs, is eyes in the back of her head. This is the cue for NXT’s Dana Brooke to blindside Becky as, together, Emma & Dana put the boots to Becky before Dana tells Becky that E.N.D., Emma & Dana, are there and “playtime is over”! With his tag team partner, Kalisto, set to defend the United States Title against Rusev at Extreme Rules, Sin Cara, with United States Champion Kalisto in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, with Lana in his corner. During the match, a distraction from Lana would backfire for Rusev as, behind the referee’s back, Kalisto would deliver a kick to the head of Rusev, giving Sin Cara the opportunity to roll Rusev up for the upset victory. Following their 6-Man Tag match that paved the way for some extreme combat last week, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns would team with his cousins The Usos as The Family would face The Club, #1 Contender AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson, in a 6-Man Elimination Tag Match! During the match, a right from Luke Gallows to Jey Uso from the outside would allow Karl Anderson to roll Jey up, hooking the tights and scoring the three-count to eliminate Jey Uso from the match. Karl Anderson is the next competitor eliminated as Jimmy Uso surprises Anderson with a roll-up, evening the match up. Shortly after this, AJ Styles would score with the Phenomenal Forearm to Jimmy Uso, pinning Jimmy to eliminate from the match, leaving Roman Reigns on his own to fight AJ Styles & Luke Gallows. However, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion would even things up with the Superman Punch, pinning Luke Gallows to eliminate Gallows from the match, leaving it down to Roman and Styles, one-on-one. A fired up AJ Styles would take it to Roman Reigns before “The Phenomenal One” would bring the champion to the outside, exposing the announce table. However, Roman would battle back, tossing the #1 Contender over the announce table before Reigns is set to send Styles through the announce table again. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson would then make the save for AJ Styles with Anderson hitting Roman with a steel chair, ending the match by disqualification. The Usos then rejoin the fray, brawling with Gallows & Anderson in the ring, but Gallows & Anderson would get the better of the situation, tossing The Usos out of the ring. Roman Reigns then enters the ring, taking both Gallows & Anderson out with the Spear before AJ Styles catches Roman with a kick to the head. “The Phenomenal One” was then set to deliver the Styles Clash to the champion on a steel chair, but Roman would counter, sending Styles to the ring apron. With a steel chair between them, the Extreme Rules opponents would lock their gaze on the other. The champion then demonstrates that he doesn’t need a steel chair to beat Styles, putting the chair at AJ’s feet, but AJ would demonstrate the exact same thing, kicking the chair back to Reigns. Roman then goes to pick up the chair as Styles tries to strike with the Phenomenal Forearm, but Reigns ducks the #1 Contender and Styles is quick to exit the ring just as Reigns is about to swing the chair at the #1 Contender! This leaves Reigns standing tall, holding up the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt as AJ Styles glares at his Extreme Rules opponent. After a backstage confrontation earlier in the night, RAW would see Kevin Owens square off with Zack Ryder with the stipulation that, if Ryder beats Owens, then Ryder will take Owens’ spot in the Fatal 4-Way Match for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules. In the end, it was Kevin Owens planting Zack Ryder with the Pop-Up Powerbomb, pinning Ryder to ensure that he keeps his spot in the Fatal 4-Way Match for the Intercontinental Title at Extreme Rules. With their WWE Tag Team Title defense against The Vaudevillains coming up at Extreme Rules, the WWE Tag Team Champions were in action on RAW as The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, would face The Dudley Boyz in a non-title match. During the match, The Vaudevillains would emerge, attacking Xavier Woods on the outside, distracting Big E & Kofi Kingston. As Bubba Ray keeps Big E at bay on the outside, D-Von levels Kofi Kingston with a stiff clothesline, pinning Kofi for the win. After the match, The Vaudevillains would target Kofi Kingston, delivering the Whirling Dervish to Kofi before exiting the ring, having made a lasting statement ahead of their title match at Extreme Rules. Then it was time for the main event as, in the biggest match of his career to date, the seven-foot newcomer Big Cass was set to go one-on-one with six-time former World Champion Chris Jericho. However, when Chris Jericho was making his entrance, he would be attacked in the dark by an unknown assailant, who puts on Jericho’s light-up jacket and wears it to the ring. The lights then come on to reveal that it’s none other than Dean Ambrose wearing the jacket! As Chris Jericho screams at Dean Ambrose from the stage, “The Lunatic Fringe” takes off Jericho’s custom jacket, ripping the jacket to shreds and tearing the wiring out of the garment! This brings Jericho to the ring as a brawl breaks out between Ambrose and Jericho before Jericho uses a rake to the eye to get the better of Ambrose. Jericho then grabs his destroyed jacket and exits the ring, but “Y2J” would soon find himself face-to-face with Big Cass! Jericho then screams at the big man to get out of his way, even slapping Cass across the face! Big Cass responds by tossing Jericho into the barricade, sending “Y2J” back into the ring, where a waiting Dean Ambrose spikes Jericho with Dirty Deeds! Big Cass then tosses Jericho’s jacket back into the ring as Ambrose tears the wiring out of the jacket before taking a pair of scissors to the jacket, shredding the prized possession even further before tossing the remains of the jacket at Jericho, who comes to, realizing that his $15,000 jacket is in shreds all over the ring! A livid Jericho then screams at Dean Ambrose, thoroughly embarrassed by “The Lunatic Fringe”. What did you think of this week’s RAW? Post your comments in the box below.
