WWE RAW Results: May 2, 2016By Cassidy| May 3, 2016 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results One night after her father, WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, declared at Payback that both her and her brother Shane would share equal control of Monday Night RAW, RAW kicks off with Stephanie McMahon, who makes her way to the ring. However, before Stephanie can even welcome everyone to RAW, she is interrupted by her brother as Shane McMahon makes his way to the ring. Stephanie says that, in Shane’s seven-year absence from WWE, she learned how to be a good “business partner” before saying that, like it or not, they are both in charge of RAW. Stephanie then presents a “peace offering” to her brother as Shane cautiously reaches into the gift bag, pulling out the repaired picture of a young Shane and Vince that Mr. McMahon destroyed several weeks ago on RAW. Surprisingly, Stephanie then says that the people want to hear what Shane has in store for RAW, but Shane says that he is “moved” by Stephanie’s gift so they should hear what Stephanie has planned for RAW. Stephanie polls the crowd, convincing Shane to let everyone hear his ideas. However, Shane and Stephanie are then interrupted by a man who made an emphatic statement at Payback by not only defeating Sami Zayn in a stellar match, but was left standing tall holding The Miz’s Intercontinental Title belt as Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring. Owens mockingly says how “touching” it is to see Shane and Stephanie reconcile in the ring. Owens then says that he thinks that they should give him what he deserves and that is a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Owens continues, saying that he proved at Payback that he is “better” than Sami Zayn and, now that he’s done with Sami Zayn, he wants his rematch for the Intercontinental Title tonight. Owens then says that he has no faith in Shane making the right decision, saying that Stephanie knows what the “right move” is. Owens then says that it is in his contract that he is entitled to a rematch for the Intercontinental Championship, which he never received after losing the title at WrestleMania. This brings out “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro, who made The Miz tap out in their Intercontinental Title match at Payback, but the ensuing fight between Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn would end up costing Cesaro the match and the championship. Cesaro says that Owens stuck his nose where it didn’t belong and, if it wasn’t for Owens, he would be standing there as the Intercontinental Champion. Shane then says that, in the “new era” of WWE, they settle things in the ring, announcing that Cesaro and Owens will go one-on-one right now to determine the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship. In a rematch from a few weeks ago on RAW, “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro would go one-on-one with Kevin Owens with the winner becoming the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship with Intercontinental Champion The Miz and his wife Maryse a guest on commentary. During the match, both Superstars would fight on the outside with Kevin Owens deciding to try and deliver a cheap shot with The Miz’s Intercontinental Title belt, but The Miz would take his title belt back from Owens and the distraction would give Cesaro an opening to catch Owens with an uppercut before delivering an uppercut to The Miz as well! Back in the ring, Cesaro would go for the Cesaro Swing on Kevin Owens, but The Miz would rush the ring, attacking Cesaro and ending the match by disqualification. After the match, Kevin Owens would get in The Miz’s face before Cesaro gets involved, leading to both Miz and Owens attacking Cesaro. However, the odds would be evened once Sami Zayn comes out for the save and, after Owens shoves The Miz between him and Zayn, Sami takes the Intercontinental Champion down before getting a piece of Kevin Owens. The Miz would then look for the Skull Crushing Finale on Sami Zayn, but Sami would counter, delivering a half nelson suplex to The Miz in the corner before drilling Kevin Owens with the Helluva Kick! Sami would then size The Miz up for the Helluva Kick, but Maryse would pull her husband to safety. This leaves Sami Zayn standing tall in the ring before Sami sets his sights on the Intercontinental Title belt, holding the belt high, clearly showing that he wants a shot at the title. Backstage, AJ Styles is having a discussion with Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson as Anderson tells Styles that, in three weeks at Extreme Rules, there is no way that Roman Reigns is walking out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. This brings Roman Reigns into the locker room as, with Styles holding Gallows & Anderson back, the champion says that, after Payback, he’s got a lot of “respect” for Styles but he doesn’t have any respect for Gallows & Anderson. Reigns then says that the fact that Gallows & Anderson got involved at Payback proves that Gallows & Anderson don’t think that Styles can be “the guy” on his own. Roman then asks if the three of them can beat him and The Usos before Styles says that, at Extreme Rules, he’s going to beat Roman for the title all on his own. “The Phenomenal One” then accepts the challenge from the champion as it will be Roman Reigns and The Usos taking on AJ Styles, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson! With Goldust aligning himself with Fandango to make R-Truth jealous and R-Truth aligning himself with Tyler Breeze for the same reason, RAW would see Goldust, with Fandango in his corner, go one-on-one with Tyler Breeze, with R-Truth in his corner. During the match, R-Truth and Fandango would both dance to try and get Goldust’s attention, which would end up costing Goldust the match as Breeze rolls Goldust up for the win. After the Finals of the #1 Contenders’ Tag Team Tournament between Enzo & Big Cass and The Vaudevillains ended abruptly due to a severe concussion suffered by Enzo Amore early on in the match, the match would be awarded to The Vaudevillains and, three weeks before they defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against The Vaudevillains at Extreme Rules, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day were on RAW. After updating everyone on the condition of Enzo Amore, The New Day’s address is interrupted by their Extreme Rules opponents, The Vaudevillains. Aiden English says that what happened at Payback was “tragic”, but a “real man” would have gotten back up. English then says that they represent the “skills of a bygone era”. Now in the ring, Simon Gotch says that they made Enzo Amore the “realest guy in the emergency room” before The Vaudevillains are interrupted by the arrival of The Dudley Boyz. Bubba Ray tells The Vaudevillains that they didn’t beat anyone at Payback, reminding the #1 Contenders that the referee had to stop the match and all they did was twirl their mustaches like the “Monopoly man”. Bubba Ray then says that, as far as they are concerned, they need to restart the whole tag team tournament right now! Now in the ring, D-Von says that, if anybody deserves a shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles, it’s them because they are the “baddest tag team on the planet”. Having heard enough, Enzo Amore’s tag team partner Big Cass comes out to the stage, saying that he’s been in the back listening to The Vaudevillains run their mouths about Enzo Amore. Big Cass then says that Enzo is his “family” and they messed with his family, so, now, he’s going to finish what they started last night. Big Cass continues, saying that he and Enzo already knocked The Dudley Boyz out of the tournament before calling both The Vaudevillains and The Dudley Boyz “sawft”. Big Cass then fearlessly enters the ring, sparking a huge brawl between himself, The Vaudevillains, The Dudley Boyz, and The New Day! The brawl would make way for an 8-Man Tag match as Big Cass would team with WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day to face The Vaudevillains and The Dudley Boyz. In the end, it was Big Cass hitting the East River Crossing on D-Von Dudley, pinning D-Von to pick up the win for himself and The New Day. In a women’s match with an international flavor, Becky Lynch would return to action on RAW as “The Irish Lass Kicker” would go one-on-one with Emma. During the match, Emma would use the referee’s pre-occupation with Becky Lynch to her advantage, delivering a thumb to the eye of Becky before drilling Becky with the Michinoku Driver, pinning Becky for the win. Following a confrontation backstage, “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose would be on RAW to host the Ambrose Asylum with his special guest, Stephanie McMahon. After introducing himself and his fake fichus Mitch, Ambrose would introduce his guest, Stephanie McMahon. Stephanie compliments “The Lunatic Fringe” on the Ambrose Asylum set before Ambrose says that he’s not buying this nice act that Stephanie is putting on, saying that Stephanie has got to be filled with “rage” after Payback. Stephanie responds by saying that Ambrose is “paranoid” before saying that she is just “happy”. Ambrose then brings up when Stephanie got speared by Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, trying to bring the real Stephanie to the forefront. However, Stephanie remains calm, saying that she shouldn’t have gotten in the ring during the title match at WrestleMania and Roman taught her a “lesson” for doing so. Ambrose then brings up Shane McMahon, saying that Shane came back after a seven-year absence and the fans love him, saying that Shane has done a better job of running RAW than The Authority “ever did”. Stephanie says that the fact that the fans still love Shane McMahon is proof of the “loyalty” of the fans, saying that “loyalty” means everything to her, asking where WWE would be without loyalty. Ambrose then asks that, due to Stephanie’s loyalty to the family business, how many of her kids’ birthday parties and dance recitals has Stephanie missed all for the sake of the company? Ambrose then asks Stephanie if she thinks that Shane has made the same “sacrifices” that Stephanie has over the last seven years, saying that it’s got to get her a little “upset”. Though it appeared as if what Ambrose said got to Stephanie, Stephanie still remains calm, saying that her father taught her that, sometimes, things need to “change”. Stephanie then says that she thinks it’s time that she applies her lesson to Dean Ambrose, saying that Ambrose has been doing the Ambrose Asylum for a few weeks now and she thinks that it’s time for a “change”. Stephanie continues, saying that Shane created the Ambrose Asylum a few weeks ago and, now, she is going to officially “cancel” it! Ambrose admits that it “hurts” losing the Ambrose Asylum, but hosting a talk show was a lot of work anyways, telling Stephanie she can keep the set and everything before grabbing his plant, Mitch, and saying they’re just going to leave. Ambrose then exits the ring with his plant before Stephanie announces the return of The Highlight Reel, bringing out the man that Ambrose beat at Payback, Chris Jericho. However, upon seeing each other, a fight would break out between Ambrose and Jericho with the fight spilling into the ring where Jericho gets the better of the fight, dropping Ambrose with the Codebreaker. “Y2J” then dismantles the Ambrose Asylum set before turning his attention to Ambrose’s fichus, Mitch. Jericho then picks Mitch up, smashing the potted plant over the head of Ambrose! After successfully retaining the United States Title against Ryback on the Payback Kickoff show, United States Champion Kalisto was a guest on commentary as a battle royal would determine the new #1 Contender for the United States Championship with Sheamus, Apollo Crews, Rusev, Titus O’Neil, Dolph Ziggler, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel, Viktor, Damien Sandow, Stardust, Darren Young, Zack Ryder, Sin Cara, Alberto Del Rio, and Baron Corbin all competing to earn a future shot at the United States Championship. Titus O’Neil is the first to score an elimination, sending Viktor over the top rope to the floor followed shortly by Titus eliminating Damien Sandow. Apollo Crews would then eliminate his recent rival Stardust before Social Outcast teammates Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel work together to eliminate Darren Young. Apollo Crews then gets his first taste of defeat when he is eliminated by Sheamus. Dolph Ziggler then delivers a dropkick to his rival, Baron Corbin, eliminating “The Lone Wolf” from the match, but Corbin would pull Dolph out of the ring under the bottom rope, tossing Ziggler into the barricade before sending Dolph face-first into the steel ring post. Corbin then rolls Dolph back into the ring at the feet of Rusev, who gladly tosses the helpless Dolph over the top rope, eliminating “The Show Off”. Sheamus then tosses Titus O’Neil over the top rope to the outside, eliminating Titus from the battle royal. Alberto Del Rio then delivers his signature double stomp to Curtis Axel before eliminating Axel from the match. On the other side of the ring, Kalisto’s tag team partner Sin Cara eliminates Bo Dallas before the remnants of The League of Nations work together to take control of the battle royal. However, just when it looks like Sin Cara was starting to battle back, Alberto Del Rio would eliminate the masked man, leaving it down to four competitors in the battle royal. Sheamus then tries to work together with his former League of Nations colleagues, Rusev and Alberto Del Rio as the three of them work together to try and eliminate Zack Ryder. Sheamus, Rusev, & Del Rio would then send Ryder over the top rope, but Ryder would land on the apron. Convinced that they eliminated Zack Ryder, the former teammates would fight amongst each other before Ryder briefly gets back in the fight. Sheamus would then go for the Brogue Kick to Rusev, but Rusev would dodge the move before catching “The Celtic Warrior” with a super kick. Del Rio then clotheslines Sheamus over the top rope, but Sheamus lands on the ring apron before a straight kick to the head from Del Rio sends Sheamus to the floor, eliminating “The Celtic Warrior”. Rusev then sets his sights on Del Rio, getting Del Rio to the ring apron before Zack Ryder spots his opening, catching Del Rio with a dropkick that eliminates Del Rio from the match, leaving it down to just Rusev and Zack Ryder! Fueled by the support of the fans, Zack Ryder would take it to Rusev, but when Ryder would try to eliminate “The Bulgarian Brute”, Rusev would counter, eliminating Ryder from the battle royal as Rusev wins the match to become the new #1 Contender for the United States Title. After the match, Rusev would be joined by his fiancée Lana as Rusev shouts at United States Champion Kalisto, having earned a future opportunity to regain the United States Title. After Bret Hart had to bear witness to the Montreal Screwjob being rehashed right in front of him at Payback when Charlotte locked in the Sharpshooter on Natalya before referee Charles Robinson, a longtime friend of the Flair family, rang the bell with Natalya clearly not tapping out, screwing Natalya out of the Women’s Title, Women’s Champion Charlotte and her father Ric Flair would be on RAW to address the Payback controversy. The Women’s Champion says that Natalya pushed her to the limit at Payback but she still walked out as the champion. Ric Flair then says that there was no “controversy” at Payback, saying that Natalya quit just like everyone in the Hart family. Charlotte says that they know that, but she doesn’t want her reign as champion to be “tarnished” by any lingering questions. The Women’s Champion then asks for referee Charles Robinson to come to the ring. The longtime friend of the Flair family and former personal referee for The Four Horsemen then makes his way to the ring. Charlotte then tells Robinson that all she wants is for the referee to tell the truth, asking if Natalya submitted to the Sharpshooter at Payback. As Charlotte and her father look on gleefully, Charles Robinson claims that Natalya did submit to the Sharpshooter, but not by tapping out, claiming that Natalya was yelling “stop it”. The ecstatic Ric Flair then says that Natalya was “begging” for the match to be stopped. Charlotte then asks Robinson if his respect for his “idol” Ric Flair had “nothing to do” with his decision at Payback. This question would appear to confuse “Little Naitch” as Robinson would first answer “yes” before changing his answer to an adamant “no”. The Women’s Champion then has one last question for Charles Robinson, asking for confirmation that his decision is “final”. With a sneaky smile on his face, Robinson proudly states that, yes, his decision in the Women’s Title match at Payback if “final”. Robinson then fist bumps “The Nature Boy” before leaving the ring just as Natalya storms out to the ring, snatching the microphone away from the champion. Natalya says that this isn’t about Charles Robinson and this isn’t about Charlotte, it’s about Ric Flair, saying that Flair paid a referee to screw her out of the Women’s Championship. Natalya then says that everyone knows the truth and the truth is that, when it comes to the Flair family and the Hart family, the Harts are “the best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be”. Charlotte would then try to cheap shot Natalya, but Natalya would get the better of the Women’s Champion, sending Charlotte out of the ring. Natalya then comes face-to-face with Ric Flair as the two-time Hall of Famer takes off his jacket, apparently ready to fight Natalya! Natalya would then slap “The Nature Boy” across the face before locking in the Sharpshooter on the Hall of Famer. Charlotte would then save her father, pulling Flair out of the ring, leaving Natalya standing tall with Natalya having gained a measure of revenge. Backstage, Stephanie McMahon confronts Women’s Champion Charlotte and her father Ric Flair, announcing that, in three weeks at Extreme Rules, Charlotte will defend the Women’s Championship against Natalya once again, but it will be in a Submission Match! Stephanie then says that she knows how far back Flair and her husband, Triple H, go, so she knows that Flair will understand that she is banning him from ringside at Extreme Rules! Stephanie then says that some people are saying that Flair is becoming a “distraction” and they need Charlotte on her “A game” come Extreme Rules and if Flair is going to behave like he did tonight, then he needs to be banned from ringside, leaving a visibly displeased Charlotte and Ric Flair behind as she exits. Then it was time for the main event as, with his title defense against AJ Styles in an Extreme Rules Match coming up at Extreme Rules, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns would team with his cousins The Usos to face “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in a 6-Man Tag match. During a chaotic match, Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson would take Roman Reigns out on the outside with the Boot of Doom as, in the ring, AJ Styles catches Jimmy Uso with the Phenomenal Forearm, pinning Jimmy to pick up the win for himself, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson. After the match, Luke Gallows rolls Roman Reigns into the ring as Karl Anderson gets a steel chair. Gallows then pulls Reigns to his feet as Anderson sizes the champion up, but AJ Styles doesn’t appear to be on the same page with his friends. Anderson then tells Styles to hit Roman with the chair before Gallows & Anderson hold Reigns for Styles. However, Styles wants no part of it, tossing the chair to the side before Gallows & Anderson take it upon themselves to continue beating down the champion. This brings The Usos back into the fray as Jey Uso waylays Styles in the back with the steel chair before The Usos and Gallows & Anderson brawl with The Usos getting the better of Gallows & Anderson, sending the team out of the ring. This is when AJ Styles would pick up the steel chair, delivering a chair shot to the back of Jimmy Uso and a chair shot to the mid-section and the back of Jey Uso. However, Roman Reigns would see Styles attacking his cousins with the chair and, when “The Phenomenal One” turns around, he is dropped with the Superman Punch before tossing Styles to the outside. The champion then exposes the announce table, tossing Styles into the barricade before lifting Styles up and hurling “The Phenomenal One” through the table with a vicious powerbomb! Reigns then stands tall over the destruction, making it clear that he is ready to go to the extreme at Extreme Rules. What did you think of this week’s RAW? Post your comments in the box below.
