WWE SmackDown Results: April 7, 2016By Cassidy| April 8, 2016 WWE SmackDown Unfinished Business. Four nights after WrestleMania, the 868th edition of WWE Thursday Night SmackDown came to you from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. This past Sunday’s WrestleMania was the pinnacle of Zack Ryder’s career when Ryder overcame the challenge of six other Superstars in a Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship, finally getting his WrestleMania moment by becoming the brand new Intercontinental Champion. However, Zack Ryder’s time as the Intercontinental Champion would be short-lived as, the next night on RAW, Ryder was goaded into a title defense against The Miz. During the match, The Miz would get in the face of Zack Ryder’s dad at ringside and Mr. Ryder would shove The Miz down before The Miz’s wife Maryse would come out of the crowd, slapping Ryder’s dad across the face. This would distract Ryder long enough for The Miz to hit the Skull Crushing Finale, pinning Zack Ryder to become the new Intercontinental Champion for the fifth time in his career. After his grand heist on RAW, The Miz would put the gold on the line in a rematch on SmackDown as, with his wife Maryse in his corner, The Miz would defend the Intercontinental Championship against the former champion Zack Ryder. Can Zack Ryder pay The Miz back for stealing the title from him on RAW or will the combined efforts of both The Miz and his wife Maryse be too much for Ryder to overcome?
