WWE SmackDown Results: March 3, 2016By Cassidy| March 4, 2016 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results After getting pummeled by WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H on RAW, SmackDown would kick off with Dean Ambrose as “The Lunatic Fringe” would hobble down to the ring. After grabbing a chair and taking a seat in the middle of the ring, Ambrose says that he likes to live the life that’s right in front of his face even though it doesn’t always work out. Ambrose continues, saying that his “five-second plan” turned into a “five-minute beating” on RAW, but it worked out for him on RAW as he will get a shot at the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Roadblock special on the WWE Network on March 12. Ambrose says that he’s thrown a wrench into everyone’s WrestleMania plans, pondering who he will be facing at WrestleMania when he beats Triple H for the title. Ambrose then says that he’s just going to take his time and do his own thing. Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens then interrupts Dean Ambrose’s address, saying that Ambrose has been doing nothing but getting beat up the last couple of weeks. Owens then says that Ambrose has got two big matches in his near future while he still doesn’t have a “credible challenger” for his Intercontinental Championship. Now in the ring, Owens says that Ambrose is “everything that’s wrong” with WWE before the Intercontinental Champion continues to try and bully “The Lunatic Fringe”. Owens would then try to cheap shot the injured Ambrose, but Ambrose would counter before grabbing the steel chair and delivering a shot to the back of the Intercontinental Champion! Owens is then quick to retreat up the ramp as Ambrose challenges Owens to a one-on-one match right now. Owens then walks up the ramp to the back, leaving Dean Ambrose in the ring. The opening match of the night would be a tag team match as The Usos would face League of Nations members Sheamus & Rusev, with King Barrett & Alberto Del Rio in their corner. In the end, some outside assistance from King Barrett & Alberto Del Rio would allow Sheamus to blast Jimmy Uso with the Brogue Kick, pinning Jimmy to pick up the win for himself and Rusev. After the match, The Dudley Boyz would come to the ring with a table in hand to prey on The Usos as Bubba Ray & D-Von would take Jey Uso out before setting up a table in the ring. Bubba Ray then levels Jimmy Uso with a big boot to the face before D-Von flips the table over, leaving The Usos laid out. In a rematch from RAW, SmackDown would see “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler square off with the self-proclaimed “A-Lister” The Miz. In a quick match, Dolph Ziggler would get a measure of revenge for his quick loss on RAW as Dolph traps Miz with a backslide, keeping Miz down for the three-count to pick up the win. After their #1 Contender’s match ended in a Draw on RAW, “The Boss” Sasha Banks would go one-on-one with “The Irish Lass Kicker” Becky Lynch one more time with the winner earning a Divas Title match against reigning champion Charlotte at WrestleMania. During a competitive, back-and-forth match, Divas Champion Charlotte, along with her father Ric Flair, would decide to make their way to ringside, sitting at ringside as the match continues. Later on in the match, Sasha and Becky would knock each other to the outside before they take each other out with a clothesline. This is when Ric Flair would inexplicably get up from his char to “woo” in the faces of both Sasha and Becky and, when the two Divas get to their feet to confront “The Nature Boy”, Charlotte would strike, blasting both Sasha and Becky from behind, bringing an end to the match. The Divas Champion would then take turns attacking both Sasha and Becky before throwing Becky into the barricade. Charlotte then picks Sasha up and delivers an exploder suplex on the arena floor before Charlotte picks up her Divas Title belt and walks off with her father in tow. Backstage, Divas Champion Charlotte and Ric Flair are questioned about their involvement in the #1 Contender’s match and Charlotte explains that she has beaten Becky Lynch twice and Sasha Banks has done nothing to earn a title shot. When the Divas Champion mocks interviewer Renee Young and says that Renee is supposed to be the one to get the “scoop”, Renee reveals that she has already done just that. Renee then informs the grinning champion that she won’t be facing either Becky Lynch or Sasha Banks at WrestleMania because she will be facing both of them in a Triple Threat Match for the Divas Championship! Renee then asks for comment from Charlotte and her father, but the smile was gone from Charlotte’s face as the champion walks away, visibly worried about losing her Divas Championship at WrestleMania. Before Y2AJ challenges The New Day for the WWE Tag Team Titles this coming Monday night on RAW, members of the respective teams would face off on SmackDown as “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles would go one-on-one with WWE Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston, with Big E & Xavier Woods in his corner. During the match, the referee would catch Xavier Woods about to hit AJ Styles with the trombone on the outside and, as a result, the referee would eject both Big E & Xavier Woods from ringside. This would draw the attention of Kofi Kingston and Styles would take advantage with a flying forearm to the face, pinning Kofi to pick up the win. After the match, Big E & Xavier Woods would fail to catch the lightning quick AJ Styles as “The Phenomenal One” escapes the grasp of The New Day. Following a confrontation earlier in the night, the main event of the night would see “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose square off with Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens in a non-title match. Throughout the match, Kevin Owens would repeatedly target the injured upper body of Dean Ambrose, but “The Lunatic Fringe” would somehow manage to keep fighting back. However, Ambrose’s refusal to give up would enrage Kevin Owens and, during the match, Owens’ frustration would show as Owens would send Ambrose back first into the ring apron on the outside before exposing the announce table. While Owens is doing this, Ambrose makes his way back into the ring and the Intercontinental Champion follows “The Lunatic Fringe”. Back in the ring, Owens would go for a senton on Ambrose, but Ambrose would get his knees up before planting the Intercontinental Champion with Dirty Deeds, pinning Kevin Owens to pick up a grueling win.
