WWE SmackDown Results: March 24, 2016By Cassidy| March 25, 2016 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results SmackDown kicks off with Divas action as, ten nights before Charlotte defends the Divas Championship against both Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch in a Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania, Divas Champion Charlotte, with her father Ric Flair in her corner, would go one-on-one with Boston’s own “The Boss” Sasha Banks in a non-title match with Becky Lynch a guest on commentary. During the match, both Charlotte and Sasha would find themselves on the outside of the ring and the Divas Champion would take this opportunity to shove Sasha into Becky Lynch at ringside, sparking a confrontation between Sasha and Becky with “The Boss” shoving Becky before re-entering the ring. However, Charlotte’s plan would backfire as, when Charlotte goes for the Figure-Eight, Sasha counters into a roll-up, scoring the three-count to pick up the win over the Divas Champion. After the match, there would be no time for celebration as Becky Lynch would enter the ring, delivering an exploder suplex to Sasha before delivering one to the Divas Champion! Becky would then storm out of the ring as Sasha is the first back to her feet in the ring as “The Boss” hits Charlotte with the Back Stabber, leaving Sasha Banks standing tall in her hometown, having picked some major momentum with WrestleMania a little over a week away. Before they square off with The League of Nations in a 4-on-3 Match at WrestleMania, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day were on SmackDown as Kofi Kingston, with Big E & Xavier Woods in his corner, would go one-on-one with League of Nations member Sheamus, with Rusev & King Barrett in his corner. During the match, Kofi Kingston would go for the pin on Sheamus, but Rusev would put Sheamus’ foot on the bottom rope. This would bring Big E & Xavier Woods over to keep Rusev at bay, but while this is going on, King Barrett gets on the ring apron, distracting Kofi long enough for Sheamus to take advantage, blasting Kofi with the Brogue Kick, pinning Kofi for the win. With a match against The Dudley Boyz coming up a week from Sunday at WrestleMania, The Usos would face The Ascension on SmackDown. It was a quick victory for The Usos as the twin brothers would take out Konnor with a double super kick before hitting a double super kick on Viktor with Jimmy Uso pinning Viktor for the win. After the match, The Usos would look to send a message to The Dudley Boyz as Jimmy & Jey set up two tables in the ring, placing each member of The Ascension on a table. Jimmy & Jey then soar off of the top rope with a double Uso Splash to Konnor & Viktor, putting The Ascension through the tables! After watching The Usos put The Ascension through tables, The Dudley Boyz were interviewed backstage about their WrestleMania opponents, talking about how they’ve beat The Usos’ father Rikishi and how they could beat The Wild Samoans if they wanted. However, the interview is then interrupted by the son of Wild Samoan Sika, Roman Reigns, who was not amused by what Bubba Ray Dudley had to say. Roman then says he doesn’t want a match with Bubba Ray tonight, he wants a “fight”. Before they are a part of a seven-man Ladder Match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania, Dolph Ziggler would team with Sami Zayn to face Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens and The Miz in tag team action. During the match, in what has become a regular occurrence for Kevin Owens, the Intercontinental Champion would refuse to enter the ring and battle Sami Zayn, instead dropping off of the apron with the intention of walking out on The Miz like he did a few weeks ago. However, The Miz would have none of it and the tag partners would argue on the outside before Sami Zayn decided he’d had enough as Sami would dive at Owens and The Miz, taking both men out! Zayn would then get his hands on Owens, pummeling the Intercontinental Champion before bringing Owens into the ring. Despite their obvious disdain for each other, Kevin Owens and The Miz would manage to work as a coherent team for much of the match until Kevin Owens again decides to abandon The Miz, refusing to tag into the match. However, while the Intercontinental Champion would again try to walk away from the match, the other three participants in the Ladder Match at WrestleMania would intervene as Stardust, Sin Cara, & Zack Ryder would come out, blocking Owens’ exit. Owens’ own tag partner The Miz would then exit the ring to attack Owens, rolling Owens back into the ring. Dolph Ziggler would then hit a super kick on Owens and The Miz would hit the Skull Crushing Finale on the Intercontinental Champion. The Miz would then turn right around into a super kick from Dolph, followed up with the Helluva Kick from Sami Zayn, who pins The Miz to pick up the win for his team in a chaotic match. After the match, Stardust would enter the ring, taking Dolph out of the ring before hitting the Queen’s Crossbow on Sami Zayn! Sin Cara then enters the fray, taking Stardust down with a springboard moonsault before Zack Ryder enters the fray only to get kicked to the floor by Sin Cara. Sin Cara then turns right around into a super kick from Dolph Ziggler before Kevin Owens emerges with a Pop-Up Powerbomb to “The Show Off” in the center of the ring. However, it would not be the Intercontinental Champion who would fire the final shot as Zack Ryder would catch Kevin Owens with the Rough Ryder as Ryder surprises everyone by being the last man standing in the ring! Following a confrontation earlier in the night, the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania was in action on SmackDown as Roman Reigns would go one-on-one with Bubba Ray Dudley. Much like Roman eluded to earlier in the night, the match would devolve into a fight with both Reigns and Bubba Ray fighting on the outside and, in a clear message to his WrestleMania opponent Triple H, Roman would repeatedly bounce Bubba Ray’s face off of the announce table, resulting in Roman Reigns getting disqualified. Reigns then sends Bubba Ray shoulder-first into the steel steps, rolling Bubba Ray back into the ring. This is when Bubba Ray’s tag partner D-Von would rush out to try and make the save, but Roman would see D-Von coming and would leap off of the steel steps with a Superman Punch, taking D-Von out! Roman then picks up the steel steps, driving the steps into the shoulder of D-Von before heading back into the ring and dropping Bubba Ray with the Spear! Roman Reigns then walks to the back, having single-handedly laid waste to The Dudley Boyz. After challenging Chris Jericho a match at WrestleMania, “The Phenomenal One” was in action on SmackDown as AJ Styles would go one-on-one with Tyler Breeze. In the end, it was AJ Styles scoring with the Phenomenal Forearm to the face of Tyler Breeze, pinning “Prince Pretty” for the win. After being dared to appear on SmackDown ten nights ahead of their No Holds Barred Street Fight at WrestleMania by Dean Ambrose last week, “The Beast” would be on SmackDown as Brock Lesnar, with Paul Heyman in tow, would make his way to the ring. Heyman says that Brock Lesnar brings a “WrestleMania moment” every time he competes at WrestleMania before Heyman lays out the rules, or lack thereof, for the No Holds Barred Street Fight at WrestleMania. Heyman says that Dean Ambrose can use any weapon he wants against Brock Lesnar, including the ‘gifts’ he’s received from Mick Foley and Terry Funk in recent weeks. Heyman then comments that the only reason that Foley and Funk are still “alive” is because God refuses to answer his prayers on a “daily basis”. Heyman continues, saying that anything that Ambrose can use in the match can be used by Brock Lesnar as well. Heyman then says that the “most dangerous weapon” ever implemented in WWE is Brock Lesnar himself before the advocate says that Brock Lesnar wants a fight right here, right now. Unexpectedly, Brock Lesnar doesn’t get Dean Ambrose as The Wyatt Family instead make their way to the ring as Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan, & Braun Strowman surround “The Beast”. Then, as Dean Ambrose’s music plays, Brock Lesnar decides to strike first, knocking Braun Strowman off of the ring apron before delivering a suplex to Erick Rowan. As Strowman comes back into the ring and levels Brock with a clothesline, Dean Ambrose comes out with kendo stick in hand, using the weapon on Bray Wyatt as Lesnar escapes the grasp of Strowman in the ring, delivering a ring-rattling suplex to the mastodon of The Wyatt Family! Ambrose then enters the ring, getting a few shots on Lesnar with the kendo stick before “The Beast” fights back, using the kendo stick himself before snapping the stick in half and planting “The Lunatic Fringe” in the middle of the ring with the F-5! Brock Lesnar then glares at the WrestleMania sign before exiting the ring, having left his WrestleMania adversary laid out in the ring. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown?
