WWE SmackDown Results: February 25, 2016By Cassidy| February 26, 2016 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results After beating his WrestleMania opponent Roman Reigns’ face to a bloody pulp, resulting in Roman undergoing facial reconstruction surgery, SmackDown kicks off with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H. The champion says that, depending on who you ask, he may be the “devil”, saying that, after RAW, there is “no doubt” in Roman’s mind as to who he is. After replaying the vicious assault from RAW, Triple H shows photos of Roman Reigns before and after his nasal reconstruction surgery. Triple H continues, saying he is the “law” and he is the “authority” and he is no stranger to rebelling against authority, but you “can’t beat authority”. The champion then says that the fans wake up every morning and they want to “buck the system”, but they don’t, they just bow their heads and do their jobs and they know their place. Triple H continues, saying that, if you meet him, then have some “courtesy” or he will lay their “soul to waste”, saying that Roman Reigns wants to be the WWE World Heavyweight Champion more than anything in the world. Triple H then says that it takes “blood, sweat, and tears” to be the champion, saying that Roman works hard and has the “sweat” portion of the equation before pulling the tape he wore on his hands on RAW that are covered in the dried blood of Roman Reigns, saying that he’s got the “blood covered”. After dropping the bloody garments on the mat, Triple H says that he’s got the blood and the sweat of Roman Reigns and he will get the tears at WrestleMania when he “humbles” Roman. Triple H then says that he will get Roman’s “tears” and there is nothing that Reigns can do about it because he is the “authority”, he is “The Game”, he is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and he is “that damn good”. The opening match of the night would be an 8-Man Tag match as “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler would team with “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville and The Lucha Dragons to face all four members of The League of Nations on SmackDown. The match would almost immediately break down as all eight Superstars brawl in and out of the ring with King Barrett nearly getting the quick win over Dolph Ziggler among the chaos, but order would eventually be restored. At the end of a wild match, it was Sheamus delivering the final blow with the Brogue Kick to Neville, pinning the high flyer to pick up the win for The League of Nations. In a backstage interview from earlier in the day, Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens comments that he was “inspired” by the actions of Dean Ambrose on RAW when he took a beating from Brock Lesnar before commandeering an ambulance and coming back to try and fight Brock again. Owens then says that he is offering Ambrose his rematch for the Intercontinental Championship, but when Renee Young informs the champion that Ambrose is not in the arena, Owens says that, since he’s beaten everyone, then he can take a night off too. However, a giant hand is then placed on the shoulder of the champion as Big Show tells Owens that Owens hasn’t beaten him yet. Owens says that this is the “road to KO-Mania” and Big Show is looking for the “road to retirement”. Big Show laughs sarcastically at Owens’ remarks before grabbing the Intercontinental Champion by the shirt, calling Owens a “snarky piece of trash” before suggesting that he “KO’s KO”. Big Show then reveals that he and Kevin Owens have a match against each other on SmackDown! After The Dudley Boyz put The Usos through tables a couple of weeks ago on RAW, these two teams would be on SmackDown as Jimmy Uso, with Jey Uso in his corner, would go one-on-one with D-Von Dudley, with Bubba Ray Dudley in his corner. During the match, Bubba Ray would pull a table out from under the ring, using it to distract both Jey Uso and the referee before Bubba Ray knocks Jimmy Uso off of the top rope and D-Von rolls Jimmy up for the win. Following a successful title defense against Dolph Ziggler at Fastlane, the Intercontinental Champion would have his work cut out for him on SmackDown as Kevin Owens would go one-on-one with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show in a non-title match. During the match, Kevin Owens would try his best to chop down the giant, but Big Show would fight back, scoring with a big chokeslam to the champion. However, Owens would manage to roll out of the ring to save himself before both men would find themselves battling on the second rope. Then, when Big Show steps up to the top rope, Owens picks his spot, taking Big Show’s legs out from under him as the giant racks himself on the top rope before falling to the outside. Big Show is then unable to get back into the ring by the referee’s count of ten as Kevin Owens is even surprised as he picks up the count-out victory. Owens is then quick to grab his Intercontinental Title belt and flee the ring, having survived “The World’s Largest Athlete” for the time being. With a match against Sasha Banks to determine the #1 Contender for the Divas Championship at WrestleMania coming up at an unknown date, Becky Lynch was in action on SmackDown as “The Irish Lass Kicker” would square off with Natalya. During the match, Natalya would knock Becky Lynch to the outside and this is when Naomi & Tamina would come out. Naomi & Tamina would stand by as Natalya puts Becky back in the ring, but when Natalya turns her back, Naomi & Tamina attack Natalya with Tamina dropping Natalya with a super kick, ending the match by disqualification. Naomi & Tamina then enter the ring with their sights set up Becky Lynch, but Sasha Banks is quick to make the save as Sasha & Becky send Naomi & Tamina out of the ring. This brings out Divas Champion Charlotte and her father Ric Flair as Charlotte informs Sasha and Becky that the #1 Contender’s match between Sasha and Becky will take place this coming Monday night on RAW, saying that she will have a front row seat to see who she will be defending the title against at WrestleMania. After Goldust inadvertently cost him a match against Curtis Axel at Fastlane, R-Truth was set to go one-on-one with another member of The Social Outcasts in Heath Slater, with Adam Rose, Bo Dallas, & Curtis Axel in his corner. However, before the match begins, Goldust comes out to ringside, sparking “Golden Truth” chants from the crowd before the match officially gets underway with R-Truth reluctantly letting Goldust be in his corner. During the match, R-Truth would knock Adam Rose off of the ring apron before Bo Dallas gets on the ring apron. This distracts the referee and it allows Goldust to assist R-Truth, slapping Heath Slater before R-Truth uses a backslide to pin Slater to pick up the win. After the match, R-Truth appeared pleased with the assist from Goldust, possibly bringing the two one step closer to forming their unlikely tag team. Then it was time for the main event as the newly formed tag team of AJ Styles & Chris Jericho, known collectively as Y2AJ, would team with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry to face WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day in a 6-Man Tag match. In the end, it came down to AJ Styles and Xavier Woods as “The Phenomenal One” locks in the Calf Crusher, making Xavier tap out to pick up the win for his team. After the match, Y2AJ & Mark Henry celebrate in the ring while Big E & Kofi Kingston tend to a hurt Xavier Woods on the outside. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown?
