WWE RAW Results: February 8, 2016By Cassidy| February 9, 2016 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results On a night where Daniel Bryan would officially announce his retirement, one of Bryan’s biggest detractors kicks off RAW as WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon is in the ring for the official contract signing for the Triple Threat Match at Fastlane. Amidst boos and chants of “Daniel Bryan” from the Seattle crowd, Stephanie would remind everyone of what is at stake at Fastlane as the winner of the Triple Threat Match will challenge Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania. However, Stephanie is then interrupted by one of the three participants in the Triple Threat Match as Intercontinental Champion Dean Ambrose makes his way to the ring. Urging Stephanie to get on with it, Ambrose says that he wants a piece of Brock Lesnar after “The Beast” laid him out with an F-5 on last week’s RAW, but Stephanie tells the Intercontinental Champion that she is in charge and there will be “no physicality” during the contract signing. Stephanie is then interrupted for a second time, this time by Roman Reigns, who joins Ambrose and Stephanie in the ring. Roman also insists that they get the contract signing over with and Stephanie points out how Reigns always seems to interrupt Ambrose’s moment. Stephanie then finally introduces Brock Lesnar as “The Beast” makes his way to the ring with his advocate Paul Heyman in tow. Heyman begins his trademark introduction, but Stephanie cuts Heyman off, saying that everyone is in such a hurry to get the contract signed, so they should get it done. It doesn’t take long for Reigns, Ambrose, & Lesnar to all sign the contract before Stephanie decides to take her leave, making a quick exit as things appear ready to explode in the ring. Paul Heyman then addresses Dean Ambrose as “little brother”, suggesting that Ambrose ask “big brother” Roman Reigns what the difference is between a beatdown from The Authority and an “authoritative beatdown” at the hands of Brock Lesnar. Heyman then steps out of the ring as Brock smiles at his two Fastlane opponents, daring both Ambrose and Reigns to fight him. Never one to back down from a fight, Ambrose is the first to go toe-to-toe with “The Beast” and Brock is quick to toss the Intercontinental Champion over the table in the ring into Roman Reigns before Lesnar picks up the table and slams into Roman’s face! “The Beast” then picks Dean Ambrose up and, just like last week, Brock plants the Intercontinental Champion in the center of the ring with the F-5! Having laid out his Fastlane opposition, Brock slides out of the ring as things get even more interesting with the arrival of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Triple H. This quickly gets the attention of “The Beast” as Brock Lesnar turns to glare at the champion as Triple H holds what all three Triple Threat Match participants want come WrestleMania, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. In their continuing, back-and-forth rivalry, the opening match of the night would see “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler square off with the self-proclaimed “Prize Fighter” Kevin Owens. During the match, Kevin Owens would nearly cheat his way to victory when he rolls Dolph Ziggler up and hooks the tights, but Dolph would kick out moments before Ziggler hits a modified version of his Famouser on Owens, sending Owens face-first onto the floor on the outside! Kevin Owens would battle back in the match, but when Owens goes for his Cannonball maneuver in the corner, Dolph would move out of the way before pouncing on Owens, holding Owens down to the mat before putting his feet on the ropes behind the referee’s back, using the illegal advantage to pick up the win! After the match, as Dolph celebrated with the fans, Kevin Owens was livid as Owens would throw another fit at ringside, throwing papers and making a mess of the announce table before storming to the back. Backstage, The Usos are confronted by The Dudley Boyz as Bubba Ray & D-Von suggest to the twin brothers that they can’t have their scheduled Tables Match against The New Day without the team who’s synonymous with tables. The Dudley Boyz then suggest to The Usos that they team up to combat The New Day together! The Usos respond by saying that, if they can get it approved, then they are all for it. Less than two weeks before she defends the Divas Title against Brie Bella at Fastlane, the Divas Champion was in action on RAW as Charlotte, with her father Ric Flair in her corner, would face Alicia Fox in a non-title match. In the end, it was Charlotte locking on the Figure-Eight, making Alicia Fox tap out to pick up the win. The Miz would then be in the ring for Miz TV as the self-proclaimed “A-Lister” would welcome his guest “Y2J” Chris Jericho. Before bringing out his guest, The Miz would address what happened to him at the hands of AJ Styles last week when AJ pummeled The Miz on his own show. After watching the footage, The Miz says that he offered to take that “redneck rookie” to the top of WWE before saying that he could have done the same for AJ Styles’ career that he did for Daniel Bryan’s career. The Miz’s tirade is then interrupted by his guest as six-time former World Champion Chris Jericho makes his way to the ring as Jericho prepares to face AJ Styles on SmackDown. Jericho says that The Miz gave him a tremendous introduction except for the part where he forgot to mention Jericho’s name or say anything entertaining. The Miz begins to speak, but Jericho urges Miz to “please shut the hell up”, saying that the fans in Seattle don’t want to see Miz TV, they want to see The Highlight Reel. Despite The Miz’s protests, the WWE crew is quick to lower the JeriTron and roll out a different carpet, transforming Miz TV into The Highlight Reel in a matter of moments! The Miz then shouts that “none of this is right” and Chris Jericho agrees, asking for the wooden stool and potted plant that was given to him by Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. Jericho then reminds The Miz of his two run-ins with AJ Styles last week and shows footage of The Miz’s match with Styles on SmackDown where AJ literally knocked two of The Miz’s teeth out! The Miz then says that it cost him $10,000 per tooth to fix his “moneymaker” and, if it wasn’t for his team of “celebrity dentists”, WWE might have lost its “resident matinee idol”. The Miz then catches Chris Jericho laughing at his displeasure before The Miz tells Jericho that what he thinks is funny is that he wasn’t the only one who was “upstaged” by AJ Styles as The Miz shows footage from the match between Styles and Jericho from two weeks ago where Styles pinned Jericho. Jericho admits that his loss to Styles has been eating him alive and he hasn’t stopped thinking about it, asking if AJ Styles has what it takes to beat Chris Jericho twice. Jericho then says that he’s going to remind AJ on SmackDown that he is the “best in the world” at what he does. This brings out “The Phenomenal One” himself as AJ Styles comes out, but as soon as Jericho turns his attention to AJ, The Miz attacks “Y2J” from behind! The Miz would put the boots to Jericho, but it’s AJ Styles who makes the save as AJ pummels The Miz before sending Miz right into a clothesline from Jericho. Styles and Jericho then work together to toss The Miz out of the ring before AJ and Jericho go face-to-face with each other before the confrontation turns into a fight, but the fight would barely get started before The Miz pulls Jericho out of the ring. However, Jericho would respond by tossing The Miz over the announce table before “Y2J” gets on the ring apron as the two veterans continue to stare each other down. Jericho then walks away from AJ Styles, saving the fight for SmackDown as Styles stands tall in the ring. After The Wyatt Family took out both Kane and Big Show in recent weeks, “The Big Guy” would be looking to take down The Wyatt Family as Ryback would go one-on-one with the leader of The Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt, with Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, & Braun Strowman in his corner. During the match, Ryback would seemingly have things well in hand, but when “The Big Guy” goes for the Meat Hook Clothesline, Bray Wyatt catches Ryback, hitting Sister Abigail and pinning Ryback for the win. After the match, all four members of The Wyatt Family would surround Ryback as they swarm “The Big Guy” before Erick Rowan plants Ryback with a huge slam. Luke Harper then delivers the Discus Clothesline to Ryback before Braun Strowman brings Ryback to the outside at the orders of Bray Wyatt. Strowman then tosses Ryback into the steel steps before Rowan & Strowman feed Ryback to Bray Wyatt as Bray plants Ryback with Sister Abigail on the arena floor. Bray then screams that there is nothing left for them to do but “pray” that they show “mercy”, but they will receive none. Bray then asks “can you feel it?” before kneeling next to Ryback, saying “follow the buzzards”. The Social Outcasts were on RAW as Adam Rose, with Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, & Curtis Axel in his corner, would go one-on-one with Titus O’Neil. During the match, Adam Rose’s Social Outcast teammates would pull Rose out of the ring and Titus would jump out of the ring to plow through the group before bringing Rose back into the ring. Heath Slater would then get on the ring apron, distracting Titus long enough for Adam Rose to take advantage, rolling Titus up to pick up the upset victory. After being dropped with another F-5 by Brock Lesnar earlier in the night, Dean Ambrose was insistent on picking a fight with “The Beast” as the Intercontinental Champion would come out to the ring, looking for a fight. Ambrose taunts Lesnar by saying that Brock can’t keep him down and Lesnar can’t “get the job done” before the Intercontinental Champion calls out “The Beast”. However, when Brock doesn’t show up, Ambrose echoes what Triple H had to say last week, suggesting that Suplex City has gone “soft”. The Intercontinental Champion then says that Lesnar “can’t get it up for the big fight”, but “The Beast” still doesn’t show up so Ambrose continues to taunt Brock, saying that Paul Heyman must have not given Brock “permission” to go to the ring. Ambrose then says that he knew that Heyman was Lesnar’s advocate, but he didn’t know that Heyman was required to hold Brock’s “balls”! The Intercontinental Champion would then get his wish as Brock Lesnar, along with Paul Heyman, would saunter down to the ring with a smile on his face, apparently amused by Dean Ambrose. Dean Ambrose would then hop out of the ring, pouncing on Brock Lesnar, but “The Beast” would dominate the Intercontinental Champion, driving Ambrose into the ring apron before tossing Ambrose into the barricade. Brock then tosses Ambrose into the ring, sizing the Intercontinental Champion up before dropping him with a clothesline. However, Ambrose would use the ropes to pull himself to his feet and Lesnar would respond with another clothesline. The Intercontinental Champion then actually crawls towards “The Beast” and Brock picks Ambrose up, dropping Ambrose with the F-5! Lesnar then exits the ring, but Ambrose would somehow recover enough to beckon Brock back to the ring. However, before “The Beast” could do anymore damage to the Intercontinental Champion, Roman Reigns would come out to the stage, which draws Brock’s attention. With Lesnar’s attention on Reigns, Ambrose would spot his opening as “The Lunatic Fringe” uses a low blow to topple “The Beast” before exiting the ring, regrouping with Roman Reigns. With a title defense against Alberto Del Rio coming up at Fastlane, United States Champion Kalisto would reunite with the previously injured Sin Cara as The Lucha Dragons would face The League of Nations’ Rusev & Alberto Del Rio, with King Barrett in their corner. During the match, a distraction from King Barrett would provide an opening for Alberto Del Rio as Del Rio scores with the double stomp off of the top rope, pinning Kalisto to pick up the win for himself and Rusev. After forming an alliance with Becky Lynch to combat Naomi & Tamina, Sasha Banks would be a guest on commentary as Becky Lynch would go one-on-one with Tamina, with Naomi in her corner. Throughout the match, Naomi would repeatedly get involved on Tamina’s behalf, but Sasha Banks would not budge, opting to let Becky Lynch handle things on her own. However, when Tamina takes issue with Sasha, “The Boss” would get out of her seat, but this would prove to be a ploy by Sasha’s former friends as Naomi would blindside Sasha with a vicious forearm before sending Sasha into the steel steps. Despite having the advantage in the match, Becky Lynch would jump out of the ring, suplexing Naomi on the floor. Becky then has a moment of indecision before she heads back into the ring, but Tamina was waiting as Tamina blasts Becky with a super kick, pinning Becky for the win. After suggesting they join The Usos in their scheduled Tables Match against The New Day, The Dudley Boyz would get their wish as Bubba Ray & D-Von would team with The Usos to face WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day and their hand-picked partner “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry in an 8-Man Tag Team Tables Match, where the only way for a team to win is to put a member of the opposing team through a table! The match would start in a hurry as all eight competitors would brawl in the ring with The Usos & The Dudley Boyz getting the better of the opposition in the early going. The New Day & Mark Henry would get the better of The Usos & The Dudley Boyz a bit later on in the match, but the WWE Tag Team Champions would make a big mistake by telling Mark Henry to get a table as “The World’s Strongest Man” takes offense to this and walks out on the match as a result! This leaves The New Day at the mercy of The Usos & The Dudley Boyz before The Usos place Xavier Woods on a table, but Big E would make the save before The Dudley Boyz intervene, putting Big E through a table with the 3-D to pick up the win for The Usos & The Dudley Boyz. After the match, Jimmy Uso and D-Von would tend to Jey Uso who had apparently tweaked his knee during the match, helping Jey to his feet as Bubba Ray shouts at The New Day to come back and fight. However, this would open the door for an attack that The Usos could not have seen coming as Bubba Ray blindsides Jimmy Uso, taking Jimmy down, leaving the injured Jey Uso all alone with The Dudley Boyz as D-Von levels Jey with a clothesline. Bubba Ray then sets a table up in the ring before The Dudley Boyz put Jimmy Uso through the table with the 3-D! D-Von then brings another table in the ring before lifting Jey Uso up to Bubba Ray, who powerbombs Jey through the table! Bubba Ray then stands over Jey Uso, shouting that The Dudley Boyz are the “baddest tag team on the planet”. Then it was time for an emotional goodbye to one of the greatest and most popular Superstars of all-time as, after nearly two decades in the wrestling business, the unparalleled and incomparable Daniel Bryan would make a very special appearance on RAW to officially announce his retirement from WWE in his home state of Washington. With tears in his eyes, Daniel Bryan would lead a “yes” chant throughout the arena as the four-time former World Champion makes his way to the ring to a standing ovation from the crowd in Seattle. The emotional Daniel Bryan would soak in the deafening “Daniel Bryan” and “yes” chants from the crowd before saying that he was able to close his eyes and “feel” the response from the crowd. Bryan first mentions that he donated his trimmed hair to the Wigs For Kids organization before getting down to the business at hand. Bryan says that he’s been wrestling since he was eighteen years old and, in the first five months of his career, he had already had three concussions. Bryan continues, saying that he accumulated more and more concussions over his sixteen year career, saying that it gets to a point where they tell you that you can’t wrestle anymore. Bryan then says that, for a long time, he fought that because he had gotten tests done that said he was fine. Bryan says that he would train and be ready at a moment’s notice for WWE to call him back to wrestle, saying that he loves wrestling more than anything else. This sparks chants of “Thank You Daniel” before Daniel Bryan continues, saying that more recent testing has shown that his brain may not be as okay as he thought. Bryan then says that he’s got a family to think about, saying that he and his wife want to start having kids soon. Bryan then officially announces his retirement before saying that he’s went through various emotions leading up to this moment, but when he woke up this morning, the only feeling he had was “gratitude”. Bryan then says that their reaction to his entrance brings him joy each and every time before saying that he loves to dive out of the ring and it makes him feel like Superman. Bryan continues, saying that he’s wrestled in gas station parking lots and in front of 70,000 fans. Bryan then says that he’s gotten to meet someone who looks like a monster but is the smartest man he knows in Kane and he’s gotten to meet a man who has been his mentor and friend for over sixteen years in William Regal. Bryan continues, saying that he’s met children who are stronger than he could ever be before saying that they wrestle because they love to wrestle. Bryan then says that he wrestles because he loves it but then the fans got behind him in a way that he never imagined. Bryan continues, saying that he is “grateful” that, a little over two years ago in that very arena, the fans hijacked RAW in the middle of a coronation ceremony to combine the WWE and World Heavyweight Championships and they had all the former champions out there to make it the biggest moment in WWE history, but the fans just wouldn’t stop chanting “Daniel Bryan”. Bryan then says that’s not why he’s grateful before saying that his late father was in attendance that night to see just how beloved his son is. Bryan continues, saying that wrestling has allowed him to meet his wife before saying that, tomorrow morning, he will start a “new life” where he is no longer a wrestler, but that is tomorrow and this is tonight. Bryan then says that he’s got one more night to feel the energy from the crowd before asking for one more “yes” chant and the crowd complies as Daniel Bryan leads the crowd in one final “yes” chant, closing out an unparalleled career in WWE. After RAW goes off the air, the celebration of Daniel Bryan’s career would continue as Bryan is joined by his wife, Brie Bella, before the stage begins to fill up with WWE talent as WWE Chairman Mr. McMahon, WWE COO Triple H, WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, The New Day, The Lucha Dragons, Rusev, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, The Dudley Boyz, Mark Henry, Dolph Ziggler, Becky Lynch, & Sasha Banks, among others, come out to celebrate Daniel Bryan, joining the fans in chanting “yes” as Bryan says goodbye to the fans and to the commentary team. Daniel Bryan is then joined by Brie on the entrance ramp as they chant “yes” together with the fans and the Superstars before Bryan hugs Mr. McMahon as the sea of talent parts to let Daniel Bryan make his walk to the back for the final time, putting a fitting end to such an outstanding career.
