WWE Fastlane 2016 ResultsBy Cassidy| February 22, 2016 WWE PPVs One More Time. The last major event on the Road to WrestleMania would paint a much clearer picture for “The Show of Shows” WrestleMania as the second annual WWE Fastlane came to you, live on the WWE Network, from the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, OH. After all three Superstars had stellar performances in the Royal Rumble Match where Roman Reigns made it to the final three in the match before being eliminated by Triple H and losing the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Dean Ambrose was the runner-up and made it all the way to the end before being eliminated by Triple H, and Brock Lesnar would dominate the field before The Wyatt Family teamed up to eliminate “The Beast” from the match, “The Beast” and the “brothers-in-arms” would have a second shot to make it to the main event of WrestleMania. In a Triple Threat Match, Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, & Brock Lesnar will wage war with the winner earning a main event spot at WrestleMania where they will challenge Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and, with a Triple Threat Match having no disqualifications and no count-outs, all hell could, and probably will, break loose, but who will walk out of Fastlane with a golden opportunity on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”? Will Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose be able to put their friendship aside to do whatever it takes to emerge victorious and, even if they do decide to work together, can the “brothers-in-arms” take Brock Lesnar out of the equation or is “The Beast” destined for a WrestleMania showdown with Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship that he was never pinned or made to submit for at last year’s WrestleMania? Since arriving on the scene as the #3 entrant in the Royal Rumble Match, independent wrestling legend AJ Styles has made an immediate impact in WWE, scoring a pinfall victory over six-time former World Champion Chris Jericho in his RAW debut. However, the proud veteran would refuse to let the loss go, continuing to keep a close eye on “The Phenomenal One” until their rematch on SmackDown a couple of weeks ago when “Y2J” handed AJ Styles his first loss in WWE. This would lead to Styles forcing Jericho into another rematch and this rubber match between the two accomplished competitors would take place at Fastlane. Can AJ Styles prove himself to Chris Jericho once and for all and show “Y2J” that he is worthy of the moniker “The Phenomenal One”? Over the last month, The Wyatt Family has set their sights on destroying who Bray Wyatt describes as the “titans” of WWE, beating down Kane, Big Show, and Ryback, respectively. However, what The Wyatt Family seemingly didn’t count on is that these titans would not stay down as Ryback, Kane, & Big Show would re-emerge on RAW this past Monday night, taking it to The Wyatt Family and, at Fastlane, this trio of big men will get their shot at revenge as “The Big Guy” Ryback would team with “The Big Red Machine” Kane and “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show to face Bray Wyatt’s Wyatt Family followers Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, & Braun Strowman in a 6-Man Tag match! After taking full advantage of a Fatal 5-Way match for the Intercontinental Championship set up by Stephanie McMahon this past Monday night on RAW to win the Intercontinental Championship for the second time in his career, it wouldn’t take long for Kevin Owens to be confronted by a familiar rival as, after trading victories with the self-proclaimed “Prize Fighter” in recent weeks, Dolph Ziggler would be the first Superstar to step up and challenge Kevin Owens for the prestigious title. While the new champion denied “The Show Off” the title shot, the self-proclaimed “Prize Fighter” will be forced to put his new prize on the line at Fastlane as Kevin Owens will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Dolph Ziggler. After severing her ties with Team B.A.D. cohorts Naomi & Tamina, Sasha Banks seemed poised to get her shot at the Divas Championship, but Naomi & Tamina would refuse to let Sasha strike out on her own and would beat down their former friend. This attack would pave the way for an unlikely alliance as longtime rival Becky Lynch would come to the aid of “The Boss”, helping Sasha fight back against Naomi & Tamina. Despite being far from friends, Sasha and Becky will have to work as a cohesive unit at Fastlane when the two NXT alumni join forces to face Naomi & Tamina in a tag team match. A few weeks ago, Brie Bella would score a non-title victory over Divas Champion Charlotte, earning herself a shot at the Divas Championship at Fastlane. However, this was before Brie’s husband Daniel Bryan announced his retirement from WWE. Using Brie’s husband to try and gain a mental edge over her Fastlane opponent, Charlotte would find herself at the mercy of an enraged Brie Bella and, with the top prize in the Divas division on the line at Fastlane, will Brie Bella’s emotions and disdain for Charlotte lead to a new Divas Champion or will Charlotte find a way to hang onto the title? Fastlane would also feature a special appearance by one of the most successful tag teams in WWE history as Edge & Christian would appear at the event to host their talk show segment, The Cutting Edge Peep Show, and their guests would be the trio they had a run with a few months ago, the WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day! What will happen when the current WWE Tag Team Champions are in the same ring with a team that has had multiple reigns as WWE Tag Team Champions in their illustrious careers?
