WWE SmackDown Results: December 22, 2015By Cassidy| December 23, 2015 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Super SmackDown LIVE kicks off with gold on the line as The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, would defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against The Lucha Dragons. In the end, Kalisto would hit the Salida del Sol on Big E, but before Sin Cara could come off of the top, Kofi Kingston would come back into the ring, distracting the referee. Xavier Woods would then try to hit Sin Cara with his trombone, but Sin Cara would dodge the shot. However, when Sin Cara goes for a springboard move to Big E, the big man catches Sin Cara and hits the high flyer with the Big Ending, pinning Sin Cara to pick up the win as The New Day successfully retains the WWE Tag Team Titles. In 8-Man Tag action, The Dudley Boyz would join forces with “The Big Guy” Ryback and “The Big Red Monster” Kane to face all four members of The Wyatt Family. At the end of a wild match, it was Erick Rowan taking Ryback over the barricade on the outside and Luke Harper blasting D-Von with a super kick. Bray Wyatt would then hit Bubba Ray with Sister Abigail, pinning Bubba Ray to pick up the win for The Wyatt Family. After being beat down by The League of Nations in the backstage area on RAW, The Usos would be looking for revenge as the 2015 Tag Team of the Year would face League of Nations representatives Rusev and United States Champion Alberto Del Rio, with Sheamus & King Barrett in their corner. In the end, a distraction from King Barrett would allow Rusev to deliver a kick to Jey Uso behind the referee’s back before Alberto Del Rio hits the double stomp off of the top rope, pinning Jey Uso to pick up the win for his team. After the match, The League of Nations would swarm Jimmy Uso as Rusev, Barrett, & Del Rio would hold Jimmy up for Sheamus, but Roman Reigns would come to the aid of his cousins as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion would take it to The League of Nations, tossing Sheamus over the announce table before dropping Alberto Del Rio with the Superman Punch in the ring. Jimmy Uso would then blast Rusev with a super kick, followed up with the Superman Punch from Reigns! Roman then stands tall with The Usos in the ring as The League of Nations regroups on the outside. After Stardust & The Ascension ruined Santino Marella’s Christmas party backstage earlier in the night, “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville would team with Titus O’Neil to face The Ascension, with Stardust in their corner. In the end, it was Neville hitting the Red Arrow, pinning Viktor to pick up the win for his team. With Becky Lynch a guest on commentary, the Divas Champion was in action on Super SmackDown LIVE as Charlotte would go one-on-one with Brie Bella in a non-title match. During the match, Team B.A.D. would come out in their best festive outfits as the trio of Divas would dump egg nog on the head of Becky Lynch! Becky would then respond by tackling Naomi, prompting Sasha Banks & Tamina to jump on Becky as Team B.A.D. beats Becky down. This temporarily halts the action in the ring as Charlotte sees her best friend getting beaten down, but instead of coming to Becky’s aid, the Divas Champion wraps Brie Bella up in the Figure-Eight, making Brie tap out to pick up the win. Charlotte then stands tall in the ring, holding her title belt high with a smile on her face. When Charlotte does finally leave the ring, the Divas Champion laughs at her drenched, supposed best friend, making a big joke about Becky’s humiliation. Then it was time for the main event as the prestigious Intercontinental Championship would be up for grabs as Dean Ambrose would put the gold on the line against former champion Kevin Owens and “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler in a Triple Threat match. The intense championship match would find its way up to the stage where Kevin Owens would toss Dolph Ziggler into the holiday decorations on the stage, throwing “The Show Off” into presents and Christmas trees before Owens bounces one of the presents off of Dean Ambrose’s back. Owens would then attempt to powerbomb Ambrose off of the stage, but Dolph would catch Owens with a super kick and, together, Ambrose and Ziggler would toss Owens off of the stage into a Christmas tree and a pile of presents! Later on in the match, Dolph Ziggler would lock in the sleeper hold on Kevin Owens, but Owens would use this to his advantage as Owens dives onto Ambrose with Ziggler on his back! Owens then tosses Dolph shoulder-first into the steel ring post before delivering a heinous-looking half nelson suplex as Ambrose lands awkwardly on his neck. Despite this, the fearless champion would continue to fight back, but when Ambrose looks for Dirty Deeds on Owens, Dolph re-enters the ring, scoring with the Zig Zag to Ambrose, but the champion would kick out. Dolph then knocks Owens out of the ring with a super kick, but this would end up costing Ziggler as Dolph would turn right around into Dirty Deeds from Dean Ambrose, who pins Dolph to successfully retain the Intercontinental Championship in a hellacious Triple Threat match.
