WWE RAW Results: August 31, 2015By Cassidy| September 1, 2015 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results One week after his surprising appearance during WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion Seth Rollins’ statue celebration where he took it to Rollins, earning himself a shot at Seth Rollins’ WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions, RAW kicks off with a rare appearance from “The Icon” Sting! Sting says that the last time he was in a WWE ring, it was at WrestleMania where he was pushed to his limits by Triple H, saying that he has nothing but “respect” for Triple H, but that was then and this is now. Sting then says that he’s got his sights set on Seth Rollins and, as good as Rollins is, he is not as good as Triple H, saying that, since WrestleMania, it has been one “injustice” after another as Rollins runs “roughshod” over the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as Rollins manages to hang onto the title. Sting continues, saying that Seth Rollins seems to think that he belongs in the same class as Bruno Sammartino, Andre The Giant, & The Ultimate Warrior, saying that Rollins is a “legend in his own mind”. Sting then says that he’s wrestled legends and won World Titles all over the world, but there is one that has eluded him his entire career and that is the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, saying that the “last chapter” of his career will be written at Night of Champions when he beats Seth Rollins and walks out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Sting then says that, at WrestleMania, Triple H was “man enough” to shake his hand after their match and, at Night of Champions, he is going to prove that Seth Rollins is not “half the man” that Triple H is, calling Rollins a “little boy” and saying that Rollins is living in his world now, saying that the champion is in for a “heck of a ride”! Backstage, an outraged WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion Seth Rollins is with WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon as Rollins says that, when he is in the ring, he is “better than anyone”. Stephanie says that what Sting said was that Rollins is not “half the man” that Triple H is and Stephanie agrees with Sting, saying that the champion is not half the man that her husband is, saying that “legends are built over time” and that Rollins will get there some day. The champion argues that they “build statues for legends”, asking where his statue is and Stephanie responds by suggesting that Rollins go ask Sting about his statue. The opening match of the night would be a rematch from SummerSlam as, after their initial encounter at “The Biggest Event of the Summer” ended in a double count-out, “The Show Off” Dolph Ziggler, with Lana in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, with Summer Rae in his corner. During the match, the action would spill to the outside with Rusev delivering a shot to the previously injured throat of Dolph Ziggler before charging at Dolph, who would move out of the way, sending Rusev shoulder-first into the steel steps. It would then look like their rematch might end in another double count-out, but Rusev made it back into the ring before Ziggler is able to slide in at the last second, keeping the match alive. This would send Rusev into a rage as “The Bulgarian Brute” delivers a vicious kick to the face of Dolph Ziggler before looking for the Accolade. However, Dolph would avoid the Accolade before hitting the Zig Zag on Rusev, but before Dolph can get the three-count, Summer Rae enters the ring, attacking Ziggler and ending the match by disqualification. This sparks a brawl in the ring between Lana and Summer Rae with Lana having to be pulled off of Summer Rae, getting one last kick in on Summer before Dolph and Lana exit the ring, sharing a kiss on the entrance ramp as an angry Rusev looks on. Backstage, Renee Young finishes up an interview with Dolph Ziggler before Dolph exits and heads into his locker room, but as Renee runs down some of the matches in store for tonight’s RAW, Summer Rae is spotted in the background sneaking into Dolph’s locker room. Before the first ever Divas Beat The Clock Challenge gets underway with one member of PCB, either Paige, Charlotte, or Becky Lynch, earning a shot at the Divas Championship at Night of Champions, Team Bella would make an appearance on RAW as Divas Champion Nikki Bella is flanked by Brie Bella and Alicia Fox. Nikki says that she wants to share every “historic moment in time” with the fans before asking the fans to help Team Bella count down “every precious moment” on her path to becoming the longest reigning Divas Champion of all-time. Nikki then presents the “Bella Tron”, which counts down the days, hours, minutes, and seconds until she becomes the longest reigning Divas Champion in history, showing that she is only a little over two weeks away from the major accomplishment. Then it was time for the first match in the first ever Divas Beat The Clock Challenge as PCB’s Becky Lynch, with teammates Paige and Charlotte in her corner, would go one-on-one with Team Bella’s Alicia Fox, with teammates Brie Bella and Divas Champion Nikki Bella in her corner, and, if Becky wins, the time she wins in will be the time for Paige and Charlotte to try and beat with the PCB member that gets the best time becoming the #1 Contender. In the end, it was Becky Lynch locking in the Dis-Arm-Her on Alicia Fox, making Alicia tap out to pick up the win and setting the time to beat at an impressive 3:21! Backstage, an interview with Intercontinental Champion Ryback is interrupted by screaming as Summer Rae is seen fleeing Dolph Ziggler’s locker room with Dolph, only wearing a towel, appearing to be confused and embarrassed. After coming up short in a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship at SummerSlam, “The World’s Largest Athlete” would get another shot at the gold as Big Show would challenge Ryback for the Intercontinental Championship on RAW with The Miz a guest on commentary. After a chokeslam fails to put Ryback away, Big Show would look for a move off of the top rope, but Ryback would toss Big Show off of the top rope before Big Show hits a big Spear on Ryback. This would still not keep Ryback down for the three-count and Big Show would size Ryback up for the Knockout Punch, but this is when The Miz would get involved, getting on the ring apron and distracting Big Show long enough for Ryback to take advantage as “The Big Guy” hits Shell Shocked, pinning Big Show to successfully retain the Intercontinental Title. After Becky Lynch set the time to beat at 3:21 moments earlier, her PCB teammate would try to beat Becky’s time as Charlotte, with Paige & Becky Lynch in her corner, would face Brie Bella, with Alicia Fox & Divas Champion Nikki Bella in her corner, with Charlotte having to win her match in less than 3:21 to advance in the Beat The Clock Challenge. In the end, it was Charlotte hitting a modified snapmare on Brie Bella, pinning Brie to pick up the win and setting a new time to beat of 1:40! In another rematch from SummerSlam, RAW would see “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro try and avenge his SummerSlam loss to “The Prizefighter” Kevin Owens as the two rivals would go one-on-one. In an incredible rematch between Cesaro and Kevin Owens, Owens would look for a tornado DDT on Cesaro, but “The Swiss Superman” would block the DDT and counter it into a slam, locking Owens in the Crossface, but Owens was narrowly able to get his foot on the bottom rope to break the hold. Shortly after this, Cesaro would look for a suplex to the outside, but Kevin Owens would counter, sending Cesaro off of the ring apron as Cesaro crashes ribs-first into the announce table. Cesaro would manage to make it back into the ring before the ten-count and would try for the Cesaro Swing, but the injured ribs of Cesaro would come into play and Owens would take advantage, scoring with the Pop-Up Powerbomb and pinning Cesaro for the win. Backstage, Dolph Ziggler is with a visibly upset Lana as Dolph explains why Summer Rae was in his locker room. Ziggler explains that he stepped out of the shower to find Summer Rae standing in his locker room with a big smile on her face and, as soon as he saw her, he grabbed a towel and told Summer to leave so she did, saying that was all that happened. Dolph says that Lana knows that nothing happened in there and Lana says that Summer saw Dolph naked, asking how Dolph thinks that makes her feel. Dolph says that Summer saw him naked for two seconds but that was it. A hurt Lana then exits, leaving a heartbroken Dolph Ziggler to try and figure out how to fix things. After Braun Strowman’s shocking debut as the newest member of The Wyatt Family on last week’s RAW where he single-handedly dismantled Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman would make his in-ring debut on RAW as “The Black Sheep”, with Bray Wyatt & Luke Harper in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose, with Roman Reigns in his corner. Braun Strowman would dominate Dean Ambrose throughout the match, even pummeling Ambrose on the outside, shoving Ambrose into Roman Reigns before Strowman decides to put his hands on Roman, shoving Reigns down with ease. However, Reigns would not take this lightly as Roman fights back, getting a couple of shots in on Strowman before “The Black Sheep” hurls Roman into the ringside barricade. Ambrose then jumps on Strowman, but Strowman tosses Ambrose over the announce table before tossing Roman into the timekeeper’s area. With Strowman’s back turned, Ambrose would jump onto Strowman’s back, trying to use a sleeper hold on the mastodon, but the huge Superstar tosses Ambrose to the floor before Strowman easily throws Reigns into the ring. Strowman then starts to choke Roman out just like he did last week when Ambrose enters the ring with a steel chair, smashing it into the back of Strowman, but the unstoppable Strowman is not fazed by the chair shot! Strowman then drops Ambrose with a headbutt before Roman is able to hobble the beast slightly with an uppercut before Luke Harper gets involved for the first time, blasting Roman with a super kick. Strowman then picks Ambrose up, choking “The Lunatic Fringe” out and tossing Ambrose to the side. At the instruction of Bray Wyatt, Braun Strowman would pick up Roman Reigns, hitting a huge slam on Roman. Bray Wyatt then enters the ring as Strowman feeds Roman to Bray, who hits Roman with Sister Abigail, kneeling next to Roman with his family behind him, screaming “follow the buzzards”. In a backstage interview, WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion Seth Rollins reveals that he intends to head to the ring later on in the evening and call out his Night of Champions opponent Sting! When asked about Sting’s comments about Rollins not being half the man that Triple H is, Rollins says that, back in his day, Triple H was the man and, now that he is the first Superstar to hold the WWE World Heavyweight and United States Titles at the same time, he is “the man”. In the final portion of the Divas Beat The Clock Challenge, PCB member Paige, with Charlotte & Becky Lynch in her corner, would square off with Team B.A.D. member Sasha Banks, with Naomi & Tamina in her corner, with the unenviable task of trying to win the match in less than 1:40. During the match, Paige looked like she was going to pull off the seemingly impossible after hitting the Ram Paige on Sasha Banks, but Sasha was too close to the ropes and her Team B.A.D. cohorts would take advantage, quickly pulling Sasha out of the ring with only 11 seconds remaining in the match! Paige would scramble to get Sasha Banks back in the ring before time expires, but with only a couple of seconds left, Paige would try for the PTO as timer reaches zero, meaning that Paige fails to beat the clock and Charlotte wins the Beat The Clock Challenge, earning herself a shot at the Divas Championship at Night of Champions. A heartbroken Paige would be consoled in the ring by Charlotte and Becky Lynch before Team Bella comes out to the stage as Nikki Bella holds the Divas Title high above her head as the Bella Tron counts down in the background. In a backstage interview, Summer Rae tells her side of the story regarding Dolph Ziggler, claiming that Dolph called her into his locker room with the promise of creating peace between himself, Lana, Rusev, & Summer. Summer then says that Dolph started getting undressed in front of her, saying that she was “mesmerized” and “speechless” before saying that Dolph asked her to join him the shower, saying that she will never forget the sight of the water on Dolph’s “glistening body”. Summer continues, saying that Dolph gave her “the look” and that is when she knew that Dolph was trying to “seduce” her. Summer then says that she ran out of the room screaming, but she will never forget seeing Dolph naked right in front of her. Lana is then asked for comment about Summer had to say, but Lana was in tears, refusing to speak on the subject. Before facing The Dudley Boyz in a non-title match on RAW, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day would reveal a table wrapped in bubble wrap, saying that it is the last table in the building and that they are going to protect it from those “table poachers”, The Dudley Boyz, before asking the fans to join them in clapping to support the “save the tables” movement. Following their shocking return on last week’s RAW, The Dudley Boyz would compete on RAW for the first time in ten years as Bubba Ray & D-Von would face two-thirds of the WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day, Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, in a non-title match with The Prime Time Players guests on commentary. In the end, it was The Dudley Boyz taking Xavier Woods out before hitting the 3-D on Kofi Kingston with D-Von pinning Kofi as The Dudley Boyz defeat the WWE Tag Team Champions. After the match, The Dudley Boyz would bring the bubble-wrapped table into the ring, tearing the bubble wrap off before nearly putting Big E through the table, but Kofi and Xavier would quickly pull Big E out of the ring, saving Big E from a table for the time being as The Dudley Boyz stand victorious in the ring. Still seething over Sting ruining his statue celebration last week, WWE World Heavyweight and United States Champion Seth Rollins would make his way to the ring to call out his Night of Champions opponent, Sting. The champion says that, up until last week, he had no problem with Sting before “The Icon” ruined his celebration last week, saying that he is a “real man” and he doesn’t “hide in the shadows” like Sting. Rollins then says that he wants two things from Sting, he wants Sting to take back what he said earlier in the evening when he said that Triple H is better than Seth Rollins, saying that it’s not true because he is “just as good” as Triple H and, one day, he may be even “better” than Triple H. Rollins continues, saying that Sting took his statue and his statue was representative of “the greatest champion in WWE history” before saying that, if Sting has got the “guts”, then he wants Sting to come out there and tell him what Sting did with his statue. However, the champion instead gets WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon, who makes her way to the ring. Stephanie says that she knows that she told Rollins to call Sting out, but she “strongly advises” that Rollins stops talking about her husband Triple H. Rollins says that Triple H was the leader of Evolution and, during that time, anybody would have compared him to Ric Flair and Triple H would not stand for that because, at the time, Triple H was “the man”, saying that “time has passed” and, now, he is “the man”. Stephanie says that she thought that Rollins was “smarter” than letting Sting get in his head, saying that it’s not about Triple H and it’s not about Rollins’ statue, saying that Rollins is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and the United States Champion and Rollins is “the man”. After hearing Stephanie call him “the man” a couple more times, the pep talk seems to work as Seth Rollins says that he is not going to let Sting distract him from what’s important, again calling Sting out and demanding to know where his statue is. Again, Seth Rollins does not get Sting, but he does get the man he beat at SummerSlam with the help of Jon Stewart, John Cena. Cena tells the champion to remember this moment because Rollins is about to realize just how “expendable” he is, saying that Stephanie is not throwing him out of the building this week because, this week, Stephanie is the one who is going to be making Rollins’ life “miserable”. Cena then says that Rollins is the “biggest idiot” he has ever met in his life because Rollins thinks that he is actually “friends” with The Authority, saying that The Authority chose Seth Rollins out of the three members of The Shield because The Authority knew that Rollins was the only one who would stab his friends in the back and do what is “best for business”! Cena continues, saying that The Authority does what is best for business and they take a guy that they can use, give him a chance to succeed, and take everything they can from him. Cena then brings up Randy Orton, Batista, and Kane as examples of this before saying that, in a few months, Seth Rollins will be the latest name on that list. Cena then says that he and The Authority do not see eye-to-eye, but they know who he is and he knows who they are and they don’t try to sell each other any “bull crap”, saying that Rollins is buying into every bit of it. Cena then says that, if The Authority was really Rollins’ friends, then they would not allow Cena to what he is about to do right now. Cena says that Rollins has a match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Sting at Night of Champions, bringing up that it is The Authority who decreed that “every title” will be on the line at Night of Champions. Cena then says that he’s got a rematch clause that guarantees him a rematch for the United States Championship and he is going to cash in his rematch clause for Night of Champions, where Rollins will not only defend the WWE World Heavyweight Title against Sting, he will also defend the United States Title against Cena on the same night! Rollins laughs off the proposed match, but Cena says that it’s not up to Seth Rollins, it’s up to Stephanie McMahon, saying that all he needs from Stephanie is a one-word answer. Stephanie is then left in a difficult position as the Principal Owner has no choice but to honor the rematch clause, giving Cena his answer as “yes”, Rollins will compete twice in one night at Night of Champions, having to defend both of his championships! Cena then exits the ring, standing on the stage as Sting comes out as both of Seth Rollins’ Night of Champions opponents stand on the stage side-by-side as an enraged Seth Rollins stares at the two major threats to his two championships.
