One week after breaking the nose of United States Champion John Cena during the main event of RAW that ultimately ended with Cena picking up the win to retain his title, RAW kicks off with WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, who is all smiles after putting John Cena out of action. Sporting a “Never Shuts Up” shirt in mockery of John Cena’s “Never Give Up” shirt, the champion says that he is the only person that can slow him down, saying that he’s got a “problem” that has been bothering him. Rollins then claims that he has developed “sympathy” for John Cena after shattering Cena’s nose last week, saying that he felt John Cena’s nose “crack” on his knee and, at first, he didn’t feel bad, showing pictures of John Cena’s mangled nose after last week. The champion continues, saying that they should’ve stopped the title match last week and awarded him the United States Championship, but Cena was determined to continue and, in Rollins’ “sympathetic stupor”, he was caught off-guard and ended up tapping out to the STF. Rollins then vows that will “never happen again” before saying that he has a “proposition” for John Cena, saying that he knows that Cena is recovering at home before challenging John Cena to a rematch, proposing that they go one-on-one at SummerSlam with both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship on the line! Rollins then says that, if Cena doesn’t have the “grapefruits” to show up at SummerSlam, then Cena will forfeit the United States Championship, saying that, one way or another, history will be made at “The Biggest Event of the Summer” as, for the first time ever, a Superstar will hold both the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and the United States Championship. Rollins then reminds everyone that they are close to the city where he won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania and San Jose is also the site of the first U.S. Open Challenge held by John Cena. The champion then says that anything Cena can do, he can do better, declaring that, for the first time ever, there is going to be a WWE World Heavyweight Championship Open Challenge and it starts right now! When Seth Rollins is questioned by JoJo about the legitimacy of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Open Challenge, the champion reveals that he has the full support of The Authority for the open challenge before revealing that there are two caveats on the match, that his opponent has to be less than six feet tall and less than 200 pounds! JoJo comes to the conclusion that the only competitor that fits that description is the mini-bull mascot for Los Matadores, El Torito! Rollins then reveals that El Torito is exactly the opponent he had in mind, calling El Torito out for their championship match. However, the champion forgot about one particular high-flyer who fits the champion’s description for an opponent as “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville answers the open challenge, much to the chagrin of Seth Rollins as the impromptu WWE World Heavyweight Championship match gets underway! Neville would give it his absolute all in the championship match, even scoring with the Red Arrow, but the wherewithal of Seth Rollins to get his foot on the rope would cut short what looked to be a three-count. Neville would then go for the Red Arrow a second time, but Rollins would move out of the way before scoring with the Pedigree, pinning Neville to successfully defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a stellar title match. In a rematch from last week’s SmackDown, The Lucha Dragons would team with Los Matadores, with El Torito in their corner, would face The Ascension and The New Day’s Big E & Kofi Kingston, with Xavier Woods in their corner, in an 8-Man Tag Match with WWE Tag Team Champions The Prime Time Players guests on commentary. In the end, a distraction from Xavier Woods would allow Kofi Kingston to hit Trouble in Paradise, pinning Kalisto to pick up the win for his team. The newly dubbed Submission Sorority was on RAW as, with Paige in their corner, Charlotte & Becky Lynch would face Team Bella members Brie Bella & Divas Champion Nikki Bella, with Alicia Fox in their corner. In the end, it was Charlotte locking in the Figure Eight on Nikki Bella, making the Divas Champion tap out to pick up the win for herself and Becky Lynch. After taking a moment to pay homage to the innovator of the talk show segment, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, The Miz would host Miz TV live on RAW. The Miz says that, when Ryback is done “nursing” his injury, he will be the new Intercontinental Champion, saying that Ryback should do the “honorable” thing and surrender the championship. The Miz then introduces the first of his two guests as The Miz brings out former NXT Champion Kevin Owens as Owens makes his way to the ring. Owens tells The Miz that he owns every one of The Miz’s movies before The Miz asks Kevin Owens what he thinks Cesaro’s problem is with him. Owens accuses Cesaro of being “jealous” of him before getting ready to talk about his accomplishments the last few months, but Owens is interrupted by the arrival of the second guest on Miz TV, Cesaro. Cesaro says that he just wanted a front row seat to hear what “walk Owens walk” has to say and he does just that as Owens says that Cesaro is jealous of him because he has succeeded where Cesaro has failed. Owens makes sure to mention that he has beaten John Cena, something that Cesaro has not done, before saying that, no matter how hard Cesaro works, he will never match Owens’ “god given natural ability for this business”. Cesaro says that he is “ashamed” of Kevin Owens because every time that Owens walks away from a match, he disrespects every Superstar who has ever stepped foot in the ring, calling Owens an “embarrassment”. This raises the ire of Kevin Owens as Owens gets in the face of Cesaro, saying that he has accomplished more in “three months” than Cesaro has accomplished in “three years”. This brings Cesaro to his feet, telling Owens that he may be good at “talking” but he is good at “fighting”, challenging Owens to fight him right now! After both men tell The Miz to shut up, Kevin Owens says that he will fight anyone at any time for the “right price”, but tonight is not that night. Owens then starts to leave the ring as Cesaro tells Owens that Owens should do what he does best and “walk Owens walk”. The Miz then gets in Cesaro’s face, telling “The Swiss Superman” that he needs to do something about Owens and this is when Owens chooses to strike as Owens comes back into the ring, shoving The Miz into Cesaro. Owens would try to get the better of Cesaro, but Cesaro would fight back, sending Owens into retreat as Owens leaves the ring, leaving an angry Cesaro in the ring. In a collision between two super heavyweights, “The Bulgarian Brute” Rusev, with Summer Rae in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry on RAW. In the end, it was Rusev blasting Mark Henry with two kicks straight to the face, pinning “The World’s Strongest Man” for the win. After the match, Rusev would deliver a third kick to the face of Mark Henry, knocking Henry out of the ring as Rusev stands dominant in the ring with Summer Rae by his side. The 2015 King of the Ring was in action on RAW as King Barrett squared off with Zack Ryder. In the end, it was King Barrett delivering the Royal Bull Hammer, pinning Zack Ryder for the win. For the first time since Brock Lesnar’s knock-down, drag-out brawl with The Undertaker two weeks ago, the advocate for “The Beast”, Paul Heyman, would make an appearance on RAW. Heyman says that, before he brings out Brock Lesnar, he wants to remind everyone that is The Undertaker who picked a fight with Brock Lesnar. Heyman continues, saying that the Undertaker that surfaced at Battleground was an “angry, vindictive, desperate” Undertaker, saying that The Undertaker resorted to kicking Brock Lesnar in the groin. Heyman then says that, when confronted with the fact that he has never been able to defeat WWE’s “alpha dog”, The Undertaker becomes a “submissive, little bitch” when he comes face-to-face with Brock Lesnar. Heyman then says that The Undertaker cannot live with himself knowing that he can never and will never be able to defeat Brock Lesnar. With that, Paul Heyman introduces his client as “The Beast” Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring. However, instead of entering the ring like he normally would, “The Beast” takes apart the steel steps, tossing the top half of the steps into the ring. Lesnar then enters the ring, putting the steel steps in the center of the ring before standing on top of the steps. Heyman then says that, after Brock Lesnar ended the streak of The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 in a match that resulted in The Undertaker being taken to the hospital, The Undertaker called Vince McMahon and “begged” Vince for a rematch against Brock at this year’s WrestleMania. Heyman continues, saying that The Undertaker “begs for nothing” and Vince denied The Undertaker his rematch because Vince knows what will happen the next time that Brock Lesnar fights The Undertaker. Heyman then says that The Undertaker forced WWE’s hand at Battleground by interfering in the WWE World Heavyweight Title match, forcing WWE to sanction a rematch between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker at SummerSlam. Heyman then says that the match between Brock Lesnar and The Undertaker is the match that is “too big for WrestleMania”, saying that it will be the biggest rematch to ever take place before guaranteeing that The Undertaker is going to “Suplex City” at SummerSlam. Heyman then says that, last time, The Undertaker needed an ambulance, a hospital, and a year to recover from his match with Brock Lesnar, but this time, The Undertaker will “rest in pieces” because “The Phenom” will be going one-on-one with his “beast” and The Undertaker’s “conqueror” Brock Lesnar! Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman then confidently leave the ring, giving The Undertaker a lot to think about heading into SummerSlam in less than three weeks. After being challenged to a match earlier in the night by Naomi, Paige would accept the challenge as the Submission Sorority member, with Charlotte & Becky Lynch in her corner, would go one-on-one with Team B.A.D. member Naomi, with Tamina and NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks in her corner. In the end, it was Paige locking in the PTO on Naomi, making Naomi tap out to pick up the win, making it a banner night for The Submission Sorority. Then it was time for an explosive main event as “The Big Dog” Roman Reigns would team with “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose and “The Viper” Randy Orton to face “The New Face of Fear” Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Sheamus in a 6-Man Tag Match. At the end of a wild match, it was Roman Reigns catching Sheamus with the Superman Punch before Luke Harper comes in with a super kick. Dean Ambrose then takes out Harper with a clothesline before diving to the outside, sending both men careening over the announce table. Back in the ring, Randy Orton catches Bray Wyatt with the RKO and Sheamus would try to catch “The Viper” with the Brogue Kick, but Orton would duck and Roman Reigns would blast Sheamus with the Spear, pinning “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” to pick up the win for his team. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, & Randy Orton then stand tall in the ring, having survived a chaotic main event. What did you think of this week’s RAW? Post your comments in the box below.
