WWE SmackDown Results: June 18, 2015By Cassidy| June 19, 2015 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Four nights after surviving the Money-in-the-Bank Ladder Match to earn himself a future WWE World Heavyweight Title shot anytime he wants it, SmackDown kicks off with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Sheamus. Sheamus says that the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase is worth its weight in gold, saying that he is just one capitalized opportunity away from becoming the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Sheamus then shows his involvement in Randy Orton’s match against Kane on RAW where “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” delivered a Brogue Kick to Orton, costing Orton the match. Sheamus says that Orton was a “problem” so he “eliminated” him so he is moving forward. Sheamus continues, saying that he has to look at other “factors”, such as Seth Rollins, The Authority, and even Brock Lesnar. Sheamus then says that “nobody” is going to stand in his way of returning to the top of WWE before saying that they will be “entertained”. Dean Ambrose then makes his way to the ring, reminding Sheamus that he pinned Sheamus on RAW and, if it wasn’t for Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns would be “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” right now. Ambrose then says that, maybe, he will beat Sheamus for a second time and give the briefcase to its rightful owner. Sheamus tells Ambrose that Ambrose likes to steal other people’s property because he can’t win the big one on his own. Sheamus then puts the briefcase down in the ring, daring “The Lunatic Fringe” to come into the ring and take it. Never one to back down from a challenge, Dean Ambrose gets in the ring, but this is when Director of Operations Kane comes out. Ambrose says that he’s in the middle of something, telling Kane that he should be getting The Authority’s dry cleaning. Kane says that he is tired of Ambrose’s “disrespect” and so is Sheamus, making an impromptu 2-on-1 Handicap Match! Per the orders of Director of Operations Kane, the opening match of the night would see “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose square off with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Sheamus and the Director of Operations himself in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. During the match, both Sheamus and Kane would enter the ring, putting the boots to Dean Ambrose, but that is when Roman Reigns would get involved as Reigns and Ambrose work together to clear the ring as Sheamus and Kane walk away with a disqualification victory. Following a loss to The Bella Twins in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match on RAW after the rest of the Divas elected not to align themselves with Paige out of fear of raising the ire of The Authority, “The Diva of Tomorrow” would go one-on-one with Brie Bella on SmackDown. During the match, Brie Bella would feign a knee injury in the ring, which would distract the referee long enough for Alicia Fox to come out and knock Paige off of the top rope. Brie Bella would then take advantage, hitting the Bella Buster and pinning Paige for the win. After the match, Alicia Fox would join The Bella Twins on the stage, apparently choosing her side. Following his heinous attack on Machine Gun Kelly on RAW, NXT Champion Kevin Owens would explain himself in a backstage interview with Renee Young. Owens says that MGK put his hands on him first, saying that they should blame John Cena because if Cena was on RAW and if Cena hadn’t started this whole thing, then what happened on RAW wouldn’t have happened. The NXT Champion continues, saying that he likes it when people “earn” their title matches. Cesaro then confronts Kevin Owens, saying that all he hears is “talk Owens talk”, challenging Kevin Owens to face him one-on-one before touching Owens’ shoulder, saying that he put his hands on the NXT Champion first. “The Showoff” was in action on SmackDown as Dolph Ziggler, with Lana in his corner, went one-on-one with Bo Dallas. In the end, it was Dolph Ziggler hitting the Zig Zag on Bo Dallas, pinning Dallas for the win. After the match, Dolph Ziggler and Lana would share a kiss in the ring as Rusev is shown beside himself backstage. After losing the WWE Tag Team Titles to The Prime Time Players at Money-in-the-Bank, The New Day would be looking to get back on the right track as Xavier Woods, with Big E & Kofi Kingston in his corner, would go one-on-one with “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville. During the match, WWE Tag Team Champions The Prime Time Players would come out to even things out and a brawl between The New Day and The Prime Time Players on the outside would allow Neville to take advantage, hitting the Red Arrow on Xavier Woods, pinning Woods for the win. For the first time since learning that he will defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Battleground against none other than “The Beast” Brock Lesnar, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins would appear on SmackDown to address his upcoming title defense. Rollins says that he is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and he is the “undisputed future of WWE” before saying that he is constantly under scrutiny. The champion then says that all he gets from the fans is “disrespect” before saying that Brock Lesnar was the last person he expected The Authority to pick as his next challenger. Rollins continues, saying that his “shock” turned into “understanding”, saying that, to cement his “legacy”, he has to beat Brock Lesnar at Battleground. The champion then says that Brock Lesnar stood toe-to-toe with him on RAW and he “did nothing” before saying that Lesnar knows better than anybody how “dangerous” he can be. Rollins then says that, if “The Beast” would have took one swing at him, he would have knocked Brock’s teeth down his throat! Rollins then says that he is the “diamond” that Triple H thinks he is and, at Battleground, he will “shine brighter” than ever before saying that he “can’t wait” to face Brock Lesnar at Battleground! After a backstage confrontation between the two earlier in the night, the NXT Champion was in action on SmackDown as Kevin Owens would go one-on-one with “The King of Swing” Cesaro in a non-title match. Despite an impressive performance from Cesaro, it was Kevin Owens hitting the Pop-Up Powerbomb, pinning Cesaro for the win. Then it was time for the main event as, after Roman Reigns came to the aid of Dean Ambrose earlier in the night, Roman Reigns would team with “The Lunatic Fringe” to face “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Sheamus and The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane. At the end of a wild tag match, it was Sheamus blasting Dean Ambrose with the Brogue Kick before Roman Reigns catches Sheamus with the Superman Punch. Reigns was then ready to hit the Spear on Sheamus when Bray Wyatt appears on the Tron, demonically singing “I’m A Little Tea Pot” while holding a picture of Roman Reigns and his daughter. This would distract Roman long enough for Sheamus to take advantage as “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” hits the Brogue Kick on Reigns, pinning Roman for the win. After the match, Bray Wyatt would tell Roman Reigns “Happy Father’s Day” before the lights go out in the arena and, when they come back on, the picture of Roman and his daughter is in the ring as Reigns picks it up and stares at it.
