WWE RAW Results: May 4, 2015By Cassidy| May 6, 2015 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results Two weeks before he and Roman Reigns challenge Seth Rollins in a Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Payback, RAW kicks off with “The Viper” Randy Orton. Orton says that Payback is an appropriate name for WWE’s next pay-per-view because “payback” is exactly what he is going to get. “The Viper” then says that Roman Reigns is going to experience “bitter disappointment” at Payback, but that’s not his problem because he is going to walk out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion and there’s not a “damn thing” that Seth Rollins or Roman Reigns can do about it! Never on to shy away from a confrontation, fellow Triple Threat Match participant Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring. Roman says that, if anyone is going to get “payback” on Seth Rollins, it’s going to be him but Orton asks what he is supposed to do, just stand around and watch Roman get his payback on Seth Rollins. Reigns says that he doesn’t care what Orton does, saying that if “The Viper” comes near him, Orton will not be “standing”. Orton reminds Reigns of his resume, touting his twelve World Title reigns and his twelve consecutive WrestleMania appearances, saying that, if he remembers correctly, Roman has only been a part of three WrestleMania events and has never held a World Title, telling Reigns that he’s got some “catching up” to do. Roman then brings up his win over Randy Orton at SummerSlam, saying that he has no problem breaking Orton “in half” and winning the WWE World Heavyweight Title at Payback. This brings an unexpected interruption as WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day come out to the stage with Xavier Woods saying that they are the “only champions” out there right now. Woods then says that the “burden” falls on them to “spread the power of positivity”, saying that Orton and Reigns are so “negative” and they are out they are out there talking about who is going to beat up Seth Rollins, but “nobody cares”. Kofi Kingston then says that they know that Orton and Reigns have “squandered” all of their opportunities, telling the two in the ring to not worry about the past because today is a “new day” and “New Day rocks”. Big E then tells Roman Reigns to not let it bother him that he has never won the “big one” and telling Orton not to let it bother him that Seth Rollins has his number on “speed dial”. Big E says that, tonight, they have the opportunity to do something “extraordinary” and clap with The New Day! Orton would half-heartedly clap along before giving up and Kofi responds by saying that Orton and Reigns are “too hard-headed”. Big E then says that there is something that Orton and Reigns are going to do and that is take on all three of them here tonight! Xavier Woods then explains that they are not challenging Orton and Reigns because they were informed by The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane that the match would take place! Per the orders of The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane, Payback opponents and the two challengers for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in two weeks, Randy Orton and Roman Reigns, would be forced to team up to face WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day in a 3-on-2 Handicap Match. During the match, Randy Orton would have things well in hand, taking Xavier Woods out with the RKO, but as “The Viper” was close to putting the finishing touches on Kofi Kingston, Roman Reigns charges at Kofi with a Spear in mind, but Kofi would move out of the way at the last second and Reigns would accidentally take out Orton with the Spear! Big E then pulls Reigns out of the ring long enough for Kofi Kingston to pin Randy Orton, scoring an upset victory for The New Day! The WWE Tag Team Champions would then exit the ring, celebrating their victory as Roman Reigns stands in the ring next to Randy Orton, who is still down from the Spear. The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane then comes out to the stage, telling Orton and Reigns that there is “no shame” in losing to the WWE Tag Team Champions and if their evening was to end right now, then they could leave with their heads held high. Kane continues, saying that their night is not over and he wants to “exploit” the growing tension between Orton and Reigns before announcing that, in the main event, Randy Orton will go one-on-one with Roman Reigns, adding that is what is “best for business”! Backstage, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins confronts Director of Operations Kane, accusing Kane of trying to make amends by pitting Randy Orton and Roman Reigns against each other in the main event. Rollins then tells Kane that The Authority is coming back and they will “punish” Kane for his recent actions. Kane responds by saying that he cannot allow the WWE World Heavyweight Champion to “do nothing” while his opponents are in action before informing Seth Rollins that, tonight, Rollins will go one-on-one with Dean Ambrose in a rematch from SmackDown and to ensure that the match is not ruined again, J&J Security will be banned from ringside! Outraged, the champion argues that Kane was the one who got involved in the match on SmackDown, not J&J Security before saying that there is “no point” in the match. Rollins continues, saying that he already beat Dean Ambrose and all Ambrose is going to want to do is hurt him before his title defense at Payback. Kane suggests a few ways that he could make the match worse for Seth Rollins, silencing the champion by saying that, if he hears “one word” from Rollins, then they have a new main event. The seething champion then storms away, wisely keeping his mouth shut for the time being. After he was attacked by Bray Wyatt on two separate occasions last week, Ryback would appear on RAW as “The Big Guy” would do an exclusive in-ring interview with Renee Young. Renee first asks if Ryback has any idea why he has been targeted by Bray Wyatt and Ryback says that he has no idea why Bray has targeted him, but Wyatt has made a very “stupid decision”. Ryback then says that he is no stranger to “facing fear”, saying that he has faced two severe injuries in his WWE career and doctors have told him that he would never wrestle again, but what he does is take “negativity” and turn it into “positives”. Ryback continues that he is “hungry” to help others and “hungry” to step in the ring every week. Ryback then says that, if anything, Bray woke him up and he is “starving” and, now, it’s “feeding time”. Appearing from his dark location, Bray Wyatt responds, saying that he can tell that Ryback is a “scared little boy” and that Ryback is afraid that the fans will see right through his “façade”. Bray continues, saying that people’s fears make them believe in a “higher power” before saying that everything that Ryback loves is going to “fade away” and, in time, so will Ryback. With Tyson Kidd & Natalya back home in Canada, former tag team champions Cesaro & Tyson Kidd, with Natalya in their corner, would face The Ascension on RAW. With the Montreal crowd firmly behind them, Cesaro would spin Viktor around with the Cesaro Swing, spinning Viktor right into a dropkick from Tyson Kidd as Kidd pins Viktor for the win. In a rematch from SmackDown, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins would go one-on-one with “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose in a non-title match and, per the orders of Kane, J&J Security would be banned from ringside. However, before the match gets underway, Director of Operations Kane comes out to the stage and, apparently having heard Seth Rollins call him a “moron” moments earlier in a brief backstage interview with Renee Young, Kane drops the bombshell that, if Dean Ambrose defeats Seth Rollins, then Ambrose will be added to the title match at Payback, making it a Fatal 4-Way Match! Seth Rollins is quick to grab a microphone, protesting Kane’s decision and claiming that it’s unfair to the fans who voted for the Triple Threat Match last week. Dean Ambrose then snatches the microphone away from Rollins, saying that he thinks it’s a “great idea”, polling the crowd on what they think of him potentially being added to the match. The champion then takes the microphone back, saying that it doesn’t matter what anyone in the crowd thinks because “Canada doesn’t matter”. Rollins then says that he is the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, but Kane says that he is “overruling” Rollins and the match stays as it is with the stipulation as it is! With a spot in the WWE World Heavyweight Title match at Payback awaiting Dean Ambrose if he wins, the non-title match then gets underway. During an incredible match between former Shield ‘brothers’, the story of the match would become Dean Ambrose refusing to accept defeat, even after Seth Rollins delivered a hellacious variation of his turnbuckle powerbomb to the ringside barricade! Despite this, Ambrose would somehow manage to mount a comeback, but that is when J&J Security would defy their banishment from ringside, rushing to the ring. However, Ambrose would dispose of J&J Security with relative ease, throwing Joey Mercury into Jamie Noble and knocking both men to the outside. The sly champion then tries to catch “The Lunatic Fringe” off-guard with a roll-up, but Ambrose would counter, rolling Rollins up to pick up the win, earning himself a spot in the WWE World Heavyweight Title match at Payback, which will now be a Fatal 4-Way! Ambrose then stumbles up the entrance ramp, pleasantly surprised that he scored the victory as Seth Rollins is livid in the ring. Backstage, an enraged Seth Rollins busts into Kane’s office, shouting at the Director of Operations over his title defense now being a Fatal 4-Way Match. Kane says that it was the fans who made Rollins’ title defense into a Triple Threat Match last week and, this week, it was Rollins’ own fault that the match is a Fatal 4-Way Match since the champion was defeated by Dean Ambrose. Kane then says that “overcoming adversity” will help Rollins become the champion that they all want him to be, telling Rollins that he has a “plan”. With an “I Quit” Match for the United States Championship against John Cena less than two weeks away, Rusev would be in action on RAW as “The Super Athlete”, with Lana in his corner, would go one-on-one with Fandango. During the match, Fandango would get knocked out of the ring by Rusev and Fandango would set his sights on Lana, encouraging Lana to do some “Fandangoing” with him and the crowd. Lana would allow herself to have a little bit of fun, but Rusev would put an end to the fun quickly, taking Fandango out on the outside before ordering Lana to go to the back. Fandango would then have a brief flurry against “The Super Athlete”, but a big kick to the face of Fandango would turn the tide in an instant as Rusev locks in the Accolade on Fandango, making Fandango tap out to pick up the win. In a rematch from last week, the cosmic enigma known as Stardust, who brings a mysterious bag with unknown contents with him to the ring, would go one-on-one with R-Truth on RAW. During the match, the curiosity of R-Truth would get the better of him as Truth would open the bag Stardust brought to the ring and what Truth found in the bag was his worst nightmare as the bag would contain several rubber spiders! The arachnophobia would overcome R-Truth, allowing Stardust to roll Truth up to pick up the win. More concerned with the fake spiders than losing the match, R-Truth would flee the ring in a hurry. Before he defends the United States Championship against Rusev in an “I Quit” Match at Payback in thirteen nights, United States Champion John Cena would be on RAW for the U.S. Open Challenge. Cena says that he’s never going to say “I Quit”, saying that the difference between himself and Rusev is “passion”, saying that Rusev just wants to crush him. Cena continues, saying that the fans will “never give up” and, as human beings, they all “fight” for what they believe in. Cena then vows that he will not say “I Quit” at Payback and he will be saying that “The Champ is here”. The champion then gets the U.S. Open Challenge underway, asking who is going to step up and challenge him for the United States Championship here tonight. However, the man who comes out it is a man that no one, especially John Cena, could have expected as none other than WWE Hall of Famer and Canadian hero Bret “The Hitman” Hart makes a surprise appearance on RAW, making his way to the ring to a huge response from the Montreal fans! Bret says that he is there for one reason and that is to introduce a “great wrestler”, but before the Hall of Famer can continue, Heath Slater interrupts. Slater says that he will not let his shot at the United States Championship get taken away again. Making his way to the ring, Slater says that he is “sick and tired” of getting attacked “out of nowhere”, but just as Slater says that, Bret Hart pops him in the head with a microphone, taking Slater out! Bret Hart then continues with his introduction, saying that he cannot wait to see how John Cena fares against one of NXT’s most talented performers and Montreal’s own Sami Zayn! Sami Zayn makes his way to the ring to a huge reaction from his hometown crowd, shaking hands with Bret Hart before the match gets underway as the NXT standout challenges John Cena for the United States Championship. During the match, Sami Zayn would roll to the side after a slam from John Cena as Zayn apparently injured his left shoulder. However, Zayn would refuse to give up the grand opportunity, insisting that the ringside doctor let him continue the match and the doctor would reluctantly let the match continue. Somehow, Sami Zayn would manage to fight through the pain, even locking in the Koji Clutch on the champion, but Cena would counter out of the move. Zayn would then narrowly avoid the Attitude Adjustment before both men find themselves on the outside and Zayn does his signature dive to the other side of the ring, hitting a DDT on the arena floor! The Montreal native would then bring the United States Champion back into the ring, but Cena would pop up and deliver the Attitude Adjustment to Sami Zayn, but Zayn would kick out! Clearly in disbelief, Cena would pick Sami Zayn up, but Zayn would fight back before hitting the Blue Thunder Bomb on Cena, but this time, it was the champion who kicks out! Cena would then come back, hitting the springboard Stunner on Sami Zayn and following it up with a second Attitude Adjustment, finally securing the three-count to successfully retain the United States Championship in an incredible championship match. After the match, John Cena would help Sami Zayn to his feet, raising his hand high in the air before Cena exits the ring, letting Sami Zayn have the spotlight in his hometown of Montreal. Zayn soaks in the warm hometown response before exiting the ring, clearly hurting in more ways than one after a classic match. Divas Champion Nikki Bella was set for a one-on-one match against Naomi on RAW, but when Nikki and her sister Brie are on their way to the ring, they are ambushed by Naomi and the returning Tamina Snuka! Naomi then holds Nikki Bella in place as Tamina delivers a superkick to the face of the Divas Champion. Tamina then holds Brie up as Naomi delivers a dropkick to the face of Brie Bella. Naomi then grabs a microphone, saying that’s what “family” is all about, referencing that Tamina is her cousin by marriage. For the first time since defeating Neville exclusively on the WWE Network last Tuesday night to become the 2015 King of the Ring, Bad News Barrett would team with “The Celtic Warrior” Sheamus to face “The Man That Gravity Forgot” Neville and “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler. During the match, the animosity between Dolph Ziggler and Sheamus would result in a brawl on the outside with Sheamus throwing Ziggler into the timekeeper’s area. Moments later, Neville would take Sheamus out, but the distraction would allow Bad News Barrett to catch Neville in mid-air with the Bull Hammer Elbow, pinning the high-flyer to pick up the win for himself and Sheamus. Then it was time for the main event as two of the three challengers in the Fatal 4-Way Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Payback were set to compete as Randy Orton was scheduled to face Roman Reigns. However, before the match begins, Director of Operations Kane comes out, followed closely by WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and J&J Security as the four men make their way to ringside. The plot is then revealed as Jamie Noble introduces himself as the special guest ring announcer, Joey Mercury as the guest timekeeper, Kane as the ringside enforcer, and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins as the guest commentator. With The Authority populating ringside, the match between Randy Orton and Roman Reigns would get underway. During the match, Jamie Noble would get a little too close to the action and would get decked by Roman Reigns for his trouble. Later on in the match, Roman Reigns would score with the Superman Punch to Randy Orton, but before Roman could capitalize, Kane pulls Reigns out of the ring, knocking Roman down with an uppercut. J&J Security then pounce on Randy Orton on the other side of the ring, followed shortly by Kane and Seth Rollins. Roman Reigns then gets back into the ring, diving over the top rope and taking out Kane and J&J Security before Roman starts to hammer away at Joey Mercury. Seth Rollins then takes this opportunity to grab Reigns and send Roman face-first into the steel ring post. The Authority then brings Randy Orton into the ring and, while “The Viper” tries to fight back, the four-on-one odds overwhelm Orton, as well as Reigns. This brings the missing piece of the puzzle down to the ring as Dean Ambrose makes the save and, together, the three challengers clear the ring of Kane and J&J Security, leaving the four participants in the Fatal 4-Way Match alone in the ring. Roman is quick to capitalize on having the champion right where he wants him, blasting Seth Rollins with the Spear and, just when it looked like the three challengers would be left standing tall together, Randy Orton turns Roman around and hits the RKO! However, it would not take Dean Ambrose long to get in on the action as “The Lunatic Fringe” would hook Randy Orton and deliver Dirty Deeds to “The Viper”! This leaves Dean Ambrose as the man standing tall in the ring in what could be a sign of things to come at Payback. What did you think of this week’s RAW? Post your comments in the box below.
