WWE WrestleMania 31 ResultsBy Cassidy| March 30, 2015 WWE PPVs Previous Page Detailed Results After Aloe Blacc performed America The Beautiful to kick off WrestleMania, ladders would surround the ring and entrance ramp for what would be a chaotic opening match on “The Grandest Stage of Them All” as, with the Intercontinental Title belt hanging high above the ring, Bad News Barrett would defend the prestigious Intercontinental Championship against six other men in “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose, R-Truth, the bearded enigma Luke Harper, the cosmic-obsessed Stardust, “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler, and “The Yes Man” Daniel Bryan in a seven-man Ladder Match where the first man to climb a ladder and retrieve the Intercontinental Title belt would walk out as the Intercontinental Champion! The match would start off with all seven men brawling in the ring before a series of dives would conclude with the biggest man in the match, Luke Harper, diving to the outside, taking out all six of his opponents! Not to be outdone, Dean Ambrose would climb a nearby ladder, diving off of the top with an elbow drop, taking out the competition. Back in the ring, R-Truth would set up a ladder, but Bad News Barrett would intervene, using the ladder to take R-Truth out and knock Ambrose off of the ring apron. Daniel Bryan then comes off of the top rope with a dropkick to the ladder, taking Barrett out. Shortly after this, Luke Harper would slam the ladder into the head of Bryan. Harper would then try to climb the ladder, but Bryan would stop the big men, wearing Harper out with a series of kicks. Dolph Ziggler would then enter the fray, blasting Bryan with a super kick before Dolph and Ambrose work together to take Barrett to the outside. Dolph, Ambrose, and R-Truth would then try to climb the ladder, but Stardust would knock the ladder over, taking out all three men! Despite plenty of ladders surrounding the ring, Stardust would exit the ring to get a special bedazzled ladder from under the ring, but before the galactic Superstar could use it, Bad News Barrett intervenes. Barrett would then break a rung off of the special ladder, using it as a weapon on Stardust, as well as Daniel Bryan before Ambrose tosses Barrett face-first into the bedazzled ladder. Ambrose then throws a short ladder into the ring and is joined shortly by Luke Harper as both men struggle for control with Harper driving “The Lunatic Fringe” face-first into a ladder propped up in the corner. Harper then places the ladder on his shoulders, using it to take out a few opponents before R-Truth takes Harper down, hitting the Axe Kick that sends Harper face-first into the ladder. R-Truth then sets up a ladder in the ring, but Barrett takes out Truth before climbing to the top to meet Stardust with Barrett gaining the advantage and delivering a giant superplex from the top of the ladder! Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, and Dolph Ziggler would then climb the ladder, but Ambrose would be the first to get knocked off the ladder and Ambrose would rebound, tipping the ladder over to send Bryan and Dolph to the mat. Ambrose then slowly makes his way up the ladder, but Luke Harper grabs Ambrose off of the ladder, drilling Ambrose with a powerbomb to the outside of the ring that breaks a ladder in half with Ambrose’s body! Harper then tries to climb the ladder before Dolph Ziggler takes Harper out. Dolph then nearly pulls the title down before Barrett pulls Dolph off of the ladder, blasting Ziggler in mid-air with the Bull Hammer Elbow! Barrett then takes Stardust out with the Bull Hammer Elbow as well before joining R-Truth at the top of the ladder, hitting the Bull Hammer Elbow on R-Truth as well. Daniel Bryan then nearly gets the title before Barrett intervenes. Barrett then knocks over the ladder before he is caught with the running knee by Bryan, who then climbs the ladder, but Dolph Ziggler meets Bryan at the top of the ladder. Bryan and Dolph then blast each other with right hands before exchanging headbutts on top of the ladder with Bryan winning the headbutt battle, knocking Ziggler off of the ladder before Bryan grabs the Intercontinental Title belt, pulling it down to win the match and become the brand new Intercontinental Champion! In a grudge match stemming from Seth Rollins trying to end the career of Randy Orton, the self-proclaimed “future of WWE” would have to deal with “The Viper” as Randy Orton would go one-on-one with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins, with J&J Security in his corner, at WrestleMania. Early on in the match, J&J Security would repeatedly get involved on behalf of Seth Rollins, but Randy Orton would have enough and would take out both members of the security with a double suspended DDT on the arena floor! Both men would continue to battle back and forth before Seth Rollins takes Randy Orton to the outside, delivering a springboard moonsault to the outside, taking Orton out. Back in the ring, Orton would catch Rollins on the top rope and both men would battle for control before Orton delivers a back drop to Rollins off of the top rope. Orton then catches “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” with a suspended DDT, but Rollins would dodge the RKO and both combatants would counter each other before “The Viper” finally scores with the RKO, but Rollins kicks out! With the RKO failing to put Rollins away, Orton would go to the next extreme as he sets Rollins up for his dangerous punt. However, J&J Security would get in between Orton and Rollins and they would pay the price as Orton drops both Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury with the RKO! The distraction would appear to pay dividends for Rollins, however, as Rollins would hit the Curb Stomp on Randy Orton, but this time, it was Orton who kicks out! Orton would then dodge the Phoenix Splash and, when Rollins goes for the Curb Stomp, Orton pops up and delivers the RKO to Rollins, pinning “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” to pick up the win on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”! Then it was time for a clash for the ages as, in a match that no one thought could or would ever happen, “The Icon” Sting would step into the ring for his first match in WWE at his first WrestleMania ever to go one-on-one with “The Game” Triple H in a match with no disqualifications or count-outs. Early on in the match, both veterans would go move for move, cautiously battling for control, but once Sting manages to lock Triple H into the Scorpion Deathlock, the COO’s backup plan would be revealed. With Triple H locked in the Scorpion Deathlock, Triple H’s D-Generation X cohorts would rush down to make the save as Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, & X-Pac would intervene! However, Sting would deal with the interference, taking down all three men before coming off of the top rope, taking Triple H and his three buddies out on the outside. With Sting and Triple H back in the ring, Billy Gunn would get on the ring apron and Sting would knock him to the floor, but the distraction would allow Triple H to hit Sting with the Pedigree! However, Sting would kick out and “The Game” would exit the ring to retrieve his trusty sledgehammer, bringing it into the ring. Before Triple H could use the weapon, the COO is stunned by the arrival of the original nWo as “Hollywood” Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, & Kevin Nash! In a flashback to the Monday Night Wars, the three Hall of Famers would make their way to ringside, taking out D-Generation X at ringside! With Triple H’s attention on the nWo, Sting would hook “The Game”, hitting the Scorpion Deathdrop, but when Triple H kicks out again, Sting goes back to the Scorpion Deathlock, locking in the move on Triple H. Triple H would then desperately reach for his sledgehammer, but Hulk Hogan would pull the weapon out of the ring! This would re-ignite a brawl on the outside as X-Pac would send Hogan into the steel ring post, Kevin Nash would take X-Pac out with a clothesline, and Billy Gunn would take out Nash! On the other side of the ring, Scott Hall would go for the Razor’s Edge on Road Dogg, but Road Dogg would counter, taking both men out. Meanwhile, in the ring, Sting still has the Scorpion Deathlock locked in on Triple H, but Triple H is finally able to make it to the ropes to force Sting to break the hold. Sting then drags Triple H to the center of the ring to try and apply the move again, but that is when Shawn Michaels enters the ring out of nowhere, blasting Sting in the face with Sweet Chin Music! Shawn Michaels then leaves the ring as Triple H drapes his arm over Sting, but Sting kicks out again! Michaels then rallies the troops on the outside, helping the rest of D-Generation X to their feet as Billy Gunn hands the sledgehammer for Triple H. However, with Sting backed into the corner, the nWo gets back to their feet as well as Scott Hall hands Sting his baseball bat! With DX and the nWo cheering on their respective representative from ringside, Sting would take Triple H down with the bat and, when Triple H holds his sledgehammer up to try and protect him, Sting uses the baseball bat to break the sledgehammer in half! Sting then drops the bat, opting to use his bare hands to beat Triple H down in the corner before hitting the Stinger Splash on “The Game”. Sting then backs up to deliver a second splash to Triple H, but when he charges towards the corner, Triple H picks up the head of the sledgehammer, blasting Sting in the skull! This would finally keep Sting down for the three-count as Triple H prevails on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”. After the match, D-Generation X would enter the ring, helping Triple H to his feet before the nWo enters the ring, doing the same for Sting. These two factions then stand face-to-face, ready for a war, but instead, Triple H extends his hand to Sting and Sting accepts as the two legends shake hands in the ring! After a special musical performance from Kid Ink, Skylar Grey, & Travis Barker, it was time for the Divas to take the grand stage as, in her WrestleMania debut, Paige would join forces with AJ Lee as the two unique Divas would face The Bella Twins, Divas Champion Nikki Bella and her sister Brie Bella. Throughout the match, the story would become The Bella Twins’ isolation of Paige as Nikki Bella would repeatedly knock AJ Lee off of the ring apron, keeping AJ out of the match. Nikki would manage to hit the Rack Attack on Paige, but Paige would show her resilience by kicking out and staying in the match, finally tagging in AJ Lee! On the outside, Paige would send Brie Bella into the steel steps, giving AJ Lee the chance to lock in the Black Widow on Nikki Bella, making the Divas Champion tap out to pick up the win for herself and Paige. The United States Championship would then be up for grabs at WrestleMania as fifteen-time former World Champion John Cena would make his eleventh consecutive appearance at “The Show of Shows” to challenge the undefeated Rusev, with Lana back in his corner, for the red, white, and blue-clad title. During the match, John Cena would manage to lock in the STF on Rusev and, upon seeing this, Lana would take off one of her shoes, inexplicably tossing it into the ring. Whatever Lana had planned would not appear to work, but Rusev would still manage to get to the bottom rope. Shortly after this, Rusev would climb to the top rope, hitting a huge headbutt on Cena, but Cena would kick out. Cena would then bust out a springboard Stunner, but Rusev would kick out and, moments later, Rusev would lock in the Accolade on John Cena. However, Cena manages to break out of the Accolade before locking in the STF for the second time! Rusev would try to pull himself to the ropes, but Cena would pull Rusev back into the center of the ring. Cena then spots Lana on the ring apron and goes to confront her and when Rusev charges at Cena, Cena sidesteps and Rusev knocks Lana off of the ring apron! Cena then hoists Rusev up and hits the Attitude Adjustment, pinning Rusev for the first time in Rusev’s career, bringing the undefeated reign of terror of “The Super Athlete” to an end as John Cena walks out as the new United States Champion! As Cena celebrates his title win, Rusev shouts at Lana at ringside before walking to the back, showing no concern for Lana as the referee and medical personnel help Lana to the back. After emerging victorious against Sting in a classic match that saw both D-Generation X and the nWo get involved earlier in the night, WWE COO Triple H would appear with his wife, WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon, at WrestleMania. After revealing that WrestleMania has set a new attendance record for Levi’s Stadium with 76,976 fans packing the stadium, Stephanie gives full credit for the success of WrestleMania and WWE as a whole to herself and Triple H. Triple H then says that, not only did he beat Sting, he feels like he beat anyone who has ever “beat against” him and Stephanie and it makes him feel like he beat all the fans in the arena and around the world. Triple H continues, claiming that he “owned” Sting just like they “own” every Superstar and every Diva in the back and just like they own all the fans. Triple H then says that The Authority “always wins”, sharing a kiss with Stephanie before they are subject to an electrifying interruption as none other than “The People’s Champion” The Rock returns to the grand stage of WrestleMania! As Triple H & Stephanie McMahon appear less than happy to see The Rock, The Rock makes his way to the ring to confront The Authority to an uproarious reaction from the fans in attendance. The Rock tells The Authority that they don’t “own” the fans and they “damn sure” don’t own The Rock, saying that he was born in the East Bay. The Rock then says that they can create a WrestleMania moment right here and right now before Triple H gets in The Rock’s face, saying that he remembers kicking The Rock’s ass for most of their rivalry, so he has “nothing to prove” to The Rock. The Rock would not take “no” for an answer, saying that while he left his “heart in San Francisco”, Triple H clearly left his “balls in Stamford, CT”! Triple H then takes off his jacket, ready for a fight, but Stephanie steps in between The Rock and her husband, saying that, without the McMahons, there would be “no Rock”. Stephanie then brings up The Rock’s father and grandfather, saying that “High Chief” Peter Maivia, Rocky Johnson, and The Rock would be “nobody” without Vince McMahon Jr. and Stephanie McMahon. The Rock fires back, saying that she wants to talk about the McMahons and the Johnsons, but the fact of the matter is that Stephanie would not even be in charge if it wasn’t for “Vince McMahon’s Johnson”! Stephanie would respond to this by delivering a hard slap to the face of The Rock! Stephanie then continues to badger The Rock, asking if The Rock is going to hit a woman, saying that it’s her ring, her stadium, and her “people”! Stephanie then screams at “The People’s Champion” to “get out”! Surprisingly, The Rock exits the ring, leaving a smug Triple H & Stephanie in the ring, but The Rock changes his mind, pacing at ringside before setting his sights on the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey in the front row! Ronda Rousey then jumps over the ringside barricade and, together, The Rock & Ronda Rousey walk into the ring as the crowd explodes in chants for the most intimidating and dominant female in UFC history. The Rock tells Stephanie that he would never hit a woman, but he’s got a good friend who would be more than happy to! Trying to diffuse the situation, Stephanie says that her and Ronda Rousey are “friends”, saying that she is a big fan of Rousey and she knows that Rousey is a big fan of hers. Stephanie then says that she hopes that The Rock didn’t fill Rousey’s head with some sort of image of a big WrestleMania moment, saying that it’s not going to happen, calling the notion “ridiculous”. Stephanie continues, saying that Rousey is the “most dangerous unarmed woman on the planet” and, in the world of MMA, she would never try to mess with Ronda Rousey, but this is WWE and this is her ring. Stephanie then says that, unless Rousey is going to get back in her seat and enjoy WrestleMania like a “good little fan”, then Rousey should get the hell out of her ring. Never one to back down, Rousey tells Stephanie that whatever ring she steps foot in is her ring, saying that, if Stephanie wants her to leave, then Stephanie should make her leave! Stephanie then repeats herself, again telling Rousey to get the hell out of her ring, ordering her to do it now. The Rock then adds that the look on Ronda Rousey’s face right now means that, if Stephanie keeps running her mouth, then Rousey is going to pull Stephanie’s insides out and play “jump rope” with her “fallopian tubes”! This brings Triple H back into the conversation as Triple H says that’s the “last thing” that The Rock is going to say about his wife and The Rock agrees that it’s the “last thing” he’s going to say. With that, The Rock drops the microphone and unloads on Triple H with right hands, cornering Triple H and when “The Game” ambles out of the corner, he is slammed down with a hip toss from Ronda Rousey! Stephanie then spins Rousey around, getting in the UFC fighter’s face and trying to slap Rousey, but Rousey stops the slap and grabs the arm of Stephanie! Despite having the ability to snap Stephanie’s arm with relative ease, Rousey only wanted to make Stephanie beg for mercy as Rousey lets Stephanie go as she regroups with her husband outside the ring. Meanwhile, in the ring, The Rock tells The Authority that what they just experienced is what it’s like to be “owned”, concluding with “if you smell what The Rock & Ronda are cooking”! Having succeeded in his attempts to get the attention of The Undertaker, Bray Wyatt would be granted his unusual wish as the self-proclaimed “New Face of Fear” would face the man with a record of 21-1 at WrestleMania, the legendary, the mysterious, “The Deadman” The Undertaker. Before the match even begins, Bray Wyatt would take a run at The Undertaker and, not missing a beat, “The Deadman” would take Bray down with a big boot. The match then gets underway as The Undertaker looks as dominant as he did twenty years ago. Bray Wyatt would briefly take control of the match before the veteran takes over, hitting his signature guillotine leg drop on the ring apron. Back in the ring, The Undertaker would score with Snake Eyes, but Bray Wyatt would battle back with a big clothesline to “The Deadman”. Bray then takes control of the match, but just when it looks like Wyatt was close to finishing The Undertaker, “The Deadman” would surprise Bray, nearly locking in Hell’s Gate as Wyatt fights out. Bray then hits a huge slam on The Undertaker, following it up with a senton splash. Bray then sets up for Sister Abigail, but Wyatt takes time to mock The Undertaker and that costs Bray as The Undertaker grabs Bray by the throat, delivering a huge chokeslam. The Undertaker then spikes Bray Wyatt in the center of the ring with the Tombstone Piledriver, but Bray kicks out! The Undertaker then slowly makes it back to his feet with the intent of delivering a second Tombstone Piledriver, but Bray Wyatt counters, striking with Sister Abigail, but this time, The Undertaker kicks out! Bray Wyatt then springs up into his back-bending and creepy tarantula walk, but The Undertaker responds by doing his trademark sit-up, stunning Bray! Both men then stare at each other as they both climb to their feet, exchanging right hands before Bray gets the better of the fight. Bray then looks to hit Sister Abigail for a second time, but The Undertaker shoves Wyatt away before picking Bray up and drilling Wyatt with the Tombstone Piledriver again! This time, The Undertaker keeps Bray Wyatt down for the three-count, defeating Bray Wyatt and resurrecting his legendary career on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”, bringing his unparalleled WrestleMania record to 22-1. Then it was time for the main event of “The Show of Shows” as the winner of the 2015 Royal Rumble Match, Roman Reigns, would step onto the biggest stage in sports-entertainment as the proud Samoan Superstar would have to contend with “The Beast” as Roman would challenge the vicious, the remorseless, and the seemingly unstoppable Brock Lesnar, with Paul Heyman in his corner, for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. The match would start ferociously with Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar pummeling each other in what resembled a prison brawl, but it was Brock Lesnar hitting the first big move of the match, taking Reigns down with a German suplex before hoisting Roman up and dropping Reigns with the F-5! However, the champion would not attempt a pinfall, touching the blood on his face from Roman’s right hands before slowing the match down to a methodical pace. “The Beast” would then begin his dissection of the #1 Contender, tossing Reigns across the ring and, when Roman tries to mount a comeback, Lesnar does not give an inch, drilling Roman with another suplex. Despite being beat down, Roman Reigns would have a smile on his face as Roman appears to enjoy the punishment just as much as Lesnar enjoys dishing it out. Lesnar then hits Roman with the fifth suplex of the match and Roman continues to smile as Lesnar delivers his sixth suplex. Shortly after this, Roman would catch Lesnar on the second rope, delivering several knees to the face of “The Beast”, but Brock would then catch the leg of Reigns, blasting Roman with a hellacious clothesline that knocks Reigns to the floor! The bloodied champion then brings Roman Reigns back into the ring, hitting his seventh suplex on the challenger. Roman then rolls to the outside and manages to climb to the ring apron before Lesnar grabs Reigns and delivers a belly-to-belly suplex over the top rope into the ring, the eighth suplex of the match. Lesnar then hits a second F-5, but Roman Reigns kicks out and the champion removes his gloves before slapping Roman across the face. Roman refuses to back down, actually daring Lesnar to keep slapping him and Brock does just that, repeatedly slapping Reigns, but Roman would just smile at the champion! This would enrage “The Beast” and Brock would level Roman with two more suplexes, bringing the total count to ten before Lesnar hits a third F-5 on Reigns, but Roman kicks out again! With a combination of surprise and anger, Brock Lesnar would bring Roman Reigns to the outside with devious intentions, but Roman would spot an opening and would take it as Roman sends “The Beast” face-first into the steel ring post, busting the champion open! With blood pouring from his head, Brock Lesnar would barely make it back into the ring before the ten-count. With Roman Reigns poised and ready, the battered champion would slowly make it to his feet as Roman charges in with a Superman Punch to Lesnar, but “The Beast” would not go down! Roman then lands a second Superman Punch on Lesnar, but when Reigns goes for a third Superman Punch, Brock ducks and catches Reigns. However, Roman would battle out of the attempted suplex and would score with a third Superman Punch, which finally takes Lesnar off of his feet! Roman then sizes Brock Lesnar up before delivering the Spear to “The Beast”! However, Lesnar is able to quickly climb to the ropes and get back to his feet, but the champion would walk right into a second Spear from Reigns! Roman then goes for the cover, but Lesnar is somehow able to kick out! Roman then tries for another Superman Punch to Lesnar, but the champion catches Reigns, delivering a fourth F-5 to the challenger! However, the amount of abuse that Brock Lesnar had endured would keep “The Beast” from being able to pin Roman as both men are down in the ring. With both Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns beaten down and vulnerable in the ring, an epic opportunity was ripe for the taking for a certain briefcase-holder as “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” himself, Seth Rollins, runs to the ring with his Money-in-the-Bank briefcase and, in an unprecedented move, Rollins would cash in his Money-in-the-Bank contract for a guaranteed title match with a title match already in progress, making the WWE World Heavyweight Title match into an impromptu Triple Threat Match! Seth Rollins quickly kicks Roman Reigns out of the ring before turning his attention to Brock Lesnar, hitting the Curb Stomp on “The Beast” and making sure Roman was still down on the outside, Rollins would go for a second Curb Stomp. However, this time, Brock Lesnar would catch Rollins, but before Lesnar could deliver the F-5, Roman Reigns comes back into the ring and blasts Lesnar with the Spear! Rollins then hits the Curb Stomp on Reigns, pinning Reigns to make history and become the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion! After becoming the first man to not only have a successful cash-in of Money-in-the-Bank at WrestleMania, but the first man to successfully cash-in without pinning the champion, Seth Rollins even appeared to be in disbelief as Rollins quickly escapes the ring with the WWE World Heavyweight Title belt. Seth Rollins’ disbelief turns into pure elation as the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Champion wildly spins the title around before holding his prize high as fireworks erupt around Levi’s Stadium as a new era in WWE begins on “The Grandest Stage of Them All”.
