WWE SmackDown Results: March 19, 2015By Cassidy| March 20, 2015 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Ten nights before the biggest match of his career at WrestleMania against Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, SmackDown kicks off with the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, Roman Reigns. Roman is barely able to get a sentence out before, much like last week, Reigns is interrupted by Mark Henry, who makes his way to the ring. Henry says that he wanted to find out what Roman had in the ring last week and Roman showed him something before “The World’s Strongest Man” shows what happened last week when Roman delivered a Spear to Mark Henry through the ringside barricade. After viewing the footage, Mark Henry tells Roman Reigns that he got what he “deserved” before Henry says that he is putting all of his money on Roman Reigns beating Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Henry then tells Roman that Reigns “can” and “will” beat Lesnar before the two men shake hands. This brings out “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins, who is flanked by The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane and J&J Security. Kane makes fun of Mark Henry, calling Henry the “world’s biggest self-help guru” and saying that Henry cannot truly believe for a second that Roman Reigns can beat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Seth Rollins then holds up his Money-in-the-Bank briefcase and says that “anything can happen” at WrestleMania. Rollins then says that, for those fans expecting Randy Orton, they will be disappointed because Orton will not be in the arena tonight, saying that J&J Security have made sure that Orton will not “step foot” in the arena. Rollins continues, saying that being kept out of the arena is for Randy Orton’s “own good” because he is saving all of the “humiliation and suffering” for WrestleMania. Rollins then says that he is in the mood for a “WrestleMania tune-up” before Kane announces that, tonight, he and Seth Rollins will face Roman Reigns & Mark Henry in the main event, saying “believe in The Authority”. With Paige & AJ Lee set to face The Bella Twins a week from Sunday at WrestleMania, Paige would go one-on-one with Brie Bella in the opening match of the night with both AJ Lee and Divas Champion Nikki Bella guests on commentary. The match would start off with a lot of intensity as a brawl would break out between Paige and Brie Bella on the outside of the ring with Brie getting the better of the fight before bringing the fight back into the ring. In the end, it was Paige surprising Brie Bella with a roll-up, pinning Brie for the win. Then it was time for the Intercontinental Title Contender’s Gauntlet Match where the six men who will challenge Bad News Barrett for the Intercontinental Championship in a seven-man Ladder Match at WrestleMania would face off on SmackDown as Daniel Bryan, Dean Ambrose, R-Truth, Stardust, Luke Harper, & Dolph Ziggler would take part in the match where two randomly selected Superstars would face off. Then, when a Superstar is defeated, another Superstar will enter the match and this would continue until all six competitors have entered and the last man standing would be declared the winner. The first two Superstars to go one-on-one in the Gauntlet Match would then be revealed to be “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose and the cosmic oddity known as Stardust. During the match, Stardust would look for a sunset flip on Dean Ambrose, but the heavier Ambrose would block the attempt, keeping Stardust’s shoulders down for the three-count, advancing in the Gauntlet Match. However, the disgruntled Stardust would ambush Dean Ambrose, twice sending Ambrose shoulder-first into the steel ring post. This brings out R-Truth, who fights off Stardust before the match officially gets underway between R-Truth and Dean Ambrose. However, Stardust would get back on the ring apron and R-Truth would knock Stardust off of the apron, but that is when Ambrose would take advantage, using the unlikely assist to catch R-Truth off-guard, hitting Dirty Deeds on Truth and pinning Truth to advance in the Gauntlet Match. Having already survived Stardust and R-Truth in the Gauntlet Match, Dean Ambrose would then have to contend with the demonic wildman known as Luke Harper. Ambrose would try his best to overcome his injured shoulder to combat the big man, but in the end, it was Luke Harper planting “The Lunatic Fringe” with a sitdown powerbomb, pinning Ambrose to advance in the Gauntlet Match to face “The Yes Man” Daniel Bryan. After working over the legs of Luke Harper throughout the match, Daniel Bryan would overcome the hard-hitting big man by latching onto Harper’s leg, using the kneebar to wrench the injured leg, making Harper tap out as Daniel Bryan advances to the final portion of the Gauntlet Match where he would go one-on-one with “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler. In an absolutely incredible match between two of WWE’s best pure wrestlers, both men would give it their all before Dolph Ziggler was able to catch Daniel Bryan with the Zig Zag, pinning Bryan to win the Gauntlet Match! After a show-stealing match, Dolph Ziggler would help Daniel Bryan to his feet before shaking Bryan’s hand. However, Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett would then come out to ruin the moment of respect between the two as Barrett would deliver a cheap shot to Dolph Ziggler with a microphone before Daniel Bryan would attack the Intercontinental Champion, but when Bryan goes for the running knee on Barrett, Barrett would pop Bryan in the head with the microphone as well. Barrett then sizes up Dolph Ziggler before leveling “The Show-Off” with the Bull Hammer Elbow, following it up with a Bull Hammer Elbow for Daniel Bryan as well! Clearly fed up with the shenanigans of the last few weeks, Bad News Barrett would stand tall over two of his six challengers, holding the Intercontinental Title belt high. In the first ever 6-Being Interspecies Tag Match, SmackDown would see WWE Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Tyson Kidd team with Tyson Kidd’s wife, Natalya, to face Los Matadores & El Torito. At the end of the unusual match, it was El Torito coming off of the top rope onto Natalya, but Natalya would catch the mini-bull, hitting a sitdown powerbomb, pinning El Torito to pick up the win for her team. Then it was time for the main event as, per the orders of Kane, the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, Roman Reigns, would team with “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry to face “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins and The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane, with J&J Security in his corner. However, when Mark Henry does not come out for the match, Superstars and medical personnel find Mark Henry in an unconscious state in the backstage area, apparently the work of The Authority as, with Mark Henry in no shape to compete, Roman Reigns would be forced to go it alone against both Seth Rollins & Kane. Before the match begins, not only would Seth Rollins & Kane be accompanied by J&J Security, but a four-man security team would follow The Authority, standing at the bottom of the entrance ramp to try and keep Randy Orton away from Seth Rollins, should Orton attempt to interfere. With Mark Henry taken out of commission by an apparent attack by The Authority in the backstage area, Roman Reigns would be forced to face “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins and The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane, with J&J Security in their corner and a four-man security team preventing interference, in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. Despite the odds, Roman Reigns would combat the unfair odds, knocking Joey Mercury off of the ring apron with the Superman Punch and knocking Jamie Noble off of the ring apron, as well. Seth Rollins would then try to come off of the top rope, but Roman Reigns would catch “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” in mid-air with the Superman Punch, following it up with a Spear to Kane, pinning the Director of Operations to pick up the unlikely win. After the match, Roman Reigns would shove past the four-man security team on his way to the back as a livid Seth Rollins throws a fit in the ring. That is when Randy Orton’s music would play, putting the security on alert, but the crafty Orton would come in through the crowd, taking Rollins down. The security team with then rush in and Orton would drop one security guard with the RKO, tossing another one out of the ring, and planting the remaining two security guards with a double suspended DDT! With Seth Rollins vulnerable, Randy Orton would hit a slam on Rollins, but before Orton could hit the RKO on “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank”, Jamie Noble gets involved and Noble gets dropped with an RKO before Joey Mercury tries to come off of the top rope onto “The Viper”, but Orton would catch Mercury in mid-air with another RKO! Unfortunately for Randy Orton, J&J Security’s sacrifice would allow Seth Rollins to slip away from Orton for the time being as “The Viper” paces the ring with Seth Rollins looking on in fear and disbelief from the safety of the stage.
