WWE: Why was Justin Gabriel released from WWE?By Cassidy| February 4, 2015 Wrestling News After being unexpectedly released from WWE prior to the Royal Rumble event last Sunday, there have been a lot of questions and rumors surrounding the departure of former WWE Tag Team Champion Justin Gabriel (Paul Lloyd, Jr.). Early reports indicated that Gabriel was scheduled to be an entrant in the Royal Rumble Match, but was replaced by Curtis Axel following his release. Now, according to PWInsider, WWE officials are not happy with how the high-flyer ended his tenure in the company as Gabriel reportedly left the arena prior to the January 19 episode of RAW after WWE Creative informed Gabriel that they had nothing for him at the time. WWE’s Senior Director of Talent Relations, Mark Corrano, went looking for the high-flyer, but Gabriel was gone and, when Corrano finally got in touch with Gabriel, Gabriel told the executive that he was quitting. Since his release from the company, Justin Gabriel has made no public comments about his departure. Gabriel has wasted little time in moving on, however, as the high-flyer already had several appearances on the independent circuit scheduled moments after his release, even signing on to compete at a Pro Wrestling Syndicate show this past Saturday (less than a week after his WWE release), now using the ring name “PJ Black”.
