WWE SmackDown Results: February 26, 2015By Cassidy| February 27, 2015 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Following a disappointing loss to Roman Reigns at Fastlane with a main event spot at WrestleMania on the line, SmackDown would kick off with Daniel Bryan. Bryan says that it was the fans who gave him his “opportunity” and it was the fans that got him a spot at last year’s WrestleMania, where he ultimately won the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Bryan continues, saying that, at Fastlane, he got a “second chance” as he had the opportunity to get everything back, but he “failed”. Bryan then says that, this year, he will not be in the main event of WrestleMania and it has had a lot of people asking if the “Yes Movement” is dead before Bryan emphatically leads a “no” chant. Bryan then says that, despite not being in the main event of WrestleMania, he’s got “big plans” for the event. However, before Bryan can reveal what his big plans for WrestleMania are, he is interrupted by the title-less Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett. Barrett says that nobody wants to hear Bryan’s “sob story”, telling Bryan that “losers” like Bryan do not deserve the spotlight. Barrett continues, saying that Dean Ambrose also does not deserve the spotlight and Ambrose stole Barrett’s Intercontinental Title belt. Barrett then tells Bryan that, if Bryan does not get out of his ring right now, then Bryan is going to find out what happens when someone steps on Barrett’s toes. However, Bad News Barrett would be interrupted by Dean Ambrose, who makes his way to the ring with Barrett’s Intercontinental Title belt in hand. As soon as Ambrose enters the ring, a fight breaks out between “The Lunatic Fringe” and the Intercontinental Champion. The fight then spills to the outside with both men knocking each other down as, in the ring, Daniel Bryan sets his sights on the Intercontinental Title belt, admiring the gold. Bad News Barrett then comes back into the ring, getting in Bryan’s face as Bryan continues to admire the belt. Barrett then snatches the belt away from Bryan, but turns right around into a right hand from Ambrose and Bryan follows that up with a kick to the face! Ambrose then quickly picks up the title belt as Bryan and Ambrose exchange an awkward look before Bryan leads a “yes” chant with the fans. Moments after getting into a fight with Bad News Barrett, Dean Ambrose was in action on SmackDown as “The Lunatic Fringe” would go one-on-one with The Miz with Damien Mizdow nowhere in sight as the personal assistant was apparently off doing his duty as a commercial spokesman. During the match, Bad News Barrett would make his way to ringside to retrieve his Intercontinental Title belt, but Dean Ambrose would quickly jump out of the ring, launching himself at Barrett. Ambrose would then try to enter the ring with the title belt, but a kick from The Miz would make Ambrose drop the belt. However, Ambrose would regain control in the match and, as Barrett makes a hasty retreat with his Intercontinental Title belt back in his possession, Ambrose hits Dirty Deeds, pinning The Miz to pick up the win. Following a confrontation that ultimately cost The Usos their rematch for the WWE Tag Team Titles on RAW, Jimmy Uso’s wife, Naomi, with The Usos in her corner, would face Tyson Kidd’s wife, Natalya, with WWE Tag Team Champions Cesaro & Tyson Kidd in her corner. During the match, The Usos and Cesaro & Tyson Kidd would get into a fight with The Usos getting the better of the WWE Tag Team Champions. However, the fight would draw the attention of Naomi and Natalya would take advantage, hitting the Discus Clothesline and pinning Naomi for the win. After denying John Cena a rematch for the United States Championship at WrestleMania on RAW, United States Champion Rusev would appear on SmackDown with Lana by his side. Rusev holds up the United States Title belt, saying that it is a symbol of a “true champion” and it is a symbol of their “American champion”. Lana then says that a “champion” is someone who stands tall and full of “pride” and who stand above Americans who are “beneath him”. Rusev adds that being a champion also means that he does not have to agree to other people’s terms. Rusev says that, just like all Americans, when things got tough, John Cena just “gave up”. Lana then says that Rusev is a champion and he answers to no one, especially someone who is “falling asleep” on the job, referring to Cena being rendered unconscious at Fastlane. Lana then reads a statement from Russian President Vladimir Putin that allegedly praises Rusev and his latest title defense. Rusev then says that he will have a great match at WrestleMania, but it will be against someone who is worth his time, saying that the opponent will not be John Cena because it will “never” be John Cena. Rusev then states that John Cena has been “beaten, broken, and crushed”. Rusev is then interrupted by a longtime rival as “The Real American” Jack Swagger comes out, asking if Rusev is “scared” of John Cena. Swagger then says that, if Rusev is afraid to fight, then he came to the wrong city, saying that Rusev is surrounded by “real Americans”. Swagger then declares “we the people” before attacking the United States Champion, taking Rusev down and knocking Rusev off of the ring apron with a hard clothesline. Swagger then brings Rusev back into the ring, but the United States Champion rolls out to the other side of the ring, catching Swagger with a big right hand before hitting a big kick to the head of Swagger. Back in the ring, Rusev would wear Swagger out with more stiff kicks before blasting “The Real American” in the face with another kick. Rusev then locks in the Accolade on Jack Swagger with Swagger having no choice but to tap out in an attempt to garner mercy from the United States Champion. However, Rusev would lock in the Accolade for a second time on Swagger, refusing to let go of the hold until referees rush out, finally getting Rusev to release the hold. After a confrontation earlier in the night, Daniel Bryan would go one-on-one with Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett in a non-title match with R-Truth a guest on commentary. During the match, Daniel Bryan would narrowly miss hitting a dropkick on Bad News Barrett, but the impact into the corner would knock Barrett’s Intercontinental Title belt in the floor. Barrett would take his focus off of Bryan to pick his belt off of the floor and put it back in the corner. Shortly after this, Daniel Bryan would lock in the Yes Lock on Bad News Barrett and, with Barrett’s attention on his opponent, R-Truth would sneak up and steal the Intercontinental Title belt, stowing it under the announce table. Meanwhile, in the ring, Bryan would narrowly avoid the Bull Hammer Elbow, hitting the running knee on Barrett, pinning the Intercontinental Champion to pick up the win. After the match, Bad News Barrett would eventually come to and would realize that his Intercontinental Title belt is missing, eventually asking R-Truth about the belt’s whereabouts. Truth would claim to not know where the title belt is at, putting his hand over Byron Saxton’s mouth and Barrett would buy the explanation, distraught about losing track of his title belt yet again. Backstage, R-Truth confronts Dean Ambrose with the Intercontinental Title belt in his possession, handing the title over to Dean Ambrose and commenting that “SmackDown is on fire” with two unofficial title changes in one night. Still claiming to be in the Royal Rumble Match, the delusional Curtis Axel went one-on-one with Fandango, with Rosa Mendes in his corner. Fandango would make quick work of the third-generation competitor, hitting the Last Dance and pinning Curtis Axel for the win. For the first time since being assaulted by his younger brother, Stardust, at Fastlane, Goldust was in action on SmackDown as “The Bizarre One” would go one-on-one with Adam Rose, with The Exotic Express in his corner. In the end, it was Goldust hitting the Director’s Cut on Adam Rose, pinning Rose for the win. After the match, Goldust would exit the ring, walking past The Exotic Express, but one of the Rosebuds would ambush Goldust! The Rosebud would then remove his disguise to reveal that it was Stardust in the outfit. Stardust then continues the assault on his brother, rolling Goldust into the ring and blasting Goldust with right hands. Stardust then tosses Goldust into the corner of the ring before planting Goldust in the center of the ring with Cross Rhodes. Then it was time for the main event as, in a rematch from Fastlane, “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler would team with Erick Rowan and “The Big Guy” Ryback to face three members of The Authority in “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins, The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane, and “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show, with J&J Security in their corner, in a 6-Man Tag Match. At the end of a chaotic match, it was Dolph Ziggler catching Seth Rollins with a super kick, followed by Ryback hitting Shell Shocked on Seth Rollins, pinning “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” to pick up the win for his team. Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, & Erick Rowan then stand tall in the ring as The Authority looks on. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown? Post your comments in the box below.
