WWE Fastlane 2015 ResultsBy Cassidy| February 23, 2015 WWE PPVs Keeping The Dream Alive. The Road to WrestleMania would take a turn in the fast lane as the inaugural edition of WWE Fastlane came to you, live on the WWE Network and select pay-per-view providers, from the FedExForum in Memphis, TN. Back in November, Sting shocked the world when, despite a nearly thirty year career in the wrestling business, “The Icon” would make his WWE debut, making an unforgettable impact on WWE when he helped Team Cena defeat Team Authority to drive The Authority out of power at Survivor Series. The Authority has since regained power, but “The Vigilante” has continued to stand up to The Authority, even helping John Cena thwart The Authority last month to get Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, & Erick Rowan their jobs back in WWE. After twice having his plans ruined by Sting, WWE COO Triple H had enough of the legend and “The Game” has called Sting out for a face-to-face confrontation at Fastlane and “The Icon” has accepted. Furthermore, Triple H has vowed that, one way or the other, he will make sure that Sting is never seen in a WWE ring again. Will Triple H achieve his goal or will Sting stick it to Triple H yet again? What will happen when these two veterans come face-to-face? At last month’s Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns entered the 2015 Royal Rumble Match at #19 and went on to win the 30-man match to earn his spot in the main event of WrestleMania against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar. That very same match also featured fan favorite Daniel Bryan, who was quickly eliminated from the Rumble, sparking outrage from the WWE fans. This would lead to The Authority stepping in and goading Roman Reigns into putting his main event spot at WrestleMania up for grabs and, by virtue of defeating Seth Rollins with the help of Roman Reigns, Daniel Bryan would be the man to face Roman with the huge opportunity on the line. Since their match was made official for Fastlane, the mutual respect between Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns has devolved into an all-out war between the two proud Superstars and, at Fastlane, only one man can emerge victorious and only one man can walk out with a guaranteed spot in the main event of WrestleMania. Since arriving on the main roster over a year ago, Rusev has left an impressive line of Superstars in his path of destruction. Having “crushed” the likes of Mark Henry, Big Show, Big E, Jack Swagger, & Sheamus, among others, “The Hero of the Russian Federation” has remained undefeated by pinfall or submission. With his hatred for America fueling him, Rusev would secure the United States Championship from Sheamus and, since then, no one has been able to put a dent in the hard-hitting Bulgarian. However, there is one man who is capable of giving Rusev his first loss in WWE and bringing the United States Championship back home and that is the fifteen-time former World Champion John Cena. At Fastlane, John Cena would have the opportunity to do just that when Cena challenges Rusev for the United States Championship. After a big assist from Sting allowed John Cena to get them their jobs back last month, Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, & Erick Rowan have been on a mission to stop The Authority at every opportunity in their quest to not only get their revenge, but to drive The Authority out of power. Now, at Fastlane, Dolph Ziggler would team with Ryback and Erick Rowan to face the team of “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins, The Authority’s Director of Operations Kane, and “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show in an explosive 6-Man Tag Match! Despite Dean Ambrose pinning the Intercontinental Champion, Bad News Barrett repeatedly refused to give “The Lunatic Fringe” his rightful title opportunity. That was, until, last Monday’s RAW when Ambrose used a zip tie to tie Barrett to the ring post, literally forcing the hand of Barrett in signing a contract to defend the Intercontinental Title against Ambrose at Fastlane! Will Dean Ambrose’s unusual tactics lead to a new Intercontinental Champion being crowned? In recent weeks, Stardust has become obsessed with his intergalactic persona, lashing out at his own brother, Goldust, and even their father, Dusty Rhodes. Now, at Fastlane, Goldust would try to beat some sense into his younger brother when “The Bizarre One” goes one-on-one with Stardust. Also at Fastlane, Paige would get her chance at the ultimate revenge for The Bella Twins’ bullying as of late when Paige challenges Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship. Plus, after weeks of trouble between the two teams, both personally and professionally, The Usos would put the WWE Tag Team Titles on the line against Cesaro & Tyson Kidd. Match Results 6-Man Tag: Seth Rollins, Kane, & Big Show (with J&J Security) def. Dolph Ziggler, Ryback, & Erick Rowan by Kane pinning Dolph Ziggler following the Knockout Punch by Big Show. Goldust def. Stardust by roll-up. WWE Tag Team Championship: Cesaro & Tyson Kidd (with Natalya) def. The Usos (c) (with Naomi) by Tyson Kidd pinning Jimmy Uso (c) following the fisherman neckbreaker to win the WWE Tag Team Titles. Divas Championship: Nikki Bella (c) (with Brie Bella) def. Paige by roll-up with the tights to retain. Intercontinental Championship: Bad News Barrett (c) def. Dean Ambrose by DQ after Dean Ambrose ignores the referee’s five-count. As a result, Bad News Barrett (c) retains. United States Championship: Rusev (c) (with Lana) def. John Cena by submission to the Accolade to retain. Winner Faces Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania: Roman Reigns def. Daniel Bryan by pin following the Spear to keep his spot in the main event of WrestleMania. See page 2 for detailed results.
