WWE SmackDown LIVE Results: January 29, 2015By Cassidy| January 30, 2015 WWE SmackDown Previous Page Detailed Results Four nights after a controversial night at the Royal Rumble featured The Rock getting involved in The Authority’s plans by helping Roman Reigns combat Kane & Big Show, SmackDown kicks off with WWE COO Triple H. Triple H jokingly welcomes the fans to “Monday Night RAW”, bringing up the Blizzard of 2015 that caused them to move SmackDown to Hartford tonight and forced WWE to broadcast RAW from WWE World Headquarters in Stamford. Triple H continues, saying that the state of Connecticut told them that they would have to “postpone” RAW, but WWE does not like to be told what to do, so they aired RAW live from WWE Headquarters. Triple H then proclaims that the WWE Network has reached one million subscribers, saying “thank you” before welcoming everyone in Hartford to SmackDown. The COO says that the Royal Rumble this past Sunday night was “controversial”, but says that WWE is not the only one with “controversy” on them, commenting that there is controversy surrounding this Sunday’s Super Bowl. Triple H then says that, apparently, the NFL has a problem with their “balls”, saying that “some guys like their balls soft” and “some guys like their balls hard” before saying that, according to Tom Brady, some of them like their balls “old”. The COO then says that WWE has never had a problem with “balls” and, unlike the NFL, when he has a problem, he takes “action”. This brings Triple H to his issue with Sting, saying he is going to deal with that problem at WWE Fast Lane, vowing that he is going to go “face-to-face” with his “problem” and he is going to “resolve” the problem. Triple H then turns his attention back to the Royal Rumble, saying that the event as a whole was great, getting praise from the fans for pointing out the epic Triple Threat Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the Rumble. Triple H says that, in that match, Seth Rollins proved that he is the “future” while John Cena proved that he is the “past” and Brock Lesnar proved that he is “The Beast”. Triple H then brings up the focal point of the negativity surrounding the Royal Rumble event, the Royal Rumble Match itself. The COO says that, by the end of the night, the arena was “rumbling”, saying that the atmosphere was “nuts” and everyone was talking about it. Triple H then shows the conclusion of the pay-per-view this past Sunday where The Rock made a surprise appearance to help Roman Reigns combat Kane & Big Show before Roman eliminated Rusev to win the Royal Rumble Match, much to the chagrin of the WWE fans. Triple H then says that, this coming Monday night on RAW, he is going to put an end to the controversy as he will make an announcement that is going to “shake” WWE “to its core”. With a mixed reaction from the crowd in Hartford, the winner of the 2015 Royal Rumble Match, Roman Reigns, makes his way to the ring to confront WWE COO Triple H. Roman says that Triple H keeps talking about “controversy”, but he does not see any controversy because he won the Royal Rumble Match and he is going to WrestleMania to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Triple H agrees that Roman did win the Royal Rumble Match before saying that they will see if Reigns can win his match tonight. Triple H then exits the ring as Big Show makes his way to the ring to face Roman Reigns. For the first time since winning the Royal Rumble Match this past Sunday, the man who will face Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania, Roman Reigns, went one-on-one with “The World’s Largest Athlete” Big Show in the opening match of the night. After a chokeslam failed to put Roman Reigns away, Big Show would make the questionable decision to climb to the top rope and Roman would catch Big Show with two Superman Punches! Roman then pulls the giant off of the top rope before blasting Big Show with the Spear, pinning “The World’s Largest Athlete” for the win. After nearly winning the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on several occasions at the Royal Rumble, “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins, with J&J Security in tow, makes his way to the ring. Rollins says that he nearly pinned John Cena in the Triple Threat Match this past Sunday and he “stuck a dagger” in the heart of “The Beast”, proclaiming that he broke one of Brock Lesnar’s ribs. Rollins then says that, even though he did not win the title at the Royal Rumble, the “future” is within his reach thanks to his Money-in-the-Bank briefcase. Rollins continues, saying that he is feeling so good that he is out there to issue an open challenge to anyone who thinks that they are even “half the man” that he is, daring someone to come out there and “test” him. The man who answers the call is a Superstar who has been at odds with The Authority for months, Ryback, as “The Big Guy” makes his way to the ring. However, as soon as Ryback gets within striking distance of Seth Rollins, J&J Security ambushes Ryback, leading to a three-on-one beat down by Rollins and his security. Another man who was fired by The Authority a few weeks ago comes out to make the save as Erick Rowan makes a beeline for the ring, knocking down J&J Security before a kick from Seth Rollins knocks Rowan off of the ring apron. Rollins then goes back to stomping away at Ryback before Dolph Ziggler comes out, briefly getting a piece of Rollins before Rollins sends Dolph into the announce table. “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” then goes back into the ring, but Ryback grabs Seth Rollins and, before Ryback could hit Rollins with Shell Shocked, J&J Security rescues Rollins. While Rollins is able to escape, however, J&J Security were not that fortunate as, after slipping out of the grasp of Ryback & Dolph Ziggler, J&J Security are caught by Erick Rowan, but Seth Rollins rushes back to ringside with a knee to Rowan’s back, giving J&J Security enough time to escape to higher ground. After successfully retaining the WWE Tag Team Titles against The Miz & Damien Mizdow at the Royal Rumble, one-half of the WWE Tag Team Champions, Jey Uso, with Jimmy Uso and his wife, Naomi, in his corner, would face Tyson Kidd, with Cesaro and Tyson Kidd’s wife, Natalya, in his corner. In the end, it was a distraction from Cesaro that would allow Tyson Kidd to hit a fisherman neckbreaker on Jey Uso, pinning Jey for the win. With the biggest match of his career coming up against John Cena at Fast Lane, United States Champion Rusev would appear on SmackDown with Lana by his side. Outraged over being eliminated last in the Royal Rumble Match, Rusev says that he should be facing Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania and he is the only undefeated Superstar in WWE and he is the United States Champion. Rusev says that they did not give him Brock Lesnar to face, they gave him a man who is the “past” and a man who is “not a challenge” in John Cena. Rusev then says that Cena does not have the “hunger” or the “desire” that he does and Cena is not the caliber of Superstar that he is before saying Cena is a “loser” who does not belong in the ring with Rusev. This brings out Rusev’s Fast Lane opponent, John Cena, who makes his way to the ring. Cena says that it is not about where Rusev is from, it is about Rusev’s lack of “respect”. Cena then says that Rusev has crushed everyone in his path before reminding Rusev that he is a fifteen-time World Champion, a two-time Royal Rumble winner, and has been in the main event of ten WrestleMania events, calling himself the “face who runs the place”. Cena then says that he held the very same title that Rusev has now back when Rusev was just a pre-teen. Cena then dares Rusev to prove that he is not a challenge to him, readying himself for battle. However, Lana tells Rusev not to waste his time on Cena and the United States Champion obeys, backing off and exiting the ring. Cena then tells Rusev that he is a challenge and, at Fast Lane, he will be proclaiming that “the champ is here”. With a shot at the Divas Championship against Nikki Bella awaiting her at Fast Lane, Paige was being interviewed backstage when The Bella Twins crash the interview. The Bella Twins poke fun at Paige’s pale skin tone with Nikki Bella calling Paige a “vampire”. Having heard enough, Paige shoves Brie Bella, but that would prove to be a mistake for the #1 Contender as The Bella Twins attack Paige as Brie holds Paige in place for a vicious forearm from Nikki Bella. Following their defeat of the legendary New Age Outlaws at the Royal Rumble, The Ascension would face Gold & Stardust in tag team action. In the end, it was Konnor & Viktor hitting the Fall of Man on Stardust with Konnor pinning Stardust, after Stardust elected to tag himself into the match, to pick up the win for The Ascension. With the casket ominously waiting at ringside, it was time for the main event as a determined Daniel Bryan would look to finally put his rivalry with Kane to rest as Bryan faces The Authority’s favorite demon, Kane, in the rarely seen Casket Match, where the only way to win is by putting your opponent in the casket and closing the lid. After several attempts to put their opponent in the casket, Kane would come the closest after blasting Daniel Bryan with a big boot. However, Bryan would manage to keep Kane from closing the lid, keeping himself alive in the match. Later on in the match, Kane would toss Daniel Bryan over the announce table before grabbing a steel chair, delivering two chair shots to Bryan’s back. Kane then brings Daniel Bryan over to the casket, sending Bryan face-first into the casket lid before dragging Bryan to the ring apron above the casket. However, Bryan would battle back, getting back into the ring and running full force at Kane with two dropkicks with each dropkick getting Kane closer and closer to falling into the casket, but when Bryan goes for a third dropkick, Kane grabs Bryan by the throat, delivering the chokeslam to Bryan. Kane then tries to put Bryan into the casket, but the resilient Bryan again fights back, even locking in the Yes Lock on Kane with Kane partially laying in the casket while Bryan wrenches on Kane’s arm and head on the ring apron! Bryan then lets Kane fall into the casket, but Kane would manage to keep the casket lid from closing. Kane then brings Daniel Bryan back into the ring before Bryan knocks Kane back to the ring apron, delivering a kick to Kane’s head that leaves Kane propped up on the middle rope. Bryan then delivers a dropkick that knocks Kane into the casket and, finally, Bryan is able to close the lid as Bryan picks up the win in his very first Casket Match! Daniel Bryan then stands on top of the casket, leading a “yes” chant in Hartford, able to end his week on a high note and burying his rivalry with Kane. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown?
