WWE: 2015 Royal Rumble Match to have more than thirty competitorsBy Andrew Ravens| October 8, 2014 Wrestling News After this week’s WWE SmackDown tapings, the Wells Fargo Center announced that WWE would be going back to a forty man Royal Rumble match instead of its normal thirty man Rumble match. The Wells Fargo Center will be the home of the Royal Rumble and that event will be taking place on January 24th in Philadelphia, with tickets going on sale Friday. The Royal Rumble was started in 1988 when Jim Duggan won the very first match. This event have been going strong for all of these years and last year, the returning Dave Batista won the event to go on to headline WrestleMania 30. Having forty men in the match will be the second time in history that the match had more than thirty men as WWE did a super-sized Royal Rumble Match back in 2011, which was won by Alberto Del Rio.
