After the match, Kane & Seth Rollins would enter the ring, attempting a two-on-one beatdown on “The Lunatic Fringe”, but Dean Ambrose would grab Seth Rollins’ Money-in-the-Bank briefcase, slipping away from The Authority and escaping into the crowd with the Money-in-the-Bank briefcase! SmackDown would play host to a #1 Contender’s Battle Royal where the winner of the over-the-top rope match would become the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Championship as “The Real American” Jack Swagger, “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro, Bo Dallas, Damien Mizdow, Heath Slater, Titus O’Neil, Big E, Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, Diego, Fernando, Sin Cara, Zack Ryder, & Justin Gabriel would all compete to earn a shot at the Intercontinental Title against champion Dolph Ziggler later in the night! Bo Dallas would immediately make an impact in the battle royal, eliminating one of Los Matadores from the match, followed shortly by Sin Cara. Damien Mizdow would then toss the other half of Los Matadores over the top rope followed by Kofi Kingston sending Justin Gabriel over the top rope. Cesaro then tosses Xavier Woods out of the match followed by an impressive elimination of Big E as Cesaro lifts Big E up and dumps him over the top rope. Titus O’Neil then sends Zack Ryder over the top rope before Jack Swagger eliminates Titus O’Neil from the match, followed shortly by Titus’ tag team partner Heath Slater. In an awesome feat of strength, Cesaro would use Kofi Kingston as a projectile, tossing Kofi into Jack Swagger, eliminating both men to win the battle royal and earn himself a shot at the Intercontinental Championship later in the evening! Then it was time for the WWE Tag Team Titles to be defended as, in a rematch from Night of Champions, the brand new WWE Tag Team Champions, Gold & Stardust, would defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against the former champions, The Usos. In the end, Jimmy Uso would hit the Superfly Splash on Stardust, but with The Usos sure to regain the gold, Goldust takes the easy way out, breaking up the pin by attacking Jimmy Uso with one of the tag title belts, resulting in the disqualification loss for Gold & Stardust, but, as a result, Gold & Stardust are still the WWE Tag Team Champions. Total Divas rivals would face off on SmackDown as Summer Rae would team with Layla to face Natalya & Rosa Mendes in tag team action. In the end, it was Layla rolling up Rosa Mendes and hooking the tights, pinning Rosa to pick up the win for her team. After winning a Battle Royal earlier in the evening to earn the opportunity, “The Swiss Superman” Cesaro would challenge Dolph Ziggler for the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown. At the end of a hard-fought match, the title match would end in controversy as Dolph Ziggler would counter Cesaro, rolling Cesaro up and Cesaro would grab the rope before the three-count, but the referee would not see Cesaro grab the rope, counting the pinfall as Dolph successfully retains the Intercontinental Title. Then it was time for the main event as, after seeing his friend Mark Henry crushed and defeated by Rusev two nights in a row at Night of Champions and on RAW, “The World’s Largest Athlete” would try to avenge “The World’s Strongest Man” as Big Show would collide with “The Hero of the Russian Federation” Rusev, with Lana in his corner. After getting dominated throughout much of the match by Big Show, Rusev would enlist the help of Lana in an attempt to assault Big Show as Rusev uses the Russian flag as a weapon against Big Show, resulting in the disqualification. After the match, Rusev would repeatedly jabbing Big Show with the flag before handing the flag off to Lana. Rusev would then set his sights on leveling “The World’s Largest Athlete” with one of his huge kicks, but Big Show would grab the foot of Rusev before turning out Rusev’s lights with the Knockout Punch! As Lana looks on in disbelief, Big Show exits the ring, having made an emphatic statement on behalf of the United States of America. What did you think of this week’s SmackDown?
