WWE RAW Results: September 8, 2014By Cassidy| September 9, 2014 WWE Raw Previous Page Detailed Results The Season Premiere of RAW kicks off in a big way as one of the biggest rivalries of the summer would come to a barbaric end as the six-time former World Champion Chris Jericho would square off with the leader of The Wyatt Family, Bray Wyatt, with Luke Harper & Erick Rowan in his corner, inside the confines of a Steel Cage where the only way to win is by pinfall, submission, or escaping the cage, either by exiting through the door or climbing over the top of the cage with both feet touching the floor! Amidst a punishing match between the steel walls, Bray Wyatt would spider-walk his way towards the exit, but Jericho would stop Bray, nearly locking in the Walls of Jericho on “The Eater of Worlds”. However, Bray fights out and regains control of the match, trying to launch Jericho into the corner of the ring, but the crafty Jericho catches himself, nearly making it out of the cage before Bray intervenes. Jericho then pummels Bray on the top rope before snapping off a hurrincanrana off of the top rope! Jericho then scales the cage, but just when “Y2J” is planning to climb down, he spots Luke Harper & Erick Rowan waiting for him on the floor, so Jericho puts his career on the line in an attempt to take Bray Wyatt out, making a spectacular dive off the top of the cage, taking Bray down with a huge cross body! Jericho then tries to climb out of the cage through the door, but Bray grabs Jericho and both men find themselves fighting on the steel steps on the outside with both Jericho and Bray just one short fall from winning the match. Bray then focuses his vicious attack on the knee of Chris Jericho, which was injured when Jericho dove off the cage, and Bray inadvertently rolls out onto the floor as Bray wins the match. However, victory was not good enough for the disturbing Bray Wyatt as Bray slams the cage door on the injured knee of Chris Jericho, dragging Jericho back into the center of the ring, planting “Y2J” with the Sister Abigail, leaving Jericho in a heap as Bray Wyatt kneels in the ring, shouting “follow the buzzards”. Two weeks before he defends the Intercontinental Championship against The Miz at Night of Champions, Intercontinental Champion Dolph Ziggler appears on RAW. Dolph says that last week was a controversial week for Hollywood celebrities as several “sensitive pictures” were leaked online, saying that no celebrity deserves to be “disrespected” like that. However, the Intercontinental Champion corrects himself, saying that The Miz is the exception to the rule as he has some very “interesting” photos of The Miz. Dolph then exposes some personal pictures of The Miz, first showing The Miz with a shower cap and facial cream. Dolph then shows the second picture, this time showing The Miz shaving his chest, but before the Intercontinental Champion can continue, he is interrupted by The Miz and his stunt double, Damien Mizdow. The outraged Miz says that Dolph invaded the “sanctity” of his home, claiming that the photos were for “medical” purposes. The Miz then says that his “people” will sue Dolph Ziggler and everyone in the arena if they try to re-publish those photos. The Miz and Damien Mizdow then get on the ring apron as The Miz tells Dolph that he will make sure that Ziggler never works in this town again. However, the Intercontinental Champion decides to get his “money’s worth”, exposing the third, and most embarrassing, picture, which shows a completely naked Miz being spray-tanned by his stunt double, Damien Mizdow! The Miz then decides to send Damien Mizdow in to try and ambush Dolph Ziggler, but Dolph fights back, hitting the Zig Zag on the stunt double. Dolph then dares The Miz to come into the ring and fight him, but The Miz backs off, opting to save the fight for Night of Champions. Before she defends the Divas Title against both AJ Lee and Nikki Bella in a Triple Threat Match at Night of Champions, Divas Champion Paige would actually team with one of her Night of Champions opponents, AJ Lee, to face Natalya & Rosa Mendes on RAW. During the match, Paige would continue to taunt AJ Lee and AJ tags herself in, locking in the Black Widow on Rosa Mendes, making Rosa tap out to pick up the win for her team. After the match, AJ Lee snatches the Divas Title belt away from Paige, kissing the title belt before handing it to Paige, who kisses the belt as well! AJ Lee then smiles and skips away from the ring, leaving the Divas Champion alone in the ring. Backstage, a trainer is tending to Chris Jericho and his injured knee following a grueling Steel Cage Match against Bray Wyatt earlier in the night when Jericho is senselessly attacked by Randy Orton as “The Viper” tosses Chris Jericho onto a table and into an anvil case, further injuring the knee of Chris Jericho before leaving Jericho in a heap on the floor. Two weeks before his client, Brock Lesnar, defends the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against John Cena at Night of Champions, Paul Heyman makes an appearance on RAW to deliver a “warning” to Cena on behalf of the champion. Before the advocate could deliver the warning, he is interrupted by the man himself, the #1 Contender for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, John Cena, who makes his way to the ring to confront Paul Heyman. Cena says that he did not want to stretch everyone’s imagination, telling Paul Heyman to say what he has to say to his face. A nervous Heyman says that it takes a special kind of man to be confronted by the “truth”, saying that he has been “authorized” by Brock Lesnar to provide some “inside information” on how to beat Lesnar at Night of Champions. Cena says that he already knows what it takes to beat “The Beast”, saying that his strategy is simple, “never give up”. Cena then hands Heyman a rally towel that reads “never give up”, telling him to give the merchandise to the champion. Heyman tosses the towel aside, saying that Cena “lives” for the kid that gets the opportunity to come to an arena and chant “let’s go Cena”. Heyman continues, saying that, when Brock Lesnar steps into the ring, the champion only hears the voice of three people, the referee, Paul Heyman, and Lesnar’s “victims”. Heyman says that he is there to give Cena a “gift”, saying that the way to beat Brock Lesnar is to just “give in to temptation”. Heyman explains that, no matter what Cena has accomplished in his career, he is met with chants of “Cena sucks” from the fans, saying that those chants get to the #1 Contender, asking if Cena has ever wanted to just tell them to “shut up”. Heyman then tries to drive his point home, giving a Cena-like rap to insult the Baltimore fans before pleading with Cena to lose the concept of “hustle, loyalty, and respect” and, only when Cena brings out the “hatred” dwelling deep inside him, will he be able to defeat Brock Lesnar. Heyman then tells Cena that he “believes” in Cena, but Brock Lesnar thinks that John Cena just does not have it in him. Cena then starts to leave the ring to do what Heyman wants him to do, but Cena decides to come back into the ring, sparking a mix of “Let’s go, Cena” and “Cena sucks” chants from the crowd. Instead, Cena shouts at Heyman to “shut up”, saying that he sees what Heyman is trying to do, but he will not turn his back on the fans that have supported him. Cena continues, saying that Heyman lives in a “shark-infested world” where only the “strong survive” and, if Heyman was given the opportunity to turn his back on Brock Lesnar, he would do it without hesitation. Cena then says that Heyman is talking about something he knows nothing about, living life with “purpose” and “meaning”, shouting at Heyman that he lives by “be John Cena, repeat”. Cena continues, saying that he likes being the guy who gets kids to do their homework so they can come to see RAW and he loves being the guy that, when a sick kid gets one wish, he uses it to get to meet John Cena and he loves being the guy who even his heroes look up to. Cena then says that is why all he knows is “eat, sleep, be John Cena” before saying that Heyman wants him to throw that all away just to win a match, saying that he is “done talking” and now he wants to fight. Cena says that Heyman should love this moment because it’s a moment where he can get angry and pound Heyman’s face into “clay”! Cena then says that he is not going to do that because then he will get accused of beating up a “defenseless Paul Heyman”. The #1 Contender then says that he is giving Paul Heyman one week as, next week on RAW, either Paul Heyman brings Brock Lesnar and he will fight “The Beast” or Brock decides to take another week off and, instead, Cena will fight Paul Heyman! Cena then stuff the rally towel in Heyman’s coat pocket, saying that he will see Heyman next week, leaving a shocked and fearful Paul Heyman in the ring. With a title defense against Cesaro coming up at Night of Champions, United States Champion Sheamus would go one-on-one with “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins in a non-title match on RAW. During the match, Cesaro would make his way to ringside, keeping a close eye on his Night of Champions opponent. Later on in the match, Cesaro would put his hands on the United States Title belt, nearly costing Sheamus the match. Sheamus would then get into a tug-of-war with Cesaro over the belt, intentionally letting go of the belt, causing the #1 Contender to fall to the floor. However, the distraction was enough for “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” to take advantage, hitting the Curb Stomp on Sheamus, pinning the United States Champion for the win. After the match, Cesaro would savor the moment, getting into the ring and mocking Sheamus, slapping the United States Champion across the face before dropping Sheamus with the Neutralizer. Cesaro then holds the title belt above his head before draping it across the motionless body of Sheamus. In a special presentation from NXT before NXT Takeover: Fatal 4-Way this Thursday night on the WWE Network, NXT Champion Adrian Neville would team with Sami Zayn to face the team of Tyson Kidd & Tyler Breeze on RAW. In the end, it was Adrian Neville hitting the awe-inspiring Red Arrow on Tyler Breeze, pinning Breeze to pick up the win for himself and Sami Zayn. Then it was time for a family intervention between Brie Bella & Nikki Bella with a very special moderator as WWE Principal Owner Stephanie McMahon makes her way to the ring to introduce the special guest. Stephanie says that there is nothing more important than family, saying that it is time to bring The Bella Twins back together and there is only one man who can do that. With that, the Principal Owner introduces the legendary host of the controversial Jerry Spring Show, the one and only Jerry Springer. With The Jerry Springer Show’s security guard, Jason, in tow, the TV icon makes his way to the ring. Springer says that he has been trying to solve family problems for the better part of twenty-four years, saying that he is there to try and get Brie & Nikki to reconcile. Springer first introduces Brie Bella, who makes her way to the ring, as Springer says that Brie shoved Nikki on last week’s RAW, but apologized for it the next day on Twitter, asking Brie why she felt the need to apologize. Brie says that she does not forgive Nikki for all the horrible things she has done and said and she should not have had to “stoop down” to Nikki’s level. Springer says that it sounds like Brie might think that she is “better” than her sister, but Brie reminds Springer that Nikki is the one who wished that Brie had “died in the womb”. Springer then introduces Nikki Bella, who makes her way to the ring, actually shaking hands with her sister. Nikki says that she did accept Brie’s apology last week, but that doesn’t mean she forgives Brie for treating her like a “second class sister”. Nikki continues, saying that she is ready to “move on” and she has a lot going on for her right now, saying that she has a shot at the Divas Championship in two weeks. Nikki says that she is not going to let Brie’s “negativity” bring her down before Springer shows footage from Total Divas, showing that there has been animosity between the sisters since before SummerSlam. After seeing the footage, Nikki tears into her sister verbally, telling Brie that she would not be surprised if Brie is the reason that their dad left them! Nikki says that she wouldn’t stick around either if she had a daughter that was such a “witch” like Brie. Springer then shows comments from The Bella Twins’ father, who says that the whole thing is breaking his heart and it needs to be “fixed” and also shows comments from Brie & Nikki’s mother, who says that she is having a hard time understanding what is going on right now. The mother of The Bella Twins, saying that she is sorry that Nikki feels like she was in Brie’s “shadow” for so long before telling Brie that she is the “mature” one and the “bigger person”, saying that Brie needs to be that bigger person now. Springer asks Brie how it makes her feel and Brie shouts at Nikki that she broke her heart and she has their brother, J.J., in her corner. To the surprise of The Bella Twins, J.J. actually comes out to the ring, telling Nikki that she is not the “victim”. This sparks an argument between the sisters and, when Springer tries to get in between Brie & Nikki, the talk show host takes a tumble as The Bella Twins fight with each other, rolling over Jerry Springer. J.J. even tries to stop the fight, but is slapped by Nikki in the process before the fight on the mat continues with The Bella Twins again pulling Springer into the fight. Stephanie McMahon even gets involved, taking a fall as well before getting back to her feet and pulling Brie off of the pile before Nikki again tackles her sister. Finally, referees come in followed by Springer’s security guard, Jason, who finally breaks up the fight as Nikki Bella storms off to the back. However, the issue quickly becomes serious for the seventy-year old television personality as the ringside doctor rushes to check on the downed Springer. While Springer is loaded onto a stretcher, the legend does give the thumbs up, signaling that he will be okay. With a shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles coming up for the team at Night of Champions, Gold & Stardust would face Los Matadores on RAW. In the end, it was Stardust hitting Diego with Dark Matter, pinning Diego to pick up the win for himself and Goldust. After the match, The Usos would be out for revenge as Jey Uso hits Goldust in the back with his crutch as Jimmy Uso attacks Stardust, but Gold & Stardust quickly retreat, escaping to the back. In a rematch from last week’s RAW, the leader of The Exotic Express, Adam Rose, would go one-on-one with Titus O’Neil, with Heath Slater in his corner. During the match, the resident bunny of The Exotic Express would distract Titus O’Neil, but when Heath Slater tries to sneak up on the bunny, the bunny would dodge Slater before hitting Heath with a super kick! In the ring, Adam Rose would take advantage of the distraction, hitting Titus O’Neil with the Party Foul on Titus, pinning Titus for the win. After the match, Adam Rose would invite the bunny into the ring as the bunny would hit a splash on Titus off of the top rope! Then it was time for the main event as, in a rematch from their intense clash at SummerSlam, “The Viper” Randy Orton would try to avenge his loss at “The Biggest Event of the Summer” as he goes one-on-one with “The Juggernaut” Roman Reigns. Throughout the match, Randy Orton would have a counter for everything Roman Reigns would try to throw at him, but Roman was able to hit the Superman Punch on Randy Orton. However, the toll taken on Reigns throughout the match kept Roman from capitalizing and, as soon as “The Viper” has his wits about him, Orton would signal for assistance and Director of Operations Kane and “Mr. Money-in-the-Bank” Seth Rollins would answer the call. Kane & Rollins would then be followed by a group of stage hands, who quickly begin working on setting something up around the ring while, in the ring, Kane & Seth Rollins join Randy Orton in putting the boots to Roman Reigns. The Authority’s plan then begins to come to fruition as Orton calls for the steel cage to be lowered around the ring! However, as the cage lowers, Roman Reigns mounts an offense, tossing Kane and Seth Rollins out of the ring with Rollins just able to slide a chair into the ring before the cage is lowered and fastened down. While Orton get the first shot in, it’s Roman Reigns who would gain the advantage, taking Orton down with the Spear! Roman then picks up the steel chair, but Kane tries to enter the cage and Roman knocks the Director of Operations to the outside. Seth Rollins then makes a huge dive off the top of the cage, taking Roman Reigns down and injuring himself in the process! Kane then methodically enters the ring, picking Roman Reigns up and blasting Reigns with an uppercut before picking Roman up again, this time tossing Reigns into the walls of the steel cage before planting Roman with a thunderous chokeslam. Back on his feet, Randy Orton grabs the steel chair, checking on Seth Rollins before driving the steel chair into the chest of Roman Reigns. Orton then slams the steel into the back of Roman Reigns, breaking the chair over the back of Roman, hitting Reigns with two more chair shots. Orton and Rollins then drags Roman Reigns into position for the Curb Stomp and Rollins shouts at his former teammate before driving the skull of Roman Reigns into the steel chair. Kane, Randy Orton, & Seth Rollins then stand tall over the broken body of Roman Reigns as the sinister plan of The Authority comes to completion. What did you think of this week’s RAW?
