WWE SmackDown Results: May 23, 2014By Cassidy| May 23, 2014 WWE SmackDown Bray’s Way. Nine nights before Payback, the 770th edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown came to you from the O2 Arena in London, England. The UK fans would be treated to a special appearance on SmackDown as, for the first time in 20 years, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan will appear in a WWE ring in the United Kingdom! What will “The Hulkster” have to say to his British Hulkamaniacs? In a match between Batista and Dolph Ziggler on last week’s SmackDown, “The Animal” took the easy way out by delivering a blatant low blow to Dolph Ziggler to get himself disqualified. In addition, Batista also laid Ziggler out with a Batista Bomb after the match before driving Dolph into the ringside barricade with a powerbomb. On this week’s SmackDown, “The Show-Off” will be looking to get revenge on Evolution’s “Animal” when he goes one-on-one with Batista in a rematch and, this time, there will be no disqualifications! After weeks of vignettes encouraging and inspiring fans to “Bo-lieve”, SmackDown would see the much-anticipated debut of the third-generation Superstar Bo Dallas! What kind of impact will Bo Dallas have in his first night on SmackDown? Before their leader, Bray Wyatt, collides with John Cena in a Last Man Standing Match at Payback a week from Sunday, The Wyatt Family’s Luke Harper & Erick Rowan would square off with two men who have had the back of John Cena in recent weeks when Harper & Rowan face WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos in a non-title match. Match Results No DQ: Batista def. Dolph Ziggler by pin following the Spear. Special Referee- Summer Rae: The Funkadactyls def. Nikki Bella & Eva Marie by Cameron rolling up Eva Marie with a quick count by Summer Rae. Bo Dallas def. Sin Cara by pin following the Dudley Dog. Non-Title: Sheamus def. Alberto Del Rio (with Cesaro & Paul Heyman) by DQ after Cesaro interferes. Non-Title: The Usos (with John Cena) def. Luke Harper & Erick Rowan (with Bray Wyatt) by DQ after Bray Wyatt interferes. Detailed Results With a classic introduction from old friend and fellow WWE Hall of Famer Jimmy Hart, SmackDown kicks off with WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan as Hulkamania runs wild in the UK for the first time in 20 years! Hogan says that it is great to be back in the UK before “The Hulkster” promotes the WWE Network show, Legends’ House. Hogan then says that they just got done making history at WrestleMania XXX and they are already on the road to next year’s WrestleMania. The Hall of Famer then asks the big question, “whatchya gonna do when Hulk Hogan, Legends’ House, and the WWE Network run wild on you?” In a rematch demanded by Dolph Ziggler after Batista got himself intentionally disqualified last week and assaulted Ziggler after the match, the opening match of the night would see “The Show-Off” Dolph Ziggler face Evolution’s Batista and, this time, there would be no disqualifications! The match would quickly spill to the outside where Dolph Ziggler would dodge a Spear from Batista, who collides with the barricade. Dolph then grabs a steel chair, using the weapon to deliver multiple chair shots to the back of Batista. Surprisingly, Dolph would continue to dominate the match for the next several minutes, even getting a few near-falls over “The Animal” before the fight spills back to the outside after Ziggler delivers a baseball slide to Batista that sends Batista over the announce table. Batista then regains the advantage by sending Dolph Ziggler into the steel ring steps before “The Animal” dismantles the steel steps with the intent of drilling Ziggler with the Batista Bomb on the steel, but Dolph would counter, using a low blow like Batista did last week. Ziggler then takes a major risk by going for the Famouser from the ring apron, but Batista would dodge the move and Ziggler would land awkwardly on his leg. This apparent injury to Ziggler would allow Batista to take advantage as “The Animal” rolls Dolph back into the ring, delivering the Spear and pinning Ziggler to pick up the win. After the match, Batista would deal out additional damage to “The Show-Off”, dropping Dolph Ziggler in the center of the ring with the Batista Bomb. In a match featuring five of the stars of Total Divas, Nikki Bella would team with Eva Marie to face The Funkadactyls, Cameron & Naomi, with Summer Rae as the special referee. Throughout the match, Summer Rae would refuse to count any pinfalls for Eva Marie or Nikki Bella, but when Cameron traps Eva Marie in a small package, Summer makes a lightning-quick three-count, giving The Funkadactyls the win. After weeks of inspirational videos encouraging fans to “bo-lieve”, SmackDown would see the debut of the third-generation star Bo Dallas, who would go one-on-one with Sin Cara. In the end, it was Bo Dallas hitting the Dudley Dog on Sin Cara, pinning Sin Cara to win his debut match. After the match, the delusional rookie would take a victory lap around the ring before grabbing Sin Cara by the wrist, telling Sin Cara that he “did it” and, one day, Sin Cara could be just like him. After laying John Cena out on RAW, Bray Wyatt would appear on SmackDown with Luke Harper & Erick Rowan by his side. Bray says that he has seen “poverty” and “disease” and, whenever he closes his eyes, he can hear someone calling to him. Bray continues, saying that “evil” is a “very real thing” and people live inside a “bubble” nowadays that serves to protect people from the truth. Bray then says that people are “prisoners of society” and they send in men like John Cena to try and be the hero who tells everyone that this is our “home”. Bray continues, saying that Cena has “lied to our children” for long enough and all it will take is a simple ten-count to “eradicate” John Cena and everything that he stands for. Bray then says that Cena is feeling the “pressure” and that is why Cena has recruited The Usos, but Cena forgot to tell The Usos that he is going to throw them on the “frontlines” and make sure that his “crown” does not get too dirty. Bray then vows that Luke Harper & Erick Rowan will teach The Usos that there are worse things in this life than dying. Bray then says that, when John Cena falls and the Cenation crumbles, he will be there. The maniacal matriarch then speaks in tongues before singing “He’s got the Whole World in his Hands”. With Cesaro and Paul Heyman guests on commentary, United States Champion Sheamus would go one-on-one with Alberto Del Rio in a non-title match. As soon as the match starts, Cesaro stands up and draws the attention of Sheamus, giving Alberto Del Rio the early advantage. Later on in the match, Cesaro would try to deliver a cheap-shot to Sheamus, but Sheamus would catch Cesaro with a right hand first. This would prompt Cesaro to drag Sheamus out of the ring, sending the United States Champion into the steel ring post before dropping Sheamus with the Neutralizer on the outside. With Sheamus out of it, Cesaro would aggressively shake the hand of “The Celtic Warrior”. SmackDown General Manager Vickie Guerrero would then make a rare appearance on SmackDown as Vickie says that she has “great personal skills” and she is “straight-up gorgeous”. Vickie then says that what they don’t know about her is that she knows how to “party”. The GM then introduces the captain of The Exotic Express as Adam Rose makes his way to the ring for the first time on SmackDown, flanked by his usual cast of unique “rosebuds”. Vickie welcomes Adam Rose to SmackDown before handing the microphone over to Adam Rose, who asks the GM if she is a “lemon” or if she is a “rosebud”. While the crowd says that Vickie is a “lemon”, an offended Vickie protests that she is not a lemon. Vickie then steps onto the ring apron, demanding that Adam Rose leave the ring, but Rose taunts Rose with his lollipop, making Vickie fall off the apron into the sea of rosebuds, who parade around the ring with the GM on their shoulders. Then it was time for the main event as, with John Cena in their corner, WWE Tag Team Champions The Usos would face The Wyatt Family’s Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, with Bray Wyatt in their corner, in a non-title match. During the match, Bray Wyatt would shove one of The Usos off of the top rope, ending the match by disqualification. After the match, John Cena would enter the ring, sending a message to Bray Wyatt by delivering the Attitude Adjustment to Erick Rowan. Bray Wyatt would then get on the ring apron as John Cena eagerly waits for Bray to enter the ring, but Bray would decide to save the fight for Payback, dropping from the ring apron and walking away from the fight.
