WWE Extreme Rules 2014 ResultsBy Cassidy| May 4, 2014 WWE PPVs To Hell and Back. One night a year, the WWE goes to the extreme and this year would be no different as the eighth annual WWE Extreme Rules came to you, live, from the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ. The Authority’s determination to destroy Daniel Bryan and his “Yes Movement” has led to the unleashing of “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” Kane as the former Director of Operations was urged to put his mask back on by Stephanie McMahon and, once the mask was back on, the psychotic monster was reborn and Kane immediately set his sights on ending the career of WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan. Kane would nearly succeed in his attempt a couple of weeks ago on RAW when he drilled Bryan with three Tombstone Piledrivers, one of the arena floor, one on the steel steps, and one on the announce table, but the champion would avoid major injury. However, when Kane put his hands on Daniel Bryan’s wife, Brie Bella, this past Monday night on RAW, “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” crossed the line and, as a result, Bryan has vowed to send Kane “straight to hell” at Extreme Rules when Daniel Bryan defends the WWE World Heavyweight Title against Kane in an Extreme Rules Match, where there will be no disqualifications and no count-outs! Since their debut in 2012, The Shield has made their mark in the WWE as the most dominant force in the modern era, but when Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns raised the ire of WWE COO Triple H, “The Cerebral Assassin” put in motion a master plan that would result in the reformation of the legendary Evolution as Triple H convinced “The Animal” Batista and “The Viper” Randy Orton to put their quest for the WWE World Heavyweight Title on hold to help him deal with The Shield and, at Extreme Rules, the past will collide with the future as The Shield squares off with Evolution in a 6-Man Tag Match. With his eerie messages and even eerier appearance, Bray Wyatt has hypnotized the WWE fans into buying into his message, all at the expense of John Cena. The Wyatt Family has set their sights on tarnishing the legacy of John Cena as Bray insists that Cena is really a “monster” in hiding and Bray Wyatt has certainly gotten into the head of John Cena, striking fear and doubt into the eleven-time former WWE Champion, but at Extreme Rules, Cena would look to put an end to Bray Wyatt’s stranglehold on the WWE when Cena goes one-on-one with Bray inside a Steel Cage; a Steel Cage that John Cena hopes will keep Bray’s followers, Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, from getting involved in the match. By hook or crook, Bad News Barrett survived an eight-man tournament to become the new #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title and “The Bearer of Bad News” would be looking to win the Intercontinental Title for the fourth time in his career as he challenges Big E for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules. Three men who failed to win the #1 Contender’s tournament were Cesaro, Jack Swagger, and Rob Van Dam, but in the cases of Cesaro and Rob Van Dam, their losses were a result of outside interference from Jack Swagger. Now RVD is wedged in the middle of an intense rivalry between former tag team partners Cesaro and Jack Swagger and, at Extreme Rules, “Mr. Pay-Per-View” would join “The Real American” Jack Swagger and “The King of Swing” Cesaro in a Triple Threat Elimination Match! The night after WrestleMania, Paige debuted on RAW with the intent of congratulating Divas Champion AJ Lee on the hardest title defense of her career at “The Show of Shows”, but the ego of AJ Lee would prove to be her downfall as AJ challenged the 21-year old to and impromptu match, even putting her title on the line. Mere moments later, Paige would upset AJ Lee to end the 295-day title reign of AJ Lee and become the Divas Champion! AJ Lee has not been seen since and that has provided AJ’s bodyguard, Tamina Snuka, with the chance to step up in the Divas division and that is just what the second-generation competitor did when Tamina won a battle royal on Main Event a few weeks ago to earn the right to challenge Paige for the Divas Title at Extreme Rules. In his short time on the main roster, Alexander Rusev has dominated every Superstar that has come his way, but Rusev’s old NXT rival Xavier Woods would enlist the help of his tag team partner, R-Truth, to try and take down “The Bulgarian Brute” and, at Extreme Rules, R-Truth & Xavier Woods would face Alexander Rusev in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. Match Results Triple Threat Elimination Match: First Fall: Rob Van Dam elim. Jack Swagger (with Zeb Colter) by pin following the Five-Star Frog Splash. Triple Threat Elimination Match: Second Fall: Cesaro (with Paul Heyman) elim. Rob Van Dam by pin following the Neutralizer on a trash can. 2-on-1 Handicap Match: Alexander Rusev (with Lana) def R-Truth & Xavier Woods by R-Truth tapping out to the Accolade. Intercontinental Championship: Bad News Barrett def. Big E (c) by pin following the Bull Hammer Elbow to win the Intercontinental Title. 6-Man Tag: The Shield def. Evolution by Roman Reigns pinning Batista following the Spear. Steel Cage Match: Bray Wyatt (with Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and a singing child) def. John Cena by escaping the cage. Divas Championship: Paige (c) def. Tamina Snuka by submission to the Scorpion Crosslock to retain. WWE World Heavyweight Championship: Extreme Rules Match: Daniel Bryan (c) def. Kane by pin following the running knee. Detailed Results Extreme Rules would kick off with one of the innovators of extreme, Rob Van Dam, as “Mr. Pay-Per-View” would join Jack Swagger, with Zeb Colter in his corner, and “The King of Swing” Cesaro, with Paul Heyman in his corner, in a Triple Threat Elimination Match! After an impressive suplex by Cesaro to Jack Swagger, Rob Van Dam would take advantage with a Five-Star Frog Splash, pinning Swagger to eliminate Swagger from the match. With the match down to Cesaro and Rob Van Dam, the two stars would wage a pretty clean battle, but before long, the rules of the match would come into play as a metal trash can is introduced into the bout. A veteran of the weaponry, RVD would use the weapon to take it to Cesaro, but when RVD goes for the Five-Star Frog Splash on Cesaro, Cesaro moves out of the way and Van Dam gets nothing but trash can. Cesaro then follows this up with the Neutralizer on top of the trash can, pinning RVD for the win! Backstage, Stephanie McMahon confronts WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, telling the champion that she cannot control Kane and that Bryan should consider forfeiting the WWE World Heavyweight Title! However, Daniel Bryan refuses, saying that he will find a way to win here tonight and he will walk out as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Stephanie tells Daniel Bryan that he will not walk out as the champion, but he will become “Kane’s bitch”! “The Bulgarian Brute” was in action at Extreme Rules as Alexander Rusev, with Lana in his corner, would face both R-Truth & Xavier Woods in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match. Before the match can even begin, R-Truth & Xavier Woods try to get the jump on Alexander Rusev, but Rusev wards off the attack. Rusev would expose the steel apron of the ring, slamming Xavier Woods into the steel before slamming Woods on the arena floor. Rusev would then roll into the ring and R-Truth would insist on competing in the match, so the referee rings the bells for the match to begin. As doctors checked on Xavier Woods at ringside, R-Truth would throw everything he had at “The Bulgarian Brute”, but Alexander Rusev would absorb it all before slamming Truth down and locking in the Accolade, forcing R-Truth to tap out to pick up the impressive victory. After the match, Lana would instruct Alexander Rusev to “crush” Xavier Woods and that is just what Rusev would do as Rusev hurls Woods over his head with a Fallaway Slam on the arena floor! After winning an eight-man tournament to become the #1 Contender for the Intercontinental Title, it was time for Bad News Barrett to get his shot as Barrett would challenge Big E for the Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules. In the end, it was Bad News Barrett leaping through the air with a modified version of his Bull Hammer Elbow to the face of Big E en route to Barrett pinning Big E to become the new Intercontinental Champion! For the first time in a decade, Evolution was on pay-per-view as WWE COO Triple H, “The Animal” Batista, & “The Viper” Randy Orton would collide with The Shield, Dean Ambrose, Seth Rollins, & Roman Reigns, in a volatile 6-Man Tag Match. Before the match can even begin, a brawl breaks out between the two factions with The Shield getting the better of Evolution, tossing the veterans out of the ring before the match officially gets started. As one would expect, the match would completely break down and, on the outside, Triple H & Randy Orton would isolate Seth Rollins, but Dean Ambrose would sprint across both announce tables, diving onto Triple H & Orton! With Batista & Roman Reigns the legal men in the ring, the other four men in the match would brawl through the crowd. Triple H & Randy Orton would manage to isolate Dean Ambrose, throwing Ambrose down some stairs before smacking Ambrose’s face into a concrete wall. However, Seth Rollins would put it all on the line as the risk-taker would leap off of a balcony, taking out Triple H & Randy Orton on the concrete floor! With their respective teammates down and out somewhere in the crowd, the match would come down to Batista and Roman Reigns and, after Batista hits a spinebuster, “The Animal” looked to be moments away from victory, but Reigns would fight back, landing the Superman Punch on Batista before blasting “The Animal” with the Spear, pinning Batista to pick up the huge win for The Shield! Then it was time for the Steel Cage Match as John Cena would try to silence the message of Bray Wyatt and preserve his own legacy as Cena would face Bray, with Luke Harper & Erick Rowan on the outside, inside the steel structure. After both men trade blows inside the cage and some outside interference from Harper & Rowan, Cena would get the chance to escape the cage through the door, but he would be halted by Luke Harper & Erick Rowan, who shut the door, using all their strength to keep Cena from opening the door and exiting. Shortly after this, Cena would try to climb over the top of the cage, but Erick Rowan would meet Cena on the way down, getting underneath Cena and pushing Cena back over the top into the ring! After taking Bray down again, Cena would once again try to climb out of the cage, but Luke Harper would meet him at the top, so Cena would bring Harper into the ring! Cena would then try to climb over the top again, but the threat of a chair-wielding Erick Rowan would force Cena to retreat back into the ring, where Bray awaited Cena. Bray then goes for the Sister Abigail, but Cena would counter into the STF and Bray would climb towards the cage door, forcing Cena to break the hold. Then, with Cena in the ring and Rowan on the outside, Rowan would try to pull Bray out of the door, but Cena would pull Bray back into the ring before sending Harper into the steel, taking Harper out again. Both men then battle on the top rope, both trying to knock the other down, but Cena would pick Bray up, delivering the Attitude Adjustment from the top rope! Cena would then manage to cover Bray, but Harper would break up the pin. Cena then takes Harper down with a clothesline before trying to climb out of the cage once again, but he is met at the top by Erick Rowan. Cena then grabs Rowan by the beard, repeatedly slamming Rowan’s face into the top of the steel. Then, with all three members of The Wyatt Family down, Cena would make the slow, painful crawl towards the door, but just as Cena was about to step out of the cage to win the match, the lights would go out in the arena and, when they came back on, a child would be staring into the face of Cena, demonically singing “He’s Got the Whole World in his Hands”. Naturally, this freaks John Cena out, freezing Cena in his tracks and allowing Bray to hit the Sister Abigail on Cena before Bray saunters out of the cage to win the match, embracing the child at ringside before the child exits with The Wyatt Family. The Divas Title was on the line at Extreme Rules as Paige would make her first pay-per-view title defense against the second-generation competitor, Tamina Snuka. Despite being ravaged by Tamina Snuka through most of the match, the resilient Paige would trap Tamina in the Scorpion Crosslock, forcing Tamina to tap out to pick up the win and successfully retain the Divas Title. Then it was time for the main event as weeks of mental and physical torment would come to a head as Daniel Bryan would defend the WWE World Heavyweight Championship against the monster who has made his life a living hell over the last couple of weeks, “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” Kane, in an Extreme Rules Match, which would have no count-outs and no disqualifications. Daniel Bryan would waste little time in getting things started as the champion would attack Kane during his entrance, but this would prove to be a mistake on the part of Bryan as Kane gets the advantage, using a kendo stick on Daniel Bryan before the match heads into the ring. After a brief back-and-forth in the ring, Bryan and Kane would find their way back to the outside of the ring where Kane would blast Daniel Bryan with a big boot before grabbing a steel chair and using it for a modified slam to Bryan on the ringside barricade. Bryan then rolls back into the ring as Kane tosses two steel chairs into the ring, but as Kane sets up one of the chairs in the corner, Bryan rolls out of the ring, grabbing a kendo stick and getting a shot in on Kane. Kane would then catch Daniel Bryan with an uppercut before grabbing a steel chair, slamming it into the back of the champion before setting the chair up and delivering a sidewalk slam to Daniel Bryan onto the steel! After Daniel Bryan kicks out of the attempted pin, Bryan would counter a chokeslam attempt by Kane, using a drop toehold to smash Kane’s face into the steel chair propped up in the corner. Kane would then roll to the outside as Daniel Bryan dives out onto Kane, taking the monster down. Bryan then rips apart both of the announce tables, but Kane fights back, smacking Bryan’s face off of the Spanish announce table and using a piece of the table to knock Bryan onto the table. Kane then exposes the other announce table with the intent of delivering a chokeslam to Bryan from one table through the other, but Bryan counters, planting Kane face-first onto the arena floor with a tornado DDT. Both men would then get to their feet, trading blows before Kane tosses Bryan into the steel steps. Kane then sets Bryan up for the Tombstone Piledriver on the steel steps, but the champion counters, sending Kane into the steel ring post. Bryan then grabs another kendo stick, delivering countless shots to the torso of Kane all the way up the ramp. However, the monster drops Bryan with an uppercut before launching Bryan into a piece of the set. Kane then brings Daniel Bryan backstage where Kane hurls a TV at Bryan, but Bryan narrowly avoids the TV as the television lands in some water. Kane continues to pummel Daniel Bryan back into the parking lot where Bryan finds a snow shovel, using it on Kane before charging at Kane, who lifts the champion over his head right on the hood of a car! Kane then tries to hurl a steel tank at Daniel Bryan, but Bryan moves and the tank is lodged in the windshield. Bryan then dodges a right hand from Kane and Kane puts his hand through a car window! Bryan then procures a tire iron from the trunk of a car, smacking Kane in the skull with the weapon. Realizing that he has to find a way to get Kane back to the ring, Daniel Bryan drags Kane to a forklift, getting another couple of shots in on Kane with the tire iron, leaving Kane prone on a pallet. The champion then commandeers the forklift, using the forklift to transport Kane. With Kane still out of it, Daniel Bryan drives the forklift to ringside where Bryan raises the lift to raise Kane over the top rope, using the machinery to dump Kane into the ring! Daniel Bryan then climbs onto the raised platform, diving off of the forklift with a flying headbutt to Kane! Somehow, Kane still managed to kick out and even made a comeback, dropping Bryan with a chokeslam. Daniel Bryan would kick out of the pin that followed and Kane would grab a steel chair, looking to drill Bryan with the Tombstone Piledriver, but Bryan would counter again, dropping Kane with a tornado DDT on the steel chair. Bryan then grabs the steel chair, wearing Kane out with repeated shots to the back of “The Devil’s Favorite Demon” before locking in the Yes Lock on Kane. However, Kane would crawl his way to a kendo stick, getting a couple of shots in on Daniel Bryan, but Bryan would grab the stick, using it to wrench away at the face of Kane. Kane then manages to pull himself out of the Yes Lock by dragging himself to the outside. Bryan then tries to dive outside onto Kane, but Kane catches Bryan by the throat, driving the champion through the announce table with a chokeslam! Kane then rolls Bryan back into the ring before Kane grabs a table from under the ring, setting the table at ringside, dowsing the table in gasoline before setting the table on fire! However, Daniel Bryan would ensure that it was Kane who would taste the flames as Bryan sends Kane through the flaming table! Kane is quickly extinguished at ringside, but once he gets back into the ring, Kane is caught with the running knee by Daniel Bryan before Bryan pins Kane to successfully retain the WWE World Heavyweight Title! After Daniel Bryan retreats up the ramp, Kane sits up and ignites his pyro on the stage, letting the champion know that the war is just beginning. What did you think of Extreme Rules?
